A pale blue flower, pulled from Hikaru's hair Short IC Response: The night air was cool against their bodies as they walked, sides pressed together. It had been the perfect autumn day, filled with laughter and love, and the evening was progressing in much the same manner. Aiko had finally let herself be pulled away from her latest project to focus her attention entirely on Hikaru for the day, and they were both very glad that she had done so. Their hooves thudded dully on the ground as they walked, the loamy forest earth giving way to their weight. But they were near the edge of the forest, and the spongy surface turned firm as they emerged from the treeline. Aiko blinked, surprised at how light it was outside of the forest canopy. She was sure they had been out for the better part of the night already but it surely wasn't sunup yet. Lost in thought, a nudge at her shoulder drew her attention. "Look!" whispered Hikaru. "The Wishing Star!" Hikaru wasn't sure how she knew that it was the infamous Wishing Star, but somehow, she did, and Aiko knew it deep down, too. Aiko smiled over at Hikaru. "Would you...make a wish with me?" she asked softly. Hikaru nodded and turned her head, tugging a flower from her braid to give as an offering. Wordlessly, they both closed their eyes and wished, hearts in sync, both asking for a child borne with a mixture of both their traits. After a few moments, their eyes opened. Hikaru set the flower gently on a nearby boulder, in sight of the Star, and they walked away together, sides pressed together once again, hearts overflowing with joy. Even if nothing came of their wish, they could not have asked for a better way to end their outing.

The tied-off portion of his mane, cut with his own cleaver just above where the wrapping begins, accompanied by a sketch of him made by Vanmoriel. Short IC Response: Those silly mares. They had captured him - no, in his own version of the narrative, he had allowed himself to be captured - but they hadn't known what they were getting into. They had seen his glorious wings and coveted him, rightfully so in his opinion, but they had missed or ignored the warning signs that he was dangerous: horns from a kalona ancestor, markings that spiderwebbed like blood across his otherwise snow-white hide, the cleaver he wielded. The latter they had had sense enough to take from him, and he hadn't protested; they were pleasing to look at, and it had been more pleasing still to accept their attentions.
But he was as fickle as he was vain, and soon enough had grown bored with it all, and set about making a nuisance of himself to force his release. His cleaver and his freedom were his again, along with a little memento in the form of a sketch, which in the weeks that followed he kept and admired, though time and exposure to the elements gradually saw it wear. Though he had had a fine time, and it was a fine likeness, he began to view both with growing resentment. His time with a few of the harpies had been significantly more than chaste, and he found himself wondering if anything had come from it. The more he thought about it, the more he became convinced that surely something had.
He had no fondness for foals, but what was his was his. He wanted one - really, he wanted them all - but while his sanity might be questionable, he was no fool. Attempting to return to the Flock was not an option, but there were others. Others like the strange star that on rare occasion appeared in the sky, that he had previously ignored and dismissed as a fanciful, sentimental notion. But he wanted something he felt had been stolen from him, and perhaps this star could give it to him.
Ananel climbed the hill not with hope, but with bitter conviction. With demand. He pulled the smudged, oft-folded sketch from the band on his foreleg where he'd tucked it and dropped it upon the altar, where it was swiftly joined by a wrapped length of his mane. "I need one of my own," he insisted without preamble. "Give me one."
As he turned to leave, he added under his breath, "Hell, give me two or three."

Lynae laid in the tall grass, looking up at the starry sky. Our of the corner of her eye she spotted the brightest star she had ever seen! She thought back to when she was young and all the stories her mother used to tell her. Anytime there was a bright star in the stories, it was a magical star! She knew what she had to do, so she looked up at the star and smiled. "Hello there magical star!" She paused for a moment thinking about what to ask the star. "I recently came to these lands, and I love it here. It is beautiful here and I love seeing my sister and her family.. it is just she is has her own life here and sometimes I am lonely. It is not that I don't enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with it, because I do. That is what I especially love about the night, how quiet and serene it is! It is just.. I wish I had a friend to enjoy it with occasionally." She paused again and looked down smiling to herself. "I am rambling a bit.. sorry star, I won't waste more of you time, I just want a friend. Thank you for your time!" She left one of her flowers as an offering and turned away from the star and went back to enjoying the night air.

Who is Wishing?: Zanzibar Tell the wishing star a little about yourself: I am a monster of the night, I was exiled from my family due to my "Curse" where bad things tend to follow me. I have been told that it's just been me being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I still don't believe them. I pray in the shadows and tend to favor seclusion. When my sister appeared she told me that she had fled from our old herd because our uncle took Alpha after my father was presumed dead. I still have no idea what may happen, but I will never return. It would be good to see an old friend from that time, one who maybe accepts my curse and my appearance? Or maybe one of my fellow "Monsters." There weren't many of us, and it would be nice for even one of them to find me!

