Reno Vantas
"Based off how little they seem to have going on, it probably costs more to fuel the boat than it does for us to go to this....Pladia?" Reno would pipe up from a seat behind Sol, having been laying on one of the cushions with his feet in the air over the back of it.
"Paldea. The region should be having decent weather this time of the year and it'd be nice to see it again. Though I'd like to ask that you don't lose your other arm while we're there," Sol remarked, seeing about arranging a quick teleport with Claydol afterward.

"So, how are we going to do this?" Keiko asked, sitting on a chair in our room while holding on to Yuna, who seemed to be happy but otherwise didn't do much. Rala, on the other hand, was sitting on the bed, trying to stay awake while I was focused on packing for the trip. That was before this conversation started, though.

"I guess we could take turns," I offered, knowing Brunor could handle moving us around while Rala was recovering.

"I seriously don't think that's a good idea," Keiko replied. "That'll only make for a half-vacation for both of us, and we won't be able to do anything as a couple. We'd probably be better off trying to get a babysitter," she explained.

I sighed and facepalmed at that. "That just feels like giving up responsiblity," I said, trying not to whine.

It was Keiko's turn to sigh. "Honey, I'm happy that you're taking fatherhood seriously, but not everything in your life has to be about proving yourself to your parents," she insisted. "All parents get babysitters every now and again, it's fine,"

"All right," I responded, admitting defeat. "I'm sure my mother wouldn't mind, but if my Father's there... well..." I trailed off, not wanting to deal with him.

"My parents wouldn't mind, but they have their business to worry about. Then there's my sisters, and while I'm sure they'd be careful with Yuna, they do get harassed fairly often. Not to mention what happened last time Yuna was there," Keiko thought aloud, grimacing at the thought of Yuna getting hit with another Pokeball.

I nodded, and took out my Cross-transceiver. "I'll make the call," I told her. A couple of rings later, and the line was picked up. "Hey. Is Father there?" I asked, as Mother was the one that picked up. As it turned out, though, he'd left for work two days ago. Okay, I could work with that. "I'm..." I trailed off, stopping to think about how to talk to her about this. "I was thinking I'd come visit. Are you busy, or-" This time, she cut me off. And no, she wasn't busy. Feeling a bit lonely, actually. "Alright, I'll be right there."

I hung up the phone, put it back in my bag, and let Brunor out of his ball. "I need you to take me to Castelia," I told him. His attention was quickly turned to Rala, though, so I had to wave my hand in his face to get his attention,"Hey, we can talk about that later, okay? She's fine for now, I just need you to teleport for me," I explained. A second later, Brunor and I were off.

[Thirty minutes later]

Brunor, Keiko, and I reappeared in our room, though Yuna had been left behind with her grandmother. It took some talking, but she eventually agreed after apologizing. She was starting to have to deal with menopause, and it was messing her emotions up, so she said some things she didn't mean which lead to an argument, but we managed to work things out before I left to get Keiko and Yuna. Now that we were back, however, we had time to pack before the team left..

Brian perked up a bit at the mention of a region he'd never heard before. If there was one thing he loved doing, it was traveling and exploring new places. Especially if it meant getting to see Pokemon he couldn't see anywhere else, as well as learning new recipes for his ever-growing personal cookbook. Not that anyone knew about it; it was something he was working on for if he decided to open his own restaurant, or to give as a gift to someone he thought could use it.

"That's a little short notice, Sub," he commented, his tone dry. "Still, it'll be nice to just get away from everything that's happened in the last few months. My bag's already packed; I don't usually carry all that much, except my camping gear." True to his word, all he had to do was return to his room and grab his pack, which contained all his camping and cooking gear that he took with him, as well as a few necessities, such as the Pokemon food he prepared for each of his Pokemon.

"Kid come on, everyone is gonna leave without us if you don't hurry up!" Leon said pounding at Kazu's door. It was quiet inside as he opened the door. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I didn't think I'd have much to pack-" He was stuffing new clothes he got while he's been here. His Galarian Ponyta was helping him pack as the small pony's head perk up. "Ponyta? Is everything-" Ponyta's eyes started glowing as Kazu felt something tug at his heart. "I need to go." "Go? Where are you going?" Leon said as he grabbed Kazu's bag.

Soon enough, Ponyta somehow opened up a small fairy ring. "Pack another bag for her! I'll be right back!" Kazu said as he jumped in along side Ponyta. The Fairy Ring then closed, leaving Leon by himself. He sighed as Pyroar broke out of his Pokeball along with Hisuian Zorura. "She's coming home soon. Guess we better pack a bag for her too." He said as he looked down at Zorura who was hiding behind his leg. "Don't worry. You'll meet my sister soon. She loves everyone she meets." Leon said as he brought Kazu's bag to his room as he started packing Ulla's bag.

After his brief discussion with Clavell, having had to track the man down, Sub would immediately return to HQ for the first time in what felt like forever. He would be greeted by Allan as he entered his office, the Bisharp giving him a salute as he stepped in. Some times he wondered if the Pokemon really stood watch all day and night and if he took breaks when he wasn't looking, at least he hoped he did. Ignoring those thoughts for how he went to sit at his desk and fire up his PC, he had some work to do, or rather a lot of work to do. Vacation was over for the Dark One.

