That's just why he's so he's so dark and complicated.
He's an uber conflicting character.
He conflicts with himself, his surroundings, the people around him, his mentality, his emotions.
The poor Troll isn't stable.
Well...
He wasn't stable.
Because of his transformation, his Zen keeps him simple minded.
Which can be a hindrance to himself, honestly.
Which is also why he's nowhere to be found.
