Petro never suffered from any delusion that he was smart enough to ever figure out these kinds of obstacles. Especially given his current state, he would rather conserve his strength and what little sanity he still had. He didn't want to waste his breath on something that made zero sense to him nor did he want anyone who didn't already know to know just how useless he was. What the tikbalang wanted was to be in his real form. What he wanted was to break things, rend things, destory things. He wanted to feel bones crunch beneath his hooves, see blood drench his fists, hear screams of pain. So much wanting but Petro doubted the possibility of any of these coming to fruition. Not any time soon and definitely not here.

He was in too foul a mood that Aksaja's attempts didn't elicit so much as a smirk from the monster horse. And when Riley solved the puzzle, he only grimaced and braced himself. Something in his gut was telling him the worst was yet to come.

Just gotta deal, he growled to himself and waited.

Arachne kept her hand tightly held onto Sepheran's, still feeling shellshocked from Elizabeth's...she couldn't think the word, let alone say it, it was too raw yet. She sniffed, listening to Conquest speak, her gaze travelling over to the keypad next to the portal.

She watched as several of the students tried to work out the clue, her own mind too numb to be of any practical use. Several attempts later, Riley read out words that had seemed to be on the reverse of the paper, and minutely shook her head. Why couldn't that just have been written in bold letters on the front?

She looked towards the portal and back again.
'What is that?' she asked, her voice quiet, tentative as if she were worried that speaking would cause herself to crumble.
'Can we get them?'

Well, something happened. However, it was something Riley hated to see. She hated it from the pits of her very soul, if she even had one. Deep down, the anger bubbled forth, bursting to the surface until finally she backed away, glaring daggers at the twirling hourglass symbol.

It was the icon her eyePhone made right before it started locking up.

You piece of.. She kicked the keypad, before reaching out in a vain attempt to bitchsmack the portal as well.

It figures. She growled deep in the back of her throat, as she turned around and moved to sit at Jericho's feet, right in front of Malodore. All this hard work, the tragedy, the loss.. and we're defeated by technology.

Sepheran felt Arachne's hand against his, he didn't say much, obviously just has affected by everything that happened as everyone else was. He however seemed to decide to take another route with dealing with such things. "No matter what we'll move forward...where ever Lizzy is I won't let her down...we must survive and get home and everything will be alright again," Sepheran stated though his voice was soft and barely audible. He still refused to say Lizzy was dead.

Sepheran gave gentle squeeze to Arachne's hand before finally realizing something else was happening. Slowly he moved forward. Things weren't over until they made it back...he still had to survive. He wasn't going to give up. Course with his current wounds making it closer to the others took some time, still with Arachne's support and Liannan's guidance he somehow made it to the front of the portal awaiting to find out what was happening.

At first, it seemed only the keypad was shaking. Soon, everything around them joined suit, the floor quavering, the portal humming erratically. There was a loud shrieking noise, higher than any possibly scream, painfully familiar -

- And then standing huddled next to the portal was a someone. A someone and a few more familiar student faces.

It- she- wobbled for a second, before leaning against the side of the portal alcove. "Ugh, falling stuff, falling everywhere, stupid students - oh hi Pesty!" Her voice audibly perked up at the other demon standing a little further away. "I brought my um, the students, you know. To... solve stuff." She was fidgeting: it looked like she did not know her own portal answer either.

((ALL ABANDONED TOWN STUDENT SURVIVORS have been transferred to this thread to help with the puzzle
- The pieces that Famine dropped are still with their owners and all write the same thing over and over again. What on earth does it mean?
- Students are free to interact/update each other with what is going on
- GOOD LUCK SOLVING IT ALL STUDENTS ))

'I don't know how to do that. She is..' Arachne didn't like changing to past tense to speak of her friend. That would mean admitting she was gone, even though it was now obvious she wouldn't be joining the others at the portal.

