User ImageAnthony shuffled into the cafe silently and without looking at anything but the door of his "office". He slid past the line of people, snuck behind the employees who all greeted him cheerfully and punched in. With this he dawned his positive out-going demeanor and with a smile said, "Welcome to Cups Coffee, what can I get for you?"

Daniel stepped into the café, the small dinging bell above the door catching him off guard. He twitched slightly as the sound resonated through his head. Young Daniel was on edge after what happened last night. The adrenaline rush had surely kept him focused during the ordeal... but now that it was over, his hands were literally shaking. He hadn't even checked on the woman since the save. Why would he? The cops would probably find out that he had ripped the car door straight off its hinges. Besides, he wanted to be anonymous; he didn't want a lot of media attention. People would be coming up to him all of the time asking him about it; 'The man who saved the pregnant woman.'

As he approached the counter, Daniel couldn't shake the arising thought in his head; what if he had to do it again? What if there was another car crash or if someone was being mugged? Jump into action once again? Hide after it was all over? Daniel wasn't sure if he could do that. Wait a minute... what if he had a costume? Then Daniel could help people without people really knowing who he was! Perfect! His laptop was in the satchel that was strapped around in his shoulder; he'd check online for costumes after getting coffee.

The guy he walked up to had a very cheery mood; something unusual for someone working a low-end job like this. But hey, income was income, right? Daniel took note of the guy's name tag: 'Anthony'. Not really important, but who knows? Maybe Daniel would have to work with the guy some day. Blinking several times to get his head straight, he spoke:

"Yeah... just a medium coffee, two sugars with cream," he was already reaching for his wallet.

Luke walked in, walking quite awkwardly, like he had literally just stumbled into the café, the annoying little resounding noise of the bell just grating at his pounding head. As if he had just been pulled back into the fit, he let out a slight growl at this time. His hood was up, casting a shadow over his face, obscuring people's view of his abnormally colored eyes, not afraid anyone would recognize him.

His head was pounding and he was worn out. Luke had no idea what he had done last night, but he was apparently very active, which means he would probably find another dead body upon his return to the warehouse. Before he had to return, he would take any delay possible, and a large injection of caffeine seemed the best delay as well as beneficial at this point.

Luke was annoyed at the crowd that frequented cafés, mostly worthless and misguided youth just playing around on the internet, writing screenplays no one will read, and trying their hardest to be a distraction for others, striving not to look up porn, remembering that they are in public. They would not survive in the New Society.

Luke threw his right hand into his pocket, acting as if he was just looking for money, but he was really just feeling the paranoia, trying not to draw attention to his demonic claw. He felt his arm, as if thinking he would be able to tell where the darkness ended.

He waited as some other misguided youth spoke with the annoyingly cheery worker. Feeling thankful that, at least at this moment, Wrath was not there to speak with him.

User ImageAnthony nodded, "Sure thing," He punched a button on the computer screen with his thumb and a total rang up for the customer to read, "Your total is $3.26 and could I get a name for when that's ready?" Anthony said just running through the motions he knew all too well. What very few people realized was that Cups was actually his business, he owned this particular franchise and it paid quite handsomely. Handsomely enough to fund other activities.

It also offered a source of information. Anthony knew a lot of what went on in the city at both day and night simply by casually listening in to a conversation being had in his little niche of Delmor. He didn't really notice the kid who had just ordered a coffee, had he been a little more alert he would've noticed that the order was rather more grown-up than most kids his age drank. But as it was he gave little notice to this detail.

"Uh... Daniel. Daniel Gordon," he spoke as he opened his wallet. Managing to get out three dollars, a quarter, and a penny, he handed them over to the guy at the counter. Thanking him, Daniel went over and sat at a booth with his back to the wall. Pulling out his laptop, he started it up and went to the Internet browser. Luckily the coffee shop had free Wi-Fi, so access to the World Wide Web was easy. Coming to his home page of Google, Daniel typed in 'custom costumes'. That yielded nothing useful, so it seemed to Daniel that he would have to make his own makeshift costume. First he thought about the color scheme. What would work well together? After a few minutes of thought Daniel decided on the scheme of red and black. No other superhero had really done that before, right? Typing in 'red bodysuit' Daniel finally got some results and ordered a padded red bodysuit. Then, he got a pair of black gloves that would go up to his elbows, and a similar pair of boots that would go halfway up his thighs. After ordering a large black cape, Daniel pondered the question on how to hide his face. He knew that he would need goggles to protect his eyes from the fierce winds that would penetrate his eye as he flew. Black goggles it was. It was then that he got an idea for the rest of his face. Searching 'red face mask' he was able to come up with a mask that covered everything but his face. With a good pair of scissors, he could cut off the top so people could see his hair and then a hole for his mouth. Now that all of that was ordered, he sat back and smiled.

Anthony quickly prepared the coffee and hummed to himself as he did so, he felt oddly at peace today. Once the coffee was ready he put it in a mug and on a plate and called out, "Daniel, I've got a medium coffee with two sugars and a cream for Daniel." he set it on the service ledge and took up a rag to wipe the counter of the stains of coffee people had carelessly spilled.

Luke wandered up to the counter after the other man had cleared out and, like all the others, jumped onto his computer, probably just for some social networking sight or to work on some paper.

He then stepped up to the counter as the overly-cheery worker returned to the counter and was cleaning it off. "I just want a medium coffee, black." He said, it was easy to tell by his voice that his head was somewhere else, although, maybe this would just be seen as him being very tired, hence his presence here.

Luke could feel the dark presence making itself more and more prominent in the back of his head, Wrath was returning, no telling what he would want, or what he would do.

