The sugary draft apparently hadn't had the same effect on Levi as it did with West. Such was expected of a ghoul who lived on a candy farm. It wasn't the same, of course, but sweetness in general was something Levi had a high tolerance for, it seemed; rancid or otherwise. Alright. Levi followed West into the next shop, pleasantly surprised at his method of purchasing. Huh, didn't think 'bout doin' that. There was a compliment in there somewhere.

[EXITING MAUL]Malodore nodded, relieved, then removed the pin - and instantly was back where it should be, with all the bits it should have. The plague doctor reached up and tapped at its beak, then slumped contentedly into its seat, stretching its wings out a bit. Thank Jack. ... And now there was paperwork. Always paperwork... DETH SURVEY! EXPERIENCING HUMANS!Name: L.C. Malodore Year: 3rd Other than Fear, why are Humans important to us? ... They... provide a nice place to visit and learn and experiment? In the field trip, what have you noticed about Humans that is different from what you expected? They are rather mysterious beings, and the younger ones seem more astute and possibly dangerous than the elders. Would I like to learn more about Humans in the future? Yes Why do you think it is important to save a Human who is hurt? So they will cease screaming loudly in my ear, in addition to learning more about their physiology. Name one positive Human experience you have had today A small child willingly gave me a hug rather than me having to take one by force. It was far simpler that way.

The cashier returned a few minutes later, dumping several small boxes on the counter in front of him. "Okay. So, we have this lightning yo-yo—" "No."West waved his hand in a clear dismissal. A lightning yo-yo was just about the stupidest thing he'd encountered all day, and he'd encountered some pretty stupid things. "Key chain robot?" The demon shrugged, gesturing toward the table. The robot was placed to one side. "Ooo, I like this one!" West looked skeptical. "It's a night sky flashlight. Just turn off the lights, point it at your ceiling, and bam—the North American hemisphere right there in your room!" He didn't know what the North American hemisphere was, but he had caught the phrase "night sky." The human sky on his ceiling. West didn't want to admit it, but that was kind of... cool. "Can I get more than that North Amerriwhatever sky?""We have a little something called the Stardome 9600." The cashier smiled the smile of a true nerd. "But it's a little out of your price range. This one will have to do."

Levi went from looking at the attendant to checking West's reactions with the items she'd brought back for his consideration. A no go for the yo-yo, huh? Levi thought that could be pretty neat! When West seemed to consider the keychain robot, Levi raised a brow. Sometimes, it was hard to tell why he did things. When the attendant showed West something she seemed enthusiastic about, Levi tilted her head as the human explained. Seein' stars in yer room. That's a neat trick. It really had surprised the tatzel that humans would have the ability to craft something like that. The hunters had nice things because they'd gotten them from the essence of halloween. Common humans weren't so simple it seemed. Levi's lightbulb went off when the girl mentioned the high grade of product was more costly than what West had to offer. Emptying her pockets of the chain she'd acquired from her own purchase over the counter, Levi could only hope it was enough. For once, she was able to help pay for something more costly. She grinned at West like she'd just acquired the lottery and could afford the world. This 'nuff?

The tinkling and crumpling of human money made West's head turn sharply toward Levi and her change. Now he supposed he knew what it felt like to be the one who was reluctant to accept charity. But... he kind of really wanted this star thing. And Levi's weird human face looked so happy. "How much?" he asked the cashier. "You've got enough there. It's twenty-five." West narrowed his eyes slightly at the ghoul then looked up at the human again. This meatbag really didn't seem all that weirded out by two strange customers who knew little to nothing about money barging in on this peaceful shop. Maybe it was because they were the only people in here. "Guess we'll take it then."It wasn't long before the Stardome 9600 was bagged up and handed over, along with a whopping $3.78 in change. West held out the wrinkled human money for Levi to take if she wanted. "Thanks."

[EXITING MAUL]Riley was still pressing her fingers against her lips when she pulled off her pin carefully with her other hand, maneuvering the box under her arm while she did so. She felt the sudden loss of the plump flesh, and the return of the smooth, featureless face. It was a loss, certainly, but said loss was severely overshadowed by the bliss of her tentacles return.
Uuuughhhhh. She moaned, putting the box down and shaking her tentacles out over, and over. Uuuuuuuuuuuuugh.
It was good to be back.
After a good few minutes of just shaking her tentacles out and reveling in their return, she picked up the paper and hastily filled out the survey. DETH SURVEY! EXPERIENCING HUMANS!Name: Riley Year: 3rd Other than Fear, why are Humans important to us? They give us a good example of what our lives could have been, had we been less fortunate and born as a human. The comparison helps us to appreciate what we have. In the field trip, what have you noticed about Humans that is different from what you expected? I noticed nothing that I did not already know. Would I like to learn more about Humans in the future? Yes Why do you think it is important to save a Human who is hurt? I do not recall agreeing to the proposition that saving a hurt human was important. Name one positive Human experience you have had today Getting a better glimpse of the humans in their current cultural timeline is always a helpful experience. Then she went back to shaking her tentacles out with her hands. I felt so disabled without them..