Keiko waved to Sub as he walked by. She had been in the living area with baby Yuna on her lap as he passed her by, though she was quick to crawl on whatever she could get her paws on. Keiko looked away from Sub's office as Yuna crawled around. He was probably just stressed out - but at least she could take his arrival as a sign that her husband might be coming home soon.

Finally back at the HQ, Deo was tired beyond belief. He was mentally cracked and physically sore from lifting the starmobile everywhere. He was ready to go to his room and sleep under the many quilts he has. Provided that Zwei did not make it into a cave system. He made it to the Kitchen before his stomach made a growl. His grandmother always made him food when he was in this state. So there he then decided to fix food. Looking at the clock, it was early. So thinking about breakfast, he then revved up the ovens and began by making Scrambled Eggs and Sausage Links. Followed by Bacon, Eggs over easy, Pancakes, Waffles, Rice with eggs, Sausage patties, and finally, some Breakfast Pizza. He set it all in the kitchen, with a special dish for Abby, as an apology dish. That dish had some chicken bites with rice and egg. Afterward, he set out the fresh fruits and got out the fruit juices and fresh milk. A pitcher of water and finally, after all that, he gave a message for all snagems “Breakfast is ready”

Keiko could smell the food long before it was done cooking, but she had Yuna to look after. Fortunately, by the time Deo spoke up, Yuna headed for a nap, having tuckered herself out from climbing all over everything. Standing up with her baby in her arms, Keiko headed up to our room so she could help Yuna get the rest her body was craving. After about five minutes, Keiko came back to the main lobby sans small child. She had let Indie out of her ball (which I had left in our room some time ago) so the female Indeedee could watch over Yuna. Keiko had earbuds in her ears that were connected to a baby monitor, so if Keiko was free when Yuna woke up, she could retrieve her daughter.

"Welcome back, Deo," Keiko said with a smile to the much taller hybrid. She tried not to remark on how tired he looked - she was ure he knew what he was doing. She didn't want to tell him how to take care of himself - it wasn't her place to do so.

As Keiko started making her plate, Abby marched in and fell into a chair. '"Finally! Sanctuary!" the young Deathrage cheered half in jest, half in exhaustion. "It feels like we've been in Paldea for months!"

"Yeah, I don't blame you," Keiko chimed in as she made her plate. "Feels like I've been waiting for months for everyone to get back. You seem to be in one piece, thankfully."

"Eh, wasn't all that challenging. Mentally taxing as all hell, though," Abby retorted, leaning back on her chair and trying to relax. Fortunately, she didn't seem to notice that Deo was in the room, though the scent of food would certainly catch her attention before long.

Three days would go by since the Snagems have found their way back to the headquarters. The week and a half long vacation once again turned extraordinarily sour because of things well beyond our know how, let alone control. Morale in the building felt sort of low, if I could be honest. It was like being here was a curse of some fashion to everyone here. There was probably not going to be enough therapy, rather it be of the mental or physical sorts, to get people over just what exactly we in Snagem do here. Sub was back hard at work, though, to what I was to understand, it was like he never really had a vacation at all. Crystal was a little bit of a shut in after having another close encounter with the Ziton, a feeling reciprocated by Cera and Aile considering their involvement, which only left Reno frustrated, not so much at them, but more in that the Ziton had gotten more active in our world. The massive mark we left on that abomination left it running, but there was no telling for how long. By my experience with Celcius, it is never long enough. That wasn’t even getting into Aden’s condition, Sol’s feelings about the matter, or any other Snagems that got involved either. All in all…once again, I find vacations tend to suck, especially for those who carry great responsibility.

Freth was one such person who didn’t get off that easily. During a meeting with Clavell one day within the past three days to discuss the past week and a half, Clavell was accompanied by a seemingly charismatic woman by the name of Geeta, who what Sub and I found out was the chairwoman to the Pokémon League and the functions therein. That was including the academy curriculum and the region stability. It was by her we found out that Area Zero was trespassed upon by Freth, catching both Sub and I off guard. Freth had came back banged up and most of her Pokémon in just bad of shape. The only Pokémon that wasn’t in poor condition was her Alakazam, who she had to teleport herself out of danger. When she was confronted by Geeta, Freth made no apology, instead firing back and threatened to get the other regions involved in what could have been a potential cover up by the governing bodies of Paldea that very well could risk the lives on Paldea, if not potentially the world over if what was down in that crater found its way out.

Freth would go on to explain that between the events of dealing with Raifort’s tasks, the dubious nature of the Herba Mystica, Heath’s texts, Team Star’s ever escalating unchecked threat level, the weird clues that the two professors left behind in their lab such as an overly protective computer system, let alone the fact of aforementioned professors going there and not coming back and everyone’s reluctance to do so much as find a body, and Eris’s excessive nagging, Freth decided to bite the proverbial bullet on her own accord and went to investigate Area Zero. During that meeting, Freth would show various images that she managed to take with her SNAG, explaining that she went down there expecting the worst and brought the toughest Pokémon team she could amass as a just in case precaution. She ended up explaining at first it wasn’t too weird…if there was anything off putting, it was pure tera crystal that seemed to form everywhere that probably spread like a cancer on just about anything it could. She showed images of trees, rock faces, and even the ground that had patches of tera crystal covering it. She couldn’t say any which way if it was just dormant or just slowly spreading, but it did make for a surreal scene. She also mentioned that as she descended the pits, there were apparently Pokémon down there like what anyone would know, albeit pretty strong. Something that you would see on the likes of Mount Silver or pick most any Victory Road areas in the region, where any trainer would get tested.

