James smiled and nodded lightly, and then looked at his arm, and gave Jelena a small kiss on the cheek.

"Not bad, not bad at all. jut as long as you didn't give it a Rennell personality it'll be fine I think. I don't think I could handle a sunshiney echo."

Jessica was looking at her watch, and smirked at Rennell.

"Rose, please take a seat if you wish. and if you would, Mr. Rennell. come lay down on teh table here and we'll get you put under and begin. This whole procedure shouldn't take by a few hours. five at most. if you systems require a shut down to be worked on that's how long you should shut down for. we can retart you when we're done working on you."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 27, 2005 3:32 pm

Jelena laughed lightly, looking to him from the little floating Echo. "I can't influence it's personality really, but it will probably be quite upbeat given the nature of both animals. But as usual with any new Echo, I just don't know what's going to happen."

She got that thinking look a moment. "Like I don't know if it will bark or meow, seeing as its both canine and feline. Oh that should be quite interesting indeed." Reaching out a hand she keyed the status screen to life, looking things over. Vitals, development percentage, estimated time left, those kinds of things.

He passed a nervous look to Rosey who was still encouraging him to be brave about this all, then looked back to Jessica, even more nervous than ever. But he nodded and walked over to the table. "If we're going to be formal, why not just to with Mr. Cryix..." Good attempt at something but it didn't help him. So he merely laid down on the table on his back, wings splayed out to accommodate the position comfortable as usual. A few hours? Five? He had forgotten how long this all took. "Just...put me out and let's get on with this."

A small grin.

"Or it's going to be an echo with bipolar disease. interesting combinations the two species that most commonly dislike eachother blended into one. So how much longer before your little friend is ready?"

His eyes watched the figure in the tube, and glanced at Jelena

"so thre is a good chance it could be a Echo version of Rennell. Joy."

"Alright, Mr. Cryix."

And Jessica put an mask over hsi nose and mouth, pumping in knock out gas usually used in military/riot situations. they needed more powerful stuff becuase the nano's borke down the other more common gases in teh system far too quickly.

"Just breath deeply. and shutting down your M.A.T.U in 5...4...3...2...1."

She spoke slow, letting the gas take effect as they went about shutting off the MATU, and waiting until Rennell's vitals were stable and he was in REM sleep. then she took a set of skin attaching clamp sets, three arms to each and set them on his face, upon which they pulled back the eyelid of his bioware eye. Tech's mostly monitored hsi vitals while Jessica woudl do all teh work, though one walked to Roselyn and asked her how her blades were doing since her last checkup.

Jessica's deftly popped the bioware eye out of his skull, getting another set of clamps, a set small aray the had a lightsource the attached to the face and what looked like a small eyebrow lengthener and a needle. At this point, Rennell's face looked like an oil drilling complex. the eyes was held out and down near Rennell's mouth, to put soem tension on teh wiring, which she was clamping witht eh eyebrow extender looking thing, while the needle was being used to press a small series of buttons in a sequence to discharge the wires form the small circut board in Rennell's brain that was the eye/brain interface.

"Oh don't be so stereotypical. I've seen cats and dogs get along quite nicely, and are rather loving to each other in fact." A small shrug from her. "But no need to fight on that. But things should be fine, I went over this things genetic coding twelve times to make sure it wouldn't come out badly. And it looks like...oh about two three days, give or take." A blink at the screen. "Says that fur patterns are still developing to their full potential."

Returning the screen back to its home screen where it showed a bounty of other information she looked to James again in that happy aloof fashion that she had about her. "Yes, could be like Rennell. Though I'm sure not as annoying at times."

Rennell was going to have a panic attack. He always did when the mentioning of shutting down his MATU system was mentioned. Mostly because it made him feel heavy and had a rater paralysis like effect on his upper body. Hated it. So his breathing was already deep.

But that was nothing knock out gas didn't take care of. In fact it made him not really care about anything at all. Ah, wondrous gas. Frankly he was quite happy with the darkness that he slipped into at Jessica's counting.