Ya'll can- keep the change. Levi was about to say West could just keep what was left, but the ghoul actually liked the idea of having a reminder of this. It was the first time she'd given money to West, boil from a wealthy demon family. The tatzel held out her tiny human hand and took the change offered, once again pocketing it. She hoped it would remain in her pocket when they changed back rather than in her boot or something. Well, thank ya right back.Walking out of the shop with both of their tasks now complete, Levi moved back towards their Professor. Ready ta head'on back? Levi glanced over at the bag West held, unable to motion a tail to define her current curiosity proper, so she held her hands behind her back with her own bag, swaying side to side while she walked. It would have to do. Sounds interestin' seein' stars inside. Coming from the mountains in a secluded sort of backwater town, stargazing was a regular extravagance everyone could enjoy and Levi wanted to see this version for herself. Ya'll're gonna show 'em ta'me too when ya'got it set up, right? The ghoul handed her bag to one of the Deth attendants for inspection who soon passed it quickly back to her. Okay, cleared. Levi waited for West to have his checked as well before moving on and removing the pin.

[ EXITING MAUL ] "Mmm hmm," West agreed, walking along beside her. He was most definitely ready to head back home and get his proper clothing back, not to mention get rid of all of these holes. He was a little surprised that Levi seemed interested in seeing the stars, mostly because he had planned on asking her to come by and look at them anyway. The boil nodded. "Yeah, sure," he said, his tone a bit less casual than he might have liked. "I'll let y'know when I'm thinkin' of settin' em up."Once his bag was inspected, West wasted no time yanking the stupid green smile off of his shirt. He found himself back home, with the promised surveys nearby. Taking one off the top of the stack, he sat down and began filling it out, his human world purchase cradled carefully on his lap. DETH SURVEY! EXPERIENCING HUMANS! Name: West Year: 3 Other than Fear, why are Humans important to us? They make some cool things. In the field trip, what have you noticed about Humans that is different from what you expected? They leash their kids. Would I like to learn more about Humans in the future? Sure. Why do you think it is important to save a Human who is hurt? How hurt are we talking here because if its just a skinned knee or something they should really just suck it up. Name one positive Human experience you have had today Loud humans are pretty interesting. I saw Angry ones listed too. I'd like to get a meeting with one of those next time.

((EXITING MAUL))
Taima returned to the designated meeting spot and was handed a green piece of paper. She inspected it dubiously as she was told it was human currency. How could this small, insubstantial piece of paper possibly have any value? It lacked the weight and substance of silver seeds, and although it had 20 printed on it multiple times, it was only a single sheet.
Humans were weird.
She headed back towards the stores, poking her head into the ones that looked interesting but not really seeing anything she'd want to keep as a souvenir of her first adventure in the human world. Humans seemed to have horrible taste in clothes, questionable taste in music, and odd taste in novelties (fake vomit? Flies in plastic ice cubes? And what was a whoopee cushion, anyway?). She was beginning to lose hope that she'd find anything worthwhile when she came across a bookstore. She was genuinely surprised to find it; judging by the blank, empty looks she had seen on most of the human shoppers today, humans hadn't seemed the type to do something as productive to read for fun. Or at all, for that matter.
Taima went inside, looking over the selection of titles arranged on the first table she saw: The Zombie Survival Guide, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. That humans not only read books, but read the same kind of books any shop in Halloweentown would carry raised Taima's opinion of them. She wandered through the aisles with a newfound appreciation for human literature, looking for a book she might want to take home. She skipped over the trashy romance novels and the simple-looking books that were obviously for scarelings. There was an entire section of picture books that looked interesting, and Taima paused to look at a few of them before moving on.
Then she saw it: countless books on all aspects of the history of this world, from its origins to its various cultures to even recent noteworthy events. Taima ran her fingers over the spines as she read the titles, wishing for the first time that she could stay in the human world so she could learn all of its secrets, past and present. She wanted to know what made the humans tick, how they had evolved into the bland, homogeneous species that were on display today and if they had ever, at any point in their entire history, been anything more interesting. She finally stopped on a thick book, pulling it off of the shelf and looking it over. It seemed to be an illustrated history of the world, and after a quick flip through it, Taima decided that this was what she wanted to spend her human currency on.
She tapped her foot impatiently as she waited in line at the registers, not bothering to wait for the harried-looking clerk at the front to ring up the book--she merely slapped the bill down on the desk and walked out of the store, ignoring the human's shout of "Hey, you can't do that! Security!" Whatever. He would take the 20 human dollars she had and he would like it. She made her way back to the fountain, handing one of the attendants her book before removing her pin. There was a brief moment of disconnect between the human world and Halloween, but after the disorientation had passed, Taima was happy to see she was in her own body again. She stretched her wings, relieved to have the familiar weight back, before walking over to grab a survey.
DETH SURVEY! EXPERIENCING HUMANS!
Name: Taima Year: 1 Other than Fear, why are Humans important to us? They provide a prime example of the kind of creatures we should endeavor not to be. In the field trip, what have you noticed about Humans that is different from what you expected? Their emotional reactions vary wildly and unexpectedly depending on the individual and the situation. Also, I didn't expect them to read for fun. Would I like to learn more about Humans in the future? Yes Why do you think it is important to save a Human who is hurt? Saving an injured human is still of little to no importance to me. Name one positive Human experience you have had today A human actually sought me out in order to receive a hug. While the individual in question was both fat and smelly, it enabled me to complete the initial assignment.