'My first friend. Kind and cheery. I envy her easy going nature.' she said, her hand still wrapped in Sepheran's as he moved closer and she looked at him, making sure he was okay.

'Go easy.' she said softly to him. She thought about the voice, the one that had spoken so like her mother. A friend had..gone. And here I still am. Can I cope? Maybe, but I need - help. All I want to do is ask Elizabeth what to do - but I can't.

'We'll get home.' she murmured.
'We have to.'

As the gym collapsed around them, Aurian felt a sharp pull on her hair followed by a stranger pull at her body. It seemed to want to tear her inwards and outwards at the same time. Her stomach dropped and the gym lurched around her. Red eyes squeezed tightly shut. Hoping the vertigo would be gone, Aurian opened them again a few moments later.

There was no gym. What there was were a bunch of students she didn't really recognise, and solid walls, floor and ceiling surrounding them all. Unless the gym had plummeted into some kind of secret basement, Aurian suspected they were no longer in the school.

"Um... hello," she greeted the unknown group cautiously.

Famine seemed on good terms with a male ghoul in robes with this group, but that didn't mean much. Aurian wasn't sure just how much on their side the Horsewoman was - for all she knew, Famine was planning to ditch them all when things got tough.

"Where are we?" she asked, turning slowly to inspect this new (for her) area.

Silently, Astra watched more students float over the obstacles, and with a thankful heart she watched Petro float over to safety. However, that was short lived, as she watched both him and Mac grieve over the other fallen students. It was heart wrenching to see, and again, she was powerless to do and say anything about it. What could she say anyway? Nothing, thats what.

The injuries that she had suffered so far were starting to take their toll, leaving her to kneel on the floor, unable to do anything else. Her wings had lost most of their color, and in some places were ripped and tattered. Not to mention the many cuts and bruises she had on her arms and face. While it looked bad, she knew that there were others that were in a far worse state then herself.

Again, the fairy was merely a spectator while the others figured out what the password was, until suddenly a few new faces had appeared, including one she recognized.

"...Aurian?" she said out loud, Managing to get to her feet and approach the other reaper she had met on the ship. "How did you get here?" She asked before hearing the others question. "You're at the lighthouse"

Petro's eyes widened in surprise. The moment he felt the vibrations, he'd expected to either be pulled into the portal or for some impossibly massive reaper to appear for them to battle. Instead, what appeared was someone he'd never seen before (no surprise there, really) and students? Still in a battle stance, the tikbalang warily eyed the new-comers, "Where'd y'all come from?"

His brows quirked at the mention of solving something. "Y're all better off asking Riley or someone else." He had no clue how to solve their own and he still was in no mood to try.

As she had been turned away from the portal in disgust, Riley wasn't looking at the keypad when it began to shake. She could feel the vibrations on the platform she sat on, however, and her hands slowly dropped to the floor, spreading her palms down against it to feel the quaking even as it magnified. The sound that pierced the air made her drop her head down while her hands whipped up to cover her ears. Sounds that high were especially painful for her, as they pierced through her mind and left her with less thinking room.

When the world stopped shaking and screaming around her, Riley finally turned around. Her mind cried 'hallucination' almost instinctively, as if it had learned from it's mistakes already and used the idea as a shield. Brushing the thought away, she pushed herself to her feet and took stock of who had joined them. A deep breath heaved her chest.

It's good to see you. Riley's thoughts emitted to the group. She couldn't tell who had, or hadn't made it through in their group, but she was glad to see a few familiar faces still alive despite the ordeal.

"Colette! No!!" Raziel had already began to scream out to her as a new chasm had begun to appear beneath her and before Famine had snatched him up and brought him to this new location. Wide-eyed and unsure of where he was, Raziel flung his head around looking for any familiar face he could find.

