He reattached his hand, and shrugged lightly.
"I'm also not neck deep in trying to keep rennell in line, or make sure roselyn gets her appointments nad checkups done, or having to manage my own systems, or handle other members of Metamorphosis either. I'm seen as the unoffical leader of the group, probably because of my seriousness and my age."
Then another look down.
"I don't show my more as you put it 'civilian side' unless I really don't have a reason not to. right now you could say I'm of duty, and able to relax more. not to mention the flirting does help in that."
A look around at the floating files and such.
"I've told you that you could always get yourself some color coded files or transfer all that stuff to cd or hell get yourself like a mini MISSED system for this stuff. I'd even help you keep it updated."

"I bet the Metamorphosis Project Leader sits around on his a** all day, and just revels in the fact that you're willing to do the work. Hell I would say that you deserve quite the promotion there James." But she smiled at him and cocked her head to the side. "So flirting brings out the civilian in you, ah yes now I know your weakness."
Crazy Jelena. Then she shrugged at his suggestion. "Doesn't mean they won't float around, at least I keep my Echo files sealed and the like, and going to just disks presents too many problems sometimes." Then one of those looks of hers. "I don't know if I could minimize my MISSED system...it was quite the challenge in the first place..."
Then she cringed as power jumped back to life, flicking lights as well as turning the gravity back on, sending everything in the air to the floor with some rather harsh force.

The wonders of bioware. anything withing the range of his arm was caught in a semi neat pile before hitting the ground, which was pictures, several papers one pair of socks, four disks and a shoe.
"machine speed reflexes. wonderful to have sometimes."
A grin at her comment about weakness.
"Well. if you wanted to get technical, your the only one I flirt with right now, so your my weakness."
He set the pile down by her desk, and gave her a grin.
"So. can we consider this MAPS appointment a date then?"

A blink at him followed by a smile. "Attractive, nice a**, and useful. How lucky am I huh?" Then she laughed, swiveling in her chair a moment. Ah fully rotating chairs, they were just plain fun sometimes. "Sh, don't say that out loud James, the spies may be near." A feigned look of paranoia from her.
But then she sobered up some and stopped her chair movements. "Sure, we can call it a date. Consider it like going to the movies, only to movie will come from our heads while one of us is sedated and the other watches and pokes fun later. Sounds like a good plan to me."

"Alright then, a date. I guess that email to joey telling him to update the sight to say you've laid claim wasn't false after all, was it?"
Thought he looked at the picture with the Fenrir, and glanced at her.
"you looked good with longer hair. more carefree you could say."
Then a smirk, and he moved over to her again, and leaned over for the thrid kiss of the day, this one certainly held promise of other things being very nice to compliment it, and resting his hand on her thigh more to brace himself a bit that anything.
"So what are you going to say to Erik when he wonders where we've been? as I'm sure he's found someone that said we went into your room."

A sigh and a smile. "I guess not." A look at the picture herself. "You think? Problem is the Echoes liked to chew on it and it was getting in the way. That was before the work got constant." But she shrugged, she didn't mind the work now, it was her passion after all.
Once one got past the surface, James was quite the hands on, go for it kind of man. He had just gotten the third kiss from her with quite the finesse touch to it all as well. Interesting, it was always the quiet ones that were the ones you had to watch.
"Oh Erik doesn't have to know everything about my life. He may think he has the right as something like a brother to me, but that's just his imagination. He quite thinks himself quite the authoritative figure when it comes to me and my well being."

"Same way I treat Roselyn and Rennell. Of course if I didn't get involved in thier well being Roselyn would probably be either immobilized or worse, and Rennell woudl be so outdated on the needs of his bioware that when I did talk him into seeing them they'd have to spend days overhauling his system. and for Rennell that's dangerous."
He sat back, and smiled at her.
"You know, if I do something to forward, feel free to slap me. trust me I'll feel it, I'm not that much biomechanical yet."

"You and Erik differ. You're more of the concerned adult or father figure type, especially to those two. Erik is more...of the little annoying brother who wants to read my diary then go punch the guy I write about type of guy." Then a little nod. " I'd imagine it would be that bad, what with Rosey's beginning circumstances, and then Rennell's second circulatory system. I recall an incident a year back where he almost died."
But a nice change in subject would do well to get away from those dim thoughts. "And I don't have to worry about breaking my hand or fingers when I do slap you?" More rhetorical than anything, but that was Jelena for you. Aloof, may be the word for it.

A chuckle
"You know, I can see Erik doing just that. or trying to. and no, you wouldn't break your hand or your fingers and I certainly wouldn't do that to you either, Jelena."
And since he didn't want to be crowding her space, he moved back to teh bed, islying getting papers and disks out of the way and ataking a seat again with an inviting smile.

