Once Kayla found a place to rest she found herself slipping into unconsciousness swiftly. The room devoid of light seemed to numb her body as her eyes closed and the dreams came to her. Kayla didn't like to sleep even if it was necessary. It was then when her defenses were done as she rested and those from her past drifted to the front of her consciousness often like bugs buzzing in her mind. These other people were all victims of Kayla when she was younger trapped within her psyche but she could not let them go. Whatever made her body like this no one knew any way to help her. The dreams came to her and the nightmares were soon to follow.

"Of course I feel things slipping out of control. They've been slipping out of my control since this morning." Azrael replied, this one was somewhat bitter at thought of invaders ignorant of their presence in the forest as well as the other life within it. "I can't see the future either, Miluiel, but I know that there is plenty lurking out there that sends a chill through my hide and into my very bones. I tell you now, my love, that had myself or my people not been born into difficult situations like these, I would be enraged beyond anything that I've been angered of before. But I can't dwell on that." Azrael took a step back, his hand on Miluiel's shoulders, and looked straight into her eyes. "This has been on my mind since the news of this morning... but I believe that we cannot stay here. Those armies may have retreated, but they will return. I know now that whoever leads them will not listen to reason, will not care for our plight, and even if we might stay and fight it, we would not win." Azrael said, hurt poured from his heart as he spoke. He didn't want to leave this forest. It was so much like the one he was born and raised in, it was the home of his children and symbolized his life here in both its hardships and its joy.

Azrael looked down for a moment and then looked back up at Miluiel. "I mentioned earlier about going to your father for help." The words were spoken somewhat reluctantly. He knew that his tribe would follow his lead, but the fact that he had no way of staying or defending the lands he called home had struck deep into him. "I did not want to put pressure on him, to burden you and your father's people for assistance... but he is the only one we can go to that can find safe place for our people. If it were possible to win against the invaders or make their incursion wasteful and unfruitful, I would be content to fight them. But they have no care of these lands. All they want is the resources that lie here, then that is what they want. At the very best they might want a colony at the coast to ship lumber or other things to, but it wouldn't include us. If we were to fight them, and use the forest as our shield, then they would not be swayed. They would just set this part of the forest ablaze and cut us all down as we tried to escape. Survival is what is most important. If we cannot keep our home here, then we will leave, and that is the only option left to us. I am calling a tribal meeting tonight, and we leave this place as soon as possible." Azrael told her. "You should talk with your friend Lauvel. I may be misinterpreting, but I believe that there is more he wants to discuss with you about things in your homeland."

Lunalia laughed. "Izual found the cave near the lake, and I went where he told me it was before Dad took me to learn about tanning hides. Mum said that she didn't smell any bears or mountain lions in there, so it could be anything! A bat roost for the cold season or maybe even the Elder's secret meat store!" Lunalia, licking her lips at the possibility, despite the unlikeliness of that.

Logain's eyes narrowed. "Yes, I am aware of that. It's only that I don't like using those methods of coercion. But given the situation, I believe that it might be better if you were to use your siren song." Logain was not one to lightly employ or approve of mental alterations. He believed that coercion that placed upon a person was just as bad as using force, but sometimes one had to make such difficult decisions. "I only ask one things in particular... please take great care to weave the Siren song. I am aware of your skill and subtlety, but please take as great a care with it as you possibly can. This is a werewolf village, after all, and though you seem to have some experience with them, these werewolves are more aware more subtler things. The none-werewolf in this tribe, I believe his name is Veral, he may see to be merely an half-demon outcast who was taken in by this tribe, but I think he does more than teach the young of this village how to weave magic. No, he's likely told much to the fully grown members to. He also has aura abilities like mine. I just ask for as much caution as possible. This tribe, after all, would not be pleased if they thought that we were planning some ill intent toward one of their other guests." He said, looking back toward the village.

Miluiel listened to Azrael quietly. She didn't want to hear it, she didn't want to hear about the destruction of her home, here or with the elves. She didn't want to hear about war, or the pain her family or people might suffer. She listened with silent tears in her eyes, and a open wound in her heart. "My father will help." She said softly. She nodded in assurance, "I know he will." It broke her heard that her husband couldn't tell her the words she needed to hear. Surely one day everything would be okay again.

