** continued from Galley***

Destiny popped up from the hatchway carrying platters of drinks, several types of cakes in tins, and all manner of munchies for the revelers.

" I brought some snacks, if anyone is hungry, or thirsty, or just needs somthing to munch. I'll put them down over on the tables in the corner for easy acess."

Destiny carefully made her way around the musicians, dancers, and the Captain, and placed the platters, mugs, edibles and drinkables onto the tabletop.

She stood along the wall, dancing a few steps, not well, but enjoying everything that was going on around her- the music, dancing, wathing the crew interact with each other. She was having a good time.

Ilor
*smiles while putting the cigar back in his pocket*
"Yeah I know what ya mean I miss the old crew too then was some good times."

*nods her head slightly, while looking at the deck*
Then again...
*she looks him in the eye*
when we had the old crew, you never seemed to come out much. With the newer crew, I get to talk to you, finally...
*she smiled, and patted his shoulder with her hand lightly*

*Holding his hat by the fore'peak, Kurisutofa appeared on deck. Quickly, he made his way aft and peered about the deck as he did so. The wind was builting in the East: superb for the Lady's weatherguage.

Stuffing his hat & coat into a cupboard of the binnacle-house, Jack grabbed the midshipman's glass, mounted the rail and climbed the mainshrouds. Hustling up the ratlines, he soon hauled his weight through the lubbers hole and stood tight against the topta'gallant mast.

Extending the spyglass to it's fullest potential, he peered over the Bay of Lions, and into the Main Shipping Lanes. The wind was exactly what was needed to properly get underway. Yet farther South, a strom was building. A brutal one from the looks of things. But was the crew ready. The stomr would likely fall upon them over the next few days... time was of the essence.*

"AHOY! ON DECK, THERE! ALL HANDS TO MAKE SHIP!
STOW YOUR SHORE-RIG & DAWN ALL WEATHER GEAR.
MR. ILOR!, I WANT LIFELINES FORE & AFT!

HANDS TO MOORING STATIONS! AWAY ALL SHORELINES,
TAKE UP SLACK AND CLEAR TO QUARTERS. MAKE READY FOR SEA.

TOPMEN TO THE SHEETS! LIVELY NOW! LOOK ALIVE!"

*Quickly, he tucked the glass under his arm and he grabbed ahold of a nearby stayline. Riding it to the deck, the only way to fly, he landed hard on the quarterdeck's portrail and he quickly ran down the companionway to his quarters to jump into his oilslicks, leather-hat & boat cloak.*

Hearing the abrupt end to festivities, and not being of any nautical use to anybody, the Doctor felt he should stay out of the way of the crew, so he went below to the galley to sit and perhaps read by candlelight.

She almost forgot what a storm smelled like, but as the electricity in the air tickled her nose the memory came back as quick as a flash of lightning. Lifting her nose to the breeze she took a lungful of salty, stormy air and sighed. Grabbing her scarf and throwing it over her shoulder she went to the nearest sail to prepare the ship for quick departure.

{(Continued from Captain's Quarters)}

*Coming back ondeck, he hurryed the crew to their appropriate stations. Captain Kurisutofa looked at the rigging. His thought process scanned over every little effect a gust of wind would make upon an inch of canvas sheets. As the breeze picked up, his voice died away: orders lost to the fury of the wind. Grabbing the speaking trumpet, he called to the Topmen.*

"SET MAIN'TOPGALLANTS & THE FORESHEETS! LOOK ALIVE!
MAINSAIL HAUL WHEN READY!"

*Looking about the deck, he realized that he was the only Officer attending his dutys. He'd not appointed a new bosun as of yet & Miss Ares was dealing with the hawse-lines forward, but Mr. Ilor had not yet taken command amidships. Realizing that he needed another officer to relay & give orders based upon their own best judgment, he looked to Midnight, who presently was in the rig' unfurling the mainsheets. Aiming his trumpet at her, he bellowed.*

"AHOY, MIDNIGHT!
REPORT TO YOUR STATION UPON THE QUARTERDECK IMMEDIATLEY!"

