"Noted on the nicknames." Though he had to smirk, it seemed that he wouldn't be the one picked on mostly since there were already a few who were placed in hat position. "Well I'm glad to hear that, at least then I don't need to worry bout screwing up first impressions when I meet them." Though a look to Rennell and he grinned. "I bet hes been called worse. It's not that harsh, I think." Though he then made a face and shook his head. "Hey, I just briefly saw them and I don't even want that image in my head, careful what you say there." Though Adam paused for a moment then looked around a bit. "Yeah, I was wondering what was missing. I'm a little surprised you guys don't have kids around here."

"Hardass dating the crazy lady."
Yes, there was James, behind Rennell and looking down at him with his arms crossed, smirking lightly.
"I think I'm going to look forward to watching you squirm this time."
glancing at Jelena...they had both walked in after seeing Erik, but weren't away of the company they were keeping until they entered. but a look over at the new kid...eye going red and scanning over him for a biological id that would read out his information for him in his head.
"As for you. Call me that again, and I'll make sure you don't say another word for a month because your jaw will get wired shut."
"yes, yes...forms for the fishtank and any other parts or components you might need. I'll get them pushed through as fast as they can be pushed through even if I have to steal a rubber stamp."
shrugging lightly though at his suggestion.
"It's possible. but then we'd need to find what it uses it for. last thing we need is for it to be some kind of boobytrap."

"Now, now, James, be nice. He's all shiny and new and doesn't need you acting like the big bad wolf yet." Taking a sip of her iced tea and consulting the menu. "Eric, you're splitting a piece of double chocolate cake with me."
She shrugged at their childishness over the baby comment and took a few more bites of her salad. "It's a big decision to make. A child born up here would probably never see earth and there's no other children to play with. We haven't even had a wedding in the time I've been up here. We're really not trying to pair everyone off and start families. Most of us are loners." Gesturing to the waitress and ordering the cake.
"But, we can always ask them. Jelly, how come you aren't renting space to a little JJ yet?"

He jumped a little at the voice and sheepishly turned a look over his shoulder to the couple. “Um…yes?” Giving a pout at the words back and he knew he was going to be involved in several things he didn’t want to be. Less play and more work as well. Luckily, the man’s attention quickly shuffled to Adam. “Aw you’ve been officially threatened with broken things. Congratulations.”
"I'm not arguing you about cake." Though this one asked the most interesting questions and he followed up on Lillia's deductions. "Despite the fact that she hasn't even been here for two years she has her points. We're all reclusive scientists who on occassion get horny, to put it bluntly. Most of us are so wrapped up in work we hardly look at other people in that way anyway. There are a few married couples, Noris has conducted a few ceremonies but children just aren't really suited for here. They demand a lot of attention."
“I prefer eccentric to crazy. I’m only crazy on Tuesdays between 10am and 5pm." Shrugging lightly and blinking at her youngest assistant. "You all and your names." Crossing her arms with a little sniff. "Because I'm quite certain that I'm far too stressful of a person to harbor life within myself. That and my biological clock shut down a long time ago in terms of want. I have kids already anyway." Smirking, "And as we say in Fleet: There are no accidents." It was a phrase that suited everything well. Hooray medical science.
Swiveling over to a computer station on his stool, he went about clicking at keys, pulling up all the right forms and what not and starting to fill them in quickly. “Well, my mind first wants to go that perhaps the extra is used for weapon ammunition and such enhancement. Or you’re right it could be like a defense mechanism. Electrical net around him.”

James got a small grin and rubbed his chin lightly.
"A little JJ. You know that doesn't sound like a bad idea come to think of it. and think about it. we have three built in babysitters."
smirking lightly at them, before resting his hands on rennell's shoulders.
"Jessica will be wanting to see you soon. she's been working on something special in R&D for you apparently. and speaking of development. We need to get the envision labs ready for work."
grinning lightly, yep, he got Jellybean to at least agree to something.
"He does have arc tasers, so that might work but I think even with those the excess is more then they'd use. it's probably some kind of secondary defensive system we just haven't run into or uncovered yet. or maybe a back generator or something in the cranium or spine areas to keep power in emergencies..like EMP or something. provided he's got shielding in those spots."