It was a silly thing, Ro knew, but still, perhaps the stories were true. With that in mind, she gathered up a few treasures to take with her to the altar of the wishing star - part of Bryn's tattered cloak which held one of her cherished ribbons, a few of his crossbow bolts that were broken, a small braid of blond and brown mane, and a few dried flowers... bits and pieces of them, and their story. Things that represented treasured memories. Precious treasures, but perhaps by giving them up, she and Bryn might recieve something even more precious.
Short IC Response: Ro had heard of the wishing star, and knew that it granted wishes. And in her heart, she knew she wanted a family. A family with the one she loved. A second chance to do things right. She would be a good mother this time. And Bryn, though he had so much fear – fear of himself, fear that he was a monster – he would be a good father. He loved her – fiercely -and he would love any children they had even more so. Because they would be family, they would share his blood.
“Bryn is... he is the love of my life. For him, I want to change. I want to stay by his side. To be there for him, and to soothe away his hurts, to chase away his demons. To heal all the damage the world has done to him. So he can be happy and learn to smile. I want everything for him. I think a family, a child of his own to love, to be there for from the beginning... Unbeknownst to the happy-go-lucky mare, the same stallion she was making the wish for was making a similar wish.
Looking up at the night sky, Bryn noticed a star that seemed to shine brighter than the rest. He had heard whispers of a star that could grant wishes. Perhaps this was it. He thought about it. If a star actually could grant wishes, what would he want? There were many things in his life that had hurt, had gone wrong, that if there was any possible way for them to not have happened... well, there wasn't much he wouldn't have given.
But there was no way to change the past, and without his past, he wouldn't be where he was today. He wouldn't have the mare who held his shriveled heart in her delicate hooves. And he wouldn't have the miracle stallion he claimed as son. He wouldn't be as … well, not happy, because happiness wasn't a state he found, but perhaps he could call his feelings contentment. Because he was. Content. But, if Ro would agree to finally stay with him... If they could have a family, he thought it might be possible for him to learn to be happy.
'I don't really believe in wishes. Wishes are for dreamers and fools. And I am neither. But, if it is true that you can grant wishes, it is my hope to one day have a family with the one I love. And right now, the one thing I want as much as her, is a foal. My own child to love and to raise. '
He snorted, and turned his head away from the sky, sinking further into the shadows where he was most comfortable. 'I'm being foolish. There's no way a star can grant wishes. And even if it could, there are so many out there who, I'm sure, are making wishes for themselves. Why would a star listen to a monster like me. '

Tell the wishing star a little about yourself: Clearing her throat, the white mare shook herself from nose to tail and then stepped into clear view, fixing her red eyes on the star. "I... I have heard much of you, though I tend to listen where I should not and go where I should not... So I guess that is surprising. But I have heard things of you, that you grant wishes. I don't know what your criteria is for that, but I thought it'd be worth a try..."
She pauses, then gives a little sigh and begins. "Well, I guess if you know anything of me at all that'd be something. But if you don't, I. I can't see colors very well, not most colors anyway. Lot of red and orange in my world, though I've been told the sky is blue when you're not around. Anyway, I'd really love a friend. A lovely, loyal friend that would be welcome in the Flock and would be able to travel with me when I go. Wings preferred, though I'm sure you're not surprised..."
She splayed her three sets of wings and gave a self-conscious little laugh. "So someone that could see colors to help me sort beads and stones when I'm making ornaments to gift or trade. That would be really nice. And perhaps with many eyes, keen and sharp and far-seeing... Even if they're a little scary, or unwanted wherever they are. If you could find them and send them my way? Who is Wishing?: Amarth Tell the wishing star a little about yourself: I have been traveling for a while. I am a devious boy and don't mind playing tricks on those I encounter during my journey. I have seen some interesting things, but nothing ever sticks. I see others with their companions and it stings a bit that I don't have a companion or minion of my own. How much more I could accomplish would be astronomical! I wish there was someone who would join me in my adventures. I am a catterhisser and I never see others like myself. It would be so nice to finally have some companionship. Her lips quirk a little bitterly as she folds her wings tightly against her body, unsure if she feels at ease at night or more vulnerable than before. Wishes seemed like such a foolish fancy, a foal's dream.Well. Perhaps she was feelish foolish this night.
"I am... an oddity," She finally, her voice a quiet, somber thing in the darkness. "Not a Kalona. Not a... regular being, whatever that means. My own mother drove me out, terrified by my teeth and my--appetites." No small amount of bitterness entered her voice now, and Nyx's eyes briefly dropped from the star to reflect.
Fish sustained her well enough, but she'd seen the fear and suspicion in the eyes of others once they'd laid eyes upon her spaded tail. "They do not trust me. But I've tried to seek out those darker Soquili, to see if I can form some sort of kinship with them." Her voice was hoarse with emotion. "It does not work. I'm stuck in between two worlds."
With her ears pinned back, she sighed roughly. "Send me someone who understands. Someone I can talk to. Please."