*Guesturing to his helmsman, he pointed to starboard. He yelled over his shoulder*

"TAKE HER OUT, MR. VANSTRING! HARD TO STARBOARD!"

*As the tiller was turned hard over, the ship lurched forward with the wind: Mr. Vanstring holding his footing as best he could. Grabbing the bellmount, he clanged the clapper hard against the bell to signal an officer's attentions to himself.*

"LIFELINES! I WANT LIFELINES FORE & AFT!
MISS KALE! GO FORWARD AND RETREIVE THE THICK MENILLA LINES FROM EITHER SIDE. THEY ARE BOLTED TO THE BULKWARD ON ONE END. RUN THE LINES HERE UNDER THE QUARTERSTEPS BEHIND THE MAINMAST! QUICKLY NOW!

MISS OMI! QUICKLY INFORM THE DOCTOR THAT HE IS TO PREPARE HIS MEDICAL WARD & PREPARE FOR WOUNDED. HE IS TO BE STATIONED AT THE HEAD OF THE MAINHATCH UNTIL HIS FIRST PATIENT IS TAKEN BELOW. AWAY NOW, IF YOU'D PLEASE."

*As the rain fell, he pulled his long silver hair into a tail and quickly harnested the years of growth into a tamed mass. Grabbing his large weather-worn, oilskin'd cocked hat, he tapped it onto his head and prepared for what was to come.*

"STEP LIVELY MY LADS! MISS ARES, WHEN YOUR ABLE, GRAB THE MASTER AT ARM'S DRUM AND BEAT TO DIVISIONS! MUSTER ALL SOULS ABOARD!"

Looking over her shoulder in the direction her name came from, her fingers slipped trying to untie the rigging knots. Standing from her squatting position she grabbed a crew member to instruct them on what she had been doing, securing the rigging, and raced to the Quarterdeck. What the Captain would have her do was still in question. She had been second in command for a long time, but felt out of place with the new crew looking to her and questioning her command.

Her eyes searched out lazy and unsteady hands, calling out orders to those doing the same job as others and those who had no idea what to do. Always keeping her eye out for the Captain for his next orders she started shifting the ropes on deck to out of the way so no one would trip in a storm but still easy to access incase of man over board. Keeping her hands busy stilled her fluttering heart and kept her mind off the impending storm still heavy in the air.

*she grabs the drum and starts beating it roughly*
Come on, lads!
PostPosted: Sun Sep 03, 2006 1:50 pm

*Her head snapped up at the call to her by the Captain. She hadn't ever worked on any boat before, but it all seemed like common knowledge. Seeing that she was able to quickly adapt to her situations, she nodded curtly and ran over to the bulkward. Grabbing up the lines, she weaved under the quartersteps with the lines. The job seemed easy enough, but with the flurry of people running around the deck, she found herself ladened with a bit more dodging and weaving than she was expecting. Soon enough, the lines were up and she had completed her task.

Jaden looked around the deck and looked for the Doctor as well as Miss Omi who was supposed to find the Doctor. The blur of people running around made it difficult for her to locate anyone but thinking about his lack of boating expertise, she figured he might have gone below anyhow at the call to make ship. She took a quick moment to think about it before going below deck to quickly search for him.*

Little Omi

PostPosted: Sun Sep 03, 2006 1:52 pm

*Hearing what needed to be done, Omi ran below to look for the Doctor. Where had he said he was going? Or had he said anything? Left only to check room by room, Omi figured it was best to get on that immediately. She didn't know how long she had.*

*cont. on the Galley, right?*

"Hard-a Starboard! Aye-Aye, Sir!"

*Placing his full weight into it, Myere put the ship hard'over. Soon the head of the ship was pointing into the wind and the yards came around: the sails setting their courses. With the sheets reefed, the wind plowed into them like a stampede of invisible horses.

With the thunder of the sheets whipping in his ear, Myere looked about the ship. Was his weight going to be enough to hold the rudder in place? The ship's balast could be felt shifting in the hold. The current was thrashng the rudder back adn forht, but Myere would hold it in place or the name of Vanstring was worthless. The Lady would not flounder as long as he was at the helm.*

"Captain! Captain, where be our bearings? What way is Barcelona?"

Myere Vanstring
