Rune coughed and gave Sam a glare. "*cough* I'll tale you up on that offer later..." she managed to get out as he got her out of the house and onto the street. Once she was out of Sam's arms, she managed to stand up and take a few deep breathes to clear her lungs. "That feels much better..." she muttered, before turning to Sam, "thank you for saving me though." Rune added.
She then looked around wondering what was going on, but didn't have to wait long for an answer as she suddenly saw Allure nail Salem with her sword and he went flying to the side. "....crap exactly what did I miss?" she said to herself as she watched her friend go up to Salem and talk to him.

Cobra_X Cobra had been content after his and Ace's original scare to let them run off to their superiors. Being a man of peace more or less, he had no need or want to kill, but when he saw Salem corrode through one of the Soldier's helmets and drain his life, he rushed forward to stop him, only to be cut short by Allure who had the same idea. Cobra really had no idea who this man was on the ground, but from the looks of it, he seemed to be a necromancer of sorts, someone who Cobra would have considered opposite spectrum to himself...a corrupter of life. His judgment was harsh, but it was internal. He held his concerns behind his mostly hidden face and approached with Allure and looked down at the dead guard with sorrow. "Every time this happens they become more and more right about people who wield elemental powers. You sir need to control yourself. I don't know much about you, but Allure must trust you for some reason, but if I see you even reaching out to another person in this way again, rest assured I'll do what I have to do to stop you. I won't sit idly by as you suck the life from people...I don't care if your friend or foe...no one deserves that."You can't take the sky from me. Salem nodded. " We all have our demons sir, be content I am in control of mine. as for the draining, I need only do so once a month maybe twice if I over exert myself. None of which, I plan to be human. You speak as though you believe I might enjoy puling the life from things. Let me clarify that I do not sir. Do you know what it is like to die? I shouldn't expect you do, but I do, Ive died before, and do everytime I pull the life from something, I feel that thing's death as though it where my own. So please sir act not like I do this for my amusement, and if you would be so kind, do try and kill me. Many have tried, none have succeeded. I would honestly welcome my own death so please sir go right ahead, Do what you have to do to stop me, for I will need to feed again. And it will be just as unpleasant as it is now. "

"In control?", Cobra scoffed audibly and his voice showed clear agitation, "I wouldn't call the blatant homicide of a guard 'In Control'. Had you any real credence that kept your morals in check, you'd have let that man go and gotten your energy from something else. You say it pains you to drain people and that you only need do so once a month, and yet, in the ONE instance I've seen you drain someone of energy, you immediately turned to the other and seemed perfectly content to repeat the action until allure knocked it out of you. You would think that one who has been alive for so long would have learned how to control their temper a little bit better, especially when there are such grave consequences to losing it."
Cobra continue to stare at the man coldly. His very life essence seemed to be dependent on what Cobra had been dedicated to destroying within himself for years. To sustain oneself on death was a miserable existence, and he knew it. "I also never said I'd kill you, I just said I'd stop you. If you are unable to die, I would imagine that being unable to move or die would be infinitely worse. Keep yourself in control or I'll do it for you. It's a fair warning."

Sam coughed loudly, as Rune jumped from his arms, and looked at Salem "pleasure" he said and smiled, he then turned to Cobra and his expression became deadly serious "It's these internal conflicts YOU seem to have trouble controlling. Are we not all allies here? Are we not all friends? To me, a few quibbles of the past mean nothing in the present. But that's me, I live in the now, not the past, I tried that once." He said and stepped back, scanning the skies and ledges of the roofs "speaking of which, where is he?" he asked and began searching the streets.
Erin stared at Salem and stepped forward "I think I can kill you" she said and looked at her gloved hand "you and I, we seem to be opposite. You are death, I am life." she said and nodded "should the need arise, I will deal with you" she added and joined Sam, who simply shook his head and muttered something under his breath.

He said and stepped back, scanning the skies and ledges of the roofs " speaking of which, where is he?" he asked and began searching the streets. "A few quibbles of the past?" , Cobra turned and said with an annoyed tone. He then pointed his finger at the dead man in the middle of the road who had just had his life force sucked out of him... "Is this the past to you? because from my perspective, it just happened...AND didn't have to! That's the whole point. Don't look at me like I'm the one causing trouble here, I'm simply holding people accountable to their actions. When I tossed your little friend there out of the house, it's because she was being a nuisance and needed to be taught that she couldn't run amok in a house that wasn't her own. And I'm certainly not the one who killed this guard. My actions have meaning, I'm trying to save our image in this city and people are going crazy and killing flippantly." Sam then seemed to simply walk away without care of hearing a rebuttal...but it wasn't worth Cobra's breathe, so he shook his head and turned back to Salem.

