Frustrated when the Avariel took off before she could question him, Tarma moved to go after him till she realized that she'd lost a member of her party. Looking around, she settled furious eyes on the pirate, standing talking to an elf, an old man and a behemouth. The soldier blinked; bloody hell the thing was HUGE! It might have distracted her if she didn't have too many other things on her mind to deal with a monster roaming her streets; besides, he didn't look to be rampaging. It would just have to wait.
She looked back at Hiro, eyes narrowing. The bloody idiot was too busy flirting to pay attention to the fact that the kingdom was under threat. Leather creaked as the warrior woman gripped the sword hilt in a strangle hold, imagining it was Captain Hiro's neck, even as she stalked over to remind him of his priorities.

"Hmph."
Aria watched the winged elf take off in a flurry of feathers before cranning her neck to look up at her friend. A smile played about the corners of her mouth, and she reached out to administer a friendly pat to the solid wall of muscle that made up his belly.
"Never mind. You just ignore him Smiley. No one's going to want to kill you, and if they try I'll just..."
She found herself interupted by the appearance of a man in a coat, with a hat set on his head at a funny angle and a bottle of rum in one hand. The elf's nose twitched in displeasure. The bottle explained the smell of him; he must have been half-toasted. His words baffled her. Love? The fellow must indeed be drunk. She kept her expression neutral as she turned to look at him fully, glass beads in her hair clicking with the movement.
"You must have me confused with someone else."
Casting her eyes over his shoulder, she arched an eyebrow at the sight of the sword-weilding female arrowing towards them, cloak flaring dramaticaly. The expression on the woman's face was rather scary, and she made a striking threat that the weapons she carried couldn't have matched; Aria was impressed. She'd never managed to get her features to be that intimidating. Maybe the woman could give her pointers.
"Um, she's not with you, is she? Because if she is, and if I were you, I'd run."

She didn't give him a chance to argue.
Snatching the all-but-empty rum bottle out of his hand, Tarma drew her arm back and coshed him solidly over the head with it. The glass shattered, and the pirate slumped to the ground in a semi-unconscious state. Ignoring his groan, the Captain leveled a stony gaze on the group as though daring them to protest.
Wordlessly, she reached down to take a sturdy grip of the back of the pirates coat, shifting till she thought she could manage his not-unsignificant weight; he'd only slow her down slightly. Tarma thought dryly that she almost liked him like this; at least when unconsious he was cooperative.
Satisfied, she strode back towards where the bard waited at the clock tower door, dragging Hiro's body along the bumpy cobblestones. If he had bruises tomorrow, it was none of her concern. She had a duty to fulfill, and she'd be damned if this unscruplous b*****d would get in the way of that.

The captain went out like a light, dropped like a stone, was dragged like a sack of potatos. This was a brutal example of police brutality, however the only 100% sure way of getting a pirate to cooperate. It wasnt the first time he'd had a bottle broken on his head. He mumbled slurred profanities in his semi concious state, while being dragged to the clock tower.

Smiley growed and put his wepon away, the beast took a deep breath and let out what would best be described as a deep sigh. He watched the strange man approach and get clobbered and dragged off. The troll reasoned that the man must have been a bad pet that needed to be punished. He shrugged it off looking back up to the clock tower's face while giving the back of his loin cloth a good scraching.

Damien lands on the roof again and looks back down at the ground to watch the pirate get clocked over the head. "Pawns in the game of life, thats all they are. Time to face a knight. But could I be wrong about these three? No matter I will find otu soon enough." He said as he walked back inside.

Clavian watched the birdman take to the skies again, before glancing at the small congregation. Obviously something was going on, but what? The troll's sigh masked his own; it was going to get complicated again, he could feel it. The smash and tinkle of broken glass followed by the soft thump of a body hitting the cobblestones pulled him out of his reverie, and swiftly the hood was back over his head, his eye hidden once more in shadow. Turning to Aria, he grinned.
"So this happens a lot here, then?"

Aria shook her head in a mixture of disbelief and admiration as the woman dressed like a Lord biffed the obnoxious drunk fellow over the head, watched her drag his limp form off. Humans were bizzare creatures sometimes, but damn that woman had balls. With a bemused smile on her features, the elf looked at Clavian with a shrug.
"I wouldn't know, I've never been here before...but if this is how people conduct themselves, I might just decide to stay awhile."
She watched the woman head to the clock tower, and wondered if the group was following the Avariel. Perhaps there was a business oportunity about to present itself. Following that train of thought, she began making calculations in a seperate compartment of her mind while continuing the conversation. Casually, she flicked her hand in their direction to indicate who she meant.
"What do you suppose that lot are up to?"