"So two or three days, and Roselyn gets a pet, and we'll see the final result of it. Remind me to be here for that. so I knwo wether or not to avoid her pet as an Echo version of rennell."

A small grin, and then a more serious look for a second.

"So tell me, what exactly on the Cerebus is causing it to go unstable on you? is it the trying to give it three heads part?"

Surgery was going alright, vitals holding just fine, while Jessica wiped blood from around Rennell's eye socket. the old eye sat in a tray, and she had the new eye setup as the old one was, in the clamps. it had been a few hours now, and they had gotten the old one out without much trouble, only a bit of bleeding. Jessica had a infrared pen light in her mouth, shining it down in Rennell's eye socket, while one hand held a wire in a small scissor like clamp, the other holding a special nano syringe with certain nano's specifically designed to attatch these kind of connectors that were far too small and in very sensitive or unable to get to places.

It was getting the wires to the connector without causing any bleeding that was the hard part. one tech was wiping blood from aroudn rennels face and dabbing at places to try and keep things as clean as possible. a bad connection coudl prove deadly. blood conducted electricity like water, and it could electrocute his brain like strapping him into an old electric chair. another tech was wiping Jessica's brow of sweat for the same reason, the others keeping monitor of his vitals and the MATU unit's power supplies and the secondary circulatory system.

"Don't be so paranoid about it James, honestly. Echos are bonding creatures as well, and this little one will be bonding to Rosey, not you. Chances are it may completely snub you and not even care about you, only her." A final look to the Echo there before she turned her full attention to James.

"Yeah, mostly. I've tried a variety of ways to get it to work too. But every time I go to integrate the whole structure collapses on me and all I get is that stupid error message. I guess I need to be more creative or something." An almost defeated look there for a moment.

Rosey sat behind and a little to the side of Jessica, watching Ren. She was quiet but none the less there, just like he had asked her to be. She was perhaps a bit fidgety with watching, sometimes looking down at her sandals and the like. Any techs that happened to come over were given a rather emotionless look and the same answer, 'I'm fine, how's Ren?' That was pretty much the extent of her conversation.

"Did you try three seperate cirulatory systems in the body..after all three heads, brains and instructions for vital systems in teh body might not work. or three spinal collums, just interwoven together in a singular set of vertabrae? seems to me you'd have to biologically wire him like a computer network. a 'main' head, to which the others are connected to in a subset, like computers hooked up to a internet server. Or like my arm and head. there's three processing systems. one that controls the basic movements of my arm, and my memory banks and such. one that controls the targeting systems and sight based systems, as well as the tasters and cannon, and a thrid system that controls teh COIN, including it's subsystem. the COIN and offense systems are slave systems to the memory and arm systems. therefore arm function and my head working come first, then my coin, and then the offesive systems."

This was getting to be a major pain in the a**, and a few times Jessica let out a garbled curse.

"damn hemophiliac. I barely tap him and he starts pooling blood. get the vacuum in there. and get that s**t out before he gets a bad connection that cooks his brain when we try to put this thing online."

Two connections down, three to go. basically the bioelectric converter and the bioware signal carrier. so it had power going to it, and it allowed the brain to interpret what it was seeing. they other three were for the special system for the sound frequency that woudl be a wireless attachment to his gun, and of course motor functions to let the eye move like an eye should in the socket. Techs of course would tell Roselyn he was doing fine, nothing to worry about.

"Bloodpressure is rising."

"counter with adrenaline."

"MATU is trying to reconnect as well."

"I told you to shut it down for five hours."

"I did. but the nano's are taking hte blood in his operation as an emergency overriding situation."

"Then completely disconnect."

Anoher connector down, and another. last one. all connected. Jessica tok the big clamp off with the light source, still holfing the infrared penlight in her mouth and picking up the other needle she used earlier and poked a bit inside his skull.

