Two hours in a car with my mother and sister. With my sister talking the ENTIRE TIME. And according to my mother and sister--a former nurse and a future one--antibiotics can be used to treat colds!

I gave an explanation, offered citation, mentioned the Nicu thing and made an analogy that I think they'll understand.

This is why antibiotics are becoming resistant to everything nowadays!

I'm still learning, so I'm probably not much help. redface Hopefully with Tea reporting it as well, and giving the citations, it will make a difference.
Another thing you could try is PMing the captain/VCs of the guild and explain why their use of the word is offensive, and maybe get them to change it voluntarily. Especially since the guild hasn't been active in a while, they may not have a problem changing it, once the issue has been explained.

Would anyone be opposed to a Sticky thread to reference specific member's traditions? Basically a member list stating if they're Hellenic, Asatru, etc.?
I figure it would be an easy guide for new members to check on who's who.

Some strung-out old man pulled a knife on me at a bus stop. I didn't get hurt or anything. He was really out of it, and I think he was just trying to stir s**t up. I pretended not to care about the knife, and he laughed, put it away, and started making awkward, incoherent conversation. Bus came: I got on and so did he ( gonk ). Fortunately, he quickly got distracted talking to other people and got off at a stop way before mine.
I told this to my roommate, and she asked me why I hadn't called the police. Frankly, this guy was as stable as a seesaw, and I was the poor schmuck standing in the middle, trying to keep the darn thing balanced. I didn't want to make any sudden movements or do anything that might be interpreted as threatening. Once he got off the bus and disappeared onto some anonymous street off of route 49, I was just relieved he was gone and fixated on getting the rest of the way home safely. Besides, I didn't even know what street he'd gotten off on - not much help for cops.
I dunno. I was kinda in "survival mode" the whole time. Talking to friends helped me to decompress. It was partly my own damn fault for being out alone so late. Very, very unsettling. I think I'm going to buy pepper spray.