"I will see him later." She said softly. "If he does have anything he'd like to talk about I am willing to talk with him." She said, and added a nod for assurance.

"Oh, I really hope it's that!" Shera barked. "I would love to sink my teeth into some of that meat! I hope it is something really exciting." She said as her own thoughts took shape.

The voices in her mind called out to Kayla as though each victim that suffered her touch tried to gain control of her at once. It was a chaotic flash of mental energy she was able to keep under control generally. Her body tossed and turned on the furry bedsheets she wrapped herself in. People both good and evil demanding to be free confined by the will of a 16 year old girl scared of the touch of others yet strong enough to stay in control.

Suddenly through the maelstrom of maddening voices some thoughts came clearly as memories from a bygone age of demonic attacks and draconic dangers. The man she would consider father and woman who was the closest Kayla ever had to a mother were here in this place at least once long ago. She did not wake from her sleep but Kayla did finally stop moving about as if falling asleep to a story being told to her at a young age so she could relax. If these memories were really of these people however long ago they seemed like good people even before the visions.

Alunn stayed quiet for a few moments. "Many people wonder why I would have shades as my companions, as opposed to wolves or other vampires. There are so many uses for them, and so few people understand just how many there are. They act as my swords and shields, extra eyes, and other important functions. The thing I've realized however, is that once they bond with someone, they rarely ever leave. Friell is one that has bonded. He is as much a part of me as my blood, and more importantly, he can transfer my magic. Magic sensors only work if the line goes from caster to castee. With Friell, there is no line. Imagine three men, an assasin, the target, and a guard. The guard will spot and stop the assassin, that is, unless, the assassin travels say, underground." Friell faded down into the ground, splintering into tiny specks of shadow, and branching off towards Kayla.

Azrael hugged Miluiel tightly. "I know that things look grim Miluiel. But we can't ourselves despair." He told her reassuringly. "We can get through this, my love. Things will be alright if we plan ahead and prepare for any ditches in our path." Azrael didn't like to see Miluiel hurt, but she needed to know how things were and that there was always hope for them.

Logain sighed. "Then let's just get this over with quickly." He said, he wasn't anxious to draw things out any longer than they needed to.

Lunalia grinned and led them onward to the lake shore. "Alright, Izual. You found the cave first so you take the lead." She said to her brother.

"'Kay," said Izual. "Just follow after me guys, its not too far from here." Izual led the group of werewolf pups toward a large cropping of rock further down the shore.

The shade splinters moved through natural shadows, disappearing, and reappearing to avoid notice. They reached the sleeping form of Kayla, drawing together into her shadow. "She's asleep. This will make things easier" Alunn remarked absently. He began strumming his guitar, but no sound came out. The Siren Song would sound as a melody that would seem familiar, and drive at the person until they followed it.

((Assuming this works because of the complete darkness not so much her personal shadow. smile ))
Kayla stirred as something familiar and lovely filled her dream. She wondered where it was coming from and she sought it out in her dream as she unwittingly got up and began moving psychically. It was a beautiful song she thought to herself. It was so very comforting.

At first her body pressed gently against the the wall of the room and when it did not give way her body continued to move until she made it to the opening of the room and moved through the door back into the main room from earlier. Without saying anything she was drawn to the door to leave the hut and ventured out into the wild not fully awake as her body followed the rhythm of the Siren.

"May the lord above us bless us, Azrael. Thank you, that is what I needed to hear." She wrapped him even tighter in a hug that she didn't wish to loosen up on any time soon. She moved her head so she could give Azrael a kiss, just off to the side of his lips. Something that her people did to show their affection for each other. "I know that together, if we all stay close, we can do anything." She nodded. "We can get through it." She kissed him softly once more. Her thoughts were interrupted, however, when a sound disturbed her. Miluiel's long pointed ears twitched with the sound of foot steps outside the closed flap of their private den. She opened her eyes and stared just past Azrael's shoulder while she concentrated on the sound. "Azrael." She said slowly as the sound now included the front flap of the den. Then, as if by the flap of a butterfly's wing, it began to disappear. "Did you hear that?"

Shera's nerves were returning to her as they approached the cave. She kept close to Lunalia and Shinn as they entered through the ominous mouth of the cave. She imagined it closing behind them, and them getting trapped within. In an eternal darkness. "Shouldn't we bring something in with us to light the way?" Shera asked softly. "Like a stick of fire or something like that." She offered, unwilling to submit the information that she had a fear of the dark.

