Valik's eyes widened as he ran to her and pulled her. He grunted. "It's so strong!" he said. Suddenly Boothe was pulling too, and the picture finally released Selia. As the brothers looked around at the elves, all were staring at them with looks set to kill. "Let's get out of here." he brushed past them and was holding Selia by her wrist, making sure she stuck with them. Boothe quickly followed them outside. Just as they came outside, Valik quickly turned to were and nodded Selia to hop on. Boothe climbed onto his horse and began turning to run. The elves on the streets continued with their business, though some watched them with narrowed eyes. "Come on, come on." Boothe said through his teeth, not trying to attract anymore attention then they already have.

Selia scampered onto Valik's back, her eyes wide with fear and her skin lost of all color. Intertwining her fingers into the fur between Valik's shoulders, Selia let out a small shaky breath as she saw her wrist. A small black sparrow was inked under the skin, but it seemed to be flying. It spun in intricate patterns, transforming as it did. Butterfly, crow, and back to sparrow. A scream built in Selia's chest as she realized what she had been marked with, but before she could an arrow flew past her, missing her by centimeters.

Valik let out an angry roar as the arrow flew past. Valik sprinted towards the gate, Boothe close behind, cracking the reins. The horse neighed loudly as it went faster and faster. Some of the elves scattered, screaming for their children, others running into buildings. The others shot at them. What the hell is going on? Boothe thought as he witnessed the phenomena. Arrows continued to fly past the three. Valik roared once again when an arrow shot through his left ear. The gates was now in view, but weren't opening. Valik bowed his head, bracing himself for the collision. Suddenly the gate opened and just in time. Sebastian was on his horse controlling the gate. The two guards lay dead on the ground. "Let's go!" he shouted. As they made it through, he pulled at the chain with all his might, closing the gates within a few seconds. "That'll slow them down if they decide to follow." he shouted. He then sprinted along with them. Once deep into the forest, on the hill where they had been on their way to the village, they all stopped. Valik panted. his head then shot up as he looked around. "Where's Valerie?" he raised his voice. "And Ryan?" he added quickly. He walked towards the village a bit on all fours, scanning the grounds.

Ryan's horse came flying from the woods as Valik spoke, almost colliding with him. Valerie clung to Ryan, almost falling as the horse skidded to a jerking halt. Both were breathing heavily. "What happened?" Ryan and Valerie both asked, though their tones were entirely different. Ryan was a cold concern, Valerie a fervent one. Hopping down off the horse, she picked up a herb growing on the ground and placed it around Valik's ear. "It'll scar, but at least this will heal it." She murmured, Ryan's expression softened at Valeries action. He noticed Selia on Valik and held back a smirk.
Selia was shaking by the time Valik had stopped running, and she slid off carefully. Her skin was pale and pulled taunt over her thin frame, making her comparable to an anorexia patient, and her eyes were hollow. The only lively thing about her was the dancing tattoo on her arm, now not just one transforming bird, but also a vine the ran up to her shoulder. Blooming flowers and diving birds all twisted together into a spinning dance of black ink that went along with Selia's heartbeat. Looking up at Valerie and Ryan, Selia blinked hard. "The girl, the poster..." She was barely able to even say this, her body was shaking too much to allow much talk.

Letting out a deep breath, Valik transformed back to human. He smiled at Valerie as a thank you, and made his way to Selia. He examined her arm. "Valerie," he said slowly, in awe by what he was seeing, "what is this?" As he touched Selia's arm, the vine began to spread to climb onto his finger, and he quickly pulled back. "Sebastian!" Boothe suddenly said. "What the hell is on your wrist?" he grabbed Sebastian's wrist. Sebastian quickly pulled away. "Just a scratch," he lied through his teeth. Two bloody, circular puncture wounds were on his wrist. Boothe's nostrils flared as he breathed out. He looked at Selia. Shaking his head slowly, he pursed his lips.

Valerie pursed her lips as she examined Selia's arm, and shook her head. "I have no idea. I've seen this, but everyone just deteriorates then is healed to be better then before, in a new image. It's a good thing in the end, and disappears for most." She said, trying to think of something to compare it to.
Selia's eyes widened at Valerie's explanation. She shook her head. "This is something different Valerie. I'm not trying to undermine your knowledge, but I've seen and had this before. It's Scryre Ink. It's grows, and will forever be here. It's also called Secret's Venom. My father cut it off of me and just had someone heal the scars." She murmured, tracing the blooming roses along her arms and marveling as the vines spread to her other hand and wrapped around her hands, looking like permanent lace gloves with no fingers. It worked it's way up along to her collar bone, circling around the moon that lie there. "It's a defensive curse. I am now pretty much a walking vine whip. Touch me and it will spread to you." She finished simply, standing and backing away from everyone.

Valik's eyes saddened. "There must be some way we can fix this," he breathed out. He looked to Valerie for an answer. "Tell me we can fix this." he raised his voice slightly. Sebastian stared blankly. He was in too much awe to say anything. Boothe did the same, just staring sadly at her.