As she continued with the images, she ended up showing that the professors had to been hard at work. Freth said that she had found three stations on the way down the crater. Two of them, she was not able to get in and check to see if there was life in there. The doors were locked and didn’t seem to have any feasible way in. She admitted that with one of them, she tried getting Mamoswine to break down the doors to one of them, using the most powerful Double Edge he could muster on it, only to get a massive headache for his efforts. The professors had these buildings built to make sure that anything on the outside stayed out, which she found weird at first. The third one she encountered, however, she was able to get into, only because apparently tera crystal apparently ravaged this place. No signs of life there, however. The documents that were abandoned in there were too faded and ravaged by weather and time, so she couldn’t get any clues as to what may of happened to Sada or Turo.

Freth would then go on to explain that the trouble started when she started to get into the depths of the crater. As she would show images of the path she took, showing off a massive cavern on one picture which showed some weird circles and triangles on the cavern floor which looked severely old, then a image a towering gigantic tera crystal, she ended up finding something that did not make Eris’s day at all. Another image would get shown, a picture of what looked to be a Pokémon, in fact, it looked like a Hariyama…vaguely. It was robotic in nature, however. And it wasn’t the only thing down there. She then found a robotic Donphan of some kind, showing the picture she took on her SNAG as well as showing the Violet Book showing that this thing was spotted over a century or so ago. There wasn’t just futuristic looking Pokémon either, but there were Salamence that looked already mega evolved and absurdly large and oddly fierce looking Jigglypuff, effectively blasts from some sort of past. There were robotic Tyranitar as if straight out of some sort of movie and much larger, vile, primal looking Amoonguss with presumably grass or ivy growing from it. Freth stated there was an extremely large Pokémon that looked similar to Misdrevous that she ended up getting in a fight with, and while she won, she said she ended up losing out on both Glalie and almost her Hisuan Sneasel, finding out the types on these Pokémon are probably not what they seemed. She wanted to try to capture it as more proof as to what was going on down there, but before she could go for it, the weird Misdrevous looking Pokémon ran away. All in all, those was the ones that she found out the hard way about…who knows what else was down in that gigantic crater.

She then would conclude that there was one final station she found, though she stated she more equated it to more as a vault of some kind. As she showed the picture, it showed a rampway leading up to a large metal door that was in the rock wall. Oddly, unlike the stations before, there was a panel, which Freth presumed was there to open this ‘vault’. Unfortunately, just as with the stations before, there was no way she could get it open. It was there she said she was attacked by another weird Pokémon, and it seemed to be stronger than the one she fought. She said she didn’t get any opportunity to get a picture of it. She said it was a metallic purple Pokémon, blatantly electric type at bare minimum considering how much electricity that this thing discharged. She said it vaguely looked like the Cyclizar every other person in Paldea seems to be riding on, given how it chest looked and such, but what made it weird was that this thing seemed to hover using some sort of jet engines for legs. All the same, whatever it was, it didn’t care for Freth being down there. Freth said she tried to fight it off, and threw nearly everything she had at the thing just to run away. All it did was irritate it further. She only reason why she managed to escape, if barely was managing to distract it with a large boulder she managed to move with her own telekinesis to drop on top of the thing. Granted, she said that the jet dragon thing smashed the rock into bits with general ease, it did give her that couple of extra seconds to get Alakazam out and get them the hell out of that pit.

Freth would proceed to accuse Geeta and those involved in making sure Area Zero is closed off to everyone actually knew what was down there and was putting everyone at risk, and considering the temperament of the Pokémon down there, and it’s a possibility that she allowed two people to die down there. Considering the buildings and the ‘vault’ down there, it was possibly more lives than even that. The power of those weird Pokémon was absurd and it’s a wonder they haven’t found their way out of the crater yet. She didn’t find any more herba mystica as she tried to make her way down the crater; concluding possibly the herba mystica being nothing more than a myth and a good chance that whatever the heck they dealt with over the past week with the titan Pokémon were fabricated somehow. She would imagine that a lot of the Pokémon down in the crater would be super-sized as well if they were feeding on herba mystica like the Pokémon they fought over the past week, but they weren’t. Then toying around with the Tera phenomenon like how Galar does its Dynamax stuff, especially when the crystal has been showing signs of spreading on its own and could potentially make a place absolutely uninhabitable. How did it tie into the likes of Team Star and all, she conceded at least that it may have been an unrelated incident, but the fact that it was left unchecked for as long as that and left Team Snagem to clean up the mess was negligence on their part.

