The GD – General Discussion Forums
Just because I don’t like discussing the finer points of such fascinating topics as “Why Australians need an ethnic cleansing” or “Zombies have attacked your town. What do you do?” doesn’t mean someone out there doesn’t. Now, those topics above were taken directly from an area of the Gaia forums known as “The GD”, or The General Discussion forum, as indicated by the bolded header above. There, users can post topics about all kinds of various things, and have meaningful and serious (Ha-Ha! Sarcasm!) discussions about them. Now, some might say that I’m being elitist about this whole area, but that’s not true. The vast majority of topics here are outright crazy, such as the whole “zombies” thing, although I can understand the zaniness. This area of the forums is just simple discussion about various topics. Most are just for fun, silly, or not anything to get serious about. But there are some topics that can take on a very nasty connotation and turn the whole place on its head. Occasionally, someone will post a topic about “Men are superior to Women.” Then, the whole thing turns into a “flame-fest”. For those of you who don’t know what a “flame-fest” is, it essentially means that the discussion turns into fighting between various groups and leaves everyone feeling grouchy and in a bad mood. But the GD isn’t where most of the problems in this area arise.
