A sweet smile curled on to Sikäri's lips as Dorian uttered those words, leaving a fluttery sensation in his stomach. Five years had been a painfully long wait- and it was likely that Sikäri would never let Dorian in on just how badly he had mistreated himself in that time. Of course his village knew how much of a wreck he had been... But still he had taken care of them all- and they respected him enough to keep his secrets.
"Mm, I know" he cooed as Dorian placed his hands on his cheeks, tilting his head ever so slightly to press his cheek into Dorian's palm affectionately.
He had no qualms about sitting there in the water simply sharing affections, but someone had to stop before things began to get out of hand and thus he pulled back, a soft blush of crimson spread over his cheeks from the intensity of it all.
"I think we should get out of the water and dry off soon, before your self control crumbles to nothing" He mused, shivering as Dorian's hand caressed the skin over his ribs. It was hard to say 'no' to Dorian when he already had Sikäri figured out, and to make things worse he didn't even seem to do it on purpose half the time which could drive Sikäri crazy.

Dorian took a moment before nodding in response, "Hmm...you got a point. We should get out and avoid getting all prune like." He then stood and set Sikari down as he got out of the water and began putting his clothes back on as he glanced around to make sure they were still alone. Now that he was dressed he looked to Sikari and stretched a bit. There was something about today that was bugging Dorian but he just couldn't figure it out. He stood there staring up at the blue sky trying to get a sign from anything to remind him and just then he did. A cloud floating by nearly resembled the shape of a heart and it was then that it cliked.
"Valentines day!" It was probably an odd thing for him to yell out and looking at Sikari he saw the male with a confused expression. With a chuckle he went on to explain what Valentine's day was. In fact he even gave him a brief history lesson of what it really was. He finished off by saying, "But now a days people just like expressing their love for friends or family or lovers by giving them chocolates, flowers or cards shaped as hearts some times with a nice loving message written on them."

Sikäri chuckled sweetly as Dorian stood and placed him down. The lower half of his hair stuck to him as it was still quite wet but the rest was only damp now thanks to the sun exposure. He stepped out of the water with ease and gave himself a moment to simply dry, completely unashamed of his nakedness. Once he was satisfied that he wouldn't get his clothes soaking wet, he slipped his bottoms back on and then the shawl he had used before was swung over his shoulders around his neck.
Sikäri jumped at the sudden out burst, his eyes darting to Dorian who had been looking up at the sky. He had indeed felt his face slip to something like confusion- as this was a completely....foreign thing to him... but then again most things about Dorian was foreign, which was one of his favorite things about spending time with him. He always got to learn about something new from his lover.
He listened intently to his lovers explanation, a smile gradually growing on his lips. "I see" He voiced gently, biting his bottom lip gently in thought as he let his gaze wander away- obviously thinking. His gaze slowly moved back to Dorian and a slight flush colored his cheeks. "I.. I'll be right back!" He stated quickly, before he took off without a word.
He had run back to his small home, and proceeded to dig through his possessions until he found what he was looking for, a smile blossoming on his lips. Before running back to Dorian he slipped on one of his cropped tops that he seemed to like wearing and pulled his damp hair into a ponytail. Then he took off back to the lake, panting faintly by the time he got back from the slight rush.
"Back" He breathed as he caught his breath and approached Dorian again, warmth flooding to his cheeks again- obviously a bit nervous about something. "I umm.. Well! I don't know how this works in your culture and everything but here if there is a couple who want to um.. Solidify? their relationship- make it permanent or what ever.... and I'm doing this a bit strangely cause you know- it's usually a man and a woman.. But anyways! They um...well, one of them offers up something of value- that's been in the family for...ever.. and I um..." He voiced, noting that he was probably starting to ramble so he simply thrust his hand forwards from behind his back. In his hand hung a necklace on a black leather cord- on it seemed to be a iridescent stone that seemed to change colors subtly in the sunlight. "This was...something my mother gave to my father when they first courted... I want you um.. have it?" He breathed, unable to actually bring his gaze up to Dorian due to the extremely dark blush that had spread across his cheeks.
All in all this was a bit of a big deal, and he knew it was a bit...hasty? to be giving him such a thing so soon after their reunion- but he also felt like it was right. He wanted that proof that they were going to last, that there was a solid 'finality' to what they had.