Geeta however, didn’t feel she was completely dead to rights. While the evidence and the problems that Freth showed looked pretty damning for the likes of Geeta and Paldea as a whole, Geeta managed to derail half of the issues with one simple video message. It was apparently Professor Turo that got sent to the Academy, addressed to Clavell and Geeta, apparently discussing some aspects of the Tera phenomenon. The message was dated roughly two weeks before Team Snagem arrived in Paldea. This only left the question if they were alive, why didn’t they say anything when she was trying to snoop around? Make themselves known? She clearly tried to break in one of the buildings down there. Or actually help her when she was being attacked by those weird Pokémon? Certainly, being down there for the past decade they could have come up with something to defend against those weird Pokémon. Not to mention, data like that could be futzed with, Freth would argue. Geeta would concede things did seem worse than what she was led to believe with the condition of Area Zero, but apparently wanted to maintain faith that the professors in the crater would be able to provide answers about it. She would make arrangements to try to make sure that the ‘weird’ Pokémon that was found that way doesn’t leave the crater, which nearly every Snagem was dubious about.

Geeta was at an impasse. A good number the higher ranking, influential Snagems were silently daring her to try putting some sort of sanction against Freth, let alone Snagem as a whole, for Freth’s actions, with the threat of nailing Paldea to the proverbial stake worldwide. While Freth did violate a no trespass order, it did expose a lot that would make the other regions of the world ask Paldea ‘what the hell?’ Geeta argued that Freth’s violation, however, could make things worse in the long run, rather emboldening the ‘weird’ Pokémon to find their way out of the crater, or perhaps find unwanted adventurers of all kinds, rather they be of the curious or malevolent sorts. The crater, by what Freth showed, is a proverbial treasure trove at best. Pandora’s box at absolute worst. For that matter, there are things about the terastal phenomenon that they don’t know about that is gradually being uncovered by the professors still in the cavern that they are aware of for that matter and having any manner of people down there could ruin any potential discovery. For that matter, given that Freth was only down there in a matter of hours, she wouldn’t have the time to completely scour the entire crater, let alone the peace to because of those out of place Pokémon. There could still be plants down there, legitimately.

It was agreed in the end that Freth would get a pardon on the ‘crime’ for now, in exchange for not whistleblowing anything as of yet to the other regions. The terastal phenomenon doesn’t seem to be going beyond Paldea, let alone the fact that this ‘pure’ crystal that seemed to be all over the place in the crater is only limited to the crater, where as say the tera dens that pop up here and there in the region are only merely temporary. The weird Pokémon will have to be studied now that they are known to exist now and to find out what kind of threat they truly are. Eris, in Freth’s mind, was already yelling that they needed to go, but it wasn’t something that Freth was projecting for her. These Pokémon probably didn’t ask to be here for as all she knew. For that matter, considering the events of the Ziton and Team Star, there was more to be investigated, and Geeta had to concede that there wasn’t enough resources to dedicate trying to deal with the crater and trying to contend with the after effects of the Ziton and Team Star and needed Team Snagem to deal with it. Not many cared for the arrangement, but at the very least it got Team Snagem off the hook. At least for now.

Now, as I make my way through the halls of the med lab of Snagem HQ, I wanted to feel all manner of frustration, if not for the events of the past week and a half, but what came as a result of it. I would turn into one of the rooms and look in, seeing Tristen there laid out in the bed. He hadn’t woken up yet from the incident where Team Star finally made their move. Sub ended up coming to me, almost as if he was in a confessional, stating that he knew of some of what Tristen had been going through the last days at the academy, namely in that Team Star was targeting him. When I ask why, Sub ended up dismissing it with the whole discovery with them being under the influence of those mushrooms they found on the Team Star leaders, that they were being controlled by some sort of outside third party. But didn’t know as of yet of why that person wanted after Tristen. That said, I had the feeling that Sub wasn’t telling me something. Like there was more to the story than what was being let on. The most he did tell me was that Tristen performed well and beyond what he pretty much expected anyone to do, single-handedly for a time managed to fend off team Star members, some of whom were hybrids themselves and even powered up by chi machines, and managed to still come out on top, rescuing and protecting what friends he made up to that point. Everything that I trained him to do. It was a comfort, at least. Instead of questioning further, I just let it go for now. Tristen probably wouldn’t have wanted me to grill my own team mates, let alone the Snagem leader, about what else there was going on.

I would take a seat near by his bedside and sit there. It was a seat that I had claimed for hours on end for the past couple of days, waiting on him to wake up, wanting to be there for him when he did. I had all manner of questions for Doc once I got back to the headquarters, questions that couldn’t be answered at the time but roughly a day later. Tristen ended up having Mega Evolution forced on him. According to what we could gather in the aftermath, Clavell, who was witness to it, stated that Tristen ended up going through that change suddenly and rapidly when he was trying to stop Atticus from doing something with the Chi machine that was put in his office. The method was different to what Ambrosia did with Leslie so once again Doc was in unknown territory, having to keep close monitor on Tristen. Doc was trying to remain at least hopeful; Tristen hadn’t gone through any changes while Leslie lost her hybrid state immediately. Maybe it was the method, maybe it was something else. It didn’t mean that Tristen was out of the woods quite yet, however.

Apart from a dubious immediate future, there was the matter of Tristen’s injuries, and the fact that he didn’t seem to be producing any electricity whatsoever. Doc surmised that maybe because of his Mega evolved state, he once again avoided his electrical system being completely burned out, but that said for whatever reason, his biological electrical system was for whatever reason stuck in a ‘discharge’ state. It wasn’t relaxing to allow Tristen to naturally recharge like he needed to. Doc Owl wasn’t sure if that was a result of the forced Mega Evolution as well, or perhaps the expiration of it. Or how he was in his coma. Doc didn’t really want to try to fix it while Tristen was out, provided that he could, let alone test if he could at least take in and retain it with his Lightning Rod ability.

