Kayla looked at the object in his hand which was not all that large and tried to follow his instructions. She never fully understood how she sensed things. It always just happened like the feelings came to her. She looked to the right of Logain but was not sure what the shine he was talking about from the corner f her eye. Instead her eyes moved toward him as he chuckled. The man was doing his best to help her and she found herself looking at him for a moment before looking away again.
"I...I can see well enough from my peripheral vision but I see no shine save for the embers and flames reflecting off whatever would share its glow sir." Kayla said a little hurt she did't have this witch-sight he talked about. "Is there a way to learn how to see the shine you talk about or do you have to be born with the ability to do so?"

Elizabeth’s eyes squinted forward. She too could make out the distinct shape of a hut built out in the forest. She frowned as they cautiously approached. “I am not sure. Who’s lands are we in currently?” She inquired of the boy. “Perhaps that might give us some knowledge of who might be in there. The building looks as if it is falling apart, but I would not trust that alone. There may be someone around here, so be on your guard.” She warned. “Should we go up to the hut to investigate?” She inquired softly. “Or should we have more of our squadron out here? To help us?”
Shera’s eyes gleamed at the thought. It sounded like a very fun game. She loved to run; surely she would catch her crow caller before they got to their seat of safety. “Who goes first?” Shera barked excitedly at Veral. The hair was standing on end over her shoulders, and her eyes were wide and ready.
Miluiel settled down into her seat and smiled at the pups and at Veral. He had such a way with the kids. Miluiel watched him thoughtfully, thinking how he would make a wonderful father when the time was right, and he was wed. It would be a wonderful day!

Logain smiled at Kayla reassuringly. "Do not worry about that. There are many, even those with great skill and training in magic that have no witch-sight of their own. It is not a sign of weakness, its something you have, or you do not." He explained. "I was merely curious if you had it or not, if you did, it would have made it easier. Seeing as you do not have witch-sight, we will teach you a method just about anyone can pick up and is easy to adapt. What you must do is shut your eyes, while concentrating on it. As you do that expand your consciousness, or draw on your powers, whichever those might be, but don't use it. Just concentrate and draw on the power. As you do this, the object will appear in your mind with a flame or light coming from it, or any color, or you may just feel a strong vibration when you visualize the object. Either sensation means the object has been altered or affected by magic." Logain held the object ahead of him, encouraging her to give it a try.
"According to the Lord-Captain Kahel, these lands are not claimed by any nation. The only settlement around here was the village that we camped near the other day. And that was a day's march from this forest, and all they would say was that there were monsters here." Canor said, he had retained what little knowledge he had gained well. "And whoever heard of monsters building things?" He said with a chuckle, a decidedly nervous chuckle. The mere thought of such a concept caused him to grip the spear tightly. "I think it would be best if we went back and reported. We shouldn't dwell too long without our unit." Canor spoke casually, but after the words came out, he though the words might be to familiar or too authoritative to use for someone of her associated status. "B-but you don't have to listen to me, th-that's just what I think." He pulled his torn, and already far too thin cloak around, trying to make some show that a breeze might have chilled him, though none had blown.
Azrael sniffed, then caught a faint, all-too irregular scent. He growled at the scent. His years fighting in the war of the Graces flashed through his mind, it reminded him of human, it even matched that of the cloth found earlier, and it was nearby. He raised his head and howled, it was a command, one he rarely used. "Come!" Was the basic interpretation of the command. This was an important finding, and he wanted all those patrolling to know.
Veral thought and tapped his chin, thinking. He then smiled and pulled a small object from his robe. "Here. I'll spin this, and whoever the smaller end is pointing at will go first. How does that sound?" He asked the children.

((OH goodness! Sorry about that Grim~ I did not see that! sweatdrop ))
Elizabeth nodded in agreement. She eyed Canor with curiosity. His suggestion was probably the best anyhow. They really should not check into something like that by themselves. “Yes, we should he-” She began as she turned around. Out of the side of her eye she spotted something as it moved. Quite suddenly something jumped from the undergrowth of the nearby forest. It was flying straight for her. Elizabeth did not even have enough time to lift her weapon before the thing would attack. The most she could do was scream, a loud, piercing scream that would alert at least Canor of the attack. Nearly simultaneously she heard a sharp howl coming from the woods. As if there was not enough going on at the moment.
Shera jumped to her feet. “It is perfect! Perfect!” She barked along with the other pups, who were also asking him to spin it so they could begin the game.

