In the "Should Edmund's shop be renamed?" thread there were 9768 votes and 887 replies. So 9% of people who voted also wanted to say something in addition to voting. I'm not sure if it's correct to assume everyone who posted also voted. Maybe some people who couldn't vote decided to post their "vote".

ok i was just wanting some thought on the art subforum I know everyone is doing freebies there and i have a freebie thread too but well I was wondering if opening a shop is gonna be ok (being i kinda feel odd charging) I mean i don't plan to charge much for my banners and stuff (they are kinda noobish bannners anyway) but i just was wondering if anyone would find it rude or something? cat_sweatdrop

When my banner shop was active the most I charged was ten grand for some detailed animated stuff. Most of the other stuff I made went for about eight hundred gold because they were small and I could crank them out very fast. I don't think people would mind paying a few hundred gold for something small to toss up in the signature space from you.

Deviant Art has a boatload of things for The GIMP like brushes and tutorials including ones for signatures.
I haven't done an animated signature (which was pretty much visible layers to make it look like my avatar was blinking before I changed faces) in quite a while. For me the price I charged was based on how long it took to make a signature so I think you'd have a very reasonable price. You shouldn't feel bad about charging people because that art forum is there for people to have a place to feel comfortable running a shop to earn some gold for the goodies on Gaia.