I sat there, a long-winded sigh, thinking back to that week and a half where I was stewing in my own frustration, confusion, and contemplation, trying to seek some sort of enlightenment and I felt as if it was cut short. That I was a good long ways away from realizing my proverbial goal. Granted, I don’t suppose there is anything from stopping me from going back, finish at the very least what I started. I also don’t suppose my Pokémon would actually forgive me if I had just up and called it quits and gone back to status quo again either. But it was in that week and a half which showed what I had been worried about the entire time. As if fate wanted to tell me ‘you’re not wrong’. Right now, though…it just didn’t even matter to me anymore. I couldn’t bring myself to care. All I wanted right now was for Tristen to wake up…

Brian and Amber walked into the HQ, Rachel following not far behind. While the latter were familiar with the area, and who was there, Rachel was new to the whole thing, having only joined the team after rescuing Brian from a falling boulder while in Paldea. Brain had broached the subject of her joining Snagem with Sub, who had agreed once he'd found out why. It was still a bit of a shock to find out that Amber was part of Snagem, even moreso that she was a hybrid now. Amber had informed Brian that her transformation had happened on a job in Sinnoh, when she'd nearly died during a blizzard despite her preparations. He was just glad she was OK.

As the three walked into the building, Brian could smell food, and he saw Deo in the kitchen when they approached. "Thanks for breakfast," he said, giving the Luxray hybrid a smile as he got his plate. Amber was quick to follow, but Rachel hung back, a little intimidated by Deo's size. How in the world was he so big? Shaking her head, she looked at the others that were there. There was a Lopunny hybrid sitting with another woman, but other than that, she couldn't see anyone else yet. She knew there were more than just the ones here that she'd yet to meet, but was glad there were only a few here now. She wasn't exactly a people person, after all.

Once Brian and Amber had gotten their food, Brian encouraged Rachel to do the same, then went to find a seat near Keiko and Abby. The three sat there in relative silence, each lost in their own thoughts. As Brian was eating, there was the sound of a Pokeball opening, and he looked down to see Aisha standing there, a scowl on her face as she looked up at him. "Don't even think about it, Aisha," he said, his voice firm as the Bagon opened her mouth. There was only a hint of a flame in her mouth, but it was enough to put him on guard. The little Dragon-type had been stubborn and somewhat disobedient since he'd captured her, and even though she'd decided to stay with him to get stronger, she still didn't like him just yet.

"Here, try some of this," he said, picking her up and placing her on his lap as he handed her a piece of bacon. Sniffing the offering suspiciously, the Bagon took a tentative bite, her eyes lighting up at the taste as she immediately shoved half the strip of bacon in her mouth. This prompted Brian to chuckle, happy that she seemed to like it so much. He fed the Bagon from his plate, and it didn't take long for her to get full and stop asking for food. Once she was done, he recalled her to her ball, then looked up to see Rachel looking at him curiously. "Aisha is my newest capture," he said. "She's stubborn as heck, but I've noticed that food seems to mellow her out enough to get her to listen." He didn't say anything about the egg he'd found yet, not wanting to reveal that until it hatched and he knew what it would be.

Crystal spent her time back in HQ buried in books, outside of the first evening back. That time, she took her Pokémon camping. While they were out, she finally explained to them the best she could about what happened back in Galar, and her solo adventures outside of this reality afterwards, illustrating the best she could with… whatever that was that formed when she performed her small Splash. It was about time they all had the full story, especially with how stubborn Apolla had been about her helping with the Ziton. And the Espeon became extremely aware of how risky she had played it just going to it. Overall, though, that night wasn’t a bad night for them.