"Bringing up diagnostics in failsafe. see if this thing works."

A monitor, that had been shut down, sprang to life, showing regular vision and soundwaves and raido frequencies in it. Jessica laid the pen out of her mouth on the table by her.

"great. it didn't cook him by coming online. now lets see the motors."

She poked a bit with teh needle some more, and the eye rotated in the clamps, keeping a great picture.

"wonderful. he's up and ready to go, software works, eye functions like it should. now lets get it back in his skull and we can let his MATU affirm itself and restart. Good job people."

Using the eyelash extending clam the wiries and mirco cables were pushing back into the skull like the normal synapse tendril would be, and the eye carefully put back into the socket, the clamps keeping his eyelids open let go and were put away, Jessica taking off her bloodied gloves and throwing htem out.

"Now we just wait for him to wake up."

Jelena had that absorbing look to her again, where she was basically soaking everything up that he was saying like a sponge. Oh well that was great insight to it."That was the problem, the one DNA helix didn't want to support the multiple structure systems. I've mainly been making three duplicate strands and then halving two and graphing them to the one central."

"But you do have a point there...making it like a computer system with sub servers....that's some damn intense coding though...I'm going to have to break apart what I have and start over again. Though that's not such a bad thing." She tilted her head. "Perhaps I went wrong with completely making it the way I had in the first place..."

First thing that happened? That MATU system took its own measures with Rennell, trying to correct what was wrong with him. Meant the even more nanomachine enriched blood in the unit itself was allowed into his natural circulatory system, causing him to flush and his pulse to rise a considerable amount.

Dangerous to someone else maybe but not him as blood pretty much exchanged itself, of course causing a powering up sound from the MATU's engines, circulating more blood. But that was turned off as Rennell started to wake and his brain told the system he was fine.

He groaned, eyes opening slowly. Lord he felt like he had been drugged. Of course he didn't notice the dramatic change in vision really, hey no static! That was the big thing. Though he was feeling a little drained out from his MATU being itself. His eyes slide to the side to look at Jessica and the other techs who were watching him, his left eye displaying the sounds of their breathing at the like. He was still a bit out of it.

"I'd be happy to help with it, you know that. Maybe my...user friendly knowledge of computer systems might come in handy for this particular project of yours. by the way, if I remember right, Cerebus was incredibly large. bigger then a Fenrir. you trying for that kind of size? and if so where you going to put it?"

A small grin watching her go over what he said, working with it, and actually thining he might be right.

Jessica watched Rennell, and looked at her team.

"Jolt his system, knock off tht drowsy half dead effect of those drugs."

Two patched applied to his chest with lubricant, and wham, a nice volt. more than enough to wake someone up if they needed to be woken up.

She got that rather paranoid look to him again at the mentioning of him joining her in that lab where she did all of her coding of genetics. Very few people had been in that room when she was working. Ah, a scientists paranoia. But as fast as that look came, it went. Easy come easy go with Jelena.

"Either that or I'll be putting in a request to Metamorphosis for permission to look over some of their early schematic works." A slight shrug then a sigh. "Size...has always been an issue. The Fenrirs are the only Echos or massive proportions that achieved that. My dragons for example are quite small to how they should be, my griffins as well."

She idly brushed a hand through her hair. "OF course I'll try for that size and see if I can manipulate it to happen. But if not that's quite okay. On the upbeat chance that it goes right, I would have to bring it to a certain stage of growth then let the rest happen naturally." Then she gave him a knowing smile. "And I have bigger pens than the one the Fenrirs inhabit. There's still a lot of empty space on this cruiser."

Jolt awake indeed. He cringed and then twitched as that haze was roughly thrown off of him or rather shocked out of him. Good lord, what was she impatient about him waking up? "C-crap woman..."

He sat up slowly, blinking as his brain was taking to adjusting to the new sight in his left eye and figuring how to work thinks out and how to assess displays that it thought was important for him to know. Ren simply stared a moment, looking around like a child might actually. "Holy cow..."

