"No, actually I am the one wondering why you were the cause of the violence. The memory I have is of the healer being rid of poison, and you draining the powers of them, or at least one of them. What I want to know is if this was madness, or if you are merely lying through your teeth at us. The latter of course would be very painful for you" Alunn said, smiling a little grimly at the teeth part. Few knew that that saying originated from vampires.

"Madness then? I suppose it is no use to hide my curse if indeed you have seen it in action but I fear I do not recall what you are talking about. Like I said I was young then and compared to either of you I am still quite young." Kayla said with a sigh. "Why do you think I choose not to let other's touch me? I can not even begin to make amends to those I have hurt when I was a child but I also had no memory before being attacked and rescued by Shera and Celeron. For all I know not only am I cursed with this inability to feel the warmth of another creature for long but I might also might suffer from random amnesia."

Kayla was obviously very uncomfortable now. She felt like she had to escape even as voices came to her. Uncertainly began to fill her as she told the voices to shut with her internal dialog. If she had to defend herself she needed to concentrate.

Alunn hissed slightly. "Logain, may I? Her curse shouldn't interfere and it would be the best way to figure things out. That and I feel that I am slipping and would try anyways. It would allow us to end things here, and blood magic only heightens my thirst the more I sustain it" Alunn asked, hand digging into his side.

"You would harm me for something out of my control? You would gack..." Kayla said before reeling back dazed. It was the voices again but this time once pushed to the top of the swirling masses of chaotic egos and thoughts.

Kayla looked slack for a moment before looking calmly at the two. "You would harm this child after we sacrificed ourselves to save her? She was under the influence of great evil magics she did not want and in the end we could do but one thing to save her. Now we are a part of her and we protect from within what we could not protect outside." The strange words came from her lips but it also sounded deeper somehow as she looked at both of them. "If you insist on harming her I will do what I can again to save this poor child whom the world would despise for her curse."

Logain's eyes widened when Kayla went slack. Her aura changed, in fact, he was sure that it was not Kayla's aura exuding from her body. The voice from her body confirmed this, and he stood between the two. "No, Alunn. I believe that we've done what we can with this. I can perform healings, it's not quite my expertise, but I can tell that what happened back then is not our affair, as it has been seen to." He said. Logain bowed to Kayla. "Forgive our impudence and ignorance. Our concern has misguided our intentions." As he spoke and bowed, he though he might be able to do something to help her further, it wouldn't be much, but he hoped that if he asked, Kayla would take it under consideration.

"Why does every bloody person I meet outside of the Grace of Destruction think vampires hurt people? Most of us are pacifists!" Alunn growled. "Now if you excuse me I think I'll go burn down a village and eat babies like the monster I am" he muttered, the spell fading, returning the three to their original surroundings, and stalking off into the woods.

Miluiel half smiled in Lauvel's direction in case his eyes wondered over in her direction. She could tell the poor dear was nearly trembling in his boots. It was obvious he didn't do much public speaking. She hoped that her smile and helpful nod would give him more courage as he spoke, again, only if he looked in her direction would he see this. Her own expression did falter, however, at the mention of the Grell. A shiver ran through her body in spite of herself. They were not her most favorite group of elves out there.

Miluiel's face became as still as a statue. She listened with worry in her face, and stress in her tight muscles. This news Lauvel presented was not good. Surely this meant that they would be leaving.

Miluiel nodded slightly towards her son. "Yes Shinn, the truth is what must be spoken. But you see darling, each person's truth is different. It is shaped by their feelings and their beliefs. It doesn't always make sense, but what ever each of us is thinking, that is our own truth." She said to her son softly.

"Thank you for understanding. Great misfortunes have touched all of our lives but thanks to that room I was able to take control of Kayla for this moment. For now I must return so safe journey to you both." the eerie voice said now calmer from Kayla regardless of the aggressive nature mere moments earlier.

Kayla blinked and wavered as her hand touched a tree for support. It was now that she realized the room she was in seemed to be gone and she was standing in snow just as the two questioning her were not far away. She wasn't sure what was happening but it was almost like waking from a troubled sleep as she shook her head. "A-are you done asking me questions now?" she asked confused not knowing when the room disappeared. "I didn't mean to hurt anybody. I swear it."