After that, though, Crystal would find herself in the library, pulling out books to read through them, finding frustratingly little on the subject she was looking for- The Ziton. At this point, if that thing might still be around, she needed as much information as she could get her hands on, and her current body didn’t require proper food. So she spent as much time as she could in here, until her body was letting her mind let her know it was time to rest. By the second day she spent in the library, she was getting frustrated. “Come on, by the Light… There has got to be more information on this thing! Light….” Her head hit the table, grumbling as she closed the latest book she took out. “Light burn me to slag…”

~~~~~~~~~~
Aile wound up spending most of her time after dealing with everything in Paldea either in her room or outside for the past three days, unless she needed something to eat. Being outside was comforting to her at the moment, and she still didn’t feel completely comfortable being around others after being manipulated by the Ziton. The first day after they got back, though, she did go to one of the nearby towns and found a place that sold bows and any necessary accessories, though she did wind up getting strange looks with her prosthetic sand arm. She would return to Mt Silver with a bow and a quiver full of arrows, taking a place a decent ways away from a tree. Her right hand would hold the bow while she’d grab the arrows and pull them with her left, reacquainting herself with archery also letting her practice with her hand and how to use it precisely. She’d gotten a general idea from that event and reviewing her memories, however distasteful, but now it was time to practice precise motions, and in the past, at least, archery was also good for her to help clear her mind. Her shots when she started after arriving back were fairly off, but as she acquainted herself with archery again, her shots started to group tighter. Her hand also was shifting as well, at first resembling a generic hand but over the days of practice wound up looking like an identical version of her right hand, but with the fingernails being emerald green from the green gem shards. The color of the arm itself wasn’t exactly right either, but it was much closer than before as well.
Tatooine would be practically attached to Aile as well, learning what was going through her head when she was effectively the Ziton’s toy. This only made her more protective of Aile, refusing to return to her Pokéball now. Not that Aile was complaining about it. At this point, Tati was practically Aile’s emotional support Flygon.
Today, Aile’s practice was going decently well, the grouping of her shots getting tighter. They were all on the tree, at least. With a large sigh, she walked up to the tree selected for the day and began to pull the arrows out one by one, examining the tips before putting them back into her quiver. “Already looking like they’re wearing down… You think we’re going to have to get some more arrows?”
“Gooooon.” Tati shrugged, not exactly sure herself. She wasn’t the one that shot arrows for competitions back in school. “Flygon fly fly gon?”
“A break? I mean, I’m not doing this every second of the day…” Aile replied, putting away the last arrow. She’d switch the hand the bow was in, then began to shake her right hand, wincing slightly. “You’d think only holding the bow wouldn’t put as much strain on my wrist.” Aile looked over to Tatooine only to get an unamused look as a reply to that statement. “.... Fine. You might be right. What else do we do in the meantime, though?”
“Gon? Fwy gon.”
“Tati… Working on the archery has been how I’ve been keeping my mind from jumping back to… all that. I thought I had put my past behind me, but it seems it still has a way of biting me in the a**.” Turning on her heel, Aile would lean against the tree before sliding down it. “And now, it's hard to silence all the voices without busying myself. And being here at HQ, there’s more downtime here than there would be at the school.”
“Fly gon gon fwy?” Tati would make her way over next to her trainer and sat down next to her, looking with concern at Aile.
“Talk with someone? Like who? Any standard therapist would probably wonder what the hell I was doing with my life, if not just completely disbelieve me, and anything Snagem related, I’m the least of their concern. Aden burned himself out, and Tristen still hasn’t woken up. My method currently is at least better than what I initially wanted to do. I doubt you’d approve of me getting blackout drunk at a bar.” Aile thought for a moment tilting her head. “...That still doesn’t sound like completely horrible of an idea.”
“Gon!” Aile would get a light thwack with Tati’s wing, the Flygon leering at her trainer.
“I mean… I kind of don’t want to think. Arceus, Uxie’s offer continues to sound good. I wish there weren’t others relying on us back then.” Aile let out a long sigh as Tati continued to stare at her. Arceus, her trainer wasn’t in a good way.
Lykas guided Odd into the main room and helped him sit down on the couch, handing him a glass of water and a bottle. "Here... Doc Owl said to make sure you take this twice a day until the wound heals." He told the Channeler.
"I'm not helpless, Lykas." Odd sighed, holding his hand out to take the bottle of pills his fiance was handing him. "Giratina's wings... It's massive. How exactly am I expected to even fit this in my mouth?"
"It's a pill bottle, you dork. Open it and take one." Lykas replied, rubbing his face in mild frustration. Odd had been acting like nothing was different ever since they got back but he kept running into anything that wasn't alive. It was clear the Ghost Channeler wasn't completely blind but he definitely couldn't see most things.
"I already told you, I'm fine."
"No. You aren't." Lykas snapped back, growling softly as he did. "You. Are. Blind." He asserted to the other man. "You may not be completely blind, but you clearly can't see anymore. You need to accept that and and start working on adjusting to this sooner rather than later."
Odd grimaced. "I can't." He admitted, fumbling with the pill bottle in his hand for a moment before he found the top and figured out how to open it. "How can I just accept that my normal vision is gone? Especially when we've only just brought a child into our lives?!" He demanded, carefully finding a single pill in the bottle and removing it. Lykas handed him a glass of water as he placed the pill in his mouth.
"Here. Take a drink." The hybrid told him as he took the bottle back with his ponytails. "I understand that it's upsetting. I can't imagine just how you must be feeling about it but the reality is that you got a major injury and all you can do is try to move forward from it."
