Sounds like you come from a very old town with a lot of history to it. I don't know that my town has anything that interesting. Maybe Snake Alley (The Crookedest Street in the World, as it has been called), but that's about it.
Not as old as cities out east but still pretty darn old considering we've been around in an official capacity for 160 years. We've been a quarry town and a steel mill town, used to have a thriving printing industry, had a state run prison in town before it was moved to the northwest of it's old location, and are more known for the number of trophies won by our schools now. We even used to be a stop on the old Route 66 with a museum dedicated to the fact, which prompted a certain musical gentleman from Liverpool to make a stop in town to visit it with his now current wife four years back. We've been around for that long and I don't think a damn thing has been mentioned about it in the local news rags or by the city council.
I love where I live but the fourth largest city in Illinois can be as boring as all get out some times.
Well, at least you don't live in Chicago. I've heard off and on that the crime is really bad there and getting worse. The Quad Cities seem ok though.

Chicago has it's good and bad days. You just have to know when and where you can do stuff and you'll do just fine.
That's an alpaca, by the way. I can tell because of the shortness of its ears. Llamas have longer ears. It just had its wool cut off, too.

Oh? Then in that case it's an alpaca that defected to the llama side. And it's a fail on the internet's part, where it's listed as a llama almost everywhere. rofl
I'm the kind of person who won't update something Internet wise until it's absolutely necessary or there's no choice left but to get it. Beta versions and early releases of browsers with all kinds of possible glitches and conflicts with add ons I don't go for. Changes to the back end and physical look to my email with the choice to stick with the work just as well old one, I'll stick with the old version if the new one is slow and wonky even if they say otherwise. This whole "Someday everyone will have a timeline here on Facebook so why don't you get yours now and be ahead of the pack" stuff, I said I'd rather wait for someday when they make me have it. Guess what, it's someday now. I don't mind change because, heck, websites have to change and adapt or risk losing members. I just like that change to come with the option to not have it if I don't see the need for it or the new version doesn't do what I need it to.
Gotta love Gaia and the option to keep the old footer that lets me get to my quick links without having it open all the time.

I'm not a huge fan of the centered site stuff. So I'm glad they make that a completely optional thing.

yeah! smile it's nice... no one wants to have change forced upon them...
I guess instantly hating Facebook on Facebook has been replaced by hating Instagram on Instagram. The funny thing is, a lot of the people throwing out the instant hate and cries of "it's too much like Facebook" are doing so based on something that hasn't taken place yet. The purchase of Instagram by Facebook hasn't been approved yet by the FTC so technically Facebook doesn't own Instagram so anything Instagram does isn't done under Facebook direction. Their decisions and changes come from the app's creator and its design and engineering team.
It's like people who hate Gaia on Gaia but won't leave Gaia because they're too addicted to it.

I completely agree with you about this. I'm always seeing people going on with this attitude in the GCD. I mean, if you hate this site so much, then why are you even here?xd
