Serieve >< You're scaring me. I wasn't able to find the issue, or any kind of news or updates from the Gaian Press! Please don't tell me we let the deadline just... go like that! scream First chance I get tomorrow, or sometime after that, I am coming here and I am whipping this place back into shape! evil Don't blame me. I just work here.

I see you're as consistent as always, Jaho. That's better than nothing I suppose. 3nodding
So let's make some lists, seeing as they are very handy tools of organization. Except that it's kind of hard to make lists when you have absolutely no idea what is going on or what's been done and all those very major details.
1. See if issue has been published. 2. Check the (Almost) Ready to Use Pieces topic (All good to go, Kraeela!) 3. Add more to the May issue if the circumstances allow 4. Make preparations for the June issue ASAP 5. Hunt down more judges for the 2nd round of the contest 6. Prepare for the 3rd round; make a prize hike 7. Do some critiquing in the mounds 7. Get news out to the public ASAP 8. See about getting more employees who show great dedication. Two hands and then some just aren't enough, it seems. 9. Find more income for our mule 10. Kick current staffies back into gear 11. Make new June schedule 12. Update indexes
Okay. That's all I have time for tonight though. I really do need #1 done first though. This will be a progressive effort, I fear. gonk

Hallo, It's finals week so this is probably the last time I'll be online for the next week. 1. This is the May Issue (which I pulled together the night before): http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8092851&bt=1117928913&start=02. I haven't posted the Submissions thread yet...could you please take care of that for me? 3. And yes, the Contest was pushed back. off I go to research my 15 page thesis paper on the Abolitionists. Le sigh. And it's good to have you back Serieve. Methinks we need to have a serious talk with the staff. I did not appreciate having to edit the pieces and practically scrounge the May issue together. stare No worries, I totally understand why oyu weren't available...and I'm warning you ahead of time, I prolly wont be available as much come July -- we'll be moving too. whee sweatdrop See you guys in a week!

All right, now that the moving junk is over for the time being and the internet is up, what should I do to help? Also, how much gold do you need for the mule or anything else?

Well then you'll need to post somewhere what I need to change it too. As for editing, I can't even edit myself that well... It's best that somebody who actually hasa knowledge of grammar and the rules do that.
But I can offer moral support. sweatdrop
In other news, I got another article on gwonline.net, plus a shoutout.

Well, once you look at the Index it should be self-explanatory. Just add in the stuff from the most recent issue, using the same format that was used for the previous issues. Is it possible for you to make someone crew?

Thanks for cleaning up the ARU.
Hey, no problemo! Anything for someone who compliments so nicely! xd
Except for the 'SIlya Elektrika'. Methinks we [alicemae, Jaho and I] had planned to use that for Jaho's Political Writing thinggie.
Another lil' proposal: I am a naturally lazy person. I need motivation to get me to do anything. For an end-project in Creative Writing Class we wrote the first 2 chapters to a novel. I like it and want to continue writing -- problem? I'm lazy and was able to complete that much only because of Grade motivation. I was thinking, if you could look it over and it were good enough, we could serialize it in th Press.
Pros: - More stuff to put in the Press. - People may like it and induce them to subscribe to the Press. [Heh...if it's good enough. I'm not very confident about my writing, as you can tell. sweatdrop ] - It'll motivate [force] me to write at least a chapter a month. It's good both ways.
Cons: - Makes the Press too? long. - People may not wnt to bother with long, chapter-length pieces. May actually put them off from reading, - My story sucks. gonk - I may run out of ideas and make it sucky. - Can't rewrite chapters.
Yikes, the Cons outdo the Pros. Oh well....tell me if you're interested in looking at the piece.
And Thanks!

Righty, I'll work on going thru the Mounds tomorrow.
Uhm, I propose we institute a "By submitting your work to us, you give us express permission to edit your work, including but not limited to grammatical, word choices, sentence structures or otherwise. Author will be contacted if major edits need to be made such as story concept, body structure or otherwise." policy. The whole critique then contact author then figure out if it's ok thing is way too much of a hassle -- plus that's not how it works irl anyways.

Okay. I'd say the contest is out of the way. Now for the draft that we have to put together. ^^ Of course, that discussion should be held in the "Staffie Rough Drafts and Discussion of" thread.
And to keep everyone updated, as soon as the draft is completed (tomorrow, I bet), voting will begin. We need some news for the neighborhood watch. So far I've dug up three little tidbits, but they aren't much and I haven't put them in the draft yet.
We have 5 finalists for our contest now, so that's out of the way, and I've placed them in the draft as well as an explanation for our reader's. Hopefully they'll come vote for those in round three. 3nodding
Uhmm... Jaho, check your column thread and your Political Writing Project thread if you haven't already. I had questions for you in both places.
Another column to accompany Jaho's would be nice, if any of you columnists are listening to me. stare
Dev, if you're there, I also had a banner request posted in the Press Gallery. We'll need a banner for Jaho's project.
I want to make this a nice, good-length issue. 5-6 poems, 2-3 prose, 1-2 columns, the Political Writing Project, and maybe a critic's corner. 3nodding
Regarding your questions, Kraeela, I think... that looking at your story won't hurt, though I personally don't much like the idea of having two ongoing stories in publication. It may throw people off, and if they don't like to read the stories, it's a lot to scroll past. You know how lazy people are. wink
But we could look at it. ^^ And after the Badger Brigade ends, we'll probably need a new ongoing story that's really good. And not necessarily a fanfiction either. We may have to exmay on that idea after the Badger Brigade finishes. There are just too many people who don't like or read the stuff. We could, however, have fanfiction recommendations. That's an idea for later though.
And as for "automatically agree to allow minor editing," that just sounds discouraging to me, and it may sound the same to a lot of the writers here. People just don't like letting other people mess with their work. They may only feel comfortable if it's a professional doing the editing, and we are far from professonal.
Maybe if it's purely spelling and major grammar errors. Things that don't change a single word in the entire piece, but still improve it. That sounds okay to me. Anything more may make the writer uncomfortable, no matter how basic it is.
What do you think?
