Yeah, I mean I'm pretty sure that we can each input our own sections into the finished article, since we all have the ability to edit the issue in progress. It would make your job a lot easier at least. (Although I would like to get mine okayed first sweatdrop Not everything I write is exactly automatically good. On that note, what do people think about the Writer's Aide? Apart from Rushifa of course who already said =D).
@Rushifa: You wouldn't be looking to take over as editor now would you? ^^

@Rushifa: You wouldn't be looking to take over as editor now would you? ^^Honestly...I'm considering it. I'd be happy to work as second-in-command for awhile, and see if I actually have time... In the mean time, I think the biggest problem we're having right now is guild presense. We're all busy, but we can't be very enthused to work if we're not even around the guild. I want to encourage everyone to try and just hang out more, even if you don't have time to work on an article. This will especially be good if we go into hiring-mode hard core. I was think we could have a Hiring Event, where we basically post a hiring thread in the Writing Forum, and have alot of people buzzing around to help encourage new people to join. We basically just need alot of general staffies, and their specific parts in the guild are really less important at the moment, since that can be so fluid as time passes. I'm thinking for the event, we'd just try to spend time with those who are interested, kind of interviewing them, but mostly just trying to spark discussions. Also, more long-term, I think we should have some sort of big contest, to try and get some more readers. What do people think?

Yeah, I haven't been very active in the guild up until now, when I'm suddenly going through a big phase of coming here and writing lots of stuff. I'm currently doing another Writer's Aide article which looks like it might be very long xD Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus is a very extensive topic.
I think a hardcore hiring session sounds good. What really strikes me is the difference in members between this guild and the old one. Do we need to invite them all here, or is this place still technically under construction?
Plus maybe if we created a Hiring thread and did some advertising for the event, we could generate some more interest for the Press in general, maybe get some more people who are willing to read and submit pieces.
What kind of big contest are you thinking of? We could have a writing contest and print the winners in the Press instead of submissions for that month.
I have looots of free time now that I'm on summer holidays, so I'll help in whatever way is needed. Sure, technically I'm on work experience (I'm at 'work' right now, as a matter of fact) but I think if anything that just means I have more time, because I'm sat in front of a computer all day with no parents to nag me. XD
So... sure, those are some good ideas. ^_^
Edit: Mary-Sue article is up. I also have a question: is it okay to use a swearword in an article title?

I know what you mean, I go through phases also...sometime I'm really around, and getting lots done, and others I'm cometepely busy and almost never make an appearance. It's just how it goes. That's why we encourage people to write alot ahead of time, but we're all pretty bad about keeping up with it...
I like the idea of having a big contest, and using the top entries in that months issue, with the winner at the end. I'm thinking we should probably make a separate Poetry contest and Fiction contest...either the same month, or perhaps one after another.

*sigh* well, I'm staying with my parents for two weeks, and my computer refuses to connect to our wireless...so I'm more or less without reliable internet access. I'm on my mom's comp right now, but both my parents need their computers too much for me to camp out on them. So, don't rely on me too much during these weeks (sorry!!!), but I'll be back by the 9th of July. See you all then!

yeah, ditto. I try to check in pretty regularly. Right now I'm really busy, 'cause I just got a new job (I now work at IKEA!), which is why I haven't done a review or anything. Also, I've been spending all my free time working on the Rose Bride Dress (Revolutionary Girl Utena) I'm making for this coming Kumoricon. Its a big red ball gown, and I only have a little over a month to finish it!
I think if we ever want to revive the 'press for good, we need to actively seek out enthusiastic new staff. Some day, I'll get around to it and actual post the Hiring Thread I've been talking about for the last few months...

Since it doesn't look like anyone else checks here on a regular basis, if at all any more, what do you think to us going ahead and trying a few of these ideas? The worst that can happen is nothing, and the best is that we get some new staff who are really up for reviving the Press.

Ugh. How comes everyone still finds the time to log in, and yet not to at least visit the Press? That doesn't make any sense to me. It wouldn't hurt just to glance at the guild, write a few words, even if it's an excuse as to how busy they've been. If it's because people have been feeling too guilty about abandoning the Press to do so, well, you won't make amends by doing nothing.
My initial inclination is to go round PMing everyone, asking them that same question, but I've been in this situation before and it's always the same. If only one person cares enough about these things to want to revive them, there's no point, because they'll just die again within a few days or weeks anyway, if only one person actually cares. And that must be the case, since I find it hard to believe that not a single person here has had a spare second over the summer holidays to at least check back and post something, even if they haven't had time enough for a review or column.
Even so, there's no point writing this - or even ranting this - if no one's going to read it (although I think anyone who does'd be like, 'Riiight... she's completely mad...'), and it's hard to just sit back and let something as good as this just dwindle and die... Maybe I'll just PM one person.
