Heya guys! DreadPirateKate here, but I'll answer to any variant of Kate as long as it's not Cathy. Erm... I'm 29, I'm a nerd, I co-host a weekly podcast, and I came back to Gaia after a long absence. I missed being on it and playing dress up with avs, and figured... why not?

Greetings Kate!

Ok, so I'll try and give the short version. I like Sci-Fi, Horror and Fantasy flick, I co-host a podcast that picks movies in those categories from Netflix streaming, watches them, then reviews them. I'm not much of a Trekkie though. Never got into that. What else... I've played table top and card rpg's. (AD&D, V:tM, M:TG, etc.). I'm a pic and console gamer on a casual level now. As a kid I was huge into both, but grown up responsibilities limited my time for a lot of them, so now I just play off and on. Lots of other little things, too. Used to be into comics, not so much now, though I will read the odd graphic novel if someone tosses one my way. I do some forum/post based rp. Not as much as I used to, but it's still fun. Not much for anime, etc. This is getting wordy lol.

AD&D? What about 3.0? 3.5? Pathfinder?

I don't mind wordy ^_^ Wordy is good, oh and why are you not much for anime?

I strayed away from tabletops when I lost a group to play with. Then for awhile a friend was like "LET'S PLAY MAGIC", but my cards haven't been out in over a year. Or updated. And then, I guess with anime, I'm really fussy. I'd have to like the animation and art style, the story, and not be like "OMG WHAT IS THIS" too often, and horrified.

Well, I don't watch every anime out there, it's like TV and movies, I like some, hate others, and that's pretty much how it is with everyone Kate ^_^ I know, I just gave up on magic completely and my last Pathfinder group fell apart but I want a new one I LOVE tabletop

I feed my rp needs in SL most of the time, cus I just ran out of places to go and I don't get out much in rl anymore. Not enough to meet nerds in a new area. When I did, it was usually work and work related, and most of the co-workers were much less nerdy lol.

Well, if you were local, I'd say let's meet at the local nerd shop sometime and you can make a nerd friend but you probably live no where near me XD

XD well it would be a safe environment, and the one I was thinking of is mostly run by women (who are also part of the D20 girls community)

That does make a difference. I know the one my bff used to get his card from was mostly guys, and if it's anything like my odd trips to GameStop, I'd rather send him to get me stuff lol.

Despite how common Female gamers are getting...a lot of us just don't know how to handle it I mean, the concept that everyone playing a female character is male online still is pretty prevalent. It's a pity since, personally...I want a female nerd -laughs- I want a partner and all that wink

Right, and that makes sense. I'm bad though. I tend to let most guys assume I'm a guy and play into it really well. I make a lot of your mom jokes, and very masculine comments. Or I talk about my "tuck" and offer to show them. Gets rid of a lot of people lol.
