Zero Omega Arowan Features Runway Another week, another runway question! It seems like suspicious things are happening in the runway again, even with the new rule changes. Can we get another update on what staff are doing / considering doing to mitigate the seemingly never-ending abuse? We're in the middle of doing reviews for any possible abuse and may have some ideas if we find anything out of the ordinary.

It still seems like its been an issue these last few weeks, even with the new rule update. It's still something we're working on as we go over results and figure out ways to mitigate what's going on. When we have a better idea of what to do next and move forward with it, we'll update Gaians.
Narumi Misuhara Canicuss RunwayThere seems to be a lot of confusion with the Runway museum changing order several hours after the voting is over and some people have said they didn't receive their winnings while they placed in the top 10 or avatars that are missing completely and then show up the next day. I wondered if it would be possible to enlighten us a little on the process that's in use. We don't need to know your super secret stuff, but it would be helpful if everyone was aware of why there seems to a shuffling of avatars. Several have speculated that it's due to a tie and the avatars entered earlier move to the top of that pile. That sounds like a reasonable explanation but it would be really nice if we could know if that was actually the case. In the event multiple entries had the same number of votes it would be pulled at the databases discretion, in which case it is possible for the order to change at a later period. However, depending on what is occuring we would likely want to investigate further to ensure this is not some other bug or issue. If it isn't, this could further be addressed by ordering the database return by entry time, which probably should have been done in the first place sweatdrop

Can a link to this important information be placed prominently on the Runway home page? We can definitely see about doing this!

It says it is taking entries but if you check later, it wants me to re-enter as if I didn't enter the first time. It will continue to let you make entries in each runway as many times as you want as long as the fee is paid, and won't confirm that you've entered ^^; Bah! The stupid 1st of the month bug! Is there a way that a rules page could be added to the Landing Page of Runway?
It seems like many STILL do not know about the rules for voting on mules & only using the CB to ask for votes. Yes, this is definitely something we want to do and we believe it's something we should be able to do.
Zero Omega Tsuki_Kirkland Features Does reporting in the avatar arena do anything? I keep reporting people who are misplaced but I don't feel it does anything. It does do something, however keep in mind that the Avatar Arena is going to be a lower priority queue so we may not act on reports as quickly.
Narumi Misuhara clarion Features - RunwayWould there be any way to view Runway prize cash grants in our cash history? If you don't have PMs turned on or if they're set to friends only you don't even get the Admin PMs and if you aren't paying attention to your GC amount it can be pretty easy to miss the really small awards. There are periodically glitches around awarding prizes, notably the recently issues with the time change, so being able to double check and see IF you were awarded anything and how much would help people know if they need to file tickets or not. Yup, we can do this. smile

Jak Bauer Canicuss RunwayI know somebody else asked this a couple of pages back, but I know a lot of people are concerned about the same issue. I'm sure tickets have been filed concerning this but it appears as if someone may have somehow found an exploit to enter the Runway multiple times in the same day with the same account. I certainly don't want to accuse someone of cheating but this is not a glitch that a lot of people are experiencing, it seems to be very user specific. Could someone please check to see how this is happening. I only ask because the ticket system is so backed up that if this is really an issue it could literally go on for months before it's fixed. Thank you! Which day for which contest do you see this in?

Is it possible to fix that? ...More like "Oh god no, not that cursed feature." Everyone who has worked on Avatar Arenas was no longer working for the company within a three month period. True story. Soooooo, we'll think about it.....

I know there's a bunch of people that use the feature that don't venture into that forum so they might not see it. That's a great suggestion! I've added that to my wishlist.
lanzer Canicuss RunwayIs there a reason you gave us Halloween themes in Runway but don't give us Christmas themes? We've asked repeatedly this year and last year and I'd like to know if there's a reason or if you are just too busy to change the themes? I'm not trying to be a pain by asking this, rather I'd genuinely like to know why, because if there's a legitimate reason I'll stop bugging you about it. Even if you don't give us holiday themes I hope you all have a great Christmas! I think the main reason is simply because of a lack of resources. The art team just finished work for the Christmas event, though next time around we might be able to add more themes. It all depends on how things go in 2017 and if we're able to hire more resources or not. Let's hope for the best! whee

Sorry, no new themes for the holiday season. Though I know how you all love the runway feature and we're committed to adding more themes.

