The animal nerd in Varuna wondered how it was possible to have purple glowing crystals, which should have created a black light effect, didn’t make the giant scorpion youma light up like a glowstick, since scorpions glow under blacklights.
But that was another issue entirely! Right now they had to try and take it out without too many people getting hurt! Palatine could only do so much on her own!
Trying to get underneath… she wasn’t too sure about that, but she could try and knock it down, and hopefully flip it on its side!
Varuna nodded to her aunt and quickly stepped into position, holding up her hands to push the snow under the scorpion’s many legs.
“Snow slide!” she called out, the first thing she’d said since coming into the Rift. Hopefully people would be able to get out of the way in time to not get covered in snow! If not… she would just apologize later.
Snow Slide
Snow suddenly materializes one foot beneath the feet of Varuna's opponent, pushing them up and off solid ground. With a quick movement of her hand, the snow rolls out from under them, this time with enough power to knock them down. When the snow materializes, it's within a eight foot radius, making an attack on multiple opponents possible if they are standing near each other, or in the path of the moving snow. On top of the wind being knocked out of them from the fall, once down in the snow, the opponent will find out that it really is snow! And quite cold and wet, and even when the magic snow disappears, they will still be soaked. Varuna has the ability to choose which way the snow moves, giving her the slight advantage of surprise. The attack itself goes just fast enough to level her opponents, and only lasts about ten seconds — just enough time to cause someone to fall and/or push them away from herself or others. It can only be used three times, a fourth being her final limit. If she causes the snow to roll towards her, Varuna will cause herself to fall as well. The attack range is about twenty-five feet for its center.
TL;DR -- s**t’s covered in snow, yo.

Sailor Altair
"N-Newgrange."
"P-Paris."
She breathed a relieved inward and outward breath before repeating each of their names with a voice holding both gladness and a hint of being close to tears again. She really needed to kick the cry all the way out of her system and to focus more. Her crystal light probably did a little jig, too, as she swung her gaze in the direction of one voice to the other.
"I-I probably just have some bruises luckily," she replied thankfully when she was given her turn to be asked about her own condition and likewise didn't disclose much about it. She then walked carefully towards the light that moved in the general direction of Paris' voice and watched him attempt to open the door there. "I-I don't know if it may be of help, but in case it might I am pretty sure that if I aim at a target, I-I can shoot scalpels at it; and, I-I can manage shooting scalpels a few times."
Newgrange tried not to groan when he heaved himself up; his head rank fiercely and his arm was giving him more trouble than he would have liked. He didn't mention anything, just reached up to rub at his shoulder. His back would hurt in the morning, but adrenaline was numbing things to a tolerable point. He hated that he could hear things going on up there but couldn't see them. He hated that people might be in trouble and he was stuck in a little room.
But.
He wasn’t stuck alone, so he had to force himself to stop thinking about other things. He shook his head and grabbed the largest of the glowing crystals around him before he forced himself to stand.
If they were at the door, he figured there wasn't much point in crowding it; he was more interested in where they landed—and making sure there weren't any important construction flaws that might result in another flaw.
"All right--well, it's a pleasure to meet you two, and I'm looking forward to laughing with you both about this when we get out of here." He was trying to stay lighthearted, but he was determined, all the same.
They'd get out of here. One way or the other. But he had to stop thinking about what would happen if that portal closed before they got out of here, so he forced himself to a new topic.
"Scalpels?" he asked as he carefully walked the perimeter of the room. "That's nifty." Unless they ricocheted off the door, but he could only hope senshi magic was a little more refined. He wasn't exactly a magic expert.
"…My magic makes the earth shake a little. So I don't think I'll get to show that off any time down here," he added as he walked; he seemed distracted, moving the crystal as he walked, checking the ground and walls for any sign of…anything.
This place had looked pretty cleaned out, but if the door was solidly closed and the only way down was a fall, he didn't know who might have been in here last—or if they'd left anything useful lying around.

