Romance is interesting as long as it's not thrown in just for drama (which was basically what the old Dear Diary thread ended up being). Rivalries are fun too! o:

I don't have a problem with drama because it can make for good character development and such, but just throwing in romances for the sake of creating drama because things are getting slow has proven to end badly, lol. In other words, I'm all for romances, I just think we have to put some effort and thought behind them.

Edit: Our new gang is half from super rich families with fancy upbringings and backgrounds (Nari, Luciano, Lucy) and half people from the lower end of Durem who've had to fend for themselves (Kate, Cas, Evron)
I'm a free man now. No more dumb summer courses. Probably getting a B or C, which is fine. I'm not going to crank out an impossible 10-page paper in 8 weeks.

Brainstorming thread is made, nothing fancy.
Once both of the roleplays get going, move the discussion of them to their OOC threads. Yes, that means you may have to quote someone twice, but it keeps this thread from getting cluttered.

Floors: Yes, the gang lives on a floor with restricted access. The floor above and the floor below are also restricted, serving as buffers to make eavesdropping less likely.
Romances and Rivalries: If you're still talking about the main, then I don't see why not.

Rich/Poor: Well... would you expect the middle class to get involved? I think they'd be too scared of losing what they have.

Congrats on your free status! rich/poor: I just thought it was funny that it's almost an even split between the two, lol. Also, I posted and it ended up being a lot longer than I anticipated, oops.
@KD -- I sort of just used the position you suggested in my post, sorry. :s I'll edit it if you decide you don't want her working the front desk.
yeah, I think that that is a fantastic Idea! our characters do seem to fit together nicely to have a rivalry and friendship between them.

One of the main characters in Rent is an exotic dancer who works at the Cat Scratch club, omfg... I'm laughing so hard right now that's incredible
