"Hand it off to Meta or something. I'm sure they can always use soap that smells like a hospital. You got it from the med bay, didn't you?" Shaking her head and glancing between the two. Were they honestly fighting over such things.
"Don't let certain others see you with toys like that, Pike. Anything that's not nailed down is free game here and they won't hesitate to steal it and study it to their heart's content." Lillia tucked the sticky note beneath the clip on her board and she twirled a piece of her blonde hair.
"He's one rank ahead of me and he never lets me forget it. It provides us a very love/hate relationship and I can't stand it when he steals my sticky notes. Like now." Poking Eric in the chest with her pencil eraser and then looping an arm around Rennell's shoulders. "A girl is entitled to enjoy the smells she's around everyday. Besides, it was his Christmas present last year. Came from Earth, too."

"No, no need to chase him down I'm sure he'll come running to me eventually. So how long on new echoes? and are we going to have to move the cerebus into bigger environs?"
glancing over at her, and reaching across and brushing his hand lightly along her cheek.
"a fridge. well...at least your not trying to store anything in me."
chuckling lightly and letting her fly.

"Despite the buttering up manly compliment, she's right Pike, like this. Yoink!" Promptly taking the firearm from the boy from it's holster and holding it by the barrel like it was a dirty wet sock. "This is why you need training. You can't just twirl guns of any type around up here. Did I mention anyone with the right credentials can confiscate things like this?" Rolling his eyes about soap, "Alright alright. Good smelling things just weren't nice with Echo unjuries. I'll use both. Despite my Earth bias."
"I would steal your sticky notes for the fun of it, but I'm just not allowed in Echo which is where you hole yourself up most of the day. Or that big Fenrir is out..." He still didn't understand why that thing was allowed out now. Despite it munching on Norrington and what not. "You say that like we stink naturally. I'd like to remind you that in Fleet, we tend to not. It's part of our charm and the obsessive Fleet nature. You know that." Looking to Adam again. "Oh don't whine, Lillia had to do everything you did and look at her, she's just fine. In fact she's the most normal out of us all!"
"Oh can I do that? I'm running out of pocket pace. Soon I'm either going to need more pockets or a backpack." Chuckling as she joked with him though she knew it was entirely possible, or Jessica would get wind of that and James probably would find himself equiped with said compartment space. Boyfriends should be useful...but that useful would just be creepy. "Cerberus should be ready to move at the end of the week. As far as new ones...well that's not where my mind has been lately." Quieting as she had to concentrate to dock and what not...and she didn't like to talk about her lack of creating such things lately.

"I just like normal smelling soap, like that Irish Spring one, now that's good soap." But a look to Lillia and he frowned. "I would like to see them try, they would burn their hands and melt their tables if they tried to take this a part. Besides I always keep it by my side so I would like to see them try to be a pickpocket and take it." Though he grinned a bit as she twirled a piece of her hair, she has brains and a bit girlie, that worked for her.
But Pike made a noise when Eric took his phaser. "Fine, I get it! Just be careful with it Eric..." Adam was really concerned with how Eric handled his weapon because he could seriously burn himself if he grasped the handle, or if he were to grasp the barrel after it was fired, as Adam had to learn the hard way. "Is there a way around that little bit there or do I have to register it or something?" Though he looked back to Lillia and Rennell and smiled. "Who wouldn't steal her sticky notes if it came with free coffee? And question, who is Fenrir?" And why was Adam going to regret asking that? But a look to Rennell and he crossed his arms a little. "Well does anyone like throwing up? I think not..." But then his stomach decided to rumble and he grinned. "I haven't had anything to eat all day, didn't want to throw up on the way up here. Where do we eat?"

A small grin at her joking, but a more pensive look at her lack of wanting to talk about new echoes. ever since norrignton she hadn't wanted to create anything new. she still adored her created ones, and still had that glowing look about them...but it was almost like she was afraid to make something new.
"So where has your mind been lately?"
Jessica was working overtime again, working with veteran soldiers on replacement and upgrades, and well as working with Echo about incorporating the biological and the bionic. basically giving human flesh to bionic components as a covering, though only for limbs. trying to do it for eyes was just not pleasent, and a few bad attempts at cloning for internal fixes hadn't gone well. so they'd opted back on strict bioware for that one, until the biological snags could be ironed out like rejections.
But another one done and a pant on his new leg before shipping him off...and leaving her staff for a moment and back to her personal R&D lab..where she had Norrington still alive in various pieces basically trying to backward engineer him. James had insisted he be kept alive so that's what she was doing.
She could feel in her bones the chance for fame and fortune in making this work. not for building a fully bionic humanoid, despite her wanting one so bad...but in the engineering that allowed Norrington to basically directly interact with all these systems with nothing but his spine and brain.
It would cut down on recovery periods tremendously, and would fix what Jessica had always considered a massive flaw in Rennel's MATU unit. the fact it had to basically boot itself up when he woke rather then booting up during the time he was waking and coming out of REM sleep. basically for about five to ten minutes when rennell first woke up he was still a hemophiliac.
And now with new funds and fully atatus back, she could tinker and find out. she was even working on upgrading the MATU itself, to a more 'winged' version. smaller jets and lots and lots of smooth metal 'feathers' that worked like the alerons on a plane. less chance of other people injuring themselves if he had to carry them like he reported doing for lillia before. and probably safer for people behind him if he used the unit.