"Move forward?! I'll never see your face again. I'll never see any of my friends or comrades faces again. I'll never see Libelle grow up!" Odd retorted, almost choking on the water as he finished swallowing the pill he'd be made to take. "Why am I even taking these, by the way?"
"Did you forget already? Doc Owl said they're antibiotics to make sure you don't get an infection that could make it even worse while you heal. If you heal..." Lykas replied. ignoring Odd's anguish for the moment. "We'll have plenty of time to talk about the other stuff later... For right now, just hang out here and try to relax. I'll be back in a few minutes. Libelle should be waking up any minute and I don't want to leave her to Mykel for too long. She'll need breakfast so I'll come get you and we can all go get something to eat together this morning, ok?"
"Why bother? It's not like I eat much of anything anymore..." Odd remarked, clearly upset.
"Because you're still human and if we're going to raise a child, she needs to see her parents behaving like regular people. That includes her zombie dad eating normal food. At least a little of it."Lykas snapped back, glaring at Odd for a moment before his expression softened. Odd wasn't taking his injury well, clearly. He knew it wouldn't be long before the man started to lash out until he accepted this as his new "normal". And that was concerning. Odd had always been the more level-headed of the two of them but he'd also never been put in a situation quite like this. Lykas had gone through a traumatic near-death experience when he was young and still bore the spiral scar on his back as the mark of his survival but he'd gone through a similar series of emotional ups and downs as he wrestled with the trauma back then.
Odd would do the same and would eventually end up alright. But for now? He needed compassion and he needed grace. Things Lykas was decidedly lacking in most of the time. Most of the time, it wasn't his fiance, however, and he was willing to put every ounce of his energy into being better than that for Odd right now. Finally walking off as Odd sat on the couch, he'd walk back to their shared room, having discussed things with Sub upon returning and getting a larger space so they could set up some things for Libelle. The hybrid found his Gardevoir sitting in the floor of their room, a barely conscious infant cradled in his arms and the both of them cooing sofly at one another.
"You took to being a nanny faster than I thought you would." Lykas teased the Fairy-type.
"Well duh. She's adorable. How would I not love her immediately?" Mykel asked, standing up as Lykas approached, carefully transferring the infant into her father's arms.
"I never expected you wouldn't, honestly." Lykas replied with a quiet laugh. "Come on. Odd's in the main room waiting for us. Let's go get him and we'll all go get breakfast." He nodded toward the door as he spoke. "Can you bring her bottle kit?" The hybrid asked, taking the first few steps and waiting to see if Mykel needed any help.
"Yeah! No problem!" He assured, telekinetically grabbing the requested kit from the top of the bookshelf by the door and following Lykas as he head back toward the main room.
The trio would return only a few minutes after Lykas had first left, the infant snuggled into Lykas' chest and breathing deeply, not quite letting out small snores as she did. "Odd's on the couch. Give him a hand getting into the kitchen, will you?" Lykas requested of Mykel, using his ponytail to point toward the Ghost Channeler. Mykel nodded and walked over.
"Hi, Mykel. I'm guessing Lykas is having you be my eyes?" Odd questioned, sounding hurt.
"How'd you know-?"
"It was you? Or that you were there?" Odd asked, smirking. "I keep telling Lykas I'm not helpless." Was all he said in response, standing up and taking half a step, only to trip over the coffee table immediately. Mykel gasped and grabbed him mid fall with his psychic power, setting him back on his feet.
"Not completely helpless." Mykel corrected. "You need to learn to read your surroundings without your eyes now..." The Grdevoir remarked, taking Odd's arm and beginning to guide him. "There's no shame in accepting offered help while you adjust, Odd." He chided gently.
"This isn't being offered... It's being forced." Odd snapped back, angry that he couldn't just walk himself to the kitchen like usual.
"It's the same thing for now. Just accept it and as soon as you stop tripping over literally everything that's not alive, we'll let you walk around on your own again." Lykas hissed at him, trying not to upset Libelle as he did. "Now come on. It sounds like Deo made food for... as many people as possible, I guess? We'e gonna go get some of it and try to adjust to all this."
Odd grimaced, the gash across his eyes hurting as his face scrunched up, causing him to flinch and release the tension he desperately wanted to use to hold the expression. The new dads walked into the kitchen with Lykas carrying baby Libelle and Mykel holding onto Odd's arm, guiding the Channeler to the table. "What's for breakfast?" Lykas asked as he took Libelle's bottle kit to the sink and began to prepare one for her, beyond thankful for the extra imbs his ponytails allowed him to use.
Deo was in the midst of finishing his plate of 3 waffles with butter and syrup, 10 pieces of bacon, and 4 eggs. That was when abby showed up. He did not even acknowledge her Prescence other than putting her plate of rice, chicken, and egg (all made according to her region) in front of her and a Soda common to her region beside of her, along with silverware. After which, he went to the far side of the table, and sat down. He ate rather slowly, knowing that he was exhausted. He hoped that more people would show, but he knew that there were sick, so he brought out his psyduck. "Xavier, can you take a tray to the med wing to Doc Owl and come back? Please and Thank You" The psyduck sensed the exhaustion in Deo. So it nodded and took a tray, slowly, to the med wing to Doc Owl. Where it would proceed to come back afterward.
"Oh, sweet! Thanks!" Absinthe said happily as Deo delivered a plate to her. She wouldn't have been ready to get up and get her own plate for a few minutes at least, and as a bonus, she happened to like the kind of food he brought her, too! This was a good start to making amends with the young Deathrage, but he'd have to talk to her to fully cross that bridge. Keiko, on the other hand, looked worriedly toward the main lobby. She could hear Odd and Lykas talking, and it was clear the former had gotten injured enough to lose his sight. Both Keiko and I saw the both of them as good friends, and while she couldn't help but worry for them, she also dreaded telling me about it - knowing I'd get inquisitive and that she wouldn't know the whole story from just listening. Though she didn't want to pester Odd with questions, either, since he was already taking the situation pretty badly from what she could hear.
