Dr. H's voice sounded slightly distracted as he came back on over the intercom, "It seems the heightened shield has a...ah, an adverse effect on your equipment. The readouts show the degradation is slowed by moving, so no worries! Just thought I'd give you a bit of a head's up. As you were." Was the gym getting... warmer?The OOC Update: lack of character action will have a fairly DIRE effect after 24 hours. Rules: PVP is ON - only melee attacks are available Pendants - you may remove them - you may give them away - if you remove them you will lose 10 hp per turn ~ it also provides your character with a wonderful "I am being burned alive" sensation <3 - from this point on, those who land the killing blow will get first dibs on pendant looting,Command Users - your pendant is connected to only one other person, listed below - any commands issued must be spoken out loud where the other can hear you FEAR Holders: - you pendant is connected to only one other person listed below - when you receive a command, roll 1-6 sided dice in your reply. If you roll a 2 or a 3, the command fails and your character is free to ignore it - If you roll a 1, your pendant turns red, and the command pendant turns blue. This means that your positions have now switched.- you only need to follow verbal commands, your character is not a mind reader, so ambiguous commands are left to interpretation - if you are commanded to attack another player, roll 3-6 sided dice. The first die will determine if the command works or fails.  Red represents those who have a Command pendant, blue represents the FEAR pendant they're connected to. (( Waiting on alliisara's response to the attack on pg. 27 before Theta Nine attacks further. ))
As he sidestepped out of the path of Eta Twelve's fist, Theta Nine took the opportunity to study his latest attacker, not without some envy. In contrast to her thoughts, he was wondering how she managed to make it through all these days on the island with so few injuries. She must have done something right. Unlike him. He wanted to laugh, but couldn't quite. He snuck a glance across at Fedora, his heart heavy. Even if he and she both managed to survive their current opponents -- and there was no great likelihood of that either -- how would they manage to defeat everyone in this shield?
Just then, Dr. H's voice came over the intercom. He rolled his eyes, but couldn't quite fight the notion that the gym seemed to be getting warmer. Maybe the mysterious doctor will just put all of them out of their misery by blowing up the place, who knows.

[Before is accidentally attacking himself x.x]
The banter between Door and Diner seemed to have taken a turn for the personal. And receiving no encouragement or further instruction from Door or Tonight, Before decided to patiently for his booterangs to return. It was during this "quiet time" that his injuries were reminding him of their presence, not to mention the same moment Dr. H's voice spoke out over the intercom. His head snapped up towards the speakers and he immediately regretted the abrupt action. It sent his vision swimming and made him want to throw up. Oh ********, please don't throw up, self. You wouldn't be able to take your mask off to clean up your vomit. Also, you're very likely to puke out your own guts, given your injuries.
Which he'd been aggravating with all that booterang throwing. Groaning, he wondered what Dr. H meant about the equipment degrading and for reasons unknown and not likely to make sense to anyone but Before, he removed a piece of his armor (a kneepad) and threw it in the air. Hey, if he had fewer things to degrade isn't that a good thing?
How has he survived this long? Oh. Right. His fellow Betas. And with him the only one left alive he wasn't going to last long.

((See roll in next post.)) Theta IX hit her squarely, and Eta VII felt her strength flagging. She wasn't going to be able to keep this up. She dodged backwards, doing her best to stay out of his reach, hoping one of the other members of their little group would be able to come to her rescue. But the rest of them were busy, or falling, or... She suddenly saw Delta I fall, and cried out, "No!" The only real friend she'd made here. There wasn't anything she could do, though, as she kept backing up from Theta IX. She saw the child from before hit Delta I, knew her friend was dead, and almost gave up right then. It was all she could do to keep stumbling back. She'd thought maybe, just maybe, she could escape and give Delta I that much at least. That she'd succeeded in getting Eta VII out. But not even that was ultimately allowed her. She heard the command - "Take off your pendant and give it to Delta IV" - and this time it registered. Without any control, she pulled off her new pendant, and the fierce burning sensation overcame her again. Somehow, even as weak as she was, her body kept moving through it. She found herself next to Delta IV, on her hands and knees, and handed over the blue pendant before collapsing to the floor. As the fiery energy in the room overcame her, her last thought was, I'm sorry, Delta I. I tried, I really did, but... She didn't even get to finish it before darkness closed in around her. ((Eta 7 current health: 7 - 10 = 0 HP Eta 7 exiting to Death Lounge))

