I'm pro-choice. If you haven't planned for a baby and there is no means to support the child financially and you wouldn't be able to bear the thought of putting the child up for adoption, AND/OR if the child in your belly is going to be born with some sort of retardation/disease/disorder, then yes, abortion is the way to go.

Yes, it's noble seeing parents raising children that are born with Down Syndrome and all of that, but it still eats away at them and their marriage/union. Rather I hate myself for "killing an innocent life" than I hate my life for the rest of my days as well as the child who would make my life miserable.

And also, what if you get raped? A impregnated by the disgusting ******** a*****e who raped you? Who in their right mind wants to keep a baby that will constantly remind them of the attack? Of the coward who was capable of such an offense...

I find it quite narrow minded from the supposed "land of the free" to restrict women in such a way - this will only lead to illegal back-street abortions and ladies, we all know how bad those can end up from the horror stories we've all heard. Wouldn't it be an act of a good mother to make the proper choice and decision by aborting the child than treat the child poorly because the child was not wanted then or at all? And with foster families these days, you can never be too sure what the child might experience then.

I'm scared. Women's sexuality is under attack! They're trying to make all abortion illegal, EVEN IF IT WILL MAIM OR HAS A GOOD CHANCE OF KILLING THE WOMAN, plus they don't have any exception for rape or incest.

I don't want to die or be seriously maimed or handicapped if I ever want to have kids!

It really scares me, because it shows me just HOW much power the Religious Right has, and how much more they might do in the name of TEH BIBLE.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't hate people who believe in X-tianity, but I don't really like the idea of a patriarchal book that basically says that women are for ******** and beating and owning and killing and that they're slimy bad evil creatures running the country......
-wakes up momentarily- I dunno what to tell you. From a moral standpoint I really don't care. Personally if you have a kid then you have a kid period if you don't you don't. Mankind has this weird ability to do as it wants but at the second of some outside force regulating it turns rebel and makes a mees of the whole thing so I see it as you do as you please that's less of an issue I have to vote on and end up looking like an evil b*****d for choosing sides. On a political standpoint. You have nothing to worry about. The American government is too divided to even think about coming together on a subject like this and making a concrete decision. It'll die and blow over soon. Thus is the fate of cases such as these Roe v Wade and the baby Doe cases for example not to mention devil may cry attitudes of interst groups and non state actors such as the baptist convention, taking note that in previous "moral issues" these were the people that made such an uproar pushing to ban the building of casinos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast but a large (more than half) congression of them live on this said coast and enjoy the nice big tax break. Okay I'm done....blargagaga! -falls back to sleep- ZZZZZZzzzzzz

This kind of makes me glad to be in a country where people still fight over equality and corruption of the political party that fought to win equal rights for all in my country. Either way, it's still got some pretty scenery and animals and the sort around, yes?

I do not know what to say... When you get to long letters, there's a certain implicit intimacy of the situation that says "I as a third party should not get involved".

I kind of agree. I always felt special knowing that when I get a love letter from Marcus that it is for my eyes only.

Koi, I think you should take down the letter and instead write a question or comment on how you feel about it. She would probably feel a little upset if she knew that you were letting us read her letter.

Just a suggestion, though.

This made me mad a bit, because my girlfriend was raped a few years ago, and she decided that she was going to keep the child, because she doesnt believe in abortion.

If you are going to make a comment like that, word it better then "Who in their right mind...".

I agree with PhantomPhoenix here. While the pregnancy and child might remind you of the attack, it's not the kid's fault. And who knows? Maybe, just maybe, the kid brings you happiness, which is something neither you or the rapist would have expected. I understand that it doesn't justify the attack, but remember that while the child was concieved in violence, the baby didn't cause it, and it can grow and prosper, and you have three choices: abort and move on, not abort, move on and let the child bring love and happiness into your life, or not abort, don't move on and make a child pay for an offense he didn't commit, making you both miserable. If you want to abort a pregnancy that happened by rape, fine. But don't use that argument, madamfluff.

She probably would. I haven't considered that aspect of it. I was just incredibly flustered and unsure of whether I handled the situation the right way. Man, I'm a effin' bonehead...* headdesk*

I wrote it for her and to comfort her, letting her know that she could not push me away or distance me by doing what she needs to do. That's why I want to write her a physical love letter on paper and send it to her.

God, I'm an idiot...*goes to a corner*

I apologise gentlemen, I get so angry about rape because it's one of the highest crimes in the country here. I did word it wrong and only realised this when you brought it up Phoenix - I got caught up in my argument that I forgot about bias and other opinions.