Clavian watched the scene in front of him unfold with mild interest before replying to Aria. It wasn't often you saw a pirate being press-ganged; normally, it was the other way round...
"No idea... but the birdman seems to be causing some interest with the local authorities, by the looks of things."
He turned to look past the mobile green mountain in front of him, back down the street they'd come up

"Hm."
Considering her options, the elf danced her fingers lightly over her bow before unslinging it from her shoulder. Her gaze followed the swordswoman as she approached the foot of the clock tower, flickered up to frown at where the Avariel waited at the summit. Business to be conducted indeed.
"I smell a job...you wont mind keeping an eye on Smiley for me, will you? Ta very much!"
Grinning at Clavian, the offered a cheeky salute and bounded off before he could offer a word in protest. Fleet steps got her level with the unconcious pirate's form, and she stepped over him lightly to offer the woman dragging him a friendly smile.
"Morning m'lady. That was a fine example of quick, decisive leadership back there...ah, let me give you a hand with him..."
Aria took a hold of the ruffian's collar on the opposite side to aide in the relocation process, keeping pace without breaking stride in her sales pitch.
"And I can see you're a few men short of a full contingent here. Seems to me that if I were after a fellow who could take to the skies, I'd be looking for some long-range support for my ground troops."
Her smile brightened a fraction, and she tapped her fingers against her bow. She'd laid the groundwork. Now to prop the deal on the table.
"That's me, m'lady. And I've got Smiley back there, and...well, you saw him. Mighty reasonable prices too, for the services we're offering. Mayhaps you'd like to hire us on?"

The Captain faced the elven female who'd accosted her, annoyance plain on her features as she looked her over. If it wasn't one form of distraction, it was another. Couldn't these people see she was on a mission? Her frustration translated to stiffness, and her tone was cold.
"It's Captain, not Lady. The King's Legion does not need, nor does it hire, mercenaries. Move along citizen, I've official business to conduct here."
Reaching the tower door, she dropped the groggy pirate and stepped over him to close her hand over the handle. A quick jiggle proved it locked, and the curse the swordswoman uttered was highly inapproapriate for a lady. She whirled to glare over the crowds, raising her voice.
"Does anyone know where to find the clock keeper?"

Hardly deterred by the out-of-hand dismissal, Aria smirked to herself as the aggitated Captain ran up against another road block. The elf reached under her curtain of honey locks under the pretense of rubbing her neck and pulled out a thin, oddly twisted piece of metal. Palming it, she concealed it from view and gave the swordswoman a slight bow.
"Allow me, Captain. Sometimes these things just need a little wigglin'..."
Stepping forward, she bent over the lock and ran her hands over it, blocking the law-woman's view with her body as she worked. In the blink of an eye, Aria straightened, crossing her arms and shifting to one side as the door creaked open willingly. The two females stood looking at the entrance in silence for a long moment.
Running her tongue over her teeth, the elf leaned her head closer to the Captain's, hearing the deal practicaly close itself with a pretty little 'cha-ching'.
"Reasonable prices, as I mentioned."

The soldier slid a glance at the elf, her expression blank, giving no clue to her reaction. Slowly, she stepped forward, bent to examine the lock. It HAD been locked. Either the girl had the Gift, or...
The scrape along the keyhole's edge was slight, bearly noticable. A knowing smirk curved her lips at the discovery, but the expression was gone when she turned to face the woman again, replaced by that same unreadable neutrality. Oh, the merc was good, no doubt of it. And having the devil on your side was better than having him on the side of the enemy.
While the idea of having scavenging mercenary filth on the payroll galled her, in this instance, they might prove useful. Tarma considered a moment more, then nodded grudgingly, tugging the purse hanging at her belt free and tossing it at the elven woman.
"There's your up-front retainer. We'll discuss the terms of your contract later. Get your freakishly large companion, and remember to do as I tell you."
With that, the Captain of the Legion gathered a fistful of the pirates jacket and began to haul him inside, up the stairs to meet their foe.

Clavian hadn't even had time to process the one-sided conversation with the elf before she was off in a flash. ...You wont mind keeping an eye on Smiley for me, will you?...
He glanced once at his now-comrade, who was staring blankly at the dark doorway which his pet and the self-proclaimed Captian had entered. Shrugging, Clavian pushed his hood back, folded his arms and leaned casually against Smiley.
"Well, I guess we wait here, then..."