Sam stood up and looked at Cobra "you think me blind? I saw, barely, what he did. But it's all water under the bridge? Why cry over it now?" he asked and took a step forward. He turned to look at Salem briefly, then turned back to Cobra "what I see, is a man who risked his, and our, existence to save us. I'm bloody thankful he did that when he did. Albeit, I'll be having nightmares for the next few years but he's still an ally." he said and stepped closer to Cobra "all I see in you is a man who has to nitpick every stupid little thing he can simply because HE CAN" he added and pointed at Erin "and I never said she was a friend, she just started following us. And from my view, she just wanted out. is that "running amok"? " he said and leaned forward, into Cobra's face, and placed his hand on the mans shoulder "learn to live in other people's perspective's, not just your own. And besides, people will eventually hold themselves responsible for their actions. It's evident that our friend here has simply acclamated himself to his suffering? Hmm? Some people just have a higher pain tolerance than others. This is someone else, not you." he said and leaned back, removing his hand "just a bit of advice friend" he said and turned back to scanning the alleyway.

Cobra simply folded his arms in front of him, burying his hands in his sleeves as Sam placed his hand on his shoulder in order to add emphasis to his words. He waited patiently, but was unconvinced in his argument. when Sam was finally done Cobra replied in a clam tone, apparently having decided to calm himself and try to impart some wisdom to the faulty logic...
"Water under the bridge, right? Forgiven and forgotten...that's the way to make peace right?...wrong. If everyone forgot what had occurred in the past, they would be no recounting for it not to happen again in the future. You're telling me to live in someone else's perspective right? Fine...allow me to demonstrate." Cobra said or did nothing for about 15 seconds, only staring blankly at Sam until he started to get a weird look..."Don't get it yet?, he said to Sam as he continued to stare, "That was silence. I was in the dead man's shoes. Another life lost and destroyed when it didn't need to be. These guards have no power over us. They'd be lucky if they were able to scratch us, even when they try to kill us, it's a mild inconvenience at best, and yet there he lays. Gone forever, silent for the rest of time. How's that for someone else's perspective?"
Cobra waited a few more seconds, standing in silence for a bit longer, allowing what he said to sink in before saying anything further..."People do not hold themselves accountable. We are unable. We depend on others to hold us accountable to our actions. If you knew anything about me, you'd know that it rings true more for me then anyone else. So don't lecture me on how life works, I know all too well. I "cry" about these things because they shouldn't be happening, just because he's an ally, doesn't mean I pardon his actions. Murder is never an acceptable action. If it can be avoided, it should be at all times."

You can't take the sky from me. Salem Looked to Sam. " Thank you for defending me friend, but it is not required. If Cobra has such a problem with what Ive done, then I shall undo it..." Salem walked to the drained form of the dead guard and grabbed his throat once again, lifting him into the air, Salem's eyes again shined over a glossy black. The man's skin grew less taunt on his leathery face, his muscle's and eyes plumped back to their original state as Salem returned the energy which he had taken from the man. The man Gasped heavily for air as he started to breath again, a look of terror in his eyes. Salem set him on his feet and smiled, leaning heavily on his cane again.
The man staggered back a foot or two and drew a small dagger. before anyone could react he lunged forth and plunged the dagger deep into Salem's chest. Salem just stood and shook his head, he closed his eyes and sighed heavily before pointing the way the other guards had gone and said coldly. " Go. Now." The man, horrified that Salem was still standing, just nodded and ran off after the other guards.
Salem just left the blade where it sat and turned to Cobra, and said nothing just raised his eye brows and looked at the dagger.

Cobra watched almost in amazement at the scene, knowing more or less what Salem would do from his actions, but still not believing it as he watched. As the guard ran away, Cobra watched him, then looked at the dagger, then back at Salem, then the guard again, then the dagger, then Sam, then Salem again...
"Well Fine. But this is a special case!...and my point still stands. You however, have won the 'Most interesting person I've ever met' award., Cobra said as he looked at Salem, "I still stand by what I said though. Unnecessary killing is wrong no matter how you look at it. Especially when it works to incriminate us when we shouldn't otherwise had been incriminated in the first place. We need to be careful with our actions so that we don't turn into the monsters that we are being called."