((Sorry for the wall's of text I've been throwing out lately. sweatdrop ))

Logain reached a hand in Alunn's direction, but he had stalked off before the gesture could be seen. He sighed mightily, "Alunn... I never thought that." The words were spoken to himself, as Alunn was now out of earshot. Logain looked back toward Kayla and smiled. "Yes, we've reached our conclusion," he said, pleasantly, "please forgive us for our misunderstanding. It is just that we were concerned for the werewolf tribe here. They have more than enough on their minds right now. I didn't want any more dangers creeping up on them." Logain bowed low, apologetically. "As recompense for our mistake, please allow me to do something for you that may help you manage your curse, at least for some time."

Lauvel felt a small load ease off of his shoulders at Miluiel's smile. Her wolf form may be different from the one he was most familiar with, but the eyes were still the same, and it didn't seem so strange with that.

Shana stood tall again, her lips curled back, revealing her teeth. "There, the elf has presented all the proof we need. Our options against these humans are to either leave, or to stay and fight off two armies worth of them. Neither are attractive options." She declared.

It was then that Veral seemed to poke his head above the crowd. In actuality, it was Mazzia picking him up by the feet and raising him upward, though not too high, so he could stand without falling on someone and giggling despite herself. It was almost disconcerting to be held so effortlessly. Veral cleared his voice and spoke, "Having lived among humans for a period of my life, I think it is best to offer my perspective on this, though I will grant I never even knew about these Nations until today." His voice was clear, but he did not need to raise it too much. "They seem to have cornered both sides of the valley, and I wouldn't discount reserves on the other side of the forest either as well as trained mages to bring in these reserves quickly. Humans are cautious, though they lack, or perhaps because they lack, abilities that would allow them to detect groups trying to escape. I would believe in this case, that they would be on guard for anyone trying to get past them, believing that they would be trying to get the drop on them, if we were trying flee, we'd have a good chance of getting caught, especially if we were to leave as a whole group," Veral explained.

"But I do not think we should stay either. Given that this is the first time in Millenia that humans and their allies are able to make an influence on the world, they will not back down easily. Our best chance is to use a ritual to transport us to another location, perhaps via teleportation or translocation, though I would need to consult the other travelers staying with us to do one properly. I also suggest we wait until tomorrow to leave, I believe that we should gather some basic knowledge of where they are and what they are doing to determine the best course of action." Veral finished and Mazzia lowered him back down.

Azrael nodded at Veral and examined the rest of the tribe. They seemed to accept Veral's input, he was the resident expert on humans after all. "We have what we need, and I tend to concur with what Veral's perspective. Is there anything else?" He inquired, immediately receiving several voices demanding explanations and his thoughts on certain matters, and he proceeded to address them.

Listening to Miluiel's words, Shinn shut his eyes and snuggled tighter. As he did so a strange vision came to him. He saw the woods and everything in them burning, spirits shrieking as their ties were cut and balance was cast down. The fire ended, only charred remains and eerie silence left behind and cruel looking people digging the ground up, then suddenly his vision soared into a set of strange ruins that lay deep within the forest, his father had mentioned them once. A figure in deep purple garments was standing amid them and chanting in some incomprehensible language. A hidden door opened, and the figure in purple leered greedily inside, the greed then became horror, and strange, ethereal beasts poured out of the hoel, sweeping the man inside, horror spreading out from the ruins, then over the graveyard that had once been the forest, and then over the world.

Shinn's eyes opened, with tear of fright pouring from them. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" He howled with fear and uncharacteristic ferocity.

The room fell silent instantly and Azrael turned to his son. "Shinn! What is this about?" He demanded, both perturbed that his son would interrupt in such a manner, and very concerned fro his son's well-being.

Shinn sniffed and then explained his vision to the rest of the tribe. "We can't leave!! We can't let 'em let those bad things out. We've gotta make them go away!" Shinn shook his head vigorously, trying to make the lingering vision go away. It did not.

The tribe immediately broke out into argument, with only snippets of debate able to be heard through the din, "He's just a child, and a male at that. He's just scared of leaving," was followed, or perhaps led by, "The pup misinterpreted! When Izalia was around, her visions were more vivid, and she drew meanings from them that weren't granted to lesser perspectives!"