Dorian had watched Sikari rushed off and chuckled while finishing getting himself dressed then stood by a tree for shade while he waited. He wondered where the young male had run off to and what he was up to but he would have to just wait and see. Smiling to himself he could hear a faint panting so he looked to see that Sikari finally returned and was wearing something a bit different though Dorian didn't care what the male wore, hell he could walk around naked and he'd be fine with that.
Of course his thoughts were placed else where when Sikari began to explain what he had gone to get and it was making him even more curious to see what it was. With their cultures being different he wondered what he was going to give him. Would it be some sort of weird wood carving? A shrunken head? Perhaps a rare gem? What was it?! He didn't have to suffer much longer and laid his eyes on the trinket his lover had now showed, explaining how it was something his mother had given to his father. For a second he wondered if this was some kind of proposal. Rather than asking he would simply wait and see if any conversations popped up about marriage of any sort.
With a smile he reached out and let the stone sit on his hand as he examined it for a moment. Truthfully Dorian loved gems of any sort, especially ones like these but he could look past the gem as it was the meaning behind it that what caused the big smile to grow on his face.
In an instant he began to wonder what the hell he could offer the other male. For now he had nothing, but he would go for the corniest thing he could think of now in hopes that it would be enough. Reaching out at Sikari with both hands, he pulled the male into a warm loving embrace. Gently pushing his head against his chest so that the male could hear his heart beat he went on to say, "For now the only thing I give you is my heart."

Sikäri bit his lip softly as he was pulled into Dorian's chest, resting his hands palms against Dorians chest as he listened to the other males heart beat- his own quickening. "I-i'm sorry. I don't really know how you're culture goes about with these things" He muttered, having a slight feeling that Dorian was probably confused on the meaning of the necklace. It wasn't like Sikäri had explained it all that well now had he.
"The necklace.. Um........ How do I explain it... I guess it's a symbol to represent a finality? to make things permanent or something... Gods- I never thought I would do this you know!" He voiced as he tilted his head back, letting a slightly silly smile slide onto his lips "I mean growing up- i figured I'd just y'know- be alone." He added, tilting his head slightly before he reached up on his tip toes and placed a sweet closed mouth kiss to Dorian lips, before he dropped back down and nuzzled his nose against Dorian's chest.
"I'm really bad at explaining things" He grumbled from where he hid his face- hiding just how nervous he actually felt at this given moment in time.

His fumbling of words was too cute and Dorian was tempted to laugh but Sikari might take it the wrong way and he might think that he was laughing at him rather than with him...in a sense. Dorian was just as bad with these things which was why he avoided having any lover during Valentine Days. Women were way worse so he was pretty glad he was with Sikari and he didn't know much of how things worked in modern society. But either way with Sikari trying to explain what this was Dorian began to think this was some form of proposal.
Biting his bottom lip after receiving a quick kiss he thought of how to go about this. Should he really tell Sikari how people in modern society saw this? Better now than later he supposed. After clearing his throat he rubbed the males head and looked down at him giving him a gentle smile.
"I see what you're saying. Actually in my society something like this is called a proposal in which the person giving it to the other wishes to wed the other. We call it engagement in which the couple spends how ever long planning a wedding ceremony then legally becoming man and wife. In this case man and man, unless you want to wear the dress and be the wife." He chuckled lightly and winked at Sikari as he looked up at the sky briefly.
"Marriage is what people due to spiritually...in a sense become bound to one another forever. Until death do us part. So...is this what you mean by offering this necklace to me?" Dorian asked as he took a step back and grabbed the necklace and looked at it closer while waiting for Sikari to reply. Of course he did add, "This is beautiful by the way...and I'd be honored to wear this...and most likely never take it off."

