He was alive?
"What the hell were you doing?!" Jeong's voice was sharp and tense, clearly angry at feeling tricked. Hwan hadn't meant to do this, a voice nagged at his mind, but it wasn't easy to accept the embarrassment of overreacting. Holding his brother tight, it wasn't clear if Jeong was attempting to punish him by squeezing him harder to inflict pain or just out of sheer emotion. His brain whizzed with many thoughts and it took the sound of the third voice to snap him out of merely sitting there for the rest of the test.
"Wait Laris-" Rambling on faster than he could respond, the blonde was wiping away tears and leaving in a hurry. Feeling terrible that they'd scared her, or rather everyone had scared each other, Jeong winced at the weak smile she shared before disappearing into the trees. It was a good thing she was going into the garrison where she would be safe from the kind of fear and panic they'd just inflicted on her. The throb in his chest returned at this thought but he pushed it away and focused on standing.
"Don't do that again. We'll talk more about this later." Stern and frustrated, Jeong shot his brother a look of mixed emotions. He was still angry but also knew he couldn't yell at him when it'd been an accident. Still they needed to be more careful during the classes and take the titans seriously. Jeong wanted Hwan and him to have fun but not at the expense of their lives in the future. Being overcome with fear and loss of the most important person in his life a minute ago had reminded him that this was not a summer camp- this was going to be the rest of their lives.
"Finish the course and then look for Larisa. We need to check on her again." With that, he was off in the woods looking to find a titan to vent against.
Yamashii Sorry you couldn't roll last time, hope this helps free Hwan back up again. KitsuneAura If we finish before the week is up do you want to RP them meeting up after? Or do it as a PRP for 'after class'? Or should we skip that?

"Risa, wait, I'm sor-" Blonde loops trailed in the air as Larisa took off at full speed. She was obviously embarrassed and probably still upset. Hwan winced as his brother held him a little tighter to teach him a lesson no doubt but did not protest. Jeong was scared, not angry, and it was honestly his fault. Pulling himself to his feet, he nodded at his mirror's request. After they'd finished the lesson, he'd find Larisa again to apologize.
"Jeong, I'm sorry. I really am trying. I'm taking this serious, I'm just not as good as I thought I'd be." It was a hard confession to make, to admit that his skills were dismal and the talents he'd thought he'd had were proving to be jokes but he couldn't give up here.
Two dear friends slipped away into the trees and he watched with a dull ache of guilt in his chest before triggering his cables as well. He had a lot of work to do to make sure this never happened again. He got a good slash in on his next titan but the second hit wasn't hard enough. Heaving out a sigh, Hwan tried to push the latest events out of his mind to concentrate. This looked like it'd be good practice handling turbulent emotions without losing technique.

He'd misjudged the angle and Hwan found himself missing the next target by a couple feet. Using a hand, he managed to push himself away from colliding with a tree and felt a surge of triumph flood through his body until he realized, wasn't that hand supposed to be holding something?
"Walls damn it." His second blade stuck out of the cutout's neck like a pincushion.

"Dammit!" It was hard to calm his adrenaline rush and Jeong over shot his target. Swaying slightly in the wind, the titan cut out taunted him with an eerie smile. It was as if it knew about the scare he'd gotten only minutes ago. Irritated, Jeong swung back into the tree and tried to collect his bearings. This was supposed to be the class he and Hwan excelled at and yet he was finding it harder than he'd expected.
No, push away those thoughts. Hwan was going into the scouts no matter if they were skilled or not. So it wasn't a matter of compatibility but rather persistence. If it didn't come naturally then he would have to learn his mastery of this craft.

Hwan had a lot weighing on his shoulders. His pride and dream to journey beyond these walls, his brother's reluctant acceptance of said goal, Larisa drifting further and further away from each screw up and the image of Melina breezing through this in half the time when she finally joined. It was all just too much and he felt his body heat up and his eyes scanned the trees before locking onto a target between two. Soaring through it, he rotated his body to smoothly slide through before a quick burst of gas sent him straight upwards and his knives pierced through the nape of the cutout. It wasn't a clean entry nor a very clever execution but it was a solid kill and he'd take it.
"Gotta watch my momentum." He murmured to himself, trying to keep stock of what had worked and what hadn't so far.

