Corbin's fingers were pressed lightly against the spot not far from the spine so that he would pull it out. But the bump close to him induced an annoyed look from the raven himself. he would have yelled at the other if it wasn't for the tired expression on the visage, more so with the dark circles under the eyes. Corbin resorted to another way instead to express his concern, though the words were a bit harsh.
"Pulling out an all-nighter at something? I can tell that from your face. No use hiding it." Sure enough, being an assassin meant that he could see anything clearly with his sharp senses. The body language was even an indication on how the target would react at the sight of him.

"Hmm... bird research? If that can help, I understand the nature of birds myself." It was partially due to the fact that he was a raven himself, though he chose not to say it out loud just yet. Being an assassin also led him to read the mood of his targets. His expression remained mostly unchanged when the man revealed his name, though there was a sliver of the smile. It was because he found the name to be an interesting one.
"A pleasure to meet you, Alfons, with the name being unfamiliar to me yet sounding nice. My name's Corbin. I'll let it slide since it's an accidental encounter." He then shifted to find another book. "I assume that you are a new resident of this city, correct?"

This current Saturday at Bookworm's would be slow because of the weather announcement, advising the people to stay indoors. Not that the half-demon would mind that there would be rain showers later on in the afternoon. The rain was nature's way of delivering water to the world, and it was a necessity for his magic spells. For him, it was one perfect set-up so that he would harness the power that he inherited from Paimon, his biological father.
However, since Casey was no longer working there, there was an open job application available for being a cashier at the bookstore. Recently, someone else had taken it, and the British blond was now curious as to whom would be the new co-worker. As he retreated back to the employee area for a cup of hot tea from the thermos that he usually carried, memories of his past flashed back in his head. Snowy hair, light blue eyes, as well as the pale skin. They were a blur, different before he met Yosuke and fell in love with him and the fashion designer met his untimely death. Indeed, that was a mistake, and he should move on. At least Crevan was lucky that he reconciled with Angel and they went back together, unlike the blond whose first love was claimed by Death's grip.
The British man sighed and sipped the tea. Who knows if he would see the vampire from back then again after all this time? He was someone who was his companion, a small silver lining to his dark childhood days before things went south for both of them. Years had passed since then, and his life had been slightly better, but perhaps, fate would once again deploy some unexpected surprises for him.

ENDO V. DAIS
$300 with him, $700 in bank | Bookworm's ( working ) | with Benjamin Harris | Doing my job ( cashier )
xxxThe chimes hung along the doors of the bookstore's entrance rang as Endo stepped in, an unopened umbrella in his hand in preparation for any coming showers. Getting ready for his first day on the job, the young man donned a white, collared shirt along with some black jeans and formal-ish sneakers (they were black as well). His hair was somewhat kept--at least more than it was usually (because he actually combed them today). Breathing in as the door closed behind him, he sighed at the familiar scent of paper. Reading was never his favorite pastime, but now with so many books surrounding him, it may become a nice hobby. Endo was more of a hands-on person. He was never really the type to let himself get lost within the paragraphs for more than just a few minutes. Walking towards the employee's area to get situated, another smell made its way to his sensitive nose. It wasn't of paper, but of a person he had known a while back ... back when his mother had still been together with her second husband, Endo's stepfather (and that was a while ago). What was the name, again ...? xxxWithout wasting any more time, the young man walked in, and the name came to the face immediately. The two turned around to face each other (the other one mid-sip), and Endo could recognize those blue eyes, and that blond hair, anywhere (as well as the sniff of his blood, that was usually the indicator). A smile crept its away long his face, the memories sinking in. To think that the two of them would meet in a place like this! xxx"Ben! It's really you! Ha!" Endo beamed, walking towards the lockers, and stuffing his umbrella inside one quickly so as to begin a conversation right away (and rather excited), "It's been a decade (and a few years)! How have you been?" He closed the compartment gently and made his way to sit in front of his co-worker, waiting for his reply, noticing the cup of tea that was still in his hand.

And suddenly, he sensed that familiar aura growing closer to proximity until he heard the voice calling out his name. Ben's eyes were wide with surprise. This can't be... Is that? The blond shifted his head, only to notice that he was finally here, the friend who had been by his side in the past. God, he had forgotten that he had fed him before with his blood due to being famished, which was why the vampire would track down his scent.
"E-endo? Oh my, it's a pleasure to see you again! Definitely, it has been more than a decade since we last saw each other." There was a smile crossing his features; he was truly overjoyed by the reunion. The half-demon finished sipping his tea before fetching an extra paper cup from the shelf that was usually used for coffee and tea breaks. "I have a feeling that you have been newly hired as the cashier, correct?" he asked while pouring the tea into that cup and handing it over to the dhampir. A warm beverage would definitely help as a companion for the conversation. "Sweetened with natural honey. It's a trick of mine for a delicious tea."