Kayla was obviously confused by Logain's words but she closed her eyes anyway."Okay then...Since I am not always sure how my powers work so I guess I use that weird feeling I have been having and try to focus on it I don't understand how you can draw on a power without using it though." Kayla said as she tried to visualize the object Logain possessed. Somewhere within her something did come to her though and she wasn't sure if it was her imagination but something seemed to pulse with some sort of energy in his direction. When she opened her eyes it was still there in his hand coursing with some sort of energy she could not understand.
"Okay never mind...I can suddenly see it glowing. Not just that but I can see that energy all around you sir. I am not sure how I did it and I am not sure how to turn it off." Layla said a little surprised by the energy coming from Logain.

Logain smiled reassuringly. "Some people have the ability to see, and in some cases manipulate, the aura of other people and objects," Logain explained, "I have that gift. I do not use it frivolously, only in times of greatest need. I am also of Draconic blood, so that might have something to do with it as well." Logain wanted to rest a hand on her shoulder reassuringly, but remembered that he could not do so until he performed the ritual on her. "As your magic detection seems to have been activated, I cannot tell for sure whether you have aura-sight or just very powerful magic detection. If it is just very powerful, then try closing your eyes again. This time however, clear your mind of the images you have seen. Allow yourself to go into blank thoughts. If I am being too vague, to tell me, I shall try my best to elaborate.
Veral grinned and spun the object. "Round, and round and round it goes. Where will it stop? Nobody knows!" He sang as the object spun. It slowed in it's spin, until it stopped, pointing at Izual. "Well, it seems Izual is going to be 'it' first. Let the game begin!"
Izual went around the circle tapping head and saying "Raven," until he came up to Shinn and shouted "Crow!" And made a mad dash around the circle.
As soon as the first "C" came out of Izual's mouth, Shinn was on his feet in pursuit, they got caught up in the chase and continued to run around the circle, building excitement over who would get the spot.
Canor turned in surprise at Elizabeth's cry and charged, spear leveled, at whatever was attacking her. He ran as fast as he could muster, hopefully he would at least get between them or push over the thing enough so Elizabeth, who was the far better trained warrior, could react.

"Yes sir." Kayla said while closing her eyes once more and tried to clear her thoughts. It was not easy for her to do so since even though she tried not to think about anything random thoughts came up into her consciousness. She naturally pushed the rising conscious down within her. It was a part of her curse to share the burden and at times the thoughts of those she had consumed in the past. If she could somehow control whatever let her sense magical energies then it was the first step in containing the curse she would learn how how to master it.
"I-I think I will be okay...My mind is a turbulent mess at times but I have been practicing these last four years to keep myself sane." she said doing her best while biting her lower lip. She opened her eyes and was thankful that whatever let her see the flow of magic had faded as she wished. "It isn't easy to turn it on and off but at least we know I am capable of seeing such things.

The two shades lept from the ground, attempting to slow Canor down while Alunn tackled Elizabeth, his fangs sinking swiftly into her neck, the paralytic toxin mixing in with her blood before he lept away from her.

"No!" Canor cried as rushed forward. Strange shadowy figures leaped from the ground ahead of him, but he was too determined, as well as unable to alter his momentum properly to be stopped. To compensate he rolled between them, barely breaking through, as he rolled onto his feet, he continued his charge, but a strong gripped grasped his cloak, likely the two shadows that rose from the earth. Canor's tattered and thin cloak, was not so strong and it tore off, resulting in Canor being propelled forward, suddenly not being held back. He managed to remain running, though he was moving all too fast for his own good, and he continued his charge toward Alunn, spear aimed for the attacker's chest.
Logain smiled sadly. "We all have our difficulties, though goodness knows that most don't have those quite on the same level as yours. It may be difficult, but perhaps that difficulty will eventually result in the greatest control. The key is to pace what you learn, with what you think you can do within reason. After establishing that limit, then gradually, not suddenly or forcefully, try to raise that limit." He told her, wishing that he could do more than he could for her.