"ENOUGH!" This time the call out came from Mazzia, and not Shana or Azrael, much to the surprise of the Tribe. Mazzia was always strong of opinion of perspective, though she usually was more subtle about it, though perhaps that was more to distinguish herself from her sister. "Shinn is of Izalia's blood. She told me that some vision's have no hidden meaning, but were of premonition or perhaps revelation of knowledge that had otherwise been lost to the past. I believe this image is genuine, or otherwise we wouldn't be so keen on rejecting it. I'd like to believe that he's seeing a past occurrence, but we cannot run the risk. We might be in danger, but we cannot allow the Great Mother's creations to be tainted by whatever danger is housed in those ruins." She spoke very loudly, very clearly, and it was immediately apparent that no one could say anything to dispute that. Even Shana was silent, and brooding over the significance of this turn of events.

Azrael stood tall again, but spoke softly. "Veral, could you please take the pups down to the caves below the hill. If we need you, we'll send someone to relieve you." He said.

Veral nodded. "Alright children, please come with me." He said, kneeling down to a comforting position. The adult cleared the way so he could be seen.

Kayla moved from confusion to more of a state of relief that the harsher words had given away to a much kinder man. She wish she could remember either of them from the past but they said they were there and it seemed they were going to work together against her.

"S-so you promise you won't touch me when you do? The seal I have has lasted me as long as it has because I have avoided contact with others." Kayla said calming down at his offer. After all now that he did't seem aggressive he came off being quite charming. "I don't want to accidentally hurt you sir. Can you also promise not to tell the others of my past? I try to live as a normal human and this power in me makes me anything but.

Shera began whimpering after Shinn let out such a chilling howl. The story he told that followed chilled her greatly. She was terrified, she didn't want to leave, she didn't want that vision to come true. She began to cry, and warm tears slipped from her eyes and down into her fur. She hid in her mother's warm, protective fur.

Miluiel jumped forward quickly, careful of her daughter, to sooth her son. She heard the story and scared at her son with wide eyes. It was true, he really was his mother's son. The things he had seen in his vision... Miluiel wrapped her arms around him and held him tightly. "My poor dear." She whispered. She kissed his head tenderly.

The thought of being separated from her children now upset Miluiel. She wanted to go with them and help Veral, but Azrael might need her here. Shera seemed bound and determined to not let go. She was terrified, that much was certain. "Shera, please." She whispered softly. "You must go with them. We still have some things to talk about." She said to her daughter. Shera refused to go still.

Azrael turned to Miluiel and looked at her concerned. "Miluiel. I would also like you to go down with them. If we need you we will send someone to tell you. Please, Miluiel, Veral." He insisted. Azrael hugged Miluiel and nuzzled her, before doing the same for both of his children. With Miluiel there, it would be more comfortable for the children. Miluiel was Alpha female, after all. They would feel that much more comfortable with her there. Having Veral there would also keep them calm, given his abilities and his role as a teacher. "I don't want you left out, but they need you there. Go on."

Shinn was almost too nervous to move. The words about his birth-mother made him feel strange. The adults looked at him weirdly, and he didn't like it. He didn't like having that vision. Shinn's continued to cry, the way it made him feel only made it worse.

Veral stood by Miluiel, the small crowd of nervous pups were gathering close to Miluiel and Veral. Reluctantly he placed a hand on her shoulder, a gesture that they should get moving. A male went to the back of the Long House and opened a trap-door leading to the caves that served as a sanctuary.

Two mothers who were still nursing infants joined the group going below, their charges nestled on their back. The room stood still as they waited for them to go below.

Logain smiled and knelt a bit, his draconic eyes were benevolent and understanding of her concern. "I will not need to touch you. What I will do for you will allow you to not have to worry about harming others with your touch. What I offer is a barrier of sorts, it won't affect you at all, but if someone were to try to touch you, they would touch the barrier, though they wouldn't know the difference. If it doesn't work properly, I will remove it right away, you have my promise." He told, wanting to relieve a little of her burden.

The group of soldiers continued to tread through the forest. They had come upon a lake that they had been informed of. Canor looked at the lake, it was frozen, but the ice appeared to be thinning, definitely not safe to walk on. He had never even seen naturally frozen water before. But that only increased his discomfort, they were coming close to something, and he didn't know if it would go well.