ENDO V. DAIS
$300 with him, $700 in bank | Bookworm's ( working ) | with Benjamin Harris | Hanging out then work.
xxxAs Benjamin poured Endo's drink, the young half-vampire chuckled lightly at the coincidence. To think that out of all the things that could have happened, the two would be reunited at the place he was running away to. It was just a tad melancholy, but it's nice to have someone to know in an unfamiliar place nonetheless. There was really no one else he knew besides the blonde at the beach: Hope Valentine. "Yeah," he began, "I just got to Soleil, so I had been looking for a job around the place. I'm glad I chose this store. What a lucky circumstance, huh?" Leaning back on his chair, Endo, now feeling comfortable at his new job, thanked Ben for the cup, and took small sips due to the heat it emanated. Just as he remembered; his friend really had a knack for making good tea. xxx"I'll keep that in mind." Endo responded, in regards to comment about adding the natural honey, "This is terribly delicious. Perfect for the weather." Does Ben usually get here a little bit earlier to have a drink in peace like this? Endo should really take up a lesson or two from that. The young vampire was always such a busy-body, never really taking any time for himself to sit down at relax. This was due to his work at the bakery for his mother. Now, with just the two of them calmly sharing this moment together, he was able to find a few minutes of solace. This kind of feeling was different from when Endo is at the beach. Though it had been relaxing there, as well, it was kind of lonely. xxx"So, how have you been all these years?" he asked innocently, truly curious about what had been going on in Ben's life as the two finished their tea and began to prepare themselves for customers, You seem well. There's a bit of a softness in your eyes now, compared to before. And, you are a lot less paler. Your blood circulation appears normal. You've been eating well." He smiled teasingly as the two of them waltzed out of the break room together to begin working. Endo could tell from the sight of Ben's veins running through his neck. They were healthy-looking. Perhaps, now his blood would taste a lot fuller, less iron-deficient, though he wouldn't dare try. The young half-vampire wasn't fond of drinking out of bodies, though he did try Ben's. After that exchange, they continued joking about like that as time slipped through. Yes, when customers came, they took their duties seriously and worked hard, but, before they knew it, their shift was over, and they were both in the break room once again. Endo, not wanting to part, began to wonder if they could still continue to hang out aside from working. xxx"Are you, perhaps, free after this?" Endo instigated as he pulled out his umbrella from the locker, "We should celebrate our reunion with something to eat. We can come by my place for some food. I know how to make a mean cobbler for dessert." he chuckled as he awaited Ben's response, twirling his umbrella around excitedly, pulling from the string attached to the end of the handle.

"Definitely. And yes, you won't regret working here for a long time. Though customers would be sometimes difficult to handle with." Not a day would go by without someone throwing a fuss over something, but he had gotten used to those situations even until now. Also, he was glad that the dhampir enjoyed the taste, so he had to add up. "I actually have orange blossom for now. I'll make sure to check the other varieties soon." It would all depend on how much stuff he would receive in the next care package courtesy of his adoptive parents.
Time had passed on between the two after the tea break and Endo was questioning about his life ever since the British man moved to Soleil. Ben went on with his usual notions, but he replied nonetheless. "Mostly thanks to my new family that took care of me before moving here. Plus, meditation and other relaxation exercises help also." Maybe Endo should try them out, but it would depend if he would also be interested in them. As soon as both were done with the shift, Benjamin was putting on his coat and boots. The dhampir was then asking about the next plan after they were done with work. He fetched his umbrella from his own locker and closed it, keeping the lock secure. "Yep. Nothing else to do after this, so I'm down for this idea. Today's the good day to catch up on things."
And with that, he gestured the other to the exit, all while closing the store for the day. With the current weather, it would be most unlikely that more customers would be coming in. All that mattered was that Benjamin would enjoy the next activities with his friend by his side. Heck, he even pedaled on the way out, all while the other man was sauntering close to him.

Xeven continued to flip through the pages with a small smile on his face. The large green man was surprisingly enjoying the read though he'd have to admit it wasn't anything like he was expecting. Was the human past really filled with such strife? It was a bit confusing, for with a planet with such a short workable history they sure got a lot done but that is what made this planet so interesting, he just never knew it was like this. The files he got from The Athena were corrupted so he was forced to learn of this place on his own. It was massively impressive.
The A.I. tied to his command device began to pop in however, the alien creature a mass of writhing tentacles surrounding a single large eye. It looked into the book as well "Sooo...whats a Chitauri? They must have been a nasty race but I've never heard of them before. I guess this sector really does have its own problems even with the Athena here." it looked to the large green man. He actually looked confused about it as well. It was pretty strange, he'd never heart of them but apparently the Earthlings had been dealing with them at some point.
Xeven put the book in his bag as he continued to go around shopping looking for what he thought were proper historical records. Surprisingly enough only one of the books he got so far was. The AI continued to float about "This planet has a very interesting history for being such a primitive place."

