Courtney gave Russo the same look she gave her science experiments, and then rolled her eyes. This was getting to be a bad habit with him. "Your clothes dry yet? What's with the forehead smack, Casanova? Don't you know you lose brain-cells that way?"

Baya stopped hissing and she straightened up a little bit. She looked up at the woman with large wide eyes.
After a few minutes, a soft, smooth female voice appeared in the woman's head. "My name is Bayarose. Are you really the new Headmistress of the Tower? My people and I were wondering who the new one was going to be. Actually, we were afraid that the school would close if they didn't find another Headmaster soon. We are glad to see that this is not the case, if you are who you say you are."

"Interesting," Deena said as the fox looked up at her and she heard the voice in her head. Normally she probably would have thought the comment, but if the creature could project her thoughts into Deena's mind, she could probably just as easily read her thoughts. She had more than enough skill to block a telepath from her mind, at least as long as it was not a particularly powerful one, but she didn't feel that that was necessary. The girl didn't seem to exude evil, and if she did she likely would've run or attacked her by now.
The name, or it's origins, didn't click in Deena's mind, and thus she didn't have a particular race that the girl would belong to in her mind. Still, she didn't believe that she was a familiar. A shape-shifter perhaps, one of a race of them most likely. Human was cast from her mind from the simple phrase of 'my people'. That, and human shape-shifters seldom had access to telepathy. She put her hand to her mouth, stifling a yawn as she did so.
"Yes, I am the new Headmistress for the Tower. Or, I will be tomorrow when my room is prepared," she said. It'd been a long trip from her last job at Saint Gristlewood. She wondered if she could force the girl to shift... with the right spell she was fairly sure she could, but she didn't like to resort to things like that. Unlike how some people perceived her, she wasn't a cold scientist that would do whatever she wanted for the sake of curiosity. While she would do some things that others wouldn't, for the most part she was a patient person, and could wait for her on her own.
"Will you retake your usual humanoid form, or shall I continue conversing with a creature several hundred miles out of her habitat?" she asked simply.

Smiling, she had bid farewell to the teacher. Once again, apologizing profusely for being so troublesome. Once he was out of sight, then Melody began to move when she was hit with...something. Horrified, she froze and put a hand to her throat.
Air...
She couldn't breath! Tears began to form in her eyes, and she almost crumpled. Then the sensation had began to daub away until it reached a sense of almost normality. That had been really frightening! Melody had thought she was going to die!
A bit shakily, the teen headed inside the Tower. There was still some time. Melody made a bee-line for the library. Her favorite place in all the school.
The smell of the dusty tomes greeted he like an old friend. Really, she didn't have many in this place. It was fine with her...it wouldn't have been right to soil others by forcing them to put up with a person like her.

Eli had almost reached his classroom (and, therefore, office) when he froze, as did several others in the vicinity, and his eyes widened. He looked out towards the forest through a conveniently-placed window. Such a powerful aura... and so near... Could that be the new Headmistress?

Baya stared at the woman... headmistress for awhile and considered what she asked. It was not common for her people to be in human form when they were in the forest. They could get around faster in their animal forms. However, her people always tried to live harmoniously with the school nearby and tried to respect the headmaster's wishes. So, she should do the same here. The fox curled into a ball on the ground, almost as if she was going to go to sleep, and closed her eyes. Then, a bright blue glow began to appear below the fox and then reached up around and above her. A few minutes later, a girl stood where the fox had been, and as the blue light quickly sunk back into the earth again, it blew the girl's hair up. Her clothes remained unaffected because she wore a hunting outfit, one that was skin-tight and allowed for quick movement without getting caught on anything. The white markings on her body were still glowing faintly after the transformation, but the glow would disappear after awhile. "I only did this because you are the future headmistress of Tower. Do not expect this transformation every time you see me, Ma'am." She nodded respectfully to the woman. "I noticed that you tried to stifle a yawn earlier. If your rooms are not ready, does that mean that you are looking for a place to sleep? If so, you may stay with my tribe."

"Sorry, Queen Courtney," Van Russel said, "Your data's wrong. I never lose brain cells." He smirked at her playfully, that sharp needle-like pain only a dull memory now.
"But yeah, they're dry." He got up, and paraded to the dryer, doing a little spin before opening the door. He must have been a performer in another life - Van Russel adored the spotlight. Unfortunately, it was an unrequited love. Spotlights, unless you were the singer of the latest emo boy band, did not care much for skinny dark-haired boys who were more concerned about over-sized scarves than whether or not the scarf was functional.
He put his clothes back on - shirt, jacket, and then his scarf - how relieved he was, to see that the blood stains had not set! He grinned as he tossed it around his neck with a little, no, a lot of flourish.
"C'mon Queen, let's go back." He walked back to where Courtney was sitting, and held out his hand.
((Woon, I'm not ignoring what you did with Deena's aura, but I'd say that Courtney and Van are maybe... maybe half an hour behind every one else? After Rrine replies, I'll post Van's reaction.))

