"No" she sceamed. Since he hadn't grabbed her, nothing stopped her from darting backwards. She could feel the needle brush against her skin as the tumbled back. Hopefully as the fell he would loose his syringe So fair she was luck and t hadn't penetrated the skins. In her mind she begged for someone to come and save her as she franticly searched for her pepper spray. She wanted to cry for help but all that came out, even if muffled where blood curtailing screams.

Anguis could feel it. It was faint at first but peaked his curiosity. It was such an intense emotion, raw fear and desperation, it drew him in like a moth to a flame. He couldn't help taking notice of it's call. He moved swiftly weaving through the pedestrians unnoticed and was soon met with the screams of a woman that made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. Then he finally came upon the scene.
The first thing he noticed as he stepped into the alley was of course the woman. He looked down at her for a moment as she was scrambling through her things. Couldn't she just get up and run? Perhaps fear was getting the best of her and she was being irrational now? Ah, there was nothing quite like fear. He didn't look like a hero and that was because he wasn't anything of the like. He looked up from her to see a man. He smirked, "It's too busy and she's too noisy. It attracts attention," he stated, "Fancy meeting you here, Doctor? I've heard rumors about you." He appeared to have no interest in the woman. However, if this woman wasn't stupid, she should realize that he was creating an opening for her to run away.

She moved. She was faster than the others, or maybe just sober and not a complete idiot. Either way his needle only scratched past her arm, no where near good enough for it's intent. And to make things worse she was screaming bloody murder. Which was almost appropriate since this was not a "bloody" murder. People would come soon to see what was happening, no matter what screaming like that would bring attention. And someone already showed up who seemed to allude to knowing of him. Impossible, he left no witnesses right? Well, maybe the odd unseen bystander, but he could never be identified. "You don't understand! She's having an episode and needs this medicine! She's gets manic without her doses!" He had a way about him that said he was telling the truth. Despite the obviously skeptical nature of the claim.

Anguis lifted an eyebrow to the man, "My apologies sir, I guess I was mistaken," he said in a sincere manner. The woman gave off such a genuine fear, he found it to be odd that hysteria was the one behind this. However, as of now, he couldn't question the situation that he may have actually misread. An actual criminal attempt would have been more interesting though. He didn't normally help people but he walked right into this one so he might as well act like he cared. "Here, let me help you up," he said bending down a bit and extending a hand to the woman. He was prepared for the woman to resist, after all how could this hysterical woman trust a stranger, especially a shady one like himself?

“He is lying!!” She said almost yelling. Wide blue eyes stared at the strange man is extended a hand. Quickly she grabbed his hand and darted behind him. Tory was trembling as her fingers crawled into the back of his coat. “I beg you, please help me.” She whispered into his back. Not thinking it was wise to hang around Tory turned and started running down the alleyway. Fear itself seemed to be making it hard to breathe. She let out a few sharp gasps as her feet pounded the pavement. The occasional sound splashing water echoing off the walls. "He is lying.. lying.." She seemed to rant as she worked on getting away from the two of them.

"Damn, she's running off! She needs her medicine or she'll be manic and paranoid until she gets it!" He ran off after her, seemingly like a doctor concerned for his psychotic patient. But inside only one thing sounded. Equilibrium. Balance must be brought. Life for Death, and Death for Life. The Doctor would not be denied his kill. Once word got out of the attempt he would have to wait, and it meant a debt of life he must pay. The people, unsure of what to do, stood by in confusion. A woman screaming about lies, and a doctor chasing her with what he called medicine. Such a thing could hardly be judged on it's face alone. After all, he was a doctor.

The Edge :
Most hunters are nothing more and mere humans, but a few have an edge to their fight. This edge isn’t supernatural nor can it trump any supernatural ability but it help to give a slight hand up in the fight against the monsters that go bump in the dark.
Be Calm- This ability is just as it sounds. She radiates inner calm inhibiting drastic action and slowing down reaction times, while also stifling anger, relieving fear and lessening senses of urgency.( It can’t brain wash or make a person do something against their will. But it can calm down a group of screaming humans long enough to get business taken care of. )
Insinuate - By treating the supernatural as people, rather than monsters the she can upset and strain their foes, making it harder for the opponents to focus on subsequent attacks.( It’s kinda like having a really good reputation and it makes you less likely of a target. But at the same time the monsters will come to you when they are backed in a corner. )
Potent Blood- there is something about her blood that makes her heal just a little faster than normal. This also means if a vampire feeds off her, they will get more from her blood than other humans. It makes this power a double edge sword.
Amanda's partner shot a few rounds to get the vampires attention. Amanda went running down the alley as she pulled out her gun. The vampire drop the girl and took off down and around the corner. Amanda's partner called for backup as he followed her down the alley. They were both trained police officers and in good shape. But Amanda prided herself on not only be in good shape but for being fast as well. Echoes of splashes and rattling cans followed in their wake. They were quickly losing sight of the monster that they were after.
She swore softly under her breath as she tried to push yourself that much harder. Zigzagging through crowded streets and into alleyways, she soon lost her perpetrator. To her surprise she ended up in a new alley with a few familiar faces. There was the man she had been talking with earlier that evening. And there was a woman and the doctor that she saw collide in the street. Her gun was already in her hands as she listened to what was going on. The woman was yelling hysterically about the man lying.
Amanda raised a brow as she took in the scene. "Everyone freeze." She yelled moving the badge from her belt and raising a high in the air. Her partner came around the corner shortly after she did. He stayed behind Amanda as he gripped his gun with both hands.

