((BOOYAH 3RD TIMES A CHARM))
Before Astra realized what was happening, she felt her body began to lift by itself, and with a frightened squeak she was lifted upwards. Oh Jack, it was her turn now...would she even make it across? Her thoughts were still stuck on the horrible deaths of the others, and the cries of the ones left behind. With those images in her head, she turned to look at Petro, as well as the other students. "...Please don't get hurt!" she shouted to them, and then glanced at jericho. "..Don't die, you stupid jerk!" she eventually said, before she was carried across.

(( HP: 12 ))
Mac stumbled along with the rest of them when the island shook, trying to protect himself and his nearby friends from the splinters; it was all in vain of course, as they were hit anyway. Just another notch on his list of current pains he thought as he pulled a smaller splinter from his hand, where his coat didn't protect him. Great. Just...Great.
Then, they were offered help to get out; a good thing too, considering that this place was covered in traps. Of course it would be. It would have been fine, had the second student to have attempted to cross not get impaled instead. The Reaper didn't know him, but he had seen him many times throughout this trip; he had no name to call out, and all he could do was stare, his black eyes wide.
Fear started to grip tight in his chest, the rest of his body becoming numb. They had a way out, but...they could die. Painfully, suddenly...just...gone. He didn't realize that Lizzy had already tried to cross, not until her hug pulled him from his wide-eyed stare, and he looked down to see blood.
"You're bleeding." He murmured almost stupidly while returning the hug, listening to her words; he couldn't answer her. He wanted to. He wanted to tell her to stop talking like an idiot and just wait for him by the portal; but he couldn't stop looking at the place where that Nergal boil had been impaled.
That didn't stop him from watching her go with the white-haired person.
His heart stopped when she stumbled.
"NO!"
Mac screamed out, taking a step forward with a bleeding hand shooting out in a futile attempt to try and catch her. He watched as she disappeared into the flames and then, once it had quieted down, he fell to his knees.
Lizzy.
Lizzy.
Stupidly optimistic Lizzy.
Gone.
The Reaper was shaking now, a lump rising in his throat that made talking nearly impossible; his vision blurring with tears that just wouldn't fall. He should have said something to her then, he should have! If he had, maybe she would have been more careful, or maybe fate would have changed it's mind. There was no way he could take back how he treated her in the past; it had been done, and even if he could have gone back to do it over again, he knew himself; he'd act the same, and it would play out as it already did, right up until this point. He stayed where he was, a useless lump on his knees, his head bowed so the brim of his hat hid most of his face...and then the 'Conquest' boil returned, and Mac was on his feet.
"Me Next." He growled out, the strain to keep his voice from breaking clearly evident. There was little glory in staying there, waiting to die because of the loss of a friend. He had to get up, he had to move, and he had to take down everyone responsible. The little tiff he had with Riley earlier solidified this; he was here to protect his friends. He failed with one of them, he was going to get back at them. "You." He pointed at Charlie. "Be careful." The same stress rang in his voice, and he headed to the other side...making it safe and sound.
All that was left, was to watch and wait for Charlie...and to not look at the place where Lizzy and the other boils had died.

The explosion was painful, and but it didn't seem like anyone had been hit too badly. They were at the final stage now, and Jericho could see the portal ahead. And there was Conquest now, uncloaked. So they had to get across this room full of traps to make it home. This sounded like something straight out of a D&H campaign... only it was real.
The dragon's eyes widened as first Sharra vanished... then...
"LIZZY!!" he cried out in horror as he saw her be engulfed in flames. He hoped dearly this was just another jacked up hallucination. But something told him... that wasn't quite the case.
"DAMN YOU! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO SLIP UP!?" he yelled at Conquest; the grief converting straight to pure anger. Somehow he wanted to avenge her but... that was kind of counter intuitive at the moment. He still needed to cross. Closing his eyes, he tried to ease his fury, but it wasn't easy.
"Just take me over dammit," he growled before feeling himself be lifted up and carried across the room safely. Once on the other side, he looked back to where three students have already been claimed. Where were they now...?
Making his way towards Riley, he grimaced and looked back once again to see who still needed to cross...

Bare arms rose to shield sensitive eyes from the blinding FEARsplosion, instinctive as it was, the movement helped prevent the splinters from embedding onto Petro's face. The rest of him, given his lack of clothing, was not so lucky. He fell to his knees with a grunt, gritting his teeth past the stinging pain of fresh wounds and the dull throbbing of old bruises, barely able to keep himself from collapsing entirely. He was visibly bleeding now, the thin cut across his chest having reopened from the battle.
But none of that mattered when this new figure appeared. The new comer had offered to help them get through and started with Mandy. The tikbalang would have sighed in relief until the first of the students fell victim to a trap. He didn't know the nergal boil well but to watch a comrade, someone he'd fought with, die right in front of him, knowing that this wasn't a mere inconvenience of FEAR particles scattering, Petro's voice caught in his throat.
In stunned silence he watched, and waited for his turn as the others managed to get through safely. Until Lizzy fell.
He was on his feet, charging forward in a vain attempt to catch her. He wasn't fast enough. He was too far from her. His bad leg slowed him down. So many things that kept him from saving her. All of them he'd call excuses. None of it mattered because in the end, all he could do was howl out in agony as she burned.
Weak and badly injured, the tikbalang looked nothing like the noble guardian he aspired to be. Just a lame horse that ought to be put to sleep. "Y' gonna try and kill me, next?"
Ironic that he would survive.
He turned to the others that had made it, sorrow was clearly etched on his tanned features and glistening in his standing tears. Furiously, he wiped at his eyes with the back of his hand, suddenly unable to look at his fellow students. Survivor's guilt, perhaps?