Sikäri keened into that hand, not minding what so ever if it shook some of his hair loose from it's binding- he soaked up the affection like a sponge. As soon as Dorian began to explain how his culture went about these affairs he began to lift his head from the other males chest, almost hesitant to do so as a slight timidity reeled through him. He chewed the inside of his cheek gentle as Dorian sent a wink his way, that chuckle sending a wave of emotion through him- pleasant ones that is.
"Marriage.." He murmured as if testing the new word out, finding it a strange word to utter...and the concept was still somewhat vague but he could piece it together fairly well. Sikäri wanted to pull Dorian back, almost scared of being rejected but he simply snatched his hands back and clasped them behind his back, hiding the fact that they trembled ever so slightly. He hadn't even been this nervous when he first slept with Dorian! let alone announced that he loved him!
"I...yeah, It's basically a....proposal was it? I mean... That's the idea, but I'm definitely not wearing a dress" He muttered, unable to really lift his face still so he peeked at Dorian from under thick black lashes. "Bound forever..Sounds nice, doesn't it?" He added, finding that his voice was far quieter than usual and he didn't really like it- but that's how it was.

So this was a proposal after all. Dorian was a bit surprised to be honest but he hardly really showed it. Instead it was all going on in his head. The questions and the possibilities of this outcome and he stood there silently staring at the necklace for quite a while which was probably making Sikari more nervous than he already was. Dorian had a bit of commitment issues but with Sikari he was beginning to see no need to be with anyone else but marriage was a huge step even if it wasn't called marriage here. It was still the same concept and Dorian was unsure if he was really ready to take it to this level.
Then again why not? It wasn't like he was planning on doing it with anyone else. He had thought of this moment before and how he would only wed the right person and as far as he knew it, Sikari was the right person. This was the being he had be waiting for a long time and he certainly didn't want to spend another day without him. Five years had been too torturous so what would an eternity feel like? Now that was too hellish to really think about.
After a couple minutes of contemplating he came to a conclusion. Taking a deep breath he looked at Sikari and again offered a warm loving smile. "Well this certainly is a big surprise. However....I always saw myself being the one to get down on one knee and propose to whoever I wanted to marry. So with that being said I want you to know that I wish to be bound to you but if you don't mind, I'd like to be the one to ask you. Think of it as my manly ego. Plus it'll be a good chance to embarrass the hell out of me since I plan on doing so in front of everyone. Now the way one proposes to another is giving a ring. I have several but I have one in mind. You've given me this necklace and so privately I accept your proposal. But I will be the one returning the proposal publicly. What do you say?" He smiled and hoped that Sikari would essentially agree to his...well condition of sorts.

Silence fell over them like a heavy blanket and he could feel his anxiety rising- actually startling a bit when Dorian spoke again, but that smile of his sent a fluttering warmth through his chest. A bubble of laughter managed to rise from his lips which sounded almost like a nervous hiccup as he lifted his hands to cover his face, letting out a breath that he hadn't even realized he had been holding all that time- his heart skipping a beat to catch up again. "Oh gods" He breathed, before he knelt down, curling in on himself as relief flooded through him.
"Of course that's okay. Gods... this is hard..." He breathed, He could do private. He didn't mind waiting for Dorian to be ready to announce it officially- as long as the proposition remained- as long as he knew that this was something that would really happen "I'm relieved..." he muttered, but he didn't move... he was shaken beyond belief and his eyes prickled with tears.

For a second Dorian thought he broke Sikari but once he heard the male utter that he was relieved then so was he. He smiled and reached out and scooped him up and began to carry him back to the village. He didn't utter out a work and simply walked through the jungle until they reached the village and of course some villagers that spotted them had rushed over worried since they thought Sikari had been injured in some way however they were sent off knowing he was perfectly fine and oddly so happy that he couldn't walk.
Dorian set the male down by what used to be the bone fire as he rubbed his cheeks and smiled, "Now, do what you normally do while I head back to my ship to get what I need to get. And don't worry I won't sail away." He chuckled and ruffled the males hair before calling three of his men as they set back toward the ship since he didn't want to go alone considering the wild animals in the jungle that he may not be able to fight off alone.
It took at least half an hour to reach where they had left the ship as he boarded up and began to look through his things, telling two men to carry his chest back to the village. His chest had all his clothes as well as some of his weapons. Dorian then continued searching for the item he had wanted to give to Sikari.

