Sighing, Mairyela left the dining hall with eyes on her back. The announcement of the arrival of those from the farm had come to a surprise for everyone. There had been questions, looks of confusion and wonder, as well as a collective aura of disgruntlement. There had been no answers to give, and the looks had melded from surprise to suspicion. She hated keeping things from her Novices and Accepted, but it was the Amyrlin's decision to make. She only did what she could.
Now there were other matters at hand. That odd woman, and her Warders that smelt of...nothing before smelled. It bothered her more than it should have, and years of following her senses had never proved her wrong. It had looked like the Green, if that was truly what she was, had looked as though she were heading towards the upper floors, to the offices. She wanted answers, and she began heading towards the hidden staircases used for the help. It was the faster way, and she would be able to head her off before she reached the Keepers office.

He blinked. And it seemed to him that it all happened in an instant. All the men given to him were slain. And much to his dismay, he was not. The Aiel was demanding an answer from him. Despite the gravity of the situation, he couldn't help but wonder what an Aiel was doing here. In Illian. With Tower Warders no less.
"You can't intimidate me with those eyes of yours Wolfkin. Great water? You mean the sea? I don't know anything about that. I have a distaste for the Tower and their self given superiority. I make no secret of it, to the right people of course.
You came as part of the Tower. I was told to find out what you wanted, and capture you if possible. Heh. It would seem the opposite has occured. But true to mercenary policy, I didn't ask anything, nor did he offer any information. I don't even know that I'll meet him again, given that he will more than likely find out about this ambush."
The curious thing about the man was that he in particular didn't seem to be particularly afraid. It was because he was of the belief that as the man who hired him would not contact him again, and he knew nothing, they would more likely than not eventually let him go.

Mercury's mind kept racing. She couldn't sleep. She wanted to go to Tel'ar'an'hoid, find an answer. But she couldn't. Fog. She had to get Clarissa back to the Tower's safety. The same thoughts kept racing through her mind. From sheer need, she managed to doze for a few hours, but she was up before Hawk had been at her side for more than a half hour. She sat up in bed, and held out her hands to him.
"Hawk, could you Heal me please. I can't sleep enough to rest." The fact that she was asking him so outright-and thereby admitting her exhaustion-indicated how seriously she had stopped bothering about all other pretenses and matters.
She had no choice. She would have to go to the ang'real room. The hedgehog. Hawk and Wolf would watch from a distance, so that even with the Tower watch gone, they wouldn't be defenseless. Once Clarissa was back, then she would remove the hedgehog. The guard would wake, and all would be settled. Or so she was hoping.

Whitecloaks. The Warders with Raznon were grumbling amongst themselves, trying to piece together what they were doing. They wouldn't have done so without a reason.
"Who is this?" The comment caught the attention of most of the Gaidin. They glanced cursorily in the direction the remark had come from. One of them was examining their fallen companion. "He's not with our group. I've never seen him before."
Sure that there was some confusion, first one Gaidin, and then eventually a group of six surrounded the corpse. They were stunned. It was indeed a stranger lying there, dressed in the clothes of their own. They glanced around. "Jamal. Where is he?"

"Pack your things. In order now! As I said, we will be returning to the Tower briefly, by request of the Mistress of Novices." The other sisters in charge of running the farm watched with impassive faces, as a wave of surprise and confusion went through the girls.
"We will be going this evening. We will return shortly. You are to pack everything. If you finish, you are to assist the Sisters, with any task they may assign. Assemble here at the time of evening meal. Do NOT be late, or you will risk severe punishment. And not here in the seclusion of the farm, at that, but at the Tower itself. It is your chances of being raised that stand to be tarnished, should anything go wrong there. Be wise."
So saying, she dismissed them. Now. She was going to go back out into the woods to make sure nothing was afoot. The other Aes Sedai could handle the farm for an hour or so.

Markis had closed his side of the bond momentarily. Partly because Mercury's chaotic thoughts were mildly distracting. But mostly because he didn't want anyone to know what he was doing. Six times he had tried to enter Tel'ar'an'hoid, only to be forced back out. He sat scowling at the wall of his room in the Barracks.
There were many options left to him. Could he chance them? He had struggled long to escape the darkness. And if he toyed with it now? If it consumed him-though he was sure it would not-then there was no telling what effect it would have on Mercury or Hawk. And without Clarissa to straighten matters if things went wrong, he wasn't sure anyone in the Tower would be able to handle such a crisis.
He scowled to himself. His possessors were dead. He had seen to that. Mercury had seen to it. Perhaps it was time to see if the abilities they had granted him still existed. He decided to wait until Clarissa had been returned to the Tower, and made his way out of the Barracks. He meandered somewhat, planning to end up at Mercury's office eventually. He stopped to talk with the Swordmaster about the group that had gone to Illian.

