Smiling at her, he led her out into the hall, closing the door behind them. They could just go to the school cafeteria, it did have rather nice food, but the inn would be more cozy on a day like this. His warmth could keep his beloved warm until they reached Moline. "Then it is off we go." Arm in arm, the man and woman set off to Moline.

It was a little after lunch that Pyralis strolled up to Anna's office. Knocking to announce himself, he went in, already knowing there was no one but his love inside. "Good day my love." He shut the door behind him. Walking over and kissing Anna gentley, he laid a real golden rose on her desk. Pyralis smiled lovingly at the petite elf. "For you, my dearest Annabelle."

The two had been back from his homeland for a few days now, catching up on school work. Pyralis was attired in his scholarly clothing at the moment: brown dress pants, a white button up shirt, a red tie, and a brown jacket to match the pants. The jacket was left unbuttoned, and the tie was loosened with the top buttons of his shirt undone. It had been a busy morning. His silver-white haird had been tied back with the usual leather thong.

He arrived at his love's office today at her bidding. She had mentioned that they needed to discuss some matter or another, but had yet to mention exactly what it was. Curious, he waited now after offering the rose.

Anna had been elbow-deep in paper work, as she almost always was when they returned from these adventures. As exciting and wonderful as they were (the last one even more so since they had become engaged), Anna sorely disliked the return home and all it held.

Upon Pyralis' entrance, though, her head popped up and held a bright smile. "Pyralis!" she said, always with the same happy tone as if nothing better could have come through her door. And really, that was the truth.
The rose placed upon her desk was certainly breathtaking. Anna's archaeological know-how told her that the rose was solid, real gold upon touch, making her gasp and wonder at how he was able to afford parting with such a treasure.

"Thank you," Anna said, giving it a place of honor amongst the books lining her dustless shelf. Once she had given him a kiss and a long, tight hug, Anna revealed just what she had wanted him there for.

"Pyralis, either to your dismay or not, I have arranged for us to go to my home in Riverway Valley to meet a part of my family, and to see how this engagement will be taken." She offered a plucky smile to say that this should be interesting, but her intentions were already made clear: she was marrying this man, whether they liked it or not.

There wasn't anyone else, in this world or any other, that could make Pyralis as happy as Anna made him. Even so, this news was not the best. Her smile melted his heart, but his brain went on high alert as his smiled faltered. Taking her hand, he gentley pulled her to sit by him on the couch. "So soon? I really don't want you to fall behind in your paperwork. We could wait just a little longer until everything is in order once more..." There was nothing in his argument that could make her change her mind, and he knew it. Pyralis would have to face her family sooner or later. It was obviously going to be sooner rather than later. Sighing in defeat before his love even had to offer another side to the argument, Pyralis met her gaze with is own. "When do we leave?"

Anna smiled at her victory. It seemed all she had to do was feel determined, and he would relent.
"Tomorrow morning. I know it is sudden, but my father has to leave soon for a journey to meet a colleague, and it is the only time we might catch him. He could be gone for months, and we do need his consent... maybe."

She laughed at the idea of anyone telling her not to do something at her age. Although she was still considered young and looked younger than she was, Anna was very rebellious of such things. It was her life, after all.

"Do not worry, dearest. We'll be running in the forest and seeing the land and my memories so much that the family will have to wait at times." Her hand cupped his cheek and stroked the markings upon his face. Anna could feel his jitters as if they were her own, and indeed some of them were. But, he had more to fear.

He knew Anna was determined to marry him no matter what, but he did want her family's approval. He didn't want to be the big bad beast stealing her away. Pyralis wanted them to like him.

His hand reached up to cover Anna's as she stroked the markings on his face. "As long as you are by my side, then all is well. Tomorrow morning it is." Taking her hand, he kissed it, then kissed her and stood. "I will get things in order and see you shortly, A'mael." With a longing look at her, he bowed and left the office. There were papers of his own that he had to finish and then he would need to pack a few things for the trip. At least he was excited and intrigued by the stories he was sure Anna would tell him of her home. Pyralis would finally see where his love had grown up as the curious child she must have been.

Tomorrow it would be then. Anna sent him a loving thought before his form slipped past the door frame. She took her place once more behind her desk to finish her own work, but the butterflies in her stomach wouldn't let her think clearly for all the things they would see in the upcoming days.

Packing, though, was going to be difficult, as she always travelled with books heavier than her clothing. The only perk was that she was going home, and wouldn't need so much as her room there contained almost everything she needed.

A tall, well-muscled man walked down the hallway at a casual pace. Wearing black slacks and dark red shirt with his white hair pulled back in a low ponytail, the man had a scholarly air about him. He came to a stop in front of Annabelle's door.

He kept one hand behind him, holding a package out of site of whoever opened the door, he knocked several times. It had been a week since he'd been away working in the Realms. For once he had returned with no major injuries, only a small cut on his right palm that was properly bandaged.

So it was, having just arrived, that there was no other desire stronger than that which demanded he see the most beautiful woman in the world. Normally he would have just walked inside as he knocked to announce himself. It killed him to wait, but he wanted to supprise her.

Inside, Annabelle was doing humdrum paperwork. It was something that came with the job, and she was not about to complain. She'd done much more difficult tasks while in the Realms, but she did miss the constant movement and excitement of that place.
At least she still had her books. Within those pages, she could in a way go home and see the sights she missed so much. Unlike Pyralis, Anna's work didn't call her so often back to their world. Just thinking of his dangerous journeys made her cringe on the inside.

