afterdark_angel Kareswen side-stepped the last orc, guts spilling across the grass after her last blow, and tried to coax her horse to let her remount. She seemed to notice her anxiety and backed further and further away as she approached. Kareswen cursed and angrily made a lunge for the bridle but the horse adroitly avoided her, sending her sprawling. Venerah heard the Scream of the orc being killed, then she swiftly killed the one in front of her. She then stood up, looking for other beings. "Oh?" She remarked as she spotted Kareswen and the horse. Venerah started to approch.

Kareswen ran her fingers through her hair with exasperation and turned to the person approaching. Noticing the dead orc at her feet, Kareswen gave a wry smile. "Not such a deserted forest after all." She commented, indicating the corpses with her sword.

"I guess so." She said. Venerah smiled. "Hello, I am Venerah, daughter of no one." She looked at the frantic horse. "Need help?"

Kareswen grinned. "Try your luck," she offered, "wilful animal. I'm Kareswen of Gondor. Lately of the Wilds." She wiped her sword on the grass and scowled at the stubborn horse, "I'd trade you in if there were any stables left standing." she admonished her.

Galbon started to walk instead of run when he thought that he was safe from the orcs. He sat by a large tree and leaned against it for a light rest.

"Easy does it...Thats a good girl..." She tried soothing it. No luck. "Well," Venerah said. "This is a strong horse, but somethings not right about the enviorment..."

"Too close to the orc army?" Kareswen guessed with a shrug, "I miss my last horse. This one is so unpredictable... and temperamental." The horse snorted and Kareswen gave her a venomous look, that abruptly changed when she noticed the column of lights were moving.
"The army's moving again. We better get a move on." She made a sudden dash and hooked one arm through the bridle with a small crow of triumph.

"Lets go." She said as she hoped up.

Kareswen wrestled with her horse as she watched Venerah mount with silent envy. She eventually managed to mount and persuaded her horse to trot, if not quite next to Venerah's, it was closer than she had expected.

Kar mounted his warg quitley, keeping his eyes on the two figures on horses that had just attacked an orcish party. He hoped it wasnt the group he was supposed to be trading with, it would have made his trip completely pointless if they had. Kar decided it would be best to follow them for a while before he aproaced them at all.

Allaire dismounted from her horse and held the leather reigns in her hand as she stayed lined up with the horse's shoulder, patting him softly as she walked into an area where the tree were more dense, making it harder for her to ride and harder to be seen. She hoped it was a good enough hiding place until dawn when light would provide her with an easier path to see out of the orc filled area. She did not expect to even feel distant enough from the beasts in this ime period, but she knew no one ever felt comfortable at the begining of the Fouth Age.

Kareswen followed Venerah through the still trees. Surprisingly, her horse seemed to like the company of the other and was easily persuaded to keep quiet as they rode through the forest. It was dark and eery and Kareswen couldn't help feeling jumpy. She stayed close to Venerah and checked her sword was still loose in the scabbard. She had the uneasy feeling that she might need it.

Venerah, too, saw that Kareswen's horser liked the company. She felt her neck stiffen, like someone was following. "Someone around..." She said to Kareswen. She searched for a dager with one hand just in case.

Kar had his warg leap silently from one tree shadow to the next. At one of the trees, the warg picked up one of the now useless orc bodies and silently chewed on it with its massive jaws.

Kareswen nodded and resisted the temptation to stare into the trees behind them. She was unlikely to see anything and it would warn their follower that they thought it was there. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, only slightly reassured by Venerah's presence. Everything was far too quiet considering that there was an orc army less than a mile away.