((DEAD))
Charlie didn't even pay attention to what ever Mac had just said.
Maybe it was the shock of seeing Lizzy suddenly there then not. Maybe it was because Charlie hadn't listened to a word the new comer had just said about being careful. But the pink haired demon found him self on his feet running to where Lizzy had just died.
Out of carelessness from his grief the demon triggered the same trap and also met the same scorching fire trap that Lizzy just had. There was no body after such exposure to fire. Only a few ashes. At least he would be with Lizzy to protect her in death.

Sepheran huffed lightly having used the last of his strength in his attack. He wasn't sure what was going on now, something about someone taking them to the portal...and traps.
The call of Lizzy's name made his heart stop stepping forward lightly he hardly noticed the triggering of a trap until it was too late

No...no it wasn't true right? Lizzy wasn't...dead...
She'd appear somewhere right...she can't possibly...no...he didn't want to think of it...Lizzy...his first friend made in the school who he didn't know previously...
In his grief he tripped up yet another trap though he didn't seem to care about getting pummeled.

Clenching his fists Sepheran scolded himself for being so useless. He let Lizzy down...he would believe...it was the only thing he could do. He would believe she had somehow made it...after all there was a lot of illusions...maybe her death was just another one...yeah...that's what he'd believe...he wasn't about to admit that she would fall and die so easily.
Bloodied, weak, and breathing heavily Sepheran lifted his arm to the air, "I'm...next," Sepheran stated. Well there was only one thing he could do for Lizzy...try to survive. And it seemed lucky that he too managed to get across safely despite his wounds.

"CHARLIE!"
Mac yelled out, the loudest he had ever been so far; he watched Lizzy die, and now...now Charlie was gone. His Best Friend. Part of the reason he even came to the Academy. Gone. Both of his friends were gone, and he was alone with strangers. Aquaintences. They were nice enough, sure, but they weren't...they weren't his close friends. In a span of ten minutes, he lost everything he had been here to protect.
He failed.
When did he end up on his knees again? He couldn't tell; all feeling in his body seemed to have grouped heavily in his chest, weighing down on his heart while his limbs felt numb and lifeless. With one more slow, forward slump he found himself staring through blurry eyes at the ground, barely propping himself up on his arms, still sitting back on his heels. His entire body trembled and the only sounds he emitted were the low, choking breaths as he tried to not completely break down.
He failed. They were gone.
He really had no more reasons to keep going.

Petro couldn't help but turn towards Mac as the reaper boil yelled out for the pink-haired boil that had run to the spot where Lizzy died. The thought of the spider demoness made his chest ache and his fists itch to beat on something. Brown eyes shot a menacing glare at Conquest, but there wasn't anything the tikbalang could do about it. And truthfully, if he'd been given the chance, he would have tried to slug the new-comer. He still wanted to. He didn't care if it meant his own death.
But that wouldn't bring Lizzy back.
Lizzy had been his herd leader, whether or not she knew about it, and even with Riley taking the lead, Petro would have sided with the spider demoness. So why was he here, mechanically approaching Mac? And why, for reasons he didn't know, possibly didn't even have, did he mutter to the reaper, "She clung to y' a lot." His tone held no malice, just stating an observation with an undertone of exhaustion and heartache.

The Reaper was too far gone in his little well of misery to notice or acknowledge a bare, slightly singed foot that entered his line of rather blurry vision. At least, of course, until he heard a voice; despite how close Petro was, it seemed very far away in Mac's opinion. Very far away indeed.
"Like...Like a...jackin' leech." He answered almost fondly, still struggling to keep his voice even thoug he did slip up a little bit. There was an obvious sorrow to his voice, a heartache that was clearly shared with the Tikbalang and every one else who had lost a friend. The Reaper still didn't make a move to get up, and stayed sitting on his knees, his torso slumped forward.
Petro's comment had been a welcome one; it broke into that wall of hopeless he'd built up around him, but even then...he really had nothing else to say.

Arachne continued to cry for a time, allowing Riley to hold her, as she mourned the bright ghoul that she had been lucky enough to call a friend. She shuddered, wincing at Riley's angry words, but they echoed what she could say if she had will to speak right then.
After a while she slowly pulled away, her tears drying for the moment, leaving her with an aching head, the rest of her feeling numb. She looked at the platform edge, watching as a few more students made it, anger and sorrow stamped on their faces. And then Sepheran. She felt a surge of relief...and then guilt for feeling that way when Elizabeth hadn't made it, and she looked at him, not knowing what to say.

Petro folded his bleeding and bruised arms across his equally bleeding and bruised chest, "Can't say I know how it 's," he tried to smile but failed. "He shoulda been more careful," he snorted, eyes darting towards Conquest, "With everyone. 'Specially Lizzy." His foot pawed at the ground, in an agitated manner akin to a bull about to charge. "Shouldn'tve been her that went."
The muscles in his arms and legs tense, his chest expanding with each deep, frustrated breath he took. Battles aren't always fair. Y' just gotta deal, isn't that what he told Astra? So why aren't you dealing with it, Petro?
"'S so stupid!" He yelled.

Another one was gone now. Looking away from the traps, Jericho was fighting against the storm of emotions that was coursing through him. He didn't want to have to really see these people die. It was bad enough as a hallucination already.
Questions zipped through his mind as he stared towards the ground. Could he have done anything to save them? He could fly after all... But would that have really made a difference? The dragon didn't know. Out of frustration and sorrow he roared out and punched the nearest wall.
Why had they come here in the first place..
