So my parents are opposed to my having a metal rod jabbed through my tongue, each for different stupid reasons.
My mom? She says no because my uncle had his friend pierce his tongue while he was drunk and really regretted it.

You're mom's reason is kind of dumb, because you're not intoxicated, and I'm pretty sure you're not about to get one of your friends to do it.
You're dad's reason seems to simply be based off what people say about oral sex being better with a tongue ring.
