I wouldn't touch anything HP besides a printer or maybe a monitor with a stick. Then again, I haven't printed anything in about a decade or so, and the monitor I use is Samsung, so...
I think I used to use Open Office when I used anything like that, but again, I haven't needed it for so long. I think I've needed a spreadsheet maybe once? Twice? Everything else I pretty much use notepad since i only need the words written down somewhere for my own benefit and I really hate too many fancy formatting things.
I guess when it comes to hardware, I try to collect extras when I can. I hate things that don't just use male/male usb cables though. I know why they do it, but it still pisses me off.

I don't print much besides papers for school. It's why I still had that old bucket that can only print six pages in an hour. But the new laptop doesn't have a so-called printer port, so I was always having to transfer things to the old laptop and connect it to the old printer or put things on my flash drive and print them out at school, which is a total crapshoot. So new printer. And it's so loud. I know I'm gonna eventually wake the whole house up printing out a due-in-six-hours paper at 3 AM.

I use wordpad, too, it's just that sometimes it doesn't use keyboard shortcuts (like ctrl+shift+z is just like ctrl+z to it ;_____; ). Then it doesn't double space (unless I make a whole new one and then copy and past the document from there). Open office is good but it takes a while to save something and I don't like the fill-in-the-word option (but I know I can take that off, I just forget where...). Plus, my novel is 130k and open can't handle that big of a file without constantly pausing for the next word, so I just split it in two. arg.
Word perfect is cool. I think my only qualms are when I push a random button in the toolbar and can't for the life of me get it off. Why do they do this? Can't I press the button again and get it off? No ctrl+z? ;______; I got use to not pressing anything in the toolbar. Haha.
My family and I use the printer for a lot of things. To print out notices or events we bought. To print out maps to certain places. School. Bday, xmas list. I just hate it when I have ink that is bought but never used so the ink dries out. gonk It may work if I put it in water...

I wouldn't open anything past 10 pages in Open Office anyway. If you have 50+ pages you might as well make it a .pdf or something.
I suppose sometimes I need a map printed out, but typically I just copy it down on something easier to carry than an A1. I don't like folding my maps if I can avoid it. I prefer having a one page map and then directions separately. And if I need to note down something small like a recipe or something I just use the note function on my phone or iPod since I'm going to take them with me anyway.
Now that I think about it, with all that stuff and stuff like digital frames for photos, I have no real idea what I would use a printer for nowadays. I guess a resume, but I email most of those too if I have to.

Since the day the format is invented I love it because I still remember the b***h it was to send a document to people that didn't have the same OS and/or the same wording software or police characters font. Trust me, it's a charm...

I've got 30 stickers. Apparently the most you can get is 33, or 34 if you grabbed today's before they took it down (which was before I got on the site at 7:15 Eastern this morning).
