Nelowulf I can see the connection. Both were men who died around the same date. Though i'm not sure where you get sci-fi out of bradbury. Or genius for that matter. Aside from the Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451, he's not really that famous for any of his other stuff. To be honest, I doubt many people could name 4 of the other 9 novels he wrote or at least five of the 50 anthologies, much less 10 of 400+ short stories he wrote. At least, that's how I see it. I'm sure plenty will disagree with my opinion he was way overrated, but eh. Kind of like calling Britney Spears a "pop star savant"... THe difference here, Nelo, is that Ray Bradbury IS considered influential in speculative fiction. A lot of his work has been adapted into other mediums such as television and motion pictures and have done relatively well. Also, most authors would love to have something as successful as Fahrenheit 451 or Martian Chronicles.

Ray Bradbury? Isn't that the guy that made those chocolate eggs?
Yes, I'm being deliberately stupid here.
My point is, it's a perspective thing. I honestly wouldn't know anything the guy's done. Until now, I wouldn't have even be able to say who he was.
I don't even know who made Flash Gordon, Babylon 5, Stargate, or Doctor Who. I only know George Lucas for Star Wars, and Gene Roddenberry for Star Trek.

Except the issue is still the fact that his "influence" and his "success" still comes from those two particular novels. And yes, while most authors would love to have such bland pieces of fiction be considered so "beloved" by english teachers across the land, that doesn't disprove the point that he's basically a two-trick pony, which is my personal beef with "fans" of him. They make it sound like he did a lot, and in reality, it really isn't that much of a footprint at all.
So, while this might seem like much of a difference between fans and me, I really don't care if you kissed the ground he walked on or spat on it. These are just opinions, and I hope to prevent this from going sour in discussion just because someone doesn't agree with me or someone else. Drama over someone's ego being wounded is something i've had plenty of as of late, and really isn't something I want to have happen here.

Mmm cadbury eggs. O wait anyway. I've only read sound of thunder by Bradbury. As for the perspective thing; people mostly know Tom Clancy for rainbow six (as far as i know) or the video games. J R R Tolkien is basically known for lord of the rings and not he hobbit or the slimarlion. The hobbit is a great book, just constantly in the shadow of LOTR. 90% of people probably haven't even heard of the slimarlion. Two of the best authors of all time are known for only a few novels. Clancy has written at least 10 books including non fiction descriptive books on military vehicles and a full military unit. I just thought I'd put something into this.

meh i dont like cadbury eggs, but i'm not a huge fan of caramel so yeah.
there are alot of authors who are famous for a few of their books and not others. has anyone read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley? i'm sure at one point people have read his book and thought he was completely crazy. and i'm sure other people thought he was brilliant. regardless he is book is considered a "must read". not sure how Huxley would feel about that if he were alive today but whatever *shrug*
personally my favorite scifi author is Frank Herbert. i think he has had a tremendous influence on the scifi community. i mean come on, giant worms in a desert. i can see the Tremors movies taking a page out of that. haha 3nodding

Discussion doesn't have to go sour but I find it generally does with you because of how condescending you come across. I notice it every time you disagree with someone, not just Des or I. (And for the record I know I can come across as condescending as well so the blame goes both ways.) Just something you might want to think about.

I got into a knife fight.
I was playing Resident Evil 4, and I fought Krauser. The game practically hands you that boss battle if you use the knife instead of trying to shoot him, except at the last part, where you shoot him in the knee to stun him, then run up and knife him to death.

I can't view that.
I'm still confused as to how a knife got the name MercWorx Sniper. MercWorx I can understand, being a company name and all, but how does a melee weapon get " sniper " on it?

Cale, does Cinn have anything to do with Danika?
You know, like a final touch to her outfit before putting her on display?
Kinda not going anywhere ATM, so just saying.