Adam blinked and turned around to see Frankenstein's monster standing there, and Adam had to wonder how a seven foot man who was half machine manage to sneak up on them like that. "Alright." And first impressions were gone, yay. But he had some immunity as long as he kept his mouth trained shut. "Thanks Rennell." Still a look over to Lillia and he gave a small smile, it was nice that she stuck up for him. "Don't worry, I'll be making gadgets that will get me into trouble and make you forget bout that name." Chuckling to that as he took another sip of his orange juice as people commented on his baby question, and even asked the proclaimed jellybean when she arrived on the spot.
When Adam turned around to look at her he realized she was the woman who went with the monster to the flight deck. So she...and him, were together? "Hello, it is nice to meet you Dr...?" Since he had not done anything to get a threat from her yet it was better to play it simple. A look to Lillia and Eric though. "I see, well I think maybe one day there will be some little ones running around, not in the close future mind you but someday, parent instincts will kick in sooner or later." He gave a shrug and ate some more fries, at least his hunger had settled down.

"Dr. Jelena Trevale, Project Leader of Echo, meet Adam Pike...new techie, I guess." Giving a grin as her chocolate cake arrived with minimal fuss and she picked up a fork and dug in, pushing the plate between her and Eric. She just couldn't finish it by herself and there was no sense in wasting perfectly good food.
"Pawn your spawn off on me, James, and don't be surprised when you have the happiest-go-luckiest kiddie on Fleet. Rennell and I'll take good care of him or her." Giving an evil grin to that. It was common knowledge that neither Jelena nor James could stand overly happy people for long. "Eric's nice and normal though. No bad influence there."
Pike got a smirk. "I think my biological clock shut down long ago if I ever had one in the first place. You're rather concerned about this, though, does that mean you'll be sowing your seeds on Fleet?"

James got punched in the arm. The fleshy one. "Don't you go getting any ideas." Smiling however as Lillia decided to giev proper introductions. "As you can tell, much too long to fit on a business card. But nice to meet you all the same." Tilting her head as they continued on the silly subject. "Besides kids put their little hands into everything and I don't want to be responsible for such things as lost fingers and what not.
Helping Lillia eat cake her gave a raise of an eyebrow at the two. Nevermind the unexplained flight suit one was wearing as the other news was far more interesting. "We have to get the labs back up and running?" Had he heard right? "But yeah I'm pretty normal."
Rennell gave a downtrodden look at his own message. "What? Who knows what she has in store. Someone hold me and make the bad things go away." Frightening thought indeed.

Adam blinked then smiled a little bit. "Well that's alright, Dr. Frankenstein. Besides up here, your work is your business card so to speak." A look to James then. "And no I did not say that to refer to what I said earlier." Chuckling a little as he turned back to Jelena. "Still, it is nice to meet you Dr. Trevale."
But it seemed that Lillia had to poke about his comment and so he turned to her with a smirked that matched her own as he leaned in forward a bit. "Well I'm only twenty-four so I don't see the need to "sow my seeds" as you put it Lillia. I am just wondering how the older couples would ever react to the baby urges they may get really." He then ate another fry before looking back at her. "But are you sure your clock as stopped ticking? Never thought of having a child somewhere down the line?"

He looked over at her punch, and rubbing his arm lightly.
"That stung there. and I can think all the thoughts I want to. I'm the oldest ones here, I am allowed to think about the next generation."
nodding to Eric.
"Yep, get the labs back up and running. not to mention soon we'll be moving Cerebus to a new, larger enclosure. that'll be fun."
Since Cerebus stood nearly as tall as James now on her legs and she was just and powerful to boot. and time had only made her more aggressive in both play and otherwise.
then down to rennell.
"Yes, frightening thought, but you know as well as I do with the restoration of Meta to full, she's been dying to tinker and upgrade and rebuild almost everyone's equipment."

"Jelly's kidlets are her Echoes and those are all the stress either of them need. Their child is that silly Cerberus if you want to get really technical. And they even made her together. How cute is that?" Giving a giggle to that and eating another bite of her cake. "Her new enclosure is at least repaired and non-shiny. Now that she's bigger, we really can't afford her to be ripping pieces of it off. Nor do we want her ripping your hand off again. With any of her heads." And she had to admit, that Echo sort of freaked her out with it's three heads...
A quirked eyebrow back at Pike who seemed to want to know the status of her own biological clock. "Yes, once upon a time I did. My biological clock was up and running and the alarm was even going off when I met DJ. Then I unplugged it and threw it across the room."