Sikäri gasped as he was picked up, but he didn't lift his head and simply curled against Dorian, taking in the other males scent which seemed to simply bring more relief to the male. He kept his face hidden even when people approached, letting Dorian explain even though that was embarrassing beyond belief as well. He tilted his head up a bit when Dorian set him down, smiling faintly at the male as he told him to go about his usual routine. He didn't think Dorian would run off- probably due to the smile he had shown him earlier... He just knew Dorian was here to stay. "Okay" He breathed, watching Dorian and a few crew members disappear into the forest before he stood and got a hold of himself- though the moment he did his world seemed to spin. Shrugging it off as nothing but blood rushing to his head he wandered about the camp- though he was quickly halted by the village healer.
He stood with the woman a while and he took in the womans' haggard appearance, she looked exhausted. After a moment she started to explain her worries about a sickness that had overtaken a few of the villagers- remarking on how pale he himself looked but he simply shrugged it off. He then proceeded to visit everyone who was sick- finding some where worse than others and all the while he was starting to feel...well- not so well himself. Only when he started coughing did the old medicine woman start to fret over Sikäri himself. She gasped when he pressed a hand to his forehead- feeling how feverish he was even though he played it off as nothing- though he didn't get far when he tried to avoid the woman, moving too quickly and the world began to spin again.
This time he tumbled to the floor, a wretched cough seizing his lungs- making his eyes burn with tears that didn't manage to fall- as he kept them at bay. "Bed. You must rest." The woman demanded- her English somewhat...choppy. She was used to only speaking in the old tongue- but nonetheless Sikäri obeyed- making his way back to his hut- though the old woman did not stay with him and instead made her way to one of Dorian's crew mates.
"You- boy- Tell your leader. Sikäri- Ill. Village Ill." She stated, in which he was quick to act upon, sprinting to the ship despite the fact that he was on his own. The moment he got there he searched out Dorian and let him know what was happening- especially the fact that Sikäri was Ill and the village healer didn't seem to know what it was that was ailing him or any of the other villagers.

Dorian had found what he was looking for as he was about to leave his chambers when one of his crew members barged in suddenly making him reach for his pistol since he had found it and put the holster on his hips just then. Sighing heavily he looked at the man but didn't stay irritated too long when he heard that Sikari was ill and so was a lot of the villagers. He didn't hesitate as he hurried back with the crew member as he was extremely worried as to how sick Sikari was. He seemed fine moments ago...However Dorian did remember that Sikari's body felt rather warm when he had picked him up last. He had only assumed his body was warm because he was blushing so much and what not.
Reaching the village he rushed to Sikari's side as he sat down gently on the bed and looked to see how ill Sikari looked. He reached out and placed the back of his hand on his forehead and he could feel how hot he was. His hand was cold so it probably felt nice against Sikari's hot skin.
"You have a high fever...have you been coughing maybe sneezing a bit?" He wanted to figure out his symptoms as he had the doctor come in. What pirate ship didn't have some kind of doctor on board after all?
The man walked in and checked on Sikari and took note of the symptoms. "Seems like they all have the common cold."
"Common cold? Oh well they should be fine right?" Dorian said feeling a bit more at ease but the look on the doctors face made him frown and more worried.
"The common cold is something we can deal with easily, our immune system has fought against it many years now...but for them they probably never had to deal with this virus. This is bad captain...really bad. If we don't get medicine to them now...I'm afraid they won't make it through the night." He stood up and paced back and forth, tapping his chin trying to come up with a solution.
Dorian stood up and looked down at Sikari as he walked over to the doctor and made him pause his pacing. "What do we do then? One of us must have spread it to these people and so I am fully responsible if anything happens to these people. All we need is medicine don't we?"
"Yeah...however we don't have anymore. There's no time to go and get any either it would take us weeks to reach the closest land mass and by then they'll be all dead. The only thing we can do is collect herbs and make the medicine ourselves. With the help of their healer we might be able to do so but I don't know how long it'll take. For now we have to help them by keeping their bodies from over heating. Everyone who is sick...make sure they are being cooled down constantly. It'll be the fever that will kill them." He then exited the house and found the old woman since she was the village healer. He filled her in on what the sickness was and together they went off to find the herbs that could help etc.
Meanwhile Dorian walked over to Sikari before rushing out for a moment. He told the health villagers to stay away from teh sick so that they didn't get sick either and ordered his crew to go to all the sick men and women and children and put them in charge to keep them all cool no matter what. After that he brought back a decently big bucket of water which was cold and so he sat on the bed, removing Sikari's clothes while he put a wet rag on his forehead and began to fan his body while using another soaked rag to dab on his body to wipe the sweat but to also cool his body down as much as he could.

