Julianne, for her part, allowed herself to be practically dragged by the little girl, looking like she was about to burst into a fit of laughter. She loved children. She couldn't have them, and honestly felt like the part where they're babies would overwhelm her, even if she could, but she loved children. She waited for Stacey to pull out her 'artbook'.

The art book was an ordinary binder, full of notebook paper that had just about every kind of drawing the little one could make. All in bright crayon and markers. The TV... cookies... the toys in her room... stick figures with hair and clothes of her family.... Superman.... just about everything. All stuffed inside a binder that was growing too full for all of the pages.
Rebecca smiled, then waved to her mother as she passed by into Stacey's room.
"And this is Bryan.... and this is Amber... and this is Becca... and this is Robin.... and this is that clown girl.... and this is..." The little girl rattled on, flipping through every page.

"Hey, hey, slow down just a little," Julianne said, chuckling at the girl's excited exuberance, "I'd like to see more than just a passing glance of them." In reality, she was essentially buying time for the cookies to get completely finished baking; she knew it would probably be easier if Stacey was out of the way, not underfoot.

"Yeah, don't make her dizzy, Stacey." Rebecca said, grinning. "You do that, and it'll take us longer to get to the Circus."
The little girl looked between the two women with wide, excited eyes. "Really?!" she exclaimed.
Rebecca smiled and put a finger to her mouth to try and calm her down.
Stacey smiled, then shook her head. She moved to sit down beside Julianne and placed the binder between her and the older woman. Going through the pictures slower.

Julianne, now that Stacey wasn't trying to show the pictures at the speed of sound, could actually see the drawings. For her age, she wasn't terrible. She wasn't going to be a natural da Vinci or anything, but it was better than scribbles. Maybe something like Matisse...
After a few more pictures, she had a realization. She turned her head to look at Stacey, and said, "Hey, I got an idea. Why don't you introduce me to the rest of your family? If I'm going to take you to the circus, they'd probably like to know who I am."

Stacey beamed again, and jumped to her feet the next moment. "Okay! We can go see Aunty Amber! Maybe the cookies are done!" she said, then grabbed Julie's hand and pulled her to her feet and out the door again. Rebecca laughed as they moved past her, and followed them out to the kitchen.
Stacey stopped with the older woman once they reached the kitchen table. The littlest one playing with the playdough didn't seem to pay them any mind. The boy glanced over at them as he sat leaning over the table, and Rebecca's mother was busy putting the cookies onto a plate. The older woman paused to look up at the woman.
"This is Auntie Amber" Stacey said, pointing to the mother. "That's my brother, Bryan. And that's Kayla." she added, pointing to the boy, and then the youngest little girl. "Auntie Amber, this is Julie! She's Becca's friend! She's going to take us to the Circus!" she announced excitedly.

"So is Becca, Stacey," Julie said, smiling, "She's coming, too."
Julianne then offered the hand that wasn't being clamped down on by a small child to Amber. "Very pleased to meet you."

The older woman smiled and reached a hand out to take hers. "It's nice to meet you too, dear. And thank you for helping to take the children to the Circus. They thought it would be hours before they'd be able to go." Amber said with a smile. "Please, sit down. Make yourself at home. They'll want at least one cookie before they want to run out the door anyway."

"Well, I wasn't about to let Becca slide on a promise," Julianne said, humor in her voice, as she sat down. She was joking, of course; she knew that Rebecca had no intention of breaking her word.
"Stacey," Julianne said, turning to the little girl, "Why don't we sit down, and you can tell me all about yourself. How's that?"

The little girl beamed, then climbed into the chair right next to Julianne. She then began to ramble, though not as fast as she had with her pictures, about herself. Her name, what she liked to do, her favorite animals, her siblings, what it was like living with her aunt and cousins...
Rebecca meanwhile laughed and moved to her mother.
"You didn't call last night..." Amber said softly.
"I know. I'm sorry." Rebecca replied, just as quietly.
"Were you... with a date last night?"
"Well..." Rebecca began, blushing and looking away. "Yes. I... I met someone last night."
Amber sighed. It was the kind of sigh that Rebecca knew was disapproving.
"Its alright Mom. Really." she added, smiling. "It... I... I need to talk with you and dad later." she said. She really didn't know how to say it. 'My one-nighter turned into a committed relationship and he paid our debt off by the millions?' Yeah, that was going to go over smoothly. "I... I just want you to know that he doesn't need to go to work today." she said, glancing over at her brother. "At all. It's over."
Amber blinked, and gave her daughter a puzzled look. "What do you mean? Cobblepot wouldn't..."