As the number of visitors grew, the annoyance of the Scorpion they faced to could viewed by how quickly it was moving its long tail. At the end of that tail lay the barb that contained its venom. Though a normal scorpion’s venom would not send a healthy adult to the hospital, this was indeed much more than a normal scorpion. Judging by the collection of remains in its claimed ‘den’, no one wanted to find out just how painful its bite could be.
However, when Slievenamon blew her horn, the Scorpion did not seem to turn and face her. In the box of a room, it instead seemed to be slightly confused. Her sound was echoing along the walls causing light vibrations that the youma was picking up. But when it finally did settle on a target, it was not human at all but a cat. Arthur was going to the other side of the room and the hiss the creature let out showed how much it disapproved of this!
Tail coming up, the youma began moving its 8 legs after the feline, its barb now almost dripping with venom. It was just about to strike out at the feline when something pounced off its back. The lantern thrown by Aokigahara caused it to freeze in place and turn back around to the group. In its spin, one claw made a large sweeping motion towards Arthur contacting with several of the crystals in the room and sending sharp shards at the feline.
With Andronicus, Kairatos, Havasu, and Themiscyra all now running forwards, the scorpion swung out its other claw. But it was not looking to strike them all with a blow. Instead, with its claw open, it moved to grab hold of Andronicus before she could strike her with the mace. As Kairatos, Havasu, and Themiscyra headed for its legs, one had to wonder if the youma took tap lessons. Those eight legs, ends as sharp as knives, began moving quickly in an attempt to step on them. With each step, the ground shook slighting. One miss step and someone could end up on their behind!
Or into a pile of snow!
Cast by Varuna, the ground under and around it suddenly began to cover in a layer of snow. It was just enough that when one of the legs found the cold substance, it slipped, throwing the creature off balance along with anyone else around its legs. But now, with its legs out from under it, who wouldn’t want to try something?
But it wasn’t down and out yet. One claw went down in an attempt to right itself. Its tail though came forward towards the group remaining by the entrance! It lashed to strike Varuna, Falias, Nirvana, and Palatine.
--- While all that was going on, the trio that had found themselves separated from the rest of the group were greeted with several smaller rocks and crystals falling into the hole they had come through. The move the youma they were lucky to have avoided moved, the loser it made some things above. But at least they had light!
As Paris tried to tug the door open, the rusted door knob popped out into his hand leaving behind a cracked hole in its place. Looking through it would only see more rock blocking their way!
But the door was old wood. Team work and force might be enough to at least get through the first barrier! Those rocks though were another story...

Palatine jumped out of the way of the scorpion's tale, grabbing Varuna by the arm and taking her niece with her.
“Well, we could do without the tale, but at least your snow did a little bit of good,” she said.
Hopefully the others would take advantage of it. She was sure they would. So far, she thought the group at the Academy was pretty level-headed, and large enough to take care of a single youma. They might be missing three of their number, but those that remained made up a pretty strong group.
If only she wasn't so useless. Palatine had no delusions that she would be able to do much against a giant scorpion. Her teapot wasn't good for fighting, and she had a feeling a punch to the face, her favored technique, wasn't going to serve her well in this situation. She felt bad for standing back and letting the others handle the threat, but what more could she do? At least she wasn't getting in the way.
“What do you think our chances would be of yanking a leg off while it's busy dealing with the snow?” she wondered.

Dallol, Squire of Uranus
It didn't bother Dallol one bit at all when she arrived at the damaged building fashionably late while trailing behind the group that was heading in the same direction. If Corinth was going to look like death warmed over, she was going to stick close to him and do everything within her ability to make sure that the both of them got back in one piece.
Picking up one of the crystal fragments from the ground, she turned to look at Corinth, her hand still holding onto his without breaking contact the entire time. "Feeling better any?" They would figure out where the others had gone and join them as soon as they were able to. She needed to make sure that Corinth was alright first before anything else happened out here.
In Corinth's mind, it was better late than never. Turning his attention to Dallol he smiled. "Yeah, I'm alright now, promise." He held up a hand and then crossed his heart with it.
"Not sure where we should go from here though?" He said, looking around, trying to listen for any hint of where the others might have gone. "Which way do you think? Up?"