Elizabeth was surprised how quickly the attack ensued. She felt the creature’s fangs, like two poisonous daggers, sink into her neck. She tried to scream, or react, or push him away, but as quickly as he had attacked, she felt herself growing weak. She could not feel her arms, or her legs, and neither would respond to her brain’s command. She was filled with an intense pain that seared her veins with a horrendous burning sensation. She could not scream though, she could not move.
Miluiel laughed at Veral. He was acting like such a jester for the pups!
Shera sat beside Shinn, she was nearly shaking with excitement. Who would Izual pick? Shera closed her eyes tightly and waited for Izual’s pat to tap her head. She stopped just short of Shera, however, and tapped Shinn. Shera knew it as soon as she heard the she wolf mutter a soft “c” followed by an “row.” Shera’s eyes flew open and she looked around for her brother. “Shinn!” She shouted. “Hurry! Run, run, run!” She began to giggle and laugh as Shinn chased Izual around the circle.

"Sometimes I wish I could just be a normal person. Do you ever wish you were normal sir?" Kayla asked curiously looking up into his eyes from where she stood. "Of course you don't have to respond if you don't want to...I was just curious is all."
Kayla's excitement built being closer to the man she considered a mentor since recently.Until she was told she could feel the touch of another human she tried to avoid all contact but this man brought her a sense of security.

Alunn leaped out of the way of the charge, his shades grabbing at Canor's leg in an attempt to trip him. Alunn began to sing a haunting song, attempting to siphon some of the man's anger off and replace it with fear, maintaining a mid range distance from the man.

Canor, who could not really maintain his momentum, tripped from one of the groping arms of the shades. He stumbled forward, the spear skittering forward, eventually sliding into the ground and stopping when blocked by a tree root. He launched himself back onto his feet, a bit awkwardly, but successfully, and withdrew a hand-ax from a case on his back. Strange music began to fill his ears as his attacker began to sing. Fear filled his mind, but he still gripped his ax. In his sheer terror, he began to see strange things all around him, and he found himself running to his paralyzed comrade's side and swinging wildly at the hallucinations around him, shouting in horror as he did.
"Normal... I suppose I do at times. There are too many years on my bones some days." Logain told her with a sad smile, "but I cannot simply stop for that. There are duties that I have undertaken, and I must carry the burdens, however tedious, however harsh. But let's move on, shall we? Let's move on to th-" Logain was cut off by two strong sensations, one being desire or need, and he thought that was Alunn hunting, but the other, this one appearing suddenly, was sheer terror, and it was not far off. "Something is going on nearby," Logain told her. "This could be very bad, and I do wish to check it out. I did not want to delay the ritual, but I believe I need to be there to diffuse the situation," he explained, pained at having been interrupt, and at the state of mind his friend might be in at that moment.
Shinn and Izual were not neck and neck, jostling each other playfully, as they went around the circle. The opening rushed near them and they both sprang forward, sliding into the spot, wrestling playfully as the both reached it simultaneously. Shinn eventually emerged the victor and sat down, howling victoriously. Izual stretched and then began to tap heads and go around the circle again. Shinn nuzzled Shera happily, not saying anything, as nothing needed to be said.
Azrael nodded as he saw other gather to where he was. As they came in sight, a breeze whistled by, bringing with it strong fear-scent. Azrael snarled, as did the others and he started to run toward the fear-scent, the rest of his group following, as he moved closer, his sensitive ears could hear yells and screams.

Alunn wasn't surprised at the reaction of the man, his songs could result in odd behavior. He was, however, cautious of the hand axe the man wielded. The rabbit shade moved, grabbing the spear the man had been carrying and darting off. Alunn thought about using blood magic, but he was starved, and the man might overcome the seed of terror his song inspired, so he kept singing. The elf shade leaped at the man's shadow in an effort to try and immobilize him from there.
