Wohoo for advice! I've got LOTS of practice at it >.>....job hunting that is ^^; not the giving advice.
The important thing in this day and age is the AMOUNT of applications, gotta do a lot T.T or it just doesn't work.

god. B.M. (or Bmus.) is 4-5 years. M.M. (master of Music) is another 2. and then D.M.A. (where i am aiming, doctor of Music Arts) is 3 on top of that. in addition of the 2 years of comi college i was taking to get an audition portfolio together.

I'm something else alright -.-
student still. i'm majoring in music Composition, and i was also majoring in french horn performance (i was dual majoring, i would never not major composition), until finances dropped off. they let you rent them cheap in high school, but the rate goes from $30 a year in high school, to like $90 a month after...it's $9000+ to buy one...so i'm going full composition for now. i am much better at it anyways.
composer...i have composed since 6th grade...though nothing is published.
i do choir too...but that's because it's fun. I might major voice after i have a career. idk. i don't plan to permanently stop going to college once i stop needing to. knowledge is for knowledge's sake right? or so my friends like to say.
and true about the twinkies to an extent. i'm never comfortable in my own skin, so drowning me in it would complicate the problem.

Nice! I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket so being able to compose is pretty epically cool. But wow O.O instruments are EXPENSIVE!

no dear, you carry RHYTHMS on a bucket. you carry tunes in your head and your heart.
and yes...this is a fact that i have mourned extensively. you can get guitars and violins for 40 dollars if you are careful. i spent 200 dollars on an ebay french horn only to have my teacher tell me it was worthless and never to bring it to class again. there are grades to instruments, and if you are playing on a non-professional grade teachers tell you that you "ruin the ensemble" (this was a while back, before i knew anything about instrument purchase procedures, and such.)
also, do you know what you're going to do Occupationally after college?

uh oh. don't say that. it's an experience thing. the more music is in your ear, the more you gain an ear for music. there are no holes or flaws on your end.

YAY! except, you get off work like an hour after i should have gone to sleep, but i was bothering people in the musician's forums.
