Valik growled, still walking away from the house. ignoring Selia's yells. He walked towards the gates.
Boothe frowned at Marcus. "I'm sorry, Marcus. Sebastian is like family to us and all, but I don't know what has gotten into him." Boothe said sincerely. He looked up at Lilyann. "And I'm sorry he was being a rude guest. I'm just worried if he's planning on running back to the camp...him traveling alone for that long." he rubbed at his bald spot as if there was hair there. And again I have failed as a brother. Boothe thought,, blinking back tears.

Valerie stood. "I'll go with him. He shouldn't be alone, and I'm not much help here. Lilyann can carry out the plan we had." She said, looking at the elven witch for approval. Lilyann nodded. "Go quickly." She said, opening the door for Valerie, who took off running. "Valik! Wait!" She could see him heading towards the gates.

Selia sat in the pub corner, drinking. A man came up and sat next to her, not recognizing his royalty. "Can I by you a drink?" He smiled at her, holding a hand out in offer. Selia looked up, her tattoo still hidden. "That would be lovely."

Lilyann and Marcus looked at Boothe. Lilyann sat down next to him and draped an arm over his large shoulders. "Let's go get a drink." Marcus offered to buy.

Valik had just walked out of the gates when he heard Valerie's calls. He didn't look back at her, he only stopped in place and continued to hold the jar to his chest, his black nails still retracted. "I'm not going back to the camp." he answered his brother's suspicions in a low voice. The breeze had picked up, making his slick black hair sway. He stared out into the bare and dead forest ahead. It looked ghastly, lifeless.
When Valerie caught up with him, he still did not look at her, just out into the dad forest, his pupils large. "I see things sometimes." he said suddenly. "First they started as nightmares," he began in a strained voice. "but now they happen when I'm awake, too." Before continuing, he took a deep sigh. "I see villages burning, children dying, mothers crying." his voice trailed off, and he stopped talking.

Boothe sighed. "Yeah, sure." Boothe nodded as he stood, smiling at Lilyann. "Selia probably shouldn't be alone, anyway." he added as he started to head to the pub.

Sebastian woke again to not Lady, but Donnie. "Sorry you did not wake up to a pretty mistress," Donnie smirked. "What happened to your ear?" he asked suddenly. Sebastian lifted his hand to his ear where the top of it had been shot off. "It was shot off by one of the machines when they attacked my village." Sebastian answered. Donnie just nodded and set his spear down. "Are my friends back?" Sebastian asked, obviously concerned. Donnie shook his head. "No." Donnie headed towards the opening of the tent. "I can go if you are worried, but you can not says Lady." Donnie said slowly. Sebastian shook his head no. "That's alright." Sebastian said. Donnie nodded and exited the tent. Sebastian sat up and ruffled his hair. "Where the ******** are you guys." he muttered to himself.

Valerie looked at him, worried. "Valik.. do you have powers we don't know of? They might be trying to overcome any barriers you have set on them with fear." She spoke softly, much like a doctor would to a nurse while a patient slept, and put a hand on his shoulder. The forest moved in the light wind, some the snow that brightened the darkness shifted with it. It gave off an eerie feeling, like it was trying to seduced the pair into traveling through its dark maze. Valerie's eye shone intensely as she fought the urge to run to the trees.

So this is what it is like.. to be normal, on the same level Selia thought. The man came back and handed her another drink with a smile. "I haven't seen you around here before. New to town?" Selia nodded, not wanting to give her name. "I'd leave soon if I were you... The princess has a pet wolf and is planning on taking this place over again. Her father was horrible, I can only imagine what that did to her." He swallowed his drink quickly, belching after. Selia sipped her drink and kept quiet. They're afraid..

Lilyann and Marcus went with Boothe to the pub, ordering drinks as soon as they arrived.

Valik didn't look at her. "I've always kept my powers a secret," he said, his voice strained. "but something isn't right. Ever since I...turned...I've gained even more abilities. The powers I had before have even become stronger." Valik stuffed his free hand in his pocket. No wonder people fear me; all they have to do is look at me. he thought. "Sometimes I can't control myself when I'm a wolf." he added slowly. He sighed, knowing he had some explaining to do. "When I first turned, I noticed it but didn't want to accept it. I could hear everyone's thoughts. But it was all at once, flooding my brain, driving me insane. My other powers that I've discovered," he paused before continuing, trying to find the words. "they only come alive when I'm a wolf. It's like someone else is inside of me." He looked at her to see if she would run away, too see if she would look at him wildly with her big eyes.

Boothe sat a seat away from the man with Selia, hearing what he had said. He turned to the man. "Pet wolf, you say? He is a man, mind you." Boothe snapped, taking his drink in his hand.