Brianne had been unsure if it was worth the risk of doing what Jamal had asked her. She had never been strong enough to even be considered for the Tower. Once during the Aes Sedai searches, she had been discovered. Pondered over, and then left alone. But Jamal had suddenly appeared. And just as suddenly gone. With the warning not to tell anyone.
She intended to forget as soon as possible. Sitting in her room, she stared at the pitcher. Strong ale, from the tankard. Not watered down. She was going to become blackly drunk, forget his coming, and remember only a terrible headache in the morning. Or so she hoped. Otherwise, there would be others besides Jamal.

Hawk walk over to Mercury and extend his palm to her forehead with his right hand. He put his other hand on her back close to her waistline holding her firm yet gently. He channeled the male part of the true source using the healing elements of fire, wind and earth. This is the way he was thought to heal by the lord dragon, abit harsher than the female way, but it does the same result. He channeled saidin for a few more minutes. When done she seem somewhat more alive, her sleepy movement gone and her eyes more lively. As usual he gets lost just looking on her face, it makes him calm inside.

Mercury flinched a little as saidin went through her. She was more accustomed to it now than she had been, but it still felt odd. She didn't mind however; she felt somewhat better after Hawk had Healed her. She noted vaguely that Wolf's side of the bond was closed; whether he had just done so or while she was asleep she wasn't sure. It was no matter for the moment. She sighed, and settled against Hawk, keeping his arms around her. Hawk was not going to approve of what she was doing.
Still looking at her feet, she spoke. "I'm going to agree to Romvian's terms. We have to get Clarissa back."
Over the course of the argument the night before, Wolf had explained to Hawk the terms-Clarissa's return, in exchange for Mercury's cooperation for some unknown agenda. Wolf had pointed out numerous things Romvian could demand, none of which were pleasant.
"Whatever he may ask, I'll have to deal with it when he demands it. Until then, we have no way of knowing what he might want, and therefore no way of preparing for it."

Raznon listened to the wetlander and sifted through what he was saying in his mind. Finding nothing of interest but a man with no knowledge he decided that there was no reason to press the issue further. The man was still staring him down with that defiant glare but that would end soon enough.
"You seem to believe that you are not the same as them then? Ha! You wetlander scum make me laugh...you dont fight the Tower cause of thier supposed superiority...you fight cause you fear that which you cannot comprehend. Whitecloaks...I have heard you...you believe that you serve a holy quest in destroying the Tower by any means necessary? Ha! You no more serve the Light's wishes than the Sightblinder serves the Light. No matter...anything else before I kill you...no...Im not letting you go...because you have given me nothing in return for your pitiful excuse for a life."
Raz vaguely listened to the Warders standing over the corpse of one of thier own...or so it had appeared. He left the prisoner in the hands of the Warders holding him and went to examine the body.
"What is wrong Gaidin?"

The Warders looked up at Raznon's approach. They indicated the body.
"He's not one of our party. Don't know who he is. Or who would be fool enough to try imitating a Gaidin. Jamal's missing. Likely this one came in his place. But why didn't we notice till now? We're not fools to miss something so obvious as one of our party being switched...."
There was a thud sound from behind him and they glanced behind to see their mercenary pinned into the dust.

The mercenary could make out that something was wrong, and he kept his eyes on the Aiel. What could it be? In his curiosity, he was somewhat too obvious as he peered after him. The Gaidin watching over him gently nudged him into the ground, for his overt curiosity, the sound of which caused the others to turn. As he fell, the killer understood that the object of wonder was another body. It was one of the Warders. Why did it matter so much?

Before she had even reached the landing of the staircase, she could sense them. More to the point, she could sense him. It lingered on her mind like a vivid memory. Something she could not place her finger on, but it gave her shivers.
Glancing around the corner, she spotted them. The woman, regal in her stance, and her two Warders. Without being surprised, she logged in their appearances for later use. The woman, dark of hair and skin, had her long hair kept back in a thick braid. Her dark green dress shimmered in the morning light reflecting from the windows.
The two men could not be more different. The one that smelt of sweat and endurance was short, but built like a boulder. Thick arms and neck accentuated his broad shoulders, and his shirt stood tight against his chest. Short blonde hair framed his marred and square-shaped face. The other, the one with eyes that reminded Mairyela of death, was tall, dark haired and thin. She knew better than to take his thin frame for weakness. Pale skin, dark clothing and the color shifting cloak made him look more intimmidating than his partner.
Taking a breath, she knew the situation would be awkward, and possibly dangerous, not only due to the difference in Power which left her at a disadvantage, but also the Warders. She knew she should wait for Skiiy to show before confronting this group but she may not get another shot. Taking a deep breath, she walked out from her observation spot and into the path of the strange Green.
