A few days ago in World Cultures we were doing book work about colonial Latin America. There was one question that said, "How did Europeans make money from their American colonies?" One boy frustrated boy exclaimed, "All I see is the Spanish, I don't see anything about the Europeans." Then he said, "In Spain they speak Spanish, in Europe they speak German." Later some asked the same question. gonk

Spain is part of Europe, Europe is comprised of more than one country with more than one language. (It's too bad he'll never hear that)

When the kid asked what was so funny I told him Spain was part of Europe, which is when he said the speak German in Europe.