Julianne simply sat and listened with a smile. She looked interested, although she was in truth slightly impatient to get going. Still, she knew that one of the things all children want was to be listened to, and she was determined to deliver just that.
Although part of her was also hoping that these were some awesome cookies she was waiting on.

In the Galley of La Diamete, Late-1700s It was another day of practicing the arts of voodoo, 24-year-old C.J. Benoit, now with the neat little handle of "Blackjack" was making dinner him and his mentor/girlfriend Merida. *sniff sniff* Hey, that smells good! What's in there? "Chicken Masala. I picked it up when our captain took us to India!"India? Like GHANDI India?! "Hey, that's what I asked, but nobody heard of it before!"Okay! Anyways, C.J. was just putting in some ingredients. Ginger, some allspice, and almost reached the scotch bonnet pepper powder when he accidentally grabbed the wrong thing . . . weirdly, some of Merida's magic powders and powdered hot pepper look awfully alike, much to C.J.'s surprise. He poured some of the "peppers" into the mixture, which turned yellow . . . then red . . . then BLUE . . . and opened a wormhole, which exited out . . . GOTHAM CITY: PRESENT DAY BOOM!!!!The explosive appearance of the wormhole spat out a voodoo priestess and a little older (and apparently none-the-wiser) C.J. into the Gotham he once knew . . . three years prior to when he fell in the hole! "MAAAAEEEEEEEE I ******** UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup!!!!!" he screamed until . . . WHAM!!C.J.'s flight was stopped short, crashing into a few trash cans in an alley.

Trash cans wouldn't be the only thing damaging mister Blackjack Benoit! Right after he crashlanded, another force..somewhat heavier would be dropped down on his spine..a very human looking something!
"WATCHER BACK!"
Merida yelped as she dropped, right down on C.J, landing with a rather mighty force..hopefully mister Benoit there had a metal skeleton! Grunting, she splayed out, spread eagle,"...Next time, y'aren't allowed anywhere near my powders..."
Rolling over, she tipped onto her knees and sat there for a while, head hung low. Everything was spinning in a psychedelic vortex,"Are ya alright..?", she rasped, tipping her head a bit to the side, silver eye peering at him.

Meanwhile, Blackjack eased himself up into a sitting position, wobbling dazed. One could even hear and see little birds circling around his head, tweeting. "But I dun' wanna go to school today, mommy . . . I wanna stay home and bake cookies with you . . ." he said, a little out of it, singed with ash, but mostly okay. Shaking himself off, he smirked. "As soon as the room stops spinning, I'll be alri- oooh boy." he said . . . getting his balance around him. This was NOT the galley of a ship . . . hell, there wasn't a patch of water near where they landed! "Well, this don't look good! Where'd the ship go?!" he asked.

"I'll explain everything when we get back. I promise." Rebecca replied, then glanced down as something began tugging at her jeans. She bent down, then stood back up with little Kayla in her arms. "Right now, I think we should get these kids some cookies so we can be off on our way to the Circus."
Amber gave her daughter another puzzled look, glanced to Julianne, then turned her attention to the cookies on the counter next to her. "I suppose we shouldn't keep them waiting." she replied. "Though you will have a lot to explain later."
The woman then picked up the plate of cookies, and moved to sit them down on the table before Julianne and the two children. Little Kayla watching with wide eyes as the cookies passed her, and reaching out for one as they were sat down on the table.
"Well, help yourself." Amber said, a smile returning to her again. "The boys don't have much of a sweet tooth, and those chocolate chips won't stay very melty once they've cooled off."
