Rosie turned her head to watch him as he moved away from her with a curious expression. Her expression fell, however, when he placed his hand over the fire alarm. For a moment, she felt as though she should be worried. She remembered the one woman saying something about water being bad for her. But with her medication she had to take at the lab, water didn't hurt her. It hadn't crossed her mind yet that the water would be bad for her now that the medication was wearing off. As the sprinklers went off, the girl jumped as the cold water drenched her. Then her expression grew uncomfortable as she began to feel... odd. It didn't hurt, but she was having a harder time keeping her skin from sliding down. She hadn't had that problem before. When she looked down to look at her arms, her eyes widened as she watched her dress begin to melt away from her. Her shoes turning into a flat inky puddle under her. When her hair began to melt away, she began to panic. Instinctively, she moved to back up quickly. Unable to move her now puddled feet though, she only succeeded in falling backwards again. She shrieked when she realized that she was having an increasingly difficult time keeping herself in her human state. Rosie gave the man one quick, terrified look, then fully shifted into her inky state. Still panicking, the black mass tried to dive away and down the hall. It didn't dive so much as spill into a long trail that moved down the hall. Very easy to catch up to... especially with every large puddle of water or drop of water separating the black liquid into halves.

"So I guess I was correct in saying you are not what you pretend to be." Edmond mocked as the water soaked him. He turned off the alarm and looked at the sprinklers that were now letting up but still generally going. He moved into his room grabbing several random cloths which he used to cover the sprinklers all around the now rather spread out girl. Then, knowing no more water would hit her he stood and waited. He had proven his point, if he called you out on something, it was rare he would be wrong. Next time maybe she would not lie. Less suffering. "I would have assumed you try to stop me when I grab the alarm but you didn't? why?"

The inky black mass lay spread out on the hallway floor. It was only after the sprinklers stopped completely that it tried to move again. Try being the key word. With the carpet soaked with water, and chunks of the ink separated from itself, it took a long few minutes before the mass began to take shape again. The center of the black mass rose up off of the ground partially. Creating an inky arch over the floor. It rose up until there was no more ink to rise upwards. The top of the mass grew round, and began moving back and forth, looking at the chunks of ink that were separated from it. The “head” of the creature then turned back towards the Count for a moment. ”I..... I didn't know that would happen to me....” she replied. Tears in her voice. ”If I did, I would have ran away.”

"So do you want to tell me what you are doing here now or should I make it rain again?" Edmond asked. He did not feel bad about his choice. He rarely did. He knew it was probably cruel but when a creature he barely understands moves towards the last secure base he has away from his office he gets defensive. In his defense he got violent. No one should ever assume he is bluffing because odds are, he is not.

"No!" the creature cried. It was afraid that if it became wet again, she wouldn't be able to pull herself back together at all. "I... I just wanted a clean place to sleep for a while. And I don't have any money to buy food so..." she began, then slank back a bit. ".... so I thought I'd steal some from other people's rooms that were empty." she said, actually sounding a little ashamed of that fact.

"Well today you chose a bad place to steal from. Look, the room across the hall is empty, you can sleep there. As for food, steal from room 324. That b*****d is loud and fat. That normally means he has extra food around." Edmond said before returning to his room. His computer beeped and he looked at the screen, the search for snipers had been completed. But he did not feel his talk to the girl was done just because he walked away. So he did not yet look.

The inky mass watched the man walk away, then hesitated on the floor before trying to move again. She was still having difficulty moving, and he would probably come back out before she had finished pulling herself together. Or someone would anyway. She didn't know much about sprinklers, but she imagined there was one in every hall and room of the building. She also imagined that people did not like being soaked for no reason. Carefully, she shifted her inky form towards a clump of ink to try and pull herself back together. She managed to get one mass, found her leg. She moved a little quicker over to another mass, and found an arm.

Edmond poked his head back out again. "So do you want a towel or something? I don't imagine that is very easy. Pulling yourself back together..." Edmond asked as he held out a towel. He still did not feel bad about his choice. People should know their limits, now she knew her's.

Nine1122 Interesting to see characters who don't instantly feel sorry for Rosie. In... whichever form she is in. ^^ Rosie turned her 'head' around to look at the man. The round blob tilted towards the towel, then back towards his face. "It..... it won't absorb me up to... will it?" she asked. This had never happened to her before, and she honestly wasn't sure what could happen to her now that she was in such a state.

innocent little Rosie Ehh, the Count only feels bad for people he harms for no reason, and people he cares about. Rosie lied to him, he considers it karma. "Good point... I have a hair dryer but the cord wouldn't get out to here. I have certain arrows to get rid of the water but it would freeze you as well. I will see about the hair dryer." Edmond moved back into his room and got his hair dryer from the bathroom. He only had one because he needed his hair to remain dry but he had to wash it as well. If he put the mask on over his wet hair it tended to ruin the mask. He then found an extension cord and used it to get the hair dryer out to the hallway. Then he turned it on and pointed it towards rosie. It was not nearly as loud as it could have been. "Is this helping at all?"

Rosie didn't reply at first. The inky mass simply kept still as the hot air moved over it. A moment later, one of the separated blobs of ink began to move. "Y... yeah." she replied uneasily. "I can kinda move now." She waited another long moment, then the separated masses of ink began to move towards her. Soon the mass became whole again, and she shifted around a bit to test and see how her mobility was again.

Once she was moving again edmond put away his blow dryer. Then he returned to the hallway and looked at her. "So lesson learned, don't lie to a man in a mask, correct?" The Count said as he looked down the opposite direction of the hallway. He was curious as to what the list said but had not checked it. He had priorities and the living ones that show up at his door were rather high on the list.

innocent little Rosie The inky mass turned it's head back up towards the Count, then gently shook in a "yes" motion. "Okay... I just didn't want you to try and attack me or run away like the people in the other building did..." she said. Then the black mass moved upwards, and slowly began to transform back into the form of the little girl. Chunks of her hair were gone, looking as though she'd tried to give herself a haircut.

"What part of a man in a mask makes you think he would run. I have faced spies, criminals, a werewolf, and now you. Honestly, your not as scary as the other things in this world." The Count said. It was true, something about a little girl made of ink was just not scary. Now, depending on the level of control over the ink, it could be. But the girl clearly did not have the best control.

"Well..." Rosie began, looking up at him. "The Inque lady is bad, and I wasn't supposed to show my powers around people in costumes." she said. Then she moved to stand up. Wobbly compared to before, but she managed to get back onto her feet soon enough.