"I thought so. and if you want early schematics, I can get those for you, no problem. Be happy to help how I can. You know, Rennell might be done by now, let me check."

A step over to a GODD, and a press of the button.

"Rennell, this is James. make it to your appointment?"

Jessica nodded lightly.

"Yes, yes. crap woman. now take a look with your new eye, and see how well you can get to all teh vision modes and accesses. if anything seems to be running slow or is fuzzy, let me know I got some nanos that can correct minor issues like that."

Then James' voice on the GODD, and she pressed the button in response.

"He was on time, James, and he's all done. just doing the post surgery checkouts and then you can see how long it takes before your dragging him back here again."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 27, 2005 8:23 pm

"Well if you can bypass all that nasty paperwork that I would normally have to file, I'd greatly appreciate it. Heck that will buy you a third date right there my dear James."

Though she looked up out of habit as voices exchanged themselves over the GODD system about Rennell. Well, good to know he didn't go through some major trauma or anything. "Well, seems Rennell will be up and annoying you in no time next time he sees you then, won't he?" Said of course with a reserved laugh.

Now came the cut off of goofing and the emergence of actual focused concentration. He looked around the room a moment before his eyes settled on Rosey, of course with a smile. There when he went out and there when he woke up. And now the test subject.

It was easy enough to access functions from his old knowings and the like, and it only took a moment to access any new features. Normal sound wave filled vision, infrared, different display modes of sound, targeting screen for his gun. Oh lord he would have too much fun with this.

"I must have been blind before...I haven't seen things this clear in...a good two, three years." And there it was, he was getting ecstatic about it all. "Really this is...like brand new again." Oh the impending happy. "This is great Jessica, thanks."

James chuckled lightly.

"Anything in Metamorphosis I can get you paperwork free. And so nice to know it got me a third date when we haven't really had the first one yet."

then a shrug and a nod.

"Hopefully he won't annoy me since he owes my team for it. More than likely he's going to be wandering around like a two year old trying out all the new gadgets nad functions in the thing for a good three weeks.

Jessica nodded.

"I told you I was the best in the field. that also has some self correcting programs built in, so I won't have to go back in there anytime soon. you bleed to easy to make it a habit of doing that kind of work in there. I got all the customizations that you wanted, and yu should be good to go. and remeber your promise. no more missed appointments."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 27, 2005 8:46 pm

"Well all that means is that you're guaranteed up to a third date with me. That is if we don't find extreme dislike in each other for some reason or another. Which hasn't happened thus far so we're doing pretty good." Another laugh. "But it's nice to not have to go through all that clearance on paperwork."

She walked from the room now, motioning for him to follow as she often did to anyone really. "Hm...I guess that will keep him occupied for a good while then. Though he'll just be hanging out around here anyway, he liked to bug Rosey more than you."

"In other words when I bonk my head or have an accident I won't have to get thrown back on the workbench to get it fixed. That is going to be heaven on Fleet." He gave her a smile and a nod before he stood up, running a hand through shaggy red hair. "Yeah, stupid hemophilia. Hope I didn't bleed too much on ya. Quite messy at times. But thanks again Jessica and I remember my promise. No more missed appointments, in fact I'll be five minutes early."

He winked a her before standing and walking over to Rosey who had stood by this time and grabbed her in a hug. "Thanks for staying Rose bud..." Impending excitement in three, two, one. "Now let's go play around and cause some mischief." And he proceeded to pulls Rosey out, throwing another smiled and thanks to James' team. He'd have to remember to thank James later as well.

He followed behind her, and smiled lightly.

"Paperwork you can bypass, dating or not. you know anything you need from Meta I'll get you. It's not that big a deal to me. and as for Rennell..well I hope he keeps his head on straight, and doesn't get that new implant messed up. and I woudl suggest locking him out of the Echoes again for a bit. you know he's going to want to play with that new eye with them."
