"I just arrived, love. You were the first sight I wanted to see." He kissed her softly on the cheek and smiled as he pulled back. Gently cradling her face in his hands, his eyes were full of love as they took in the beauty of the elf before him. "I have no need of food yet. You, however, are tired, A'mael. Let's say we have a little nap before finding a feast to fill this dragon's stomach."

Accepting no objections, he easily shifted so that the two lay on the couch together. Anna resting comfortably on Pyralis. He cradled her with one arm and drew a throw blanket resting on the back of the couch around them with the other. He whispered softly in her ear. "Comfortable enough for beautiful dreams, A'mael?" There was no one else in the world who this dragon could treat with such tenderness.

She adored that tenderness. It fueled her own positive energies and gave her something to look forward to every day. Not that life had become boring before Pyralis had come to her, but living for so long exposed her to nearly everything. Pyralis had become her spark.
She laughed softly as he adjusted both of them for a nap, and felt the natural warmth of a dragon soothing her. If this was what she had for the rest of her days, Anna was convinced she would want for nothing.
"Of course... you know I've missed your coziness." What a word to describe a dragon, of all creatures. Anna kissed his cheek and settled herself in, smiling at the thought. "I love you, A'mael."
Anna looked utterly content as she looked up at him, still smiling.

"I love you too, A'mael."

It hardly took any time for the two exaughsted immortals to fall asleep in each others arms.

------------------------------------

The sun rose high in the sky; it wasn't until late noon that Pyralis opened his eyes. Smiling at his love, he gave her a small squeeze. "Wake up, love. We've already passed the day away."

"Mmmf..."
She didn't want to wake up. She didn't want to move from the comfortable dragon, but Anna opened her groggy eyes despite it all.
"Hello, dearest," she said, shaking sleep off her voice. "Do you think anyone came while we were sleeping?" Though secretly, Anna didn't care. The world could wait, unless it was dire, like someone igniting themselves or some such nonsense that she'd been dealing with lately.

Still holding on to Anna, Pyralis sat them up and looked around them. No new notes, and he had sensed nothing in his watchful sleep. "No, I believe the day has passed in peace for once. How strange." He kissed his love on the cheek. "But how wonderful for us."

With Anna in his arms, Pyralis stood. To him, his love weighed no more than a feather. He could carry her around all day if she permitted him. "Now, where shall we go for a nice, big lunch?" Red eyes danced with a playfulness as he looked down at the elf in his arms. "It can be as far away as you like. We have time, and I promise you won't tire yourself here in my arms."

Oh, how she would have loved to have just gone home...
But that was too far of a journey, even if Pyralis insisted that they had enough time to travel. Anna looked up at him, with his red eyes and markings that lined his face. She would have loved to steal him away to the ends of the earth, but they had to be sensible, just a bit.
"Moline would be lovely, though we've gone there so many times. And here you say we could go any place at all... I would be happy with any place at all."
And so Anna settled in to his grip and relaxed, looking rather amused with herself as she gave her feet a wiggle. "I believe you should say where we are to go."

Pyralis chuckled. "You really are too cute for words, my love. Hmm..." He thought about where exactly they could go. There was the school to think of and work, sadly. Otherwise he'd take her far away where it would be just the two of them.

The Other Realms would be a nice change from Moline, but where? Then it struck him. Just like many humans knew of little 'hole-in-the-wall' places in large cities to get the best food, Pyralis knew of many of those places in the Other Realms. There was one close by and the food was wonderful. It was perfect. "I know just where we should go, A'mael."

Hold tight.

And with that, they were off to enjoy lunch without the worries of the school pressing in on them.

It had been a lovely lunch in the other Realm, but things had turned a tad sour towards the end. Pyralis would have to leave for a month in order to solve conflict elsewhere, and though Anna knew him to be destined for a noble cause, she still felt heartache.

As they entered her office again, Anna already had a mission set in her mind.
"I'll begin fashioning the elixir. It will take some time, but it will be done before you leave," she said, not knowing when exactly that would be. If it was the next day, Anna would take all night to make what he needed. She looked up to her dragon with a heart full of concern, though also full of faith that they would get through this together.
"Though, I may need your help with a few things here and there."

Pyralis nodded, wishing he could lift the weight from her heart. "Anything you need, A'mael." He took her hand in his and kissed it. "I must leave tonight. I regret the rush of my departure, but it can't be put off long." Rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb, he could only stand there and take in the sight of his love. It would be a long month and right now he would settle for just holding her hand; there was a strange power in holding the hand of one's love.

Anna looked back at him and also held his hand, and with just as much love in her heart. She knew that perhaps he would want something more from her, but it still wasn't the right time. To soothe her thoughts, his words came back: she was enough. She would always be enough. And knowing that, Anna let her little bit of guilt go.
That kind of love would keep her going through the short time they would be apart.
"I'll be mixing and preparing for a bit, but when it comes time to infuse it, I'll have to use my own energy. This world isn't suited to the exchange like ours is... so I just might fall right asleep when I'm done. Seems I'm always doing that."