You can't take the sky from me. Salem nodded and looked down at the ground. " Some of us however... are the monsters they fear... I do not relish in my need to feed, but it is necessary. I can only keep the best within me in check if I am at full capacity, what I have just done, is effectively break some of the chains holding it down. But my mind is at ease knowing that man will go home to see his family tonight..." He looked at the dagger, just leaving it where it was, he'd do something about it later he just didn't have the energy. He looked back up at Cobra. " I just want you to understand, these killings, though they may not seem necessary to you, keep my will strong enough I can keep the beast in check, when I run too low on energy like I was before I drained that guard. The beast can get loose and take over as it almost did. The lives of the many outway the few... Through the deaths of one or two people, thousands get to live another day. That may not seem right to you but it is what it is..."

Sam stood up, holding a small white bird in his hands, and looked to Cobra "we have awards for that now?" he asked and looked back to the bird. Looking back to Salem he chuckled lightly "I was just about to say that." he said and laughed walking into the ruins of the house.
Erin sighed heavily and sheathed her sword. Not knowing what to do next she stepped toward Cobra and smiled "what exactly do you... do... anyway?" she asked and crossed her arms.
((true story: I was just about to say that same thing, Karr...))

Rune made her way over to Allure as she watched Cobra and Sam argue a bit, with Erin tossing in her opinion into the talk. "Well this confrontation is turning out brilliantly, isn't it?" Rune said looking at Allure before turning her head away to cough a bit. "damn...throat's still a bit dry..." she muttered.

((Just a couple things I caught: 1. Cobra and Sam, watch your control of other characters. Cobra had Sam act in an entirely different way then he did in his post(confusing? Ask me and I'll attempt to clearify) Sam, you mearly touched Cobra so it's not a big thing...Just saying the same to you since your character was the one wrongly controled. Again, really, non of this is a big thing but I feel it good to mention before to much mistake control is had. 2. Karr used NCPs without permission but I really do not see a problem again. It may be time to start allowing people to start using them again. Also, Cobra was around which is why I can't overlook this.
Cobra, you think enough time has past and enough control regained to allow others to use NCPs again? My opinion would be yes but I'd like your view.))
Allure turned to Cobra and her eyes were a near black as she spoke both to relate to something he said earlier and explain something Sam asked a while ago.
"I believe Sol showed us the result of acting like true monsters. Sam, he is no longer with us. He lost control and...I did exactly what Cobra detests. I ended his life. I've yet to make amends but I aim to. From my view, there was no other option. He became truely fearful...
To act like the monsters they think we are is only to ruin any chance we have of ever being accepted. We were accused wrongly, but confirming past judgement is not going to help the situation in the least. That is all I wish to say on the matter."
She noticed Sam heading back into the house and another issue came to mind.
"This place clearly is no longer safe. I care not for your discussion as of now. We need find somewhere safe. There was just a fire and two terrified guards ran off....the whole city should take notice within moments."
She gazed up to the dark sky and continued,
"The smoke is still rising. Anyone know of a safe haven? We're bound to be noticed shortly otherwise....and I doubt people would take kindly to us."
Allure looked to Rune who approached and responded sarcastically,
"Ah, indeed."
She considered something that may be of aid to Rune.
"If you think you can handle to cold then a might be able to help you. Trust me, sit down so we are not noticed, and tilt your head back with your mouth open. I think I should be able to manage this."
Allure was worn out at this point. Luckily, she kept her eyes on the goal. Having realized the danger of their current situation and how manay of them were not in a good state, she saw no option but to take cover for a time.

"The inns are out since that would probably be the first place they'd look besides the house..." Rune said, "maybe heading out of town?" The fairy rubbed her throat. "Uh sure, I can handle a bit of cold..." Rune said as she tilted her head back and opened her mouth.

"The inns are out. Indeed, what you said is true. Either we need find a place they are unaware of for a time...though I can't imagine 'living' there or we need flee the city immediately...I know of no place that I feel secure enough besides...perhaps the ones Salem showed me earlier."
Allure worked to ease Rune throat. She knelt down as Rune did and used the shadows of the others in hopes it would be enough to hide her power usage. Now was indeed the worst time to use them openly but it was dark and her power usage was minor.
She placed both hands above Rune's open mouth and held them a few inches apart. Much concentration was required to do this perfectly so Rune wouldn't choke on a stray piece but ice formed in the area between her hands.
A piece of ice slightly larger than the size of one of hands formed. Allure held it in place with wind control and the ice melted much more rapidly than normal. Water began falling into Rune's mouth. Not a large amount but a decent one. Hopefully enough to ease her throat.