Her mind had wandered for the moment, thinking on her poor office and the ensuing fight between her and Erik as they went about somewhat picking up mess. That's how it was, worse mess than a Jelena created one just getting everyone's tension up. But she sighed and shook her head, looking at the picture she held once more before sitting it on top of her computer. "Note to self...get more velcro."
"Well good to know that I can make rash female decisions of punishment should I feel the need to, without having to worry about seeing a medic afterward. And I take it you find my bed comfortable." Observation. Getting up she adjusted her OODDS again and brushed a few strands of hair from her face. "So, shall we renter the world of people? As much as I hate to say it, I have to fight with Erik about my office again."

"It's bouncy, soft, and can support my weight. what's not to like?"
Then a shake of his head and a small grin.
"Alright, return to the world of other people and I'll escort you to your office. least I can do is try and give Erik a look of imminent death if he bugs you and see if that works."
So he got up, and offered his arm to her, the bioware one, for her to get an escort/arm trophy for he trip to her office from her bedroom.

"Erik's not afraid of you James." Which was the truth, because Erik could turn any situation into a humorous one it seemed and thus eliminate fear. Standing from her chair she walked over and took his arm, letting him play the good gentleman/death threat as they left her room.
It was a short walk really, her room being one of those in the residential area of the ship that was closest to the actual project rooms and sites. PAID tags got them into the Project zone and a short walk down the hall landed them in her office where she noted it was already open, and grumbling was clearly heard.
She peeked inside, only to see what she usually did. Her office, more so of a mess and Erik wading through it to try and get things together. At least the stuff she velcroed down last time was still in place.

Lillia opened her eyes and breathed deeply. She flipped onto her side and snuggled deep down into the covers but soon realized that she wasn't in her own room. Sitting up with a start she looked down and saw a blue head on the floor next to her. Her head dropped, she had been out the entire night. Her mother was going to kill her.
She carefully and quietly moved out of the bed and made it quickly, smoothing her fingers over the soft sheets. Plumping the pillow and stepping over DJ's comatose body, she picked up her shoes and purse and quietly slipped out of his apartment. When the door had shut behind her with a quiet swish, she stood against the chrome wall of the hallway and breathed deeply.
It didn't take her long to get back home and when she opened the door her mother was waiting for her.
Jacklyn Nikkco was standing in a pressed pantsuit in the living room, looking out the window. Her blond hair, so much like her daughter's was curled at her shoulders and a serene look on her face. She did not look like a mother worrying frantically about her daughter.
Lillia tried to slip upstairs and for a minute she didn't think her mother had seen her. Boy was she wrong.
"Where have you been?" It wasn't a scream, or even a raised voice. The tones were soft as though she really didn't care.
"I went out."
Her mother turned and looked at her, then her lips pursed and she stiffened. "Lillia Ann Nikkco." Her voice turned brittle. "I've been waiting for you to come home. You could have left me a message, instead of sneaking out wearing inappropriate clothing. I like to go to bed at night and that is not possible if I do not know where you are. In the future try not to be so inconsiderate. Now please, go change and then join me for breakfast. I'll reheat it since it's been cold for a few hours."
Lillia inclined her head at the lecture and stood stiffly. This was the way it always went. No yelling. No frantic hugging and crying. Nothing to show that she had even been missed beyond the slight inconvenience. She was vaguely surprised her mother had mentioned the dress. She stiffly turned and made her way upstairs. No messy confrontations ever occurred in the Nikkco house. That would be undignified. She slipped off the red dress and hung it up, placed the shoes neatly in her closet and stepped into the shower in her connecting bathroom. When she was finished, she dried her wet hair and styled it, dressed in a conservative pants and top and then went downstairs to join her mother for a very formal breakfast. Nothing else would be said about her night out and both mother and daughter would act like it had never happened.

"Nice to see your hard at work, Erik. Enjoy your potential break while your boss and I had a stroll?"
A small chuckle as he listened to Erik grumbling.
"You know if you'd been able to handle keeping her organized like I mentioned how many years ago, this probably woudln't be so bad an issue now."
Another grin and he lead Jelena into her office, being very formal about it, and patted her hand lightly with a grin.
"Good help is hard to find sometimes, isn't it."

Erik stood up from his crouched position in the floor and looked to James with somewhat of a displeased look about him. He straightened his Echo lab vest and straighted himself out a bit. "There's no breaks, especially when Trevy is away." Then he crossed his arms, leaning his weight on one leg. "Believe me, that is no easy task. This woman doesn't know the first thing about organization and when she discovers it, she tears it apart anyway. When it's not her its' Catalyst."
She shook her head as James had pretty much pulled her into her office with an air of finesse and went about patronizing Erik some. "I only tear it apart because I can't find a single thing when things do get put away. Yes, despite the mess I know where everything is...exept when the absence of gravity mixes things all up and well here we are back at step one in the process." Then a look at James. "Good, no. More drive to clean than me, yes. Erik you are just as unorganized as me."