But almost as soon as she began worrying over him and wondering how he was, a knock came at the door. Anna rose from her chair and soundlessly made her way towards it.
"Coming!" she called out, and with a gentle pull on the knob, revealed just who was on the other side.

Her heart positively leapt.
"Pyralis!" she said breathlessly. He was looking just as he had when he'd left a week ago. A part of her always expected to see him with a black eye or new scar, but he seemed quite whole. In a moment, Anna was embracing him tightly with her face buried in the folds of his shirt.
How I've missed you, A'mael.

I have missed you too, A'mael.

Pyralis held her tightly to him, embracing her with warmth. He kissed the top of her head and then released her. Smiling and leaned down and kissed her gently. "You remain more beautiful than the most precious pearl of the sea, Anna."

Pulling her gently by her hand, he led her to sit on the couch where he placed the present in her lap. Pyralis tucked a lock of hair behind Anna's ear and kissed her on the cheek, whispering to her. "A gift for my most cherished treasure."

(I'm still trying to think of a gift. You can put something in your post or I'll describe it in the next -_^)

((I think I found something... maybe. xD ))

Feeling his kisses again made her blush come slightly. He could make her happy with just a hug and a smile, and yet there he was handing her presents to cherish.
"Pyralis, you are always so wonderful..." she whispered as her fingers found the opening to the packaging. Anna peeled back everything, and revealed a lovely
journal, made with such care and craftsmanship that her breath caught in her chest.

"Oh, a'mael, it's gorgeous... and I needed another journal, too. These pages will be filled in no time at all!"
She turned her smiling face to him, beaming with all this sudden good fortune. Anna took his face in her hands to kiss his markings and finally his lips. As much as she did adore her present, he was the true gift of her day.
A few more kisses later, Anna smiled and broke away.
"You always seem to spoil me after you return from your travels... tell me, how did they go? Are you hurt this time?"

((Pretty!!!))

Pyralis smiled, watching his love open her gift. Her enthusiasm was adorable, and he couldn't help but to chuckle a bit. She would indeed fill the pages quickly with all the thoughts in her head.

Of course she would inquire about injuries right away given that he was notorious for coming back with some wound that would leave a new scar. He showed her his bandaged palm. "Only this. I ran into some very unfriendly creatures along the way. I've drawn up a few sketches to log away for future study. They were unfamiliar, but nothing to take great notice of yet. I was careless and recieved a slice from one of thier claws." The creatures had been interesting, but as he had said, unworth the trouble of tracking yet. The more important part was what he went on the say. "Everything went quite well, really. The gnomes are agreeing to place even stricter rules on those entering the human world. They don't seem fond of the guidelines, but they agree to the necessity of them."

As she listened to him, Anna reached over and gently took his wrist above his bandages. She was a healer, after all, and if she could prevent another scar on him, she would.

Anna took the bandages off very carefully, as if unraveling them might break his very hand. She was always gentle like that with other people, even when the wound wasn't that great.
"Think of how many conflicts you are preventing, or people you are helping... You do your job very well, and I'm so proud of you." Indeed, with all his successes, Anna couldn't say she'd rather he stayed with her all the time. Not when he was so needed elsewhere.

With the wound exposed, Anna began channeling her energy towards her palms and fingertips. Now she could take her thumb and forefinger to either side of the wound and gently bring the sides closer together. A small cut would heal fast, but Anna took her time. The elf would never rush along healing unless it was called for.

"It seems everyone is getting hurt," she said with a smile as her magic soothed and treated his cut. As she spoke, her voice grew softer, and her eyes took on a distant look as if she were seeing something else than his cut. "This week I had to take off running across campus to heal two students. One of those happened just this morning. I keep telling them all to be careful with their abilities, but there are always those few who have that young overconfidence..."

She experienced it herself still, though a human's youngness and hers were quite different things.

When the cut was healed, Pyralis took her face in his hands and kissed her forehead. "You are amazing, A'mael. I know you can keep those kids safe." Pulling back, he laughed warmly. "You would have hated me as a young buck." Laughing whole-heartedly, he pulled her into a warm embrace so that she was sitting on his lap. "I'll have to admit, I would have been injured much more as a child if only you had been my nurse."

Though he joked, he did take what Anna had said with seriousness. It was dangerous to have so many young ones with powers all in one place. Keeping them together was a necessity for now, but it had to be done with care. It would be so easy to have a true catastrophe hurt the school from inside just through a careless student accident. "As the year goes on, they'll gain more control. It just takes time and understanding. I'm sure they've far from experienced that outside of this place."

Anna began laughing as she was pulled from her seat to his lap in one strong pull. He always made her feel as though she were as weightless as a butterfly.
"But I was healing myself just as often as I would have been healing you!" she exclaimed. "I got into just as much trouble."
Anna snuggled her side against him and rested her cheek upon his shoulder. It had only been a week, but how she missed being warm and held close, and kissed every time she did something well. At times it seemed almost childish, but Anna thrived on knowing she had the approval of those she loved and respected.
"But you are right... they will learn. Even if it takes me racing across campus every blessed day to scold them."

Already Anna looked tired from it all, but the excitement of Pyralis being home again helped mask it. "How long have you been here? Have you eaten, are you tired?"