Havasu Falls, Squire of Pluto
Havasu was doing his best to plan out his move as he raced towards the giant arachnid but was coming up with bubkis. Just a general idea to tie the thing up. He shouted out a warning to the blue clad knight (Andronicus) who was in the path of scorpion's claw, "Watch out!" He wasn't able to do much more then that because soon he was dodging his own danger, the spindly legs. It was all he could do to keep out of their sharp range and then his footing went to hell in a handbasket.
One moment he was on stone, crappy, damaged as hell, eerie as all get out but solid under his feet except when the youma made the ground shake slightly but now... now he was on snow. His boots were not conditioned for snow! Hav's feet skidded out from under him and he landed on his a**, hard, and soaked his whole lower half. Luckily for him, he wasn't the only one who went down but so did the scorpion. As the magical snow dissipated the squire scrambled to his feet and tried to rope one of the creature's legs.

Andronicus Squire of Uranus
There were a great many things that Andronicus had thought to do. Dodge, weave, slide down under the massive claws. She envisioned quite a lot of it as a video game, using reaction commands to jump onto it's back and devastate the creature.
Turns out, real life monster fighting is not the same as video game monster fighting.
And, more so, those times where you screw up and your character gets eaten by the monster? Yeah... yeah that hurts like a mofo.
"Shii------!" The claw grabbed her around the middle and she let out a string of profanities that may or may not have been part of a fandom or video game.
So much for listening to her own battle advice...

Sailor Altair
There were more rocks behind the door and Sailor Altair thought that again she'd almost be ready to cry some more. She wanted to throw a tantrum like a toddler and suspected perhaps it was regression she was trying to combat now, something she suddenly recalled reading about in a medical book. Instead, she resisted the urge to let out a frustrated sigh and charged at one of the side walls with very assertive steps but only halted and slowed the rest of her momentum when her open palm made a light smack of a sound as it pressed against the surface. She then pressed her whole figure the rest of the way against said wall to join her hand, particularly pushing her ear, cheek, and all accompanying parts following that side of her face in an attempt to observe if she might hear anything.
At least also in the process filled with barely contained desperation this was a comprise at quelling the childish tantrum that crossed her mind in that is was short of repeatedly knocking her head on the wall and whining until persistent tears and wails were unleashed. She turned over on the wall so her back was against it now, a bit of calmness regained more so in comparison to her head nearly being threatened to be convinced into and consumed by foolishness just the moment before.
"L-likewise, it's nice to meet you both as well," Altair replied with a smile sent in both their directions as a bit of brightness returned after the disheartening discovery that there were what looked to be lots of rocks to contend with behind the door. "Hmm, I-I'll try thinking about what would happen if I try to use my magic here," and then she sent another sweeping look at the room again with a slow turn of her head as she thought about what she has noticed about her magic and hoped her analysis at this point in time was still somewhat sound at least and wasn't largely her imagination going wild, "U-um, well, come to think of it, I-I recall now noticing the scalpels always head straight at the general direction of my target at the point I fired at and eventually disappear if they don't hit my mark but that's odd since there were quite a few obstacles at the time and a scalpel bouncing back should have happened by now I think. I-I'm, I think I'm pretty sure that all the scalpels eventually disappear though. Perhaps u-um I-I'm thinking now that it may pass through those that are not targets, that I'm not aiming at? But I-I'll keep trying to be careful when I use my magic."
She moved next to an available space to try and check the thickness of the rocks behind the door as she continued to reply to Newgrange. "To be able to shake the earth at any extent is amazing and can be surprisingly useful I think," she said and imagined in awe that went with a widening of her smile in fascination of what that was possibly like to witness in a different setting. And then she found herself asking as she went about her hopeful inspection of the pile of rocks, "N-Newgrange, perhaps, do you think these rocks can be shaken loose?" And then her gaze was drawn to darting at the door as well since her next question was for the most part an added reflex as a thought of more inspiration to consider, "P-Paris, oh, do you think we could use that door as an umbrella of sorts if we find a way to try to remove these rocks piled behind where the door stood?" She wanted out of here, she really wanted out of here, but at the same time she was battling herself not to lose her reason to pure franticness. Hopefully she still had some left in her at this farther a stage into this experience. And now she was presently shining her crystal light around in a continued check with more thoroughness if the rocks behind the door were not as thickly piled as they looked at a glance, pushing and pulling to see if any would come loose or if there was even a hole or a gap or multiple somewhere in the pile of them to look through.
Falias had hoped that activating his aspect would have some sort of effect on the scorpion youma and one that was preferably negative, however if there had been an effect then it certainly hadn't been visible.
Instead the snow magic that someone (Varuna) had cast had appeared to be much more effective as it caused the thing to slip...
Although Falias hadn't been given any real chance to take advantage of it given that there was suddenly a barbed tail that appeared to be quite literally oozing - with stuff that stuff that he didn't want to quite think on - swinging in his direction.
"Watch out!" He yelled in warning to a Page (Nirvana) that was close enough to also be in range of the incoming stinger.
He was moving as he spoke, as he tried to shift himself to the side and away from the entrance and - by extension - the incoming tail.
His aspect was still up - at least for the moment - as the attack by stinger hadn't exactly given him a chance to try and deactivate it. It was hard to tell how much longer it would last for however given it wasn't as if Falias had ever tried to time it before.