As Eta Seven backed away from him, Theta Nine was dimly aware of a command involving Delta Four, but that couldn't be right. Fedora was holding a command pendant and not a blue pendant. She should be the one giving orders.
No matter. He took a hard swing at Eta Twelve. He had to slow her down for his partner, he had to.
Weapon: melee
Damage to Eta Twelve: 6
Theta Nine's HP: 8

[Beta 4 is attacking himself]
The kneepad shot up into the air from Before's throw. Problem was, he'd thrown it directly upwards so when gravity regained control of the piece of armor, it fell straight back down, right on his helmet. "Ow! ******** s**t, what the ********> :CCCCCC Oh, oh s**t, why was everything getting dark? And was it just him or was getting warmer? Even though he was already in his socks (blue too? Why was he not surprised. And now he's wondering if his underwear was the same color), it was still uncomfortable. Also he was now assymetrical and decided to remove the other kneepad.

Fedora took the pendant, rather surprised, clutching it with a hand. She didn't put it on yet; she merely stared at it, stunned that her opponent would resort to such a trick.
Was it a trick?
She stared at the other, trying to discern if it was or not.
She bent down again, picking up the bootarangs and throwing them back towards Before. She hoped he'd help one last time, where it counted. She didn't trust her opponent.

Before's vision was terrible. After the kneepad conking him on the head, his vision got worse. So much so that when Door tossed him the boots-erm, his Booterangs returned, he failed to see them approach until they were right in his face.
...
Right on his face as the soles smacked right into his gas mask. He toppled over backwards, winded, dizzy and in no condition to be sitting up (let alone throwing things at anyone). Except when the boots hit him, the impact caused him to toss the knee-pad he'd been holding into the air.
"Betrayed by my own Booterangs. Beautiful," he rasped, certain the trickle of blood from his nose meant one more thing was broken. "Even my armor acts like a Bad Person." He would have laughed but every word he'd spoken felt like white-hot pokers being shoved into his sides and lungs. He was pretty sure laughing would be a Bad Idea.

[XII is attacking G5] ((Sorry, I know I keep forgetting to add this. Dx)) XII cried. Very quietly. She didn't even notice until she realized her face was wet and itchy from tears. Frustration ebbed at not being able to wipe them away. Everyone was dying so quickly now. Most of them didn't deserve to die, at least not like this. But as she saw G5 deliver the death blow to D1, XII acted on instinct. She turned away from Theta 9 and ran towards D1 to render some kind of aid, even though she knew it was already too late. But it was an action that made sense to her: defend your comrades. She hadn't known D1 for more than a moment, but D1 had never commanded XII to do anything. XII appreciated that, more than she'd ever be able to tell D1 now. XII's aim never seemed any good, but this time her aim was perfect. The force of her punch as it connected with G5 made her arm twitch. When she pulled back, she realized her opponent had stopped moving. XII didn't bother to check for any signs of life. She knew what she had done. Instead, she bent down and retrieved G5's pendants. "I'm sorry," she whispered. Then she turned her attention back to T9... and finally noticed that E7 was now gone, too. Weapon: Melee Damage to Gamma Five: 3 - death(?) Eta XII HP: 23 HP ((Will edit later if I'm off on what's been going on, lol. Can't stay on long enough to read through everything right now, sorry. Dx))