The beautiful android absolutely adored books. She loved reading them and enjoyed creating her own plots. She knew the struggle of deadlines and editors that most authors faced, and she hoped that one day her books would be sold in a store much like this. However that would be unlikely, as her particular writing genre was considered taboo in some areas, and just never seemed to sell anywhere outside of a store that sold comic books and other assorted novels. She honestly couldn't see the problem. Reading about two men who were passionately in love, was way better than reading a story of the same plot with a man and a woman as the lead roles. If she'd wanted to write about a heterosexual couple doing it, she'd go out and experience it herself, which is what she advised most readers of erotica to do. Sunati bit her lower lip as she browsed through the various books the store had to offer. What was she in the mood for? Definitely something with a strong male lead. Something that could give her a few more story ideas. Maybe something to do with an alien?
Scarlett eyes slowly wandered from the bookshelves to another customer of the store. Near her was an odd looking male who was not only giant in size, his skin was green! Absently, she wondered if he'd be willing to model for her. She could definitely see him as an alien. She'd pair his character off with a strong male who was of the tsundere-type and was supposed to be dedicated to killing off any unearthly invaders. Sure, the plot was a bit cliché, but she could work on that. Sunati allowed her thoughts to stray as she stared at the weird customer. It wasn't until some weird creature popped up, seemingly from nowhere, that she actually stopped staring and ventured closer. Because of their proximity, she was able to overhear the words spoken, and couldn't help chuckling. Was he looking for books on Earth's history? She didn't question why, just as she didn't dwell on his odd appearance and the weird floating creature. She just accepted what she saw and adapted. Since the situation in and of itself was so utterly ridiculous to her, she felt that she should help the poor guy out. He was obviously clueless about many things. Leaning against the bookcase beside him, she folded her arms across her chest and grinned, her eyes dancing with amusement.
"If you're researching history, you're way off the mark there... Let's see..."
Sunati plucked the book from his grasp and scanned its contents, her amusement with the whole situation growing by the second. Had this man no clue of the difference between fiction and nonfiction books? That was actually kind of cute. She decided to toy with him just a little.
"I suggest.... This!"
Eyes alight with mischief, Sunati held out one of her own copies of a historic BL novel. She wondered if he'd see through her deception, or if he was ignorant enough to believe her. The novel in question was about a modern man who was in love, but after an accident, every time he went to sleep, he would travel back in time and would meet his lover's very different reincarnations throughout each timeline. It was one of her favourites.

Xeven continued to search through the books about human history, or at least, what he thought was human history. He truly wished The Athena learned to send files properly to prevent this type of thing but he was fine with doing his own research as he was already doing so on Earths rather extreme number of diseases and sickness for his job at the hospital. Honestly Earth had a very long way to go to catch up with the rest of the universe in many regards, but they sure knew how to make history interesting. It was a confusing history, but an interesting one none-the-less.
"I'm filing a complaint commander. I swear they did this on purpose! Our computers are at least is several million years above Earth's computer technology how did they manage to corrupt simple data!?"
The green man only gave a silent shrug, still picking out books. He had well over $100 dollars for it so far and was about to pick up more when a voice caught his attention. It was a woman.
"Maybe we should requisition info from the Annunaki. They would know a lot about this planet since they helped develop it." the AI looked to the woman for a moment, its tentacles stalling for a moment before it began to move again "Oh look one of the local life-forms! Greetings!"
Xeven gave a bright and friendly smile at Sunati, though wasn't speaking yet as she seemed to be trying to help him. He was curious what else he might need though happy to have her help. She produced a novel, it looked historic enough. And a smart as he was, his unfamiliarity with the customs and nature of Earth kept him at a stark disadvantage to pointing certain things out. Earth had changed a lot from the molten rock it was when he was last here to collect some data.
He looked at the book before he began to broadcast his thoughts to her "Thank you very much!" he spoke into her head, if she was receptive of course. It didn't matter her race, which he knew Earth had many sub-sets, she just had to have an open mind to hear his mental speech. He began to read it, staring at it for a bit. He actually seemed to be into it "Oh this is an interesting account. Its interesting to know Earthlings have also made use of the temporal ways even if by accident and for such an innocent...Oh" he kept reading, actually able to go through it quite fast, faster than most were capable of reading though came to a stop at a certain point.
"Wow, so they work similarly to your physical shell in that way too. That good information we can share with command. Do they also resonate while its going on or....?"
"....Well you Earthlings are nothing if not descriptive." it was clear he got to a certain point "Uhm, thank you for your help miss..?" he had not realized her trick at all.

