megrar uh, question. what is a "visual novel"? is a video game genre. The most well-known ones I can think of are Fate/Stay Night, Tsukihime, and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. They function mostly like Choose Your Own Adventure books, which is where I'm running into trouble; the offical site for Novelty (the program I'm using to make the game) doesn't cover how to make distinct paths; the tutorial only mentions ones that loop back to the main path (like "check closet" if checking the closet doesn't actually do anything). Rather frustrating, given that half the fun in them is discovering the different paths.

I'm making a visual novel, and I kind of fail at comprehending techy things... Is there not a tech forum in gaia? Would be good to see a VN around here, what genre you making it/a wee snippit of storyline? XD I'm interewsted in this biggrin

I'm making a visual novel, and I kind of fail at comprehending techy things... Is there not a tech forum in gaia? Would be good to see a VN around here, what genre you making it/a wee snippit of storyline? XD I'm interewsted in this biggrin Possibly? I never go on the main forums anymore, mostly because not only are even the slowest ones horribly unregulated, the stupid:coherent ratio is almost never within a tolerable range. :/ It's an apocalyptic fantasy. The player character is a reluctant (or very, very enthusiatic, depending on how you play) Anti Christ. I've got about thirty-odd paths to do, not counting the dead ends, and it's nowhere near ready for actually being made, much to my annoyance.

foxy_chick99_123 @Loving: well my day was blah. i've been fighting a freaking cold for the past few days and it's fighting back. right now i'm so tired but my body won't let me sleep because all i've been doing is sleeping. and i have an early shift tomorrow with the lunch rush with the damn school kids that are going to be yelling and screaming and i'll probably end up being right bitchy right back at them... oh and congrats on your new baby. i may not like kids all that much (well mostly the stupid ignorant brats i have to deal with) but babies are so cute. Oh, sorry to hear that you're sick. sad Hope that you feel better soon! And thank you very much, hun. <3

But meh, they sell XD If you don't mind epic gore, guy/guy and a need to find a patch in order to get any of the good endings, may I suggest Animamundi Dark Alchemist? Dark story, nice art (mostly), excellent voice acting, humorous moments, and, occasionally, tension-destroying Engrish from one of the characters. (Note that the English version has a lot of the lovingly detailed gore heavily censored; it was the only way they would be allowed to sell it in the US.)

Hello, I'm new! I don't write much--mostly poetry, actually--but I do plan a lot short stories/novels/role-plays and have a lot of ideas. Character design is something I consider a specialty of mine and I'm pretty good at critiquing story ideas if anyone needs help with them. I'm a perfectionist and am participating in the... um... that contest-like thing where you write a novel in a month? Well, I'm attempting that this year in hopes of getting over my addiction to proofing-as-I-write. It's a terrible disease that prevents progress emo . Anyway, I thought I would check you guys out, so... here I am blaugh !