Anguis was a bit startled when the woman quickly took his hand then hid behind him. He was able to catch what she had whispered but before he could react, she just ran away. He didn't know which one to believe, the man or the woman? He was beginning to regret stepping in like he did. He watched as man went ahead and ran after her. He didn't have enough facts to act upon and he already found that this was an opportune moment to simply slip away as if nothing happened. Unfortunately, something decided to prevent him from doing so. He lifted up his hands in a form of yield as his eyes fixed on the policegirl he had talked to moments ago. He was intrigued as to why she already had her gun drawn. Was there a threat nearby? That would liven things up. Her partner also had his gun drawn.

"It's alright! I'm a Doctor! She's a patient that's off her medication! It makes her hysterical and paranoid! I need to administer this medicine to calm her down!" The police were the last thing he needed. All he could hope for was that they fell for his ruse. If not, then he would have only one option. Escape. Equilibrium would have to wait, an annoying setback but possibly a necessary one. The syringe was still held firmly in his hand, covering the fact that it was full only of air and not medicine.

"Please believe me! I just met him tonight. I run my own labs, I am working on some historical stuff.. Dose that dose that sound like hysterical person? He is trying to force a needle into my arm!" Her heart was pounding a million miles a minute. Seeing the cops she should have been happy. But some out it didn't really ease her fears. She just wanted to go home now. Hide in her lab and ask like this never happened. Hell, maybe never set foot in this place again. She looked back to the first man. "Please... I'm telling you the truth!" Please believe me, please!"

Amanda frowned as she listened to everyone speaking. The woman was clearly upset over something. She thought back to the first time she saw the doctor and the woman together. Frustrated eyes fell on the doctor as she put her badge back onto her belt and motioned for her partner to start looking around. They were still looking for a vampire on the loose. "Didn't I see you two just run into each other on the street earlier tonight?" Amanda asked with suspicion. She took a few steps closer to the girl as her partner started making his way down the alley. "I want to see this shot you need to give her." She added. If it was legitimate then there should be something clearly marking it. At no point as she forgotten about Anguis being there.

It looked like it was over. He might have been able to get away with the meeting today bit, but there was no way to disguise an empty syringe as something else. He had to get out. Now. Equilibrium would have to wait, for if there was no one to bring it it would be denied constantly, not simply tonight. "Of course officer. Here...take a look!" The Doctor hurled the syringe at her before sprinting in the opposite direction. Escape was all that mattered right now, and he would escape to bring Equilibrium, no matter what. He quickly got off the street and ran through alleys in an attempt to lose them, knowing they wouldn't be far behind.
Anguis watched quietly was the scene continued to unfold before him. The woman was looking at him as if she was expecting him to save her. He didn't understand why, desperation perhaps? Her emotions were so genuine. He looked back to the police girl as she directed her attention to the man. A smile crept to his face when he saw the doctor suddenly run off. So he wasn't wrong after all. That was good. He hated being wrong. He decided that he would let the police girl take care of "Mr. Night Surgeon". He turned his attention back to the terrified woman. He walked up to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. His expression was neutral but this was as close as he was going to get to compassion, "You're okay now," he stated reassuringly.

For some odd reason she found herself trying to dodge the needle as he threw it as her. She knew it wouldn't even hit her. As he took off running, she took chase. Her partner was in close prosuit. "You under arrest!" She yelled as she tried to catch up with the doctor. The crowlds of people only hendered her. But at the same time, he would have problems too. The worse part was trying to make sure he didn't blind in. "Call it in" she shouted to her partner as she worked to find him.
"Only if you catch me!" The Doctor yelled back with a hint of madness in his voice. They wouldn't catch him, they couldn't. He wouldn't allow it, and he still had the ace up his sleeve. It was time to use it. The Doctor would need to lay low for a while, denying Equilibrium even further, but it would be done. Quickly rounding a corner he released the ace. If his pursuers came down the same alley all they would see is a fairly confused older, bearded man in an identical outfit. The man looked on down the alley, as if some weird thing happened down there.