Adam smiled a little bit as Lillia explained how Jelena's own little creations are basically her "kids", which he found kind of cute. "Ah Cerberus, who didn't grow up wanting that guy as a pet? Still, it is pretty cute." He could picture the little one as a baby, but since he didn't know what their Cerberus looked like he had to go with his own imagination.
But when he saw Lillia quirk an eyebrow toward him Adam looked back at her as she explained what happened to her bio clock, and it seemed she had a bit of history to go along with it which spoke of a man name DJ, which to him seemed like it was a big subject for her, so he didn't want to prod her about it. "Well you had your reasons, as everyone does. I don't know what I will do in the future when it comes to children, for now it is all about work for me." And maybe checking out the ship a bit more, with it as big as it was it must have a lot of interesting people.

"Lord...he's going to hit his 'I must procreate with my species' age. I'll get the sedatives." Shaking her head but quite easily zeroing in on Pike with his little quips. "You're on your way to a right beating, kid." Said in a very flat tone to Pike's new little nickname. Earth trash she did not need up here, not need old uncreative nicknames associated back to her, even if he meant it in play."And Cerberus is not a pet." Well he had just pushed more buttons than needed in one go hadn't he? Crossing her arms she frowned some.
Yikes, tension starting. Swallowing a fork full of cake he focused on what could be the happier news of the moment. "Let me guess, I get to be the bait. I'm leaving that one to you, she likes you. Though we may have good old Thobias help, I'm not opposed to that. But getting those labs back up and running won't be so bad. I'll run some quality control tests on everything in there, make sure everything is clean and working and what not." He knew the reasons she wasn't touching those labs and a little extra reassurance would be good for her. "Lillia will die of the shock of clean. I'll keep the shock pads handy."
"Hasn't she heard the phrase if it ain't broke don't fix it? My parts work just fine. Besides all she does is get frustrated with me because I'll just bleed all over her table when she does that kind of work. And I have no one to hold my hand. Nope, you're going to have to drag me kicking and screaming."
"Well, whatever it may be we at least know it's there and can be careful about it. I don't know about you but being shocked by such a thing is not in my top three ways of wanting to die, or accepte as an acceptable death. Thank you very much." Clicking keys more, "You want an micro drill?"

"And you know how much I enjoy doing that."
before glancing at Jelena with a smirk.
"Hey now, my biological timeclock reached the near alarm mode some time before you and I met. and I ignored it then, and I can ignore it now. but still, it's something to muse on."
A slight grin.
"You know, if we did have a little JJ, it'd be the first child to my knowledge born in space upon a cruiser rather then a planet of some sort. think of the possibilities in what that might do on a genetic level."
yes, prodding her on her love of genesplicing and such...before glancing to Eric again.
"You know, the idea of clean and organized was Lillia's department. don't tell me you've finally corrupted the one person I had to keep order in your messes?"
"where have you been all my life. a man that knows I want powertools. yes please. and I agree on that point. I've no intention of being deepfried for the sake of discovery in this case. if worse comes to worse I could always ask James to go to earth and see what he can find. he's still got connections in sensative areas."

"Even I have to say no to that, James. No studying of any potential offspring, regardless of how fascinating they are. We are not having children just so we can study the effects of space upon their psyches and development. A child should only be brought into the world out of love. Other circumstances occur but we shouldn't have to deal with that up here."
It was most definitely time to keep the peace between Jelly and the newest tech. He'd backed off of her and the child issue right at the last possible second and Miss Sunshine was still in play. Therefore, she sent him a reassuring smile. "Jelly takes her work very seriously, Adam, but her bark is far worse than her bite. Unless you hurt her Echoes or James or Eric. Then her bite is lethal."
Her eyes rolled at the good-natured teasing about cleaning. "My habits haven't changed but with all that's gone on, it's been particularly hard to keep things clean and organized. We'll get it all back on track though. That's a promise."
Her ears twitched and she spent the last couple of seconds eavesdropping. "Miss Sunshine's hand is open anytime you need it, Ren."