Anna gave a little laugh just remembering all her healing. Sometimes she was able to keep herself alert after she gave all her energy, but there were limitations on everything in Grove. Anna wasn't quite used to it, though she was getting better at not exhausting herself.
This project would be something that required a great deal of concentration, and she wasn't sure how she would turn out.

Anna looked to Pyralis with a genuine smile. There would be no more gloom from that moment on while he was still at her side.
"So! Let's get started so you and your friend come home safely."

With that, Anna turned to her office where drawers of supplies were kept, each one holding everything she needed for this very important concoction. She would try to mix, chant, channel, and infuse every bit of her care and love into it.

And she did. Anna worked efficiently, giving Pyralis enough time to pack all he would need for his journey. Once or twice she asked him to stand by just in case she should exhaust herself to the point of sleep, but Anna pulled through for his sake, and that of his friend.

It wasn't until the very final process that Anna turned to Pyralis with a bit of sadness in her eyes.
"Alright... everything is in these two vials, as you can see," she said, gesturing to the two little containers on her tabletop. They were surrounded by mortar and pestles, herbs, liquids, and papers about each ingredient.
"I need one more spell, and I'll transfer my very concentrated healing energy into the elixir... But I might fall asleep. We might have to say our see-you-soons now."

Anna didn't want him to leave, that much was certain. But if it was for the betterment of others, she would not keep him there.
She would send him off with a kiss.

Pyralis watched quietly as Anna worked; it had taken him hardly any time to pack what he needed. He was always amazed by her skill and grace while she worked. The beautiful elf was the dragon's angel and he wouldn't trade just being there with her for anything. Never once was he bored, giving her support when needed.

Once the two vials were mixed up, Pyralis nodded at her words and packed them in a bag he would take. Turning back to the love of his life, he hugged her close and kissed the top of her head. Rubbing her back, still holding her tightly to him, the dragons deep voice flowed out of him in a melody of old.

"Come my love and hold me near. Keep me close in your heart, do not fear. The winds carry me far across the land and sky.
I fight fiercely for your sake. Fear not at the journey I'm to make. These winds will cease and back to you I'll fly..."

As he sang, he poured his love into her through their mental link. As his voice trailed off, he smiled and kissed the top of her head once more. He made her understand through the link that it had been a song the men of his clan had sang to their loves when they had to leave. It was one of the few things he could carry on.

As Anna was held close, she allowed just a bit more of her energy to search out the vials in his bag. It was like following a trail she had set, completing all possible magic needed for them. And when he began to sing, all her own thoughts simply stopped.

Pyralis' voice reached her heart and made it ache. No tears, she told herself. His last memory of her face before leaving should be one of calmness, if she couldn't manage a smile. But somehow Anna did.

She pulled her head back enough to kiss him and show him a brave smile.
"I have faith that you will..." Anna whispered. Through her link, she, too, communicated the deep love she had for him. The tears peeked through that feeling as well, though she tried to keep them at bay on her face.
"I love you always, A'mael. But I am keeping you from your journey..." Once more her lips took his with a gentle sweetness, one filled with love and worry.
"May it be successful and carried out with ease."

"And may I return swiftly." He scooped her up into his arms and carried her to the couch in her office where he laid her down with extreme gentleness. Brushing a hair from her face, he managed a smile to match the brave face she was putting on for his sake. "Rest, A'mael. I will always find you in your dreams and keep you warm and safe." He kissed her deeply and lovingly. It was farewell for a time too long to think about for souls so closely intertwined.

Pyralis could wait no longer. He stood and picked up his things. "I love you, Annabelle Souris. Always, no matter how far away." Trusting himself to say no more, he left for his long journey.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 6:29 pm

Anna turned to watch him go. It was only until she was quite sure he was gone that she let the first few tears fall. How afraid she was for him! Regardless of his being a dragon, Anna conjured up terrible instances of pain and even death. This was not a safe journey he was setting out on, no matter how much she wished for it to be so.

But despite her tears, Anna picked herself up and set to cleaning her desk. All that was left now was to tend to her duties in Grove. One of which, she knew, was helping Rosie Fletcher with her emotional and ability issues. The girl was setting up barriers and tearing them down so often that Anna feared for her. Stability was needed more than anything.

So that would be her distraction. Helping Rosie and admitting students, along with paperwork while she waited for Pyralis to come home to her. At least she knew that she had done all she could before he had to leave.

Please, she prayed. Let him come back to me.

A travel-weary man walked up the hallway. It had been exactly six weeks since he had walked this path. He had seen much in the long time he had been away from the school and his love. Letters had been written every day by him, though not all of his doings had been explained for fear of worrying the very woman he was now seeking out. A traveling sack dropped from his shoulder with a thump and a small cloud of dust.

Though he was covered with the dust of his travels, he was still recognizable as the man the woman inside loved. So he knocked and waited patiently, trying to knock a bit of dust off of himself. It still stayed in his silver hair that was bound back as always. His red facial markings still shone through, matching his gleaming eyes that burned with a fire that demanded he see Anna right away to satisfied his never ending need of her. Pyralis was home.