That was about the time I stepped into the kitchen with Rala levitating by my side, as there was no reason for me to keep her in her ball while we were in HQ. This was her home just as much as it was mine. She'd wave to Mykel, who would likely react to seeing her up and about. Brunor made the Emerald Coven aware of Rala's injury and subsequent treatment, and with Rala's heart crystal shining a radiant blue instead of the dull gray it had been from the extremely powerful dose of Shadow Virus she got from XD002's infection of the Fairy Realm, the male Gardevoir would certainly have a visible reaction to her.
Meanwhile, I couldn't help but focus on Odd and Lykas, the latter having obviously been injured. I hadn't seen him since I returned to Paldea, so I had no idea when or how this happened to him. Despite the look of concern on my face, I didn't react verbally - I could sense the annoyance he was feeling and didn't want to add on to that. Lykas would be able to see the look on my face and likely figure out what I wanted to ask, though. I sat down nearby, and immediately noticed Keiko sitting next to me. She must have gotten up to greet me while I noticed what happened to Odd, but I was too focused on that to notice her until now.
Tsuki the Lunar Wind
Newbie Noob
PostPosted: Thu Dec 26, 2024 12:53 am
Tsuki really wished that his first time in years being back at the HQ would have been more exciting than this.
After getting everything sorted with Reno, Arturo, Aile, and Wren over in Paldea regarding the mushroom situation, his uncle had finally gotten ahold of him and (after giving him a crushing bear hug) let it slip that something had happened to his parents. Tsuki had probed at that obviously until his uncle finally gave in and let him know that his parents had been in Orre during Ein’s takeover and had lost their lives in the chaos. Both he and his aunt were waiting until he graduated from the academy to tell him, some kind of way of protecting his childhood or whatever, but the massive school brawl had made him slip up. He didn’t really know what to feel in that moment- he didn’t really know what to feel now. So he instead put himself on autopilot and braced for the funeral his family was finally going to have next month. The teenager quietly groaned at the HQ’s door and swiveled his head to the left just to see a lone trainer standing alone atop a mountain.
“BROTHER, PUT ON A JACKET FOR ONCE!” Tsuki yelled at him from afar.
“…” The trainer replied.
Tsuki exhaled as much stress as he could manage before shaking his head and walking into the Snagem HQ. He was only here to figure out his room situation, get the wifi password from somebody so that he could do his classes online next year, and get out. Technically he didn’t even need to do this right now but he just needed to not be in Paldea right now. However, he would probably be back by the end of the day. He put up a hand and pet the Magby on his shoulder as he explored the common area. The smell of breakfast food hit him like a truck yet he powered on and passed by only to spot the office space immediately.
Keiko and Yuna caught his eye, the boy doing a double take at them. They were all having kids now? What? Tsuki looked down and wondered when all of the adults were going to be a foot in the grave with how far they were in their lives at they were breeding. A shiver went up his spine. “‘Scuse me…” he said, shuffling past them.
There were of course rows of open computers for members to access but Tsuki opened up his own laptop. A quick walk around the room found him the password and a few clicks of his keyboard saved it onto his device. He gave Sub a little wave before he promptly shut it, put it in his bag, and started to head out to where he remembered where the bedrooms were.
However, Tsuki stopped at the door and walked back to the admin. “Before I forget, here, I caught this girly thinking you’d like her. Be careful though, she’s feisty, she’s tried killing me like…” He exchanged glances with his Magby. “Twice now? Anyways, I’m just here to get situated and then finish up my semester in Paldea. Clavell is letting me do online classes next year so I’ll be around.” Then he placed Rowena’s Pokeball on his desk and, as quickly as he walked in, Tsuki walked out with the purpose of someone who could not let themselves be still for a single moment. You couldn’t dwell if you didn’t give yourself time to dwell.
The bedrooms were near the office space thankfully and Tsuki remembered well enough where his old room here had been so finding it didn’t take too long. Lacking a key, he used one of the skills being cousins with Allen Blake afforded: he pulled out his ID and popped the lock open. Neat. He peeked in and saw the empty dorm. It wasn’t surprising but it was a little disappointing. A part of him wanted to see spider cobwebs and fallen movie posters scattered on the floor. But he supposed three years of absence warranted clearing the space out. He didn’t dare sit down, worried that all of the pent up energy would turn to exhaustion if he did. Instead he walked up to the white board on a wall and wrote ‘TSUKIS ROOM DO NOT TOUCH’ on it with a dry erase marker. He’d be damned in the Distortion World before he let someone take his room.
He still remembered the last day he had been in here. Tsuki had swapped out the sugar for salt in the common room coffee area and had been involuntarily selected to handle a mission about Team Samurai causing havoc in Goldenrod City. After that, he had taken a detour for Kanto and stopped in Pewter to try his hand at the Kanto Gym Challenge. The rest was history. He wondered how that other Tsuki was faring nowadays. Maybe trying to get ahold of the guy would be a good idea. “Alright…” he said to himself before readjusting the backpack on the shoulder opposite to Maggie’s perch and headed out.
It was then that he noticed the tail end of an Applin scooting his way into the kitchen. “God damn it, Snapdragon please!” He yelled before giving chase. If Arceus gave any Applin speed, they gave it to Tsuki’s for this one moment. He slip across the HQ floor before walking in and not seeing head or tail of his Pokemon. The trainer squinted his eyes and scanned the room. If any keen eyed Snagems had caught sight of the dragon type, misbehaving in a way not dissimilar to Brian’s Bagon, they’d have seen him force his way into a lower snack cabinet.
“Hey uhhhh, did anybody see an oversized Applin? Your stashes of food are on the line here.”