Selia grinned. "So I've heard. Aren't you the famous brother, sir?" She asked, hoping he would catch on that this man didn't recognize her at all.

Valerie looked at him, not with fear, but with concern. "That must be so difficult to hide.." She whispered, keeping her eyes on him. "Valik, do you know what kind of wolf bit you?" Her thoughts were racing. She read of something like this happening, but only when there was an alpha in the mix. If it was a technological wolf that was an alpha, maybe its powers of analysis was being charged with Valik's mental abilities. The possibilities were endless to Valerie, whose mind was racing still at an incredible rate.

Boothe smirked. "Why, yes, I am his brother, princess." Boothe turned his glance to the man. "Now, what was it you were saying? My brother is a pet wolf, hm? The princess is going to be a tyrant?" Boothe sipped at the straw, still looking at the man, raising a brow.

Valik shrugged. "Dunno, don't care." Valik took his hand out of his pocket, looking at it as if it was new. "I just have to learn to control it." A grin spread across his face. He turned his palm outward, facing the forest. He balled his hand into a fist, then suddenly let it back open. Ice sprung out from his palm, hitting a bare tree. As soon as the ice came in contact with the tree, ice instantly spread across it. A few icicles hung from a branch here and there. "Now that, I've always been able to do. But not like this." he brought his hand into a fist, but didn't release anymore ice, only smiled at his work.

Selia had a wide grin on her face, pushing nicety and stepping into sarcasm. Her eyes had a playful chill in them. It was like looking at a cat. You knew it could hurt you, but it was toying with you. The man gulped and the bar quieted. Everyone watched with anxious eyes. Selia broke into laughter and clapped the man lightly on the shoulder. "Don't worry, lad, I'm not angry at all." The tension eased and his posture relaxed slightly. "My pardons, Princess. I had no ide-" "I know. Gather people tomorrow. Have them come to the castle. Tell them what you wish, but know that it is far from a threat." Selia sipped her drink again and looked at the peering eyes that surrounded her. "That goes for the rest of you, too. Main gates at high noon, please." The man nodded at them and ordered another drink, trying to put the atmosphere back in place.

Valerie watched with wide eyes, amazed at the audacity Valik had just shown. He seemed so quiet and reserved to her. This was something she'd expect out a teenage boy. A normal boy. She smirked a little, biting back laughter. The tree had several inches of ice on it, not just a top coat. There was a blue sheen to it, showing just how strong and pressured it was. Valerie wouldn't be surprised if the trunk was about to crack. "Come, let's walk around a bit more. I may not get cold easily, but it's starting to chill even more out here." She walked up towards the ice covered tree, marveling still, and waited for Valik.

Boothe chuckled along until Selia spoke to the crowd. His face dropped, his eyes narrowed. "Watch your words, lad." he said in a quiet, strained voice, leaning to the man. The hearty smile returned to his face as he raised his tarnished mug of mead, acting as if nothing had happened.

A smirk spread across Valik's face. He cradled the jar more tightly as he walked after Valerie. He placed his hands on the frozen trunk, his eyes seemingly glowing with pride. But there must be some downfall to this all; I can't be invincible. He worried, but his smirk never escaped his face. He turned to Valerie with new eyes. "You know, I don't always see bad things," he began, not taking his eyes away from her, "I see you." He stuffed his chilled hand in his pocket. "And a small one." Valik looked more serious now as he glanced at her belly.

Lilyann and Marcus were standing behind Boothe, just watching. When everyone seemed to ease again, they did as well. Lilyann looked at Marcus, her eyes careful. Her son was watching Selia. Not intently, but keeping her in sight. 'I guess old dogs don't learn new tricks..' Lilyann shrugged to herself and drank deeply. Marcus just kept Selia in his line of vision. She had removed her hood and shawl completely, exposing parts of her back, ink and all. The tattoo on her collar stuck out, showing her blood status now that the bar knew. Some people stared, others ignored it entirely.

Selia continued to talk to man, not catching Boothe's minor threat. She asked of the kingdom, how it had been surviving without a ruler, how the laws were being upheld. Most of the answers were some form of "Well, they aren't really working out" or "We have no way to do that anymore"..

Valerie nodded. "Yes, that can be foreseeable. There is a uncertainty with that, though." She did not make eye contact. While an open person when directly asked things, Valerie could not muster the strength mentally to discuss the possibilities in a vampiric pregnancy. There was too many variables, and survival rate of both slow heartbeats was almost none. She did not wish to think of death when she did not need to.

Boothe listened as Selia interviewed various citizens. He looked around at them, frowning. Many were in basically rags. It was clear that this was now a more common place than before; people sulked in shadowy corners asking for gold pieces. "Looks like there's more work to be done than originally thought." Boothe sighed, taking a large, and well needed, gulp of mead. He wondered what the folk thought of an Earth elf killing their king. He wondered if they cared at all.