"Huh?" Daniel mumbled, looking up from his laptop. In all of the excitement of ordering the parts of his 'uniform' he had completely forgotten about the coffee. Standing up and closing the computer, he stepped over to the counter. He nodded and said, "Thanks," before picking up the coffee. Daniel didn't take a sip just yet; it would probably burn his throat. Handling the hot beverage carefully, Daniel left the coffee shop. He was nearly buzzing with excitement.

Anthony quickly punched the cash register's computer screen to ring up the next man in line, "$3.15," Anthony said as he turned and poured the coffee. He set it on the counter and looked at the man, he seemed distracted, or just in need of caffeine with little to no human interaction from whomever might be serving it. "Here you go sir," Anthony said with a nod. He needed this shift to be over, he had very important things to get to.

Luke took out the crumpled bit of cash from his pocket and manged four dollars and set them on the counter. He grabbed the cup and walked away, not worrying about his change, he had a lot more on his mind at the moment that 85 cents.

Luke started to take a drink and felt how hot the coffee was, thankfully, before he actually could take a sip. He then stumbled over and sat down at an open table. He sat down, placing his coffee on the table, and rested his left elbow on the table, letting his head rest on his left hand, just kind of staring down at his cup. All these people seemed to provoke the darkness within, he could feel something. Talking to himself, somehow, probably wouldn't look all that strange in this particular coffee shop.

Luke could feel it, Wrath was recovering from the recoil he felt when the sun rose during one of his rampages, soon, the demonic would be speaking with him again, no telling what his orders would be this time.

Dropping the 85 cents into the tip jar he went into the managers office and shut the door and sat down with a heavy sigh. Who was The Mastermind? What did he want with Delmor? Of all the places to set up a crime enterprise why such a sleepy town? He needed access to Oual and any information he may have.

User ImageZii walked wearily into the coffee shop. Her attempts to pawn the gun had been unsuccessful (which, considering the events of the past few hours, she was beginning to consider a sign that the universe must just want her to have lethal force constantly at her disposal), and her hangover had only worsened. She needed caffeine...and to be someplace that wasn't her apartment.

She felt an odd feeling as she glanced over at the rather catatonic-looking man sitting alone at a table. She tried to brush her uneasiness off--he looked like he'd probably had a pretty bad night too, so maybe she was just picking up weird vibes.

Ugh, it hurt to think.

Zii walked up and leaned on the counter as she squinted at the menu. It hurt to read, too, apparently.

"Any chance I could get some service up here?" she called out to whatever employees might be within earshot. "Or do you just want me to lie down so you can inject this crap intravenously? I'm cool with whatever."

Luke looked up from his coffee as the girl stumbled in, not too much unlike he did a few minutes prior. Though, she seemed a bit more...verbal, than he was willing to be.

However, there was something there, Luke could feel it, there was something about her, something....something he couldn't quite identify, but it was there.

Luke's eyes fixed upon her, he moved them only long enough to take a sip of his coffee, which had just cooled enough to be able to be ingested. Then, his eyes fixed right back upon her...

What was it? There was something about her, a force. Whatever it was, it stirred up Wrath, Luke could feel him about to resurface.

Luke was unable to take his eyes off of her, as much as he wanted to, to attempt to avoid suspicion, he, he couldn't. He had to figure this out!

User ImageZii was getting the creepy feeling that someone was staring at her. It wasn't unusual for her to be stared at in public; her fashion sense wasn't what anyone would call "modest" and she had learned from experience that the people she had one night stands with didn't just disappear afterward no matter how much she sometimes wished they would (she was, of course, hoping it was just the former and not the latter). But this feeling was of the more nagging and ominous sort, and she found herself growing increasingly more aware of the eyes on her, and increasingly more nervous of who they might belong to.

She almost wanted to hug the barista who finally came over to take her order. He was a cute kid, probably a college student judging by the conspicuous empty hole he had in his lip that Zii knew normally contained a piercing and the five-o-clock shadow at eleven in the morning.

"I'll take a large coffee, cutie," she said, smiling as the kid got a little flustered. "Almond roast, if you would, with more half-and-half than coffee."

"Uh...that'll be $4.05," the kid said, "and could I get a name?"

"Cheetara," Zii said with a smirk as she pulled out four dollar bills and slid a nickel from the "take a penny, leave a penny" bowl over toward the register. The kid gave her a look that was both amused and slightly confused, but he didn't protest.

It was time for the moment of truth. At this point, Zii was convinced that the eyes staring at her belonged to someone from her past crawling out of the woodwork to make this day even more complicated, so she was surprised to find that they belonged to the shady looking guy she had noticed before. But that didn't make her any less uneasy.

"Um...can I help you?" she said.

Luke tried to look away and look inconspicuous as the woman that he was staring at noticed him. Of course, this proved of no use, she had already noticed him and made her way over.

In response to her question, all Luke could respond with was an "Uh..." His normally calm exterior was now visibly offset. Something about this woman, that...that strange feeling about her, it...it wouldn't let him rest, it made him feel very uneasy, though not in a very bad way.

It was then that Luke felt a dark sensation wash over him. Then, that chilling voice made itself known 'That girl...' Luke let out a gasp after the awkward silence that followed his last demi-statement.

'Listen up,' Came the voice of Wrath, 'She is very powerful in the ways of darkness, but, I don't think she realizes it, she is a necessary ally.' In Luke's mind, in his eyes, there was now, standing behind him a dark mass that was Wrath.

Luke was struck speechless, then, more instruction came, 'I must speak with her!' This was the most frightening instruction Wrath could give him, he needed to give up control once more.

"So it shall be." Luke mumbled to himself and Wrath.

He then looked back up at Zii, "I...uh..." What could he say, 'the demon that controls me said I should speak to you'? She would think he was insane, though, this long pause probably wasn't helping that notion to disappear.

"I, I can't explain, but I feel I just need to speak with you." Was the best sentence he could muster.
