Steppin' in the hold down the fort while zee captain is away.
Still a bit stuck on my post atm. A one or two paragraph post is unacceptable to me, and that's where I'm kind of stuck at the moment.

I'm sorry but I will be leaving this guild,I adore being with you all and hate that I have to leave in the middle of an RP but I can't deal with what is going on. I hope that the guild stays successful and everything goes well smile Much love XOXO

I'm not quite sure why we can't all just sit down and talk it out like adults? Let's not let emotions cloud our judgement, let's talk.

I got to do a retro orbital blood draw from a mouse today, and did blood glucose tests on a bunch of mice.

Oh they were fine. Mice are tiny, there are really only three ways to draw blood from them (or four I guess) One: Intracardiac (from the heart) but you would only do this if the animal was terminal, because an intracardiac puncture will kill the mouse. Two: from their eye (most common form of blood draw from a mouse), there's a pocket behind their eye you can get with a capillary tube. You anesthetize the mouse and use a local anesthetic and analgesic so it's not uncomfortable or painful to the mouse. Three: From their tail vein, this is a very small vein that's hard to hit, and hard to draw large amounts from without collapsing the vein Four: Snip off the tip of their tail and get a dot of blood (like for glucose tests, instead of pricking a finger for human diabetics, we tip the tail in diabetic mice).
I haven't been grocery shopping in a while.. Should probably get that done sometime this weekend. Lol. I have a friend that's been managing gamestops here in San Diego for a few years now. I worked at one when I was 16 for like... 3 months until I realized working in retail is s**t, haha.

Yeah but i have nothing else to do lol...My husband is in the navy so i only have this job just so i can buy him presents for christmas with my own money. I personally dont like the idea of using the money he goes to work for to earn to buy him a present. And aww...those all sound horrible to the mice xD but then again, this comes from the girl who fed live healthy mice to her teachers snakes when she brought them home for the summer LOL

Ah, well that's noble of you. I spend my husband's money all the time xD But I agree about the presents things, which is why I don't get him stuff. I make stuff for him, none of it is good stuff, but it's thoughtful. I made him a card for his birthday with his name designed like the bioshock logo (which took surprisingly more work than you'd think), and drove all around SD to get his friends to sign it and donate to buying him a bunch of gifts I'd picked out.
Ha, I think feeding a live, awake, and aware mouse to a snake is a bit worse than letting a mouse drift off to sleep and then wake up and not feel any pain from our procedures since we give them analgesics. razz
That, of course, doesn't mean that I haven't fed live mice to snakes myself either, lol. I still feed mice to our vultures, kookaburras, owls, and hawks, but they're dead mice, instead of live prey,

Aww, poor little sister. We have a girl in our class that complains about mice being fed to snakes and stuff. We had a litter of mice that were born in our facility, and they were going to be taken by one of the students and used as feeder mice, and before she could take them home someone else came and adopted them without saying anything or asking to take them. We were discussing what happened and this one student popped up and was goin' on about, "well now they have a chance to live" and blah blah blah, but it's like... Yeah, now the mice have a chance to live, but the snake doesn't? How is that fair?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE animal person, thus my double major in biology and animal health technology (and party time study of animal behavior), but I'm not ignorant in the ways of life. Animals eat other animals, we humans eat tons of animals, it happens.
Yeah, I set up a little website with all the gifts I wanted to get him, and their prices, and sent the link to all of his friends without him knowing, and got them all to donate to his birthday. It was pretty cool. smile