Sikäri had made it back to his hut and instantly curled himself up in his blankets- he felt cold and unsteady even though his body was actually burning up. He had managed to doze until he felt a cool hand on his cheek which was actually nice despite the fact that he had thought that he was cold. Oceanic blue orbs riddled with pain cracked open- since when had he felt so sore? It hadn't been that bad earlier. He simply nodded at Dorian's question, but a small smile managed to work it's way onto his lips at the sight of him. He couldn't really keep up with the conversation and let out a shaky exhale "I'm fine.." He muttered, though his own voice sounded weak to his ears. He let his eyes close sleepily once more, letting the conversation simply pass him by- he didn't know what they were talking about and it was too rushed for him to process.
He didn't really process what Dorian was doing until a while later- having dozed off a bit, but now his body trembled and his brows knitted together a bit "It's cold..." He whimpered softly, of course unaware of the actual temperature of his body. his deep eyes opened slowly, finding Dorian's form right next to him- but he was so far away... He'd never felt this tired before, hos body ached and his head was beginning to throb. weakly he reached out and grasped the hem of Dorian's shirt, worry crossing his own features at how distraught Dorian looked. "Don't worry love- I'll be fine" He cooed, ignoring the weakness in his own voice- he had to be strong now right? His hand dropped back down to the bed, all he wanted to do was curl in on himself and grasp what ever heat he could- despite the fact that he wasn't supposed to heat his body anymore. His fever was quite high in comparison to some of the other villagers, which was weird because he had contracted it a little later than most.

"I know you're cold but I have to keep your body cool, if you get any hotter it'll be very bad.." He replied with his face still filled with worry as he got up for a moment and promised to be back very soon. He rushed out to find the doctor and the village healer to see how they were doing. He walked into the hut where it reeked of herbs and other natural stuff.
"How's it coming along? We need to hurry....some of the villagers are getting worse including Sikari," Dorian said as he lingered by the door way so he could easily turn and head back.
"We're going as fast as we can. So far we're half way done but...give us an hour or two max but we will be done soon. Everyone should be okay by then so long as everyone continues to keep their body temps down," The doctor replied with a nod as he focused on the work at hand.
Dorian knew that the two were doing as much as they could as well as as fast so he would not pressure them any more as he turned and hurried back. Dorian got back to Sikari as he continued to wipe the sweat off his body and continue trying his best to keep his body temperature down. He was beginning to panic, his heart racing.

When Dorian left Sikäri had curled up, knocking the rag off of his forehead, but he just couldn't help it. He ached and he was cold and all he wanted was to sleep but he just couldn't sleep anymore and now he was coughing and his chest burned... All in all he felt miserable. He cracked his eyes open as Dorian returned again, frowning at the signs of panic on the males face... he didn't like seeing Dorian like this. He didn't mind the fact that Dorian continuously wiped his body down, he was far more focused on Dorian himself.
When Dorian brought the cloth to his chest Sikäri reached up a hand to grasp Dorians gently, giving it a small squeeze as a smile pulled at his lips again "Dorian" he breathed softly, his lashes fluttering closed- eyelashes placing soft butterfly kisses against his skin before he opened them once more "I'm going.. to be okay" He murmured gently "I promise- this won't get the better of me" he breathed, a soft cough passing his lips but at least it wasn't a violent cough...yet.