Selia's eyes hardened. "Of course there is." She said coldly, resenting the pity in their stares. "It's not pleasent, but there is a was to fix this. Reverse cursing or pausing the efects so I can use it as my own controllable weapon." Selia finished, wrapping her arms around her exposed stomach and shivering. The temperature was dropping quickly, and the sky was at the verge of pitch black. The tattoo spread, making a tree like vine starting at her hip and ending at her ribs, the branches swaying slightly.
Valerie nodded with Selia. "I have the essessences in my house, we can get them in the morning. Meanwhile, no one should touch Selia's affected area's." She said, sounding much like the healer she was known for being.
Ryan nodded along with Valerie, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "I'll go with you at dawn. We wouldn't want a huge delay over this." He said, looking at the rising moon and sighing.

Valik shook his head. He ran his hand through his hair, then noticed Selia shivering. He looked up at the sky. "This is ridiculous," he breathed out. He approached Selia and pulled her in his arms, then changed, so his thick fur would keep her warm. Boothe's eyes widened. "Are you crazy?" he yelled at his brother as he hopped from the horse. Valik growled, and Boothe didn't approach. "It shouldn't affect me in this form." he said huskily. Sebastian's jaw clenched. "I'll get some wood," he said as he slid off his horse. Boothe tied the two horses to separate trees and then followed Sebastian with a deep sigh.

Selia pushed weakly against Valik. "Boothe's right Valik. It's not worth the risk." She whispered, blushing from the his action.
Ryan shook his head. "I'm going to help them." He said, kissing Valerie's forehead and running to catch up with Sebastian and Boothe.

Valik still held her tight. "Yes, it is." he said. "Sebastian, wait up!" Boothe called as he quickly limped to him. Sebastian finally turned with flared nostrils and a clenched jaw. "Are ya gonna tell me what the hell that is?" he pointed at Sebastian's wrist. Sebastian rubbed his wrist. Looking down at it, he sighed. "When I was attacking the guards," he began slowly, "the other bit me when I was on one of them." Boothe's head jerked back in shock. "I thought that they are Demon Elves?" he asked, confused. Sebastian shook his head. "The villagers, yes. As for the guards and defense of the village, no." his voice trailed off. Boothe's mouth gaped open. They stood in silence for a few moments. He gulped. "When will the transformation start?" he asked. Sebastian shrugged in reply. Boothe let out a breath. "Will it be painful?" This time, Sebastian replied with a nod. "Very." he replied. Boothe placed his hands on his bald head. He was so unsure of what to do, how to help him. He wondered for a brief moment if it would change Sebastian's behavior or thought process. Boothe tried to read his mind, but Sebastian blocked him from his mind.

Selia sighed, knowing the battle was a lost cause. Looking at Valerie, she half smiled and closed her eyes, leaning again Valik's chest. The birds and blooms stopped moving and growing. Half of her body was decorated in the intricate designs, running from her hand to her shoulder and across to the other, then down her ribs and back, ending at on hip. It was beautiful, yet deadly at the same time. The inky black stood out against her white skin.
Valerie smiled back and sat down. Ryan stood behind, listening in on Sebastian and Boothe. When he heard the conversation, he decided to turn and leave. He walked slowly back to where Valerie was and sat next to her, wrapping his long arms around her waist.

After several minutes, Boothe and Sebastian returned with arm fulls of firewood. After Sebastian set down his pile, he had another coughing attack. He turned from the others as he clutched his chest and gasped for air, trying to be as quiet as possible. Boothe quickly set down his wood and patted Sebastian's back, knowing it was really all he could do. Once Sebastian regained himself, he tended to the wood and made a pile as Boothe went to get things from the horses. Sebastian started up a fire with some fat rocks and tossed them to the side when he got what he needed. He cleared his throat and looked over the fire at the others. Boothe sat by the fire and passed around elven bread and a canteen of water.

Selia pulled her arms to her sides, wrapping them around her waist and falling asleep in minutes. Not longer after, she was snoring quietly. Visions of past events and what was to come played in her dreams. She pushed the visions away to dream of the summer. Warm breezes, lots of light, carnivals, and fire. Fire was everywhere. Selia smiled, pressing her cheek against Valik's chest as she did.
Valerie looked at Sebastian. "If you know why you are coughing, I can pick up the medication to cure it tomorrow as well." She whispered, leaning into Ryan. "It doesn't sound like a normal cough. Almost like it's being forced from your body like a poison." Her eyes never left Sebastian.
Ryan was sleeping, his head laying against Valerie's. He snored loudly, then fall into her lap. Valerie laughed as he landed and woke up, then fell back asleep in seconds.

Sebastian shook his head. "I'm a healer myself. It's okay." he said, not looking into her eyes, only at the bread Boothe had given him. He took a swig from the canteen and passed it back to Boothe. Opening the smooth green leaf the bread was held in, he broke off a piece and chewed slowly. Boothe set the canteen aside. Sebastian knows what it is, and knows how to cure it, he began thinking, so why isn't he doing anything about it? Boothe glanced at Sebastian, but Sebastian still blocked him from his thoughts. With a sigh, he turned to Valerie and held out the elven bread to her and nodded towards it, offering her some. Once Selia fell asleep, Valik eventually closed his eyes and let sleep catch him.