"Fine," she sighed, stowing her book in her bag. She hesitated before taking his hand, and standing up. "Let's roll!" she said, pulling him along.

A while later, both Van Russel and Courtney were back at the edge of the grounds of the school, just returning to the campus. Suddenly compelled, Van Russel looked back towards the thick green forest. There was pressure, a massive aura, and for him, he sensed in in the form of a headache. It was so powerful, he thought for sure his head would explode!
He cringed, and turned back around. After a few moments, the aura subsided, and his headache followed.
"Ok, now I know I wasn't the only to feel that!"

Deena's eyes narrowed slightly as the girl started speaking, but it wasn't from her change of form. There was a problem with releasing that much power in one shot, it tended to get things curious, or it sent them running. Unfortunately, the ones that got curious weren't usually all that interested in the power's source, other than to figure out how to drain. "Asforus un actum," she said, feeling the energy focus into raw power in her fist, as much energy converging there as her limits would allow.
She moved her head about a centimeter to the left, a ball of energy whizzing past her ear, barely missing, and exploding against a nearby tree. She turned around, her open palm making contact with the large imp-like demon's stomach. The surge of energy obliterated the creature with one shot. She turned back around, pushing up her glasses with her middle finger, her face not changing at all over the course of the strike.
"Yes, I could use you a room if you are willing to oblige," she said, glancing at her coat to make sure none of the creature had gotten on her. Nothing, still pristine. She was more than used to being attacked, having been attacked for years guarding her town. "I was going to go to one of the hotels in the town, unless you have a better place for me to stay."
((Sorry it's short... and a little crappy. >.> Wanted to fight. And my laptop's about die, so that's why I'm not really going to post more for now.))

Baya had her bow and arrow out. She had it aimed for the imp, but the headmistress had already destroyed it. Well, it was very good that she was so strong, though Baya had expected nothing less from the headmistress of The Tower.
Baya nodded and turned. "Of course. Follow me, then, Headmistress."
Baya normally would have climbed up a tree and lept from branch to branch. It was the fastest way to travel. However, she was pretty sure that the headmistress wouldn't have been able to follow her that way.
After about 20 minutes, Baya had led Deena to one of the deepest areas in the forest. It wasn't the center, but it would take a couple hours for a normal human to get back outside of the forest from here. Only large, powerful creatures lived in this section of the forest.
A few moments later, a large group of people that all had white markings on different areas of their bodies, much like Baya did, had come out from the trees and had their bows and arrows drawn at Deena.
Baya put her hands up and began to speak telepathically to her people. There were facial reactions, but no words were spoken. However, minutes later, the bows were slowly lowered and the chief came forward. She wore a long black leather skirt and a black leather halter top. She was relatively young and had long pitch-black hair.
She held out her hand for Deena. "Welcome, Headmistress. Bayarose told us who you are and that you need a place to stay. We only sleep in the boughs of trees and in the large hammocks we've made with vines and rope. I hope that is sufficient."

Deena followed the girl into the forest, tapping the sides of her glasses as she did. The moment she touched the frame, the microcomputer in them connected to her regular computer. It analyzed the path they were taking, along with plants, animals, and energy signatures. She needed to take the "normal" readings. If she didn't know what the readings were when everything was normal, she wouldn't know what the readings were when something was out of the ordinary... assuming that today's readings would constitute as 'normal' anyway. She would take several other readings, she didn't like assuming much. That, and in a school for magic the energy readings would fluctuate daily.
That was one of t he first things she'd learned to do at her first teaching job at Saint Gristlewood. That being, learning to account for the 'acceptable change'. Basically, at which point the energy of an area changed so much that something drastic had to have happened. It wasn't the most definite of 'all clear' signals, but if someone started casting some serious magic anywhere nearby (without being smart enough to conceal themselves 100%), she would know before the first syllable was spoken or the first rune was drawn. Which reminded her, she needed to find what she did with the blueprints for her last resort....
Her face was stoic as all the arrows were pointed at her. If she felt threatened, she could easily activate something to defend herself. However, if she did that it probably wouldn't end all that well, for either side. I thank you, she responded mentally, a guess being that if they had the ability to project their voice into someone's mind, they had the ability to read one as well. She reached into one of her pockets, removing a black jewel and offering it to the one who had spoken, in a manner of speaking. For your hospitality. It is nothing more than what it seems, but it can be used for scrying, or communicating with its twin, she thought, removing an identical gem from the pocket on the opposite side.
((OMG, I posted. It's a sign of the apocalypse.))

"... ow," Courtney said softly, rubbing her temple, "Are you ok, Casanova?" She rolled her shoulders. Something was itching in the back of her mind, almost like she'd forgotten something.