Sailor Ananke
Ananke saw the shards flying towards the small little cat and she knew she had to act fast... She hadn't really tested out her abilities proper but she hoped they worked now. "Ananke portal!" She cried out and with a hand gesture opened a portal a little distance in front of Arthur in hopes that it would transport the shards.
With another hand gesture she opened another portal above the creature. To be on the safe side she ran over near Arthur to shield him if she had to.

Sailor Scout Attack: Ananke Portal Ananke can create a small portal to absorb enemy attacks. It is possible to open another portal an send the attack back but it must be done in a sort amount of time or she will lose the energy signal. She can create a portal anywhere in her line of sight. Duration- 15 seconds Uses- 3 times Effect- The enemy attack can either be imminently reflected or absorbed and a second opens up for a behind attack.
Haaa I'm not sure this qualifies as an attack... =w=' feel free to write it as a failure if it doesn't =w=' I just was trying to find a way to get involved.
The page was confused for a second after she blew her shell flute; was it helping? It was the first time she was using such a tactic in battle so she did it again with hopes of tripping up the scorpion youma. She dashed to a wall to escape its charging toward the entrance and, by that time, Themiscyra's buff had boosted her strength. Suddenly imbued with a fiery sense, Slievenamon looked at her flute and decided to use it as a weapon instead. Turning its pointed side outward, the page ran and threw it at the monstrosity to see if it'd do any damage.

As Centisima had moved in for the attack and distraction routine, so had many of the others. He was dodging limbs and maybe slightly regretting his overconfident charge forward. This thing was huge and looked nasty and he was pretty sure getting stung by a giant youma scorpion would not end well. But he still had his attack going and he had to use it.
He was near its back legs when snow swept across the ground and he swore, slipping sideways and hitting the ground roughly with his hip. “Damn it.” His hand pulsated with purple energy and he rolled closer as the scorpion struck out at the entrance with its stinger. One his knees, he used his attack, grasping with his venom claw at one of the youma’s back legs.
Beckoning Chaos
Venom Claw Centisima calls his attack and shakes out his right hand, coating it in purple light and giving the appearance of a centipedes’ forcipules. Touching his opponent causes redness and swelling, mimicking the effects of a centipede bite. The effect of the bite lasts for 30 seconds. This attack can only be used once per battle. If the attack is not used within 1 minute, the claw will fade.

Dallol, Squire of Uranus
"Good." Ever the charmer now, isn't he? Dallol mused as she smiled and gave Corinth's hand a small squeeze. Now that Corinth was feeling much better, it was time for them both to catch up to the others then. "I think it's this way." Reaching out with her senses, she tried to tug him along to where the rest of the Order auras and whatever was calling out to them felt the strongest to her, only stopping when they eventually found the narrow stairway in the far corner of the ruined building.
"Seems like they went down this way." She mumbled, ceruleans peering down the stairway to try to gauge how far down it went before looking back at Corinth. "In the interest of our mutual safety, I'm going to let go of your hand for a bit ok?"
The last thing that goodness knows the both of them needed next was for her to miss a step on that stairway and drag Corinth down along with her.