Muka recognized another of the 'Sports Humans'. It was wearing the same jersey as the one Needle had hugged but this one seemed to be female and very heavily caked in makeup. He approached caustiously but with a chipper grin thought perhaps to make this go smoother.
"Ah... Go tigers!?" He waved a fist around in mock enthusiasm.
"GO TIGERS! AHHH!!!" The woman grabbed him in a hug without him even trying and proceeded to cheer. "TI-GERS! TI-GERS!"
He practically had to peel himself away.

The next group of humans looked like they were Halloween-wannabes. The wore all black and their skin had been powdered pale. Perhaps they would be a more comfortable scene for him to jump into?
"Ahh hello?" The strix hovered at the edge of their group. None of them looked at him. The few that did gave him side eyed glances but nothing more. "Ahm.. I like your clothing."
"WHAT DO YOU WANT KID!?" A girl snapped, flipping her black hair.
"JUST A HUG!" Muka yelled in panic, threw himself at her in a hug, and then found her to be screeching and chasing him off. Thankfully she gave up after a short distance.

With the rallying call to go home Muka still had the human money burning a hole in his pocket. Some sort of strange smell faintly assaulted him and the suited boy found himself staring at a big blue pretzel logo.
"Auntie... Anne's.. pretzels?" There was a short line but reaching the front he merely thrust the bill at the attendant. "Please give me whatever I can get for this money. THANK YOU."
The girl stared. "Well ummm do you want a drink? I mean I can like ummm mix and match things for you?"
"OH YES! Mix and Match!" Could he even eat human food? HE WASN'T SURE. He'd better ask before he try.

[EXITING MALL]Muka loitered and waited for Needle. The food in his arms smelled wonderful but he was pretty sure his impulsive buy had been the wrong decision. The ghoul would meet him back there, right? Finally handing back his pin, the strix stretched in enjoyment of his real body. Human bodies were so strange! A team of attendants took his food bags, but they shook their heads. Human food would not last long and would probably not taste very good to the strix. They let him have it in the meantime. He sat and waited for Needle, frowning as he was once more required to fill out a form. DETH SURVEY! EXPERIENCING HUMANS! (( ALL IN ONE SHOT WOO Man I'm lazy )) She didn't need prompting to hug the other one. It was the chatty sort, her book said; nothing too wonderously important was told to her, but after some nodding and choice 'Oh that is terrible's, the Chatty one gave her a hug for being a good listener and wandered off. Well, okay, that was awesome. Less work for her! Yay. Next up was the supposed Boo Human. Luckily she was good at staring and met the creature's gaze for an extended amount of time until she eventually got bored, rushed forward for a hug and ran off before it could chase her. That lead her right to the Sports Human again, the same massive male with the black-and-yellow jersey, proclaiming his love for the 'TiCats' and that the 'Stamps' win the other night was a load of s**t. Something about taking a quarter back from Hamilton? What the Jack did that mean?
She ended up sitting with them, asking her questions and getting seriously confusing answers in return. After a while she remembered that she had to go spend some monies - and told them this - and as they laughed over how they liked honesty woman, the large one dropped a hat on her head. Apparently it was for her, for being such a 'good sport'. Odd, she didn't know she was a sport...
Well, okay then.
Excusing herself she rushed off to spend the money, immediately finding herself in some sort of book store. It seemed to be having a sale, and after some long, thoroughly distracting looks at the lengths of books and the various topics (and she did find one on the Hamilton Tiger Cats, but after asking if she had enough she found she did not, by a long shot), she ended up with a few knick knacks.
Needle was beaming with pride as she made her way out of the store, holding her bag of spoils against her chest. Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers (On sale for $5.00), a pair of pens ($2 each), a bookmark ($2) and a little journal ($5) gave her apparently 2.60 in change, whatever that meant.
That was when she heard the Professor's call, and scrambled back over to find Muka. THE FIELD TRIP OBSERVATION FORM: Name of student: Needle Human 1 Observed Type: Sports Human Comments After Hugging: Chatty, friendly, wanted to tell me all about this 'football', which kind of sounds painful. Hamilton Tiger Cats? Human 2 Observed Type: Scaredy-Human Comments After Hugging: Called me a lot of strange names when I hugged it. It didn't acknowledge me until then, but it had some sort of device in it's hands that plugged into it's ears... Human 3 Observed Type: Chatty Human Comments After Hugging: I have no idea what it was trying to tell me. Human 4 Observed Type: Boo Human Comments After Hugging: I believe it accepted me, since I did not see it run after me after I hugged it. Human 5 Observed Type: Sports Human Comments After Hugging: Same one as before. It and it's pack gave me a hat.