Valik continued to eye her despite her rejection of eye contact. "Some of what I see comes true," Valik let out a breathy laugh then, "but maybe it's just a coincidence." He shook his head, trying to shake off his current mind set, that he was oh-so powerful and mighty. "But this is different. I feel it this time, Val." His hand reached for her shoulder, her skin seeming to warm his rough hand. "You're going to be okay. I'll make sure of that." Valik's voice was lowered now, hinted with both concern and sincerity.

Selia finished another drink, talking to more and more people as the night went on and she wandered around the pub. She sighed heavily and came back to Boothe, Lilyann, and Marcus. "Most said that this place is utter s**t. They all seem ready for change, in any form, and most agreed to spread word about meeting in two days, rather than tomorrow. Gives us more time to plan, gives them more time to spread the word." Selia ordered a last drink and swigged it quickly, grimacing at the dry alcohol. Her senses were dulled, the drinks fuzzing her mind. Everything seemed to be a little more spaced away, like looking through a piece of glass.

Lilyann nodded. "That's fine with me. You and Boothe are more than welcome to sleep under my roof, of course." Marcus raised an eyebrow at his mother, then turned to look at the other two. "Was there another option?" Lilyann just smacked his shoulder with the back of her hand.

Valerie shivered a little at Valik's touch, but did not shy away. "That's very reassuring, actually. Thank you." Her voice was incredibly sincere. Valerie trusted Valik, almost like a sibling trusts the other. It was odd to her, but she did not question it. There wasn't a doubt in her mind that Valik could easily tap into her thoughts at any time. It wasn't a romantic attraction, but an attraction of a sort. More of admiration than anything else. She turned to look him in the eye now. "Miscarriage is common. If it is to happen, it will in the next few weeks. If not, then your prediction is correct." Valerie kept it that simple for her own sake. There was a slight quaver in her voice when she said it still, despite her efforts to keep emotionless on the topic.

Boothe shifted on his bar stool. Thirteen mugs of mead down, yet he showed no signs of being intoxicated. "Sebastian is growing restless by now I'm sure," Boothe suggested. In fact, he's probably shitting himself by now. Boothe thought as he accepted another mug from the bartender. Though it's not like one of them could easily journey to him just to say 'oh, hey, we're gonna be late.' Sebastian would have to sit his restless a** down and wait. Boothe worried for Sebastian. Even though he was with Lady, Sebastian's coughing fits had shown no sign of receding.

Valik let his arm drop. Valik remembered then how protective he was of her, even when they first met, despite her kind, when Crystal and her brother practically banished her. He knew shortly after of his instant feelings for her. Valik let out a breath and pushed his hand back into his pocket. "Maybe we should head back to Lilyann's. We're getting pretty deep into the forest." He said, looking away. Too close to home. "I probably have some apologizing to do."
PostPosted: Fri Jan 31, 2014 5:48 pm

Valerie nodded, and turned towards the broken city. "Honestly, between you and I, you have nothing to apologize for. Selia's acting like a whore, and you called her out on it. She has obvious feelings for Sebastian, why should she try and play them off? It's unfair." Valerie smiled a little now, turning and looking up at Valik. He was in the right, even if he could've handled it a bit more gracefully. It was a much needed levity to her to finally speak that thought.

Selia nodded. "I could send a message. We have carrier birds. It would get there by morning if we sent it in the next hour or so." She suggested, standing and placing money on the bar. The waiter nodded in thanks and smiled, placing his left hand over his right shoulder, keeping the palm out. Selia's eyes widened, but she returned the gesture. It was like a salute in her people, and a highly respectable one at that. It was simple, yes, but it touched her deeply.

Lilyann and Marcus were on their way outside by then, turning to see the bar tender salute Selia. They smiled a little, realizing that Selia being at the crown just may be a good thing rather than a chaotic event.

Valik attempted to hold back the laughter but failed. His mouth gaped in shock at Valerie's words. He shrugged, a playful smile on his face. "I just need to control my anger." he chuckled. Passing the frozen tree, he looked up at the gates. "Man this place is s**t." It would be hard to fix this place up during this time with the war and all. Yet Valik knew Selia could manage it well. Valik has had no visions of Scariville, but he hoped he would soon. His visions rarely were good, though. Perhaps it's just because of this chaotic time... he thought, reassuring himself.

Boothe smiled at the gesture. He left a pouch of gold pieces on the table, adjusted his bolster sword, and headed out of the tavern. "Good, we all know how protective Sebastian is," he glanced at Selia, "especially of you." He showed a small smile and continued walking to Lilyann's home with his hands stuffed in his trouser pockets.