"No!!!! No, no, no!!!!!!" Z2 yelled as he watched X2 deliver the final blow to G5.... it was over. He couldn't save her. The one person he was trying to protect... not her, not himself, not anyone. Worst of all, he had killed somebody. A girl that he didn't even know, another mother's child. Every person on this island had a mother and a father who would be grieving over the death of their child... and one of those deaths was Z2's own fault. Delta 1 hadn't deserved to die, but so didn't G5, "... G5 ... she was... she was just trying to defend herself. Delta 1 attacked us first!" Z2 began to sob even harder every emotion hit him at once, "It wasn't her fault, it wasn't her fault that Delta 1 died!! We didn't want to kill her, she brought it on herself!!!" Z2 crawled over to Gamma 5's lifeless body and held the small child in his arms as he sobbed beneath his mask, "How could you do this... how could you kill a child? Gamma 5, wake up... please, wake up!!! Please!!!" Z2 began to shake her lifeless body violently, expecting her to move or to same something, anything at all. It was useless though... she was really dead and was never coming back. She would never talk, smile, laugh, or cry again. She would never experience the rest of her life, the life she never got to live. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry Z12, I'm sorry Delta 1, I'm sorry G12, I'm sorry Alpha girl on the beach, I'm sorry X2... and I'm sorry G5. So, so... sorry. I couldn't save you. I promised you that I would save you, but I couldn't do it. I'm too coward, too weak. I can only provide the questions but never the solution... everything I did in my past life, every single event led up to here. To this very spot. I think I've found the answer to why I'm here. It was for my eyes to witness how cruel humanity is. And I've seen it, with my own two eyes... I've seen the devil himself. To the doctor over the intercom, I hope you rot in hell you ******** b*****d..." Z2 began to laugh again as he continued to cry. He laughed and cried, cried and laughed as every negative emotion he could possibly imagine hit him like bullets from a machine gun. Finally, Z2 reached up to his neck where the pendant hung and held on to it, "Gamma 5, we're going home like you wanted, alright...? Let's go home. Together." With those final words, Z2 teared the pendant from his neck. Suddenly, an intense burning sensation engulfed his entire body starting from his feet all the way up to his neck. It felt as if a thousand flaming needles were being stuck into his body one by one, all the way up and not missing a single spot. He released Gamma 5's body as he began to scream, thrashing around violently as the pain began to grow even more unbearable. His entire body dropped to the floor as he rolled back and fourth and screamed as the burning continued to take over him, "Z12, please forgive me..." Z2 crawled back onto his knees, and with a final heart shattering screech that could only be described to be like the wail of a banshee could be heard throughout the entire gym, a cry that could only sum up half of all the anguish he felt over the days he had been here, as Z2 finally collapsed to the ground faced down in a heap beside Gamma 5. It was finally over, he was free from this island. He grabbed onto Gamma 5's hand with the pendant clutched between both of their hands as he sighed his last breath of humanity, tasted the copper red blood that spewed from his mouth mixed with his tears and despair, and died. Z2 has sustained 10 Damage to his remaining 7 HP. Z2 has died.Exiting to death lounge.

[Beta 4's gear is turning on him!]
Before had tried to sit up, clutching his ribs in agony, unable to see anything through the blood-flecked lenses of his mask. Moment ago, he'd been feeling cold from the blood loss, and now the warmth he'd been so eagerly looking for had arrived. Except it was getting more and more uncomfortable by the minute that he began to remove his knee-pads. In hindsight, he should have just set them aside instead of thrown them all willy-nilly.
Because when his booterangs returned, and he failed to catch them, the second knee-pad that he'd removed (in an attempt to remain symmetrical) ended up being thrown up towards the ceiling. It hadn't gone that high up but the height was considerable enough that when it landed smack dab on Beta Four's head (hard-side down), there was a resounding crack that echoed through the gym.
Concussion or no, Before was just too badly injured to be able to withstand even such a minor blow. Especially one to the head. If anyone had been close enough to the idiot as he fell forward, face-first, they would hear him chuckle wetly, "Think I just won a Darwin Award."
And he was still.

Shock had subdued XII's reaction to the two sudden suicides. She visited each body, doing the only thing she could do but gather their pendants. The pendants weighed heavy in her hands, so she lifted them over her head and placed them around her neck. She didn't know who all of the red pendants were connected to (aside one to her own), and she didn't care. XII wouldn't be calling on them to do anything. That wasn't fair.
She quietly paid her respects to each of the fallen. It wouldn't be long before others would join them.

Mission accomplished, but there was one more thing that Delta Nine could attempt to do in order to assure that Delta Four made it out of here alive. Delta Four's promise to find Theta Seven and tell him that Delta Nine forgave him for breaking the promise he'd made to her -- that was the only thing that mattered now. "Thank you," she whispered to Delta Four before slowly, slowly making her way to Eta XII and sloppily striking out with a clenched fist. Delta Nine is attacking Eta Xii with her fists Damage to EXii: 1 Current HPs: 2, 2 shiny points, ah ah ah~