Azrael smiled and held onto Miluiel contentedly, enjoying the feel of her kiss. His moment of bliss was cut short by a faint sound, at about the same time that Miluiel had caught it. Azrael's own feral pointed ears twitched on hearing he sound. "I do hear it. It's strange... the sound is faint, it seems to have come from close by... but the source of the sound is not discernible." This concerned him greatly, he knew how to track and hunt well by sound. Sounds usually had one source or another, and had a direction that could be followed but it was such a faint sound and so spread that the source was masked. It was not normal.

Shinn thought for a moment as he stepped in. He could see fine in the cave entrance, his dark vision had been well toned over the years, as was normal for werwolves as they grew up, but knew that his sister wouldn't be so far along, as she was still very young. "I've got an idea!" He said to the group, he stood on his hind legs and brought his paw-like hands together, and concentrated on remembering he had created the fireball during lessons, and tried to mix that with how he had conjured his soul flame. He was greeted with success as a bright flame appeared between his hands. He transferred the flame to his right hand, his left hand being the the hand he preferred, and nodded to the group. "I'll take the head." He said moving in front of the group and moving the flame in front of him so that the group could see, he revealed it was a large chamber, with many large climbable rocks, and at the end of the chamber an entrance into deeper tunnels. As a werewolf, he preferred to move on four legs, but one advantage to being a werewolf was the ability to move on one's hind legs, like any bipedal species.

((The 'shadow' the shade needs is still there, our eyes just can't see it because what the shades really latch onto is more on a different plane))

"She's coming" Alunn told Logain, never missing a beat. A short time passed before he spoke again. "She is in good distance, I would drop the barrier." Alunn continued to play, but he probed out briefly. "I think Azrael is uneasy, he might have heard something."

As much as Miluiel would have liked to snuggle against her loved one she knew her duty, as well as his, was to investigate and make sure nothing was amiss. "Come on dear." She said softly, almost regretfully as she moved quietly in the direction of the den. Poking her head out from the thick wall of hide she saw nothing in the main room. Sneaking slowly she ventured over to the guest den to find that it too was empty. She returned to Azrael and announced softly, "Kayla's not in there resting any longer."

Shera nodded, oddly okay with the fact that Shinn would be the one going in first. She was also thankful that he could provide them with adequate light for their venture. Stepping inside however, a sense of excitement and joy filled her. The rocks themselves looked like an extraordinary toy just waiting for her to pounce all over them. "Do you think there is anything hiding in those rocks?" She asked the others around her.

Azrael's eyes narrowed as he moved toward where Kayla had been resting. "Let's find out where she might have gone to." Azrael said, concerned, but not wanting to be too nosy into her affairs if she was alright. He started to sniff around intently, taking in the traces if her scent and looking for a trail. "Follow me." He said as he started to follow the trail out of the house..

Shinn looked around and sniffed. "I don't smell anything." He said in reply to his sister. "But we should check it out just in case. C'mon everyone, let's sniff this place out." He suggested, and the group began to move about sniffing and prowling behind the rocks.

Logain sighed and allowed any barrier he might have raised to dissolve. "Let's hope that we can get this over with quickly." He said. "If we can get to the crux of this, then hopefully we can put this to be before we have the entire tribe on us over misunderstanding."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 29, 2010 7:46 pm

"I can give us all the time we need" Alunn said darkly, a series of black vine like markings spreading across his face. "Vaettirs blood and Draida's kin" he muttered, he biting his thumb, letting the blood drop to the ground on his shadow and Logain's, the spell also extending to Kayla as she was connected by the shades. A circle of darkness appeared around him, Logain, and Kayla, soon developing into a salon that would have been used by a very large family, if it had existed in the regular plane. The vine markings disappeared, Alunn returning to his normal self. "We have all the time we need, we get a day to a minute in this plane, and Kayla is in the next room."

Miluiel nodded without argument. She rushed forward, eager to find out where the young pup was heading off to. She hoped she would be okay.

Shera nodded and jumped forward, ready to sniff out anything that could be in the least bit interesting. "Okay!" She said, but made sure to stay beside either her brother, or Lunalia.