At the very least, it'd be reassuring to know that something is being considered or discussed, even if you can't specify what that something is... Yes it's my concern as well. We'll be implementing some countermeasures in the future, and on top of that, ask for moderator help. But first we will need to hire more mods as we are currently short on mod resources also. sweatdrop
Narumi Misuhara Frightened Mermaid Anon Features: Runway So, currently, Runway is plagued by certain glitches every first of the month. Pages of the museum are often missing, and your vote count isn't displayed. There's also a glitch that allows you to enter multiple times. These glitches, naturally, cause a lot of confusion every time a new month rolls around. People get worried they aren't getting any votes, or that their entries haven't been entered and then get even more worried when their gold/GC count keeps going down with every entry. I'm not sure how easy/hard these glitches might be to fix, but in the meantime, could we possibly get a sticky put in the forum with a list of known glitches? I think it would help a lot to have a place for people to look for for forum regulars to point people to whenever questions come up when the first of the month rolls around. It's not hard, I just keep forgetting to do this. I told Zello to remind me but clearly he failed. FAILED!!!

It happens with all captchas across the site, but I notice that it is most prevalent when voting in Runway. When voting on a mobile device, (and sometimes when posting as well), when a captcha comes up, a good portion of the time it will redirect you to another site that tries to trick you into installing viruses on your phone. Because it's on a mobile device, and because the bad captcha redirects you a million times, they can be tricky to report. Is there any way to fix this? Or are we doomed to be forever stuck avoiding certain features of the site while on mobile so as not to trigger these bad ads/captchas? We'd have to investigate and see why this is occurring on mobile. We could potentially temporarily disable captcha on mobile for Runway for now.

We have a lot of suggestions in the Themes Thread. Thanks for your consideration. emotion_bigheart I think what we need is a way for you guys to submit themes and then have the community vote on them and the top voted ones get added to the next weeks themes. Lanzer clarion Features - RunwayI was wondering if we might be able to get at least some sense of where on the to-do list working on Runway's issues fell. There are a lot of problems right now and I think people are frustrated that there hasn't been much coming out about whether or not these things are being acknowledged and looked at. Just in a nutshell, we have -first of the month bugs -doubling of entries outside the first -rampant cheating -no report system I think people would feel a lot better about continuing to participate in the Runway if we knew that these issues were going to be fixed at some point, even if we have to wait until other stuff is worked on first. And also that some of the suggestions (like temporarily reducing/replacing the GC prize among other things that have been posted in the runway threads in SF) are being looked at and whether or not those things might be adopted or if we're barking up the wrong tree there. heart I'll go bug Narumi about it. He pushed a set of fix for the first of the month bug, but sounds like the bug is still there. sad
Zero Omega Nanzzy-chan So, another week, still no proper answer on all the rampant glitches and cheating that plague Runway, I guess... Meanwhile, these people are still exploiting the system and going against the ToS, and racking up enough cash to buy Project tickets while at it; but I guess that's not a priority or anything emotion_facepalm I missed this question earlier, but we're aware of the abuse going on in Runway. It's clear that changes we made did not help improve the situation all that much so we need to take more drastic steps to try and address it, unfortunately that also means it's something that is going to take a lot more time to look into which means we have to prioritize it against everything else we need to do and address on the site. I'm an advocate of doing what we can to address the issues plaguing Runway, and I think others in office are too, so it's not something we plan on forgetting about. I am sorry to hear about the problems, and from a moderation stand point, we will do what we can to address individuals cheating the system.