The pale android seemed taken aback when the floating, tentacle-thingy greeted her. Her scarlet eyes blinked slowly as she accepted what she saw and processed it. It was exceedingly rare for her to come across another like herself, an AI. Though it made her wonder, had she been like that at some stage? She searched through her memory files and found that her answer was a negative. She had always been as she appeared now: a beautiful woman in her twenties. She was thankful that she hadn't been created with tentacles, though she didn't voice this thought aloud. She didn't wish to offend. Suddenly coming to her senses under the realisation that she was staring, Sunati returned the greeting with a small, elegant nod of her head. "Greetings." Returning her attention to the green male, she hid a smile behind her hand. He was so clueless, it was kind of cute. Endearing, even.
The petite woman gave a start at the voice broadcasting in her mind. It was on pure reflex alone that she waved away his thanks. Was he some sort of... Physic? Cool! Her eyes lit up like Christmas lights. She should definitely turn her fledging idea into a story. Perhaps it wouldn't be one of her more popular ones, but it would appeal to Sci-Fi fans. Hmm..
The man's obliviousness to her little trick actually made her feel a little guilty, although it was worth it to see his reactions. How amusing! She actually laughed out loud, clutching her stomach in an effort to hold herself up when her laughter threatened to get the best of her. She eventually settled and when she'd sobered a little, she straightened, wiping her eyes in case of tears. Her skin held a healthy glow and a light flush, her eyes dancing with humour. She tried to wipe the smile from her face but was unsuccessful.
"Sorry. I'm afraid that you've been deceived. That isn't really a historical novel, however some parts of the story are true. Say, do you know the difference between fiction and nonfiction? "
Sunati resolved to help the man in his search as a means of apology for her trickery. And maybe, if she was lucky, she could convince him to model for her. Perhaps she could pair his physique up with Cecil's? Though she doubted the hacker would agree... Blackmail was always an option. Or there were other fish in the sea. She should definitely start looking around for future models, otherwise she'll eventually end up in a rut. That voice cut through her thoughts once more and her gaze flew up to meet his.
" I'm sorry, what? Oh. I'm Sunati. You can keep the book by the way."
She said cheerfully, beaming at the odd couple before her. A green man and a floating octopus (?).

This woman was a curious one for sure. Her manner of expressions were certainly strange, at least to them as they were unfamiliar with the mannerisms of Earth on the level another one might be. It was hard to control the movements of a humanoid figure with that of an arachnid who ate peoples brains. Perhaps they should spend more time studying those in order to better communicate physically.
The two exchanged glances when the woman seemed to laugh, a bit confused for a moment before she seemed to explain what it was she had done. The two were quiet for a moment before they began to laugh along with, clearly not bothered by her little deception. Admittedly for all either of them knew, they were easily roped into this but it clearly wasn't malicious. Xeven himself was smiling "Aye, well you got me. I commend you." he gave her a kind bow for it. When questioned on his linguistic knowledge he shook his head "I'm afraid not, its not necessarily a set of words we've encountered." he answered her though he didn't move to give her back to the book yet.
XYVY began to search for definitions which she returned in just under a second "Fiction is an invention or fabrication as opposed to fact. What this means to literature or rather information is a fake story where as non-fiction is based in truth. Well then!" she logged the info as the mass of tentacles writhed ceaselessly "We....have made grave errors commander. I'm asking the Annunaki for information so we can hopefully avoid this stuff. Speaking of..." she began a scan of the things they got.
Xeven shook his head "Ah well then, chalk that up to a failure of information relay." he said rubbing the back of his head as he looked to Sunati who introduced herself. Xeven smiled at her "It is nice to meet you Sunati, I am Xeven Tele'Krasus." he introduced before her heard a little beep from the AI on his wrist.
"So must of what we have is non-fiction. 75% to be specific commander. We will remedy this." the writhing mass of slimy data said before turning to Sunati "And you! Well played for an Earthling..you must be a hunter type. May I scan you?"
Xeven nodded and began to put most of the books back though he kept the one she had given him in a show of good faith. He looked to her "So have you come here seeking novels as well? Or do you normally hang about to find people to place tricks on?" he asked her, clearly not upset but more curious now. It was rather to funny to him so there was no way he was angry about it. The book was pretty interesting all things considered.