It felt like a cheap shot to go back and hit the target he'd just missed but he did so anyway, trying to practice his form. His right hand seemed to hit sturdier while his left wasn't quite connecting right. Frowning, he attached his cables to the cut out to examine the marks he'd left. His theory behind the cuts was sound, judging by how one of the marks was perfectly aligned. It was his body that needed to step up to the next level and hit at that precision every time.
'She would've been next...' Brown eyes darkened as he recalled Larisa fallen on the ground. Her legs had been paralyzed in fear as she'd screamed. It had been devastating to think he'd lost Hwan. It would've hurt even worse to arrive to the titan eating his other friend as well.
With a deep breath, off again he went; heart and mind racing.

"Haaaaaah!" His blood was really pumping now and things were starting to feel a little more natural. All those screw ups were helping him see what he'd done wrong to try something different. Flying through the trees, he weaved through them carefully instead of trying any fancy tricks. He'd gotten too ahead of himself trying to show off and Jeong was right, he needed to play it simple and serious.
A cutout loomed over him and the image of Larisa on the ground- the feeling of Jeong grasping at him frantically- he would not relive those moments and with a half crazed yell, Hwan drove his blades into the nape and sliced clean through with one. He could do this, he had the drive and he had the power.
His heart felt raw and exposed but somehow, he'd never been more exhilarated.

"C'mon!" Flying through the trees, Jeong struggled to find another target to attack. He'd spotted one a second ago but then also spotted another trainee approaching it. He couldn't begrudge them for claiming it when this place was such a maze but it sucked to feel so slow. Continuing on, the Korean kept his pace at a responsible speed. He'd been in here a while and hoped that he wouldn't run out of gas by the time he was ready to leave. It would be quite a walk to go back on foot.

"Dammit!" Another swing and another failure. The titan wobbled from the air current from his attack but he hadn't hit the gas on his 3DMG correctly and missed. It was hard for the man to accept his mistakes when he was doing everything almost perfect save for one little step. It was even harder because that step kept changing so it wasn't an easy fix for him to simply concentrate on it. Concluding that he needed to just take a moment to calm down- maybe he was still jerky from the incident- Jeong perched on a tree and looked at the sky.

Alright, she just needed to focus on doing this right. Just get training over and done with so she'd be free to find a perch to sulk in. Ugh, thinking of it like that always made her feel worse. Letting out a sigh, Larisa shifted her thoughts back to attacking. She'd gotten good hits in before, so she knew she could, she just had to remember how she'd done it. Unbidden her memory jumped to Jeong slashing through to save Hwan while she'd stood frozen, and her grip on her blades tightened. Just ahead, the titan loomed closer and closer, and as the window to attack approached, she grit her teeth and went for it.
A perfect hit. She could have saved him too if she hadn't been so scared. If he'd even needed saving.

This wasn't helping. He needed a drink.
'Wait, there!' Sharp eyes as ever, Jeong whipped his head around to spot an open target. Zeroing in with momentum, he failed to notice a dark blob hanging from one of the tree he passed. He also failed to notice himself bump it with the edge of his blade and it fall to the ground.
He did notice when suddenly a swarm of angry bees surrounded him as his raised his arms to slice at the titan's neck.

If he shifted his weight while also releasing the cables, he would fly just so and land-
"Take that!" Two blades dug into the cutout with ease and Hwan grinned at his victory. He was starting to find his groove, maybe he was a natural at this after all! Those first few runs had just been poor thanks to his uneasiness with all these trees. But with these blades in hand, what could wood scare him?

"Hrahhh!" Jeong couldn't take it anymore and began to swing his blades wildly as he flew through the air. It was completely illogical but his body was covered in stings now and the pain was beginning to overload his brain. Suddenly he felt his body collide with something in his blind panic and froze. Wait, what?
Somehow he'd flown straight into a titan cut out and nicked the neck area with his blades. It was terrible form and barely counted but the odds were incredible. Ugh what was he doing? Remembering that he'd meant to calm down and focus, Jeong shook himself free from being embedded in the cut out and flew over to a tree to regroup. Only one more titan to go and then he could go soak in some aloe.