For the moment, he had no idea where he was, who these others were, and why all this was happening. "Where are we?" he managed to get out before sinking to his knees. His despair over losing his closest friend in this whole ordeal evident on his face. He gave a heavy sigh before slowly dragging himself up from the ground. The look of sorrow on his face shifted into a look of vengeance and determination. "They can't really be dead, can they?" he asked to anybody who would listen, "there's got to be a way out, something we can do." He was becoming slightly more bold and had taken a few steps towards the closest stranger. He hoped that someone would fill him in on whatever was going on here. Whether they were friends or foes, Raziel was still unsure, but he knew they all needed each other to get off this blasted island.

Arachne started, but didn't leave Sepheran's side, nor leave hold of his hand as students began appearing one by one on the portal platform.

She looked at the boil who had just spoken, and answered, her voice still raw with emotion;
'I don't know. I can't think beyond what I know, that I saw one boil die, and heard..' she swallowed thickly, gathering herself before speaking again.

'She appeared from nowhere before you did.' she motioned towards Famine.
'With yet more riddles in tow.'

"Astra!" Aurian joyfully cried. She rushed forward and enveloped her former shipmate in a big hug. "You're still alive. I'm so glad."

Sniffling a little, Aurian beamed at the girl she considered a friend. The reaper was a little emotional right now. Watching friends die, then the building they were in collapsing, being saved by a woman they had thought was an enemy (and Aurian still had her doubts), and now finally reuniting with someone she hadn't seen in over a week.

"The Lighthouse?" Aurian repeated, glancing around. She would have thought underground, from the lack of windows. Maybe the Lighthouse had been staffed by vampires who didn't want any sunlight getting in? Aurian shrugged. If Astra said it was the lighthouse, then Aurian believed her. With a faltering smile, Aurian explained, "We were at the school in the north of the island. One of the island Reapers made it collapse into the earth, though, and Miss, uh, Famine over there brought us all here somehow." By yanking on Aurian's hair. Her scalp was still protesting the treatment, but it beat being left behind in the falling gym.

"I see you guys found a portal, too. Did anyone get it working yet?" The school group hadn't had time to examine theirs.

Aurian jumped when a voice spoke directly into her mind. The purple ghoul was the one the boy had gestured to when talking of 'Riley'. "Nice to meet you, too, Riley," Aurian said, giving a tentative smile. "Um, you're good at solving things? Maybe this can help?"

She held out one of the scraps of paper that Famine had dropped earlier on. Aurian wasn't sure what to make of secret being spelt out backwards and forwards. "Something needs to go in reverse, maybe?" she guessed. "I don't know of any secrets, though..."

One moment Jove was kneeling in front of that giant chasm, and the next he was dizzy and disoriented kneeling on rough ground. He looked up with wide eyes and stared around, seeing only a few familiar faces. Those who had been with him at the school, and some students he might have seen back home... Like the boil who had also been a part of their swimming lesson.

But Seiji wasn't there, neither were the others who had fallen into the pit. Were these all the survivors? Where was Ren and Alessa? And Calder and Lizzy from the boat? They really weren't coming back... He started shaking, ears flattened back and tail pressed between his legs.

That was when he heard that eerie voice in his head. He slowly turned his head in Riley's direction, watching with frightened eyes as he struggled to figure out whether he was imagining it or not.

Hearing a voice reply to him, Raziel looked in its direction to see who it was coming from. The ghoul looked a little bit familiar to him, but he wasn't entirely sure. He took a few more steps towards the ghoul, before halting two arms lengths away. "I hope they're all right..." Raziel mumbled.

At the ghoul's gesture, Raziel followed her motion to the horse ghoul thing that had killed Colette and snatched him into this place. He could feel his blood rising, but he knew they needed her around to figure out this mess.

"More riddles.." Raziel trailed off, remembering the black scraps of paper that had fluttered about Famine before. He pulled a crinkled piece of paper out of his pocket and unfolded it. "Secret Terces" he read outloud, "What do you think it could mean? Terces is secret backwards..." he trailed off, not entirely sure where his train of thought was going.