Miluiel looked up at her husband in surprise. She blinked a couple times before responding with a nod. “Thank you Azrael.” She said softly and returned the warm hug to him. She watched as he hugged his children before she gave him a weakened smile and another hug before she left with the children. She lifted Shera up onto her back and lowered her head to Shinn’s level. “Shinn, dear,” She began, “Come along dear.” She nuzzled him gently and stepped over him to block him from the eyes of everyone else. “If we walk like this I will keep you safe.” She promised softly. “They won’t be able to see you. I will be there with you.”

Miluiel looked up at Veral and nodded. She understood the urgency. “Come along dears.” She cooed softly to all of the pups. She waited for all of the others to enter the caves before she followed along silently.

Kayla's heart skipped a beat. She had never heard of anything like that before in her travels. Was it possible instead of removing her curse to instead make it so she could touch once more? Did she dare chance touching another even with such powerful magic affecting her? She was exited and nervous at the thought of a solution that would at least help relieve magical stresses from the shifting insignia upon her back.

"And will I be able to feel them without knowing the difference as well? How will I know if the barrier falls and I have become compliant with my new found freedom. Still at least for a moment it would be a welcomed change from worrying about accidentally being touched until I can find a way to free myself from this accursed body of mine. Please sir even if it would make me suffer I would gladly accept any protection you can give and peace of mind." Kayla said after taking a deep breath to calm down slightly. Deep within her she wondered if it was another trap but if he could alleviate some of her fears then the chance was worth it.

Logain stood up a bit higher. "It will feel different from touching something normally. The spell will replicate the sensation of touch for you, but from the feel it is easy to tell it is a simulation of the real thing." He explained. "As for checking on the spell, it is quite easy, it is quite similar to checking for enchantments, and I can teach that to how to do that beforehand." Logain smiled again. "I think, however, that we should return to our hosts. I think it would be more comfortable to do inside." He suggested, thoughtfully.

Lauvel was also excused from the matter, and went down with them, though he stayed in the rear, knowing he would likely get lost up front.

Shinn wiped the tears from his eyes and nodded as he walked along beneath her. He felt a bit better, protected from the gazes of others.

The other pups followed along, with Veral helping the smallest ones. As they made their way into the caves, they became illuminated with a soft, gentle light. Veral used his powers to project an aura of calm over the children, to keep them together as they made their way through the caves. The two mothers took up the tail end and the trap-door closed gently. "Let's move along now, little ones. We're going to the central chamber." He said, knowing that it would be furnished with plenty of hide and fur blankets that the children could rest on.

Azrael watched them go sadly, and nodded to Miluiel reassuringly. Miluiel, when we wed, we agreed to work as one. This allows us to be in two places at once. The Alpha's presence is needed there to keep them calm. He thought sadly. As they all went down to the sacntuary, and the trap-door shut, he turned back to what was left of the assembled tribe. "Now, we are faced with something far greater than ourselves, and I believe we are in agreement that we can't let that place fall into unknowing hands." Assent rippled through the tribe. "We also cannot allow all of the tribe fall into danger. I think that we need to utilize Veral's plan of using transportation magic. We can't fight them off alone, our only chance is to have a group go to Talithan, and ask him for assistance.

At this, Shana hissed, though not fully in dissent. "Can we really expect assistance from him?" She inquired. "The forest elves have troubles of their own. And such an act would not endear us to them, however much progress we may have made.

Azrael sighed mightily. "I cannot say that you are wrong. But we have nowhere else to turn, and it is our only hope. We are the only werewolf tribe in this region, and as far as we know, the only in this part of the world. If the other travelers have returned, I shall inquire of them of what they can do to assist us. But we also need to contact Talithan as a way to ensure our tribe's continuity. We cannot be so calloused as to put children on the battlefield." He told them, very concerned, be clear on what the tribe's course of action should be.

Another voice, this one a male, spoke from the back, "We are all anxious, Alpha. To be faced with this threat is a grave issue, but to call in other outsiders... we are not quite at ease."

Azrael shook his head. "I don't expect you to be. But with help from Talithan, we can be sure to get people who respect our beliefs and share our love of Nature. Given that our brethren tribes are not here to support us, they will be the best help we can get." He told them. Azrael truly hoped that he could get the help he needed, because they would be needing it soon.