“Would you believe in a jar on my desk amongst the mess? Because that’s what it feels like most days.” Successfully docked she went about shutting down systems as that question had comes. He was probing again. “You know, usually when you ask questions like that you’re probing for something or other. Is it that time again already?”
“You know…I’ve been thinking about a few things. How do you keep a little piece of organic nervous system powering bionics and without the lapse of power up and down. Of all the various little things that could be...and have been eliminated. What about an ionic suspension solution of sorts?” They hadn’t been able to get him all apart yet, what with risks involved but guessing about things was a good as anything. “Maybe in the wiring, maybe between bioware plates. That’s how I would do it if I was making myself something like this. Put the nervous system and brain in an ionic solution contained by a central column. Have feed wires from that that circulate the same solution. In effect, you sort of have blood if that’s what you want to call it.” Of course he was in there. They took turns.

"Yes it's that time again. Erik and Lillia both have been very concerned about your lack of wanting to create any of the proposed ideas they've brought to you. even the plans for a male cerebus have been put on hold indefinately."
taking her hand lightly in his.
"I see your eyes still light up when your with your echoes. So I know it's not you just losing interest. what's eating at you?"
Jessica nodded absently, hearing what he was saying but not thinking it was likely.
"I'm sure we'd run across something of that by now if that's how it was engineered..particularly in the arm that had that blade attachment. and it had dna file reading and processing. I'd be easier if we could just rip open where his spine is, but James would kill me if we did that. I think he sees having this b*****d basically suffering and trapped in a bioware body a kind of poetic justice."
Looking over at Camp a moment.
"How'd you work out the synpases and such with Trevale's spinal work? I know her original setup was substandard military cast off, so I'm sure you had to tinker some to get it to work as well as it did."

"Guess I'm more preoccupied with doing what I'm doing now. It takes just as much time, if not more. Sure I'm a genius with gentics and what not but it's still difficult to work out of thin air." Which is what she did for the Meta side of things she was supposed to work on. Combining existing DNA was just so much easier and fun. Shaking her head lightly. "I don't know...I'm just not comfortable with putting out anything new yet. Call me germaphobic about it all. Compromised environment killed off over half of them when Envision had to be repaired. I'm not convinced my labs are stable yet and I just can't go through losing another one for stupid reasons." Stupid reasons being indeed that Noris hadn't cared for the integrity of her labs at the time when he had wanted Envision fixed and back on track. "Besides...things...are coming up and you know I can't work when they do."
"Poetic justice, while beautiful is very limiting. He's either going to have to get over that or we're just going to have to start going behind people's backs about things." Shrugging...he found James' opinion of the matter highly stifling. "Well, I used as much of her original nerves and what not that were left to start off, wiring replaced what wasn't there anymore. In the original design that's what I did, used a transfering ionic solution. More or less mimiced spinal fluid and did the job. Think car battery set up. But that's also why after only five years it was all getting pretty much useless. Built on Earth he may be, but these are no secondhand military grade."

"Normal? I don't know if I'd go that far. We're all a little eccentric, I'm just quieter about mine than some of you." But their differences were what made Fleet such an enjoyable place to live and work. When you were sequestered like they were, you'd better be able to get along with your fellow shipmates.
Laughing about the gun, she adjusted her glasses. "A fenrir is a mythical wolf that's a much larger version than the normal Canis lupe. This particular Fenrir is named Thobias and he saved the day with his giant teeth and fierce protectiveness of his mommy. The Echoes and Project Echo deals with creating mythical creatures from genetic programming and such. All very fascinating stuff."
Resting a hand on Eric's arm, she chuckled. "Give him back his toy. Didn't you ever learn how to share in the nursery?" Supervising the boys was a full time job sometimes. "Best food is on Radiance. There's a delightful bistro there that Eric and I haunt pretty much all the time."

"Well don't worry about the Meta half of things for now. work on the echoes that's your project and priority one. and I know what's coming up. why don't we just get you back into it by starting a male Cerebus. easy, quick and might make you feel better."
yes, they'd taken some big losses with the echoes after the incident, and he knew how it hurt her. but she had to get back in the saddle so to speak.
Jessica nodded lightly. so that would probably work. but they hadn't found any wiring like that yet. but they'd just have to dig some more, wouldn't they...so she got her power tools...and starting to work on opening up his chest without killing him...but not minding anything ont he monitors that announced pain.

“It’s registered already. That’s what I did with it earlier. However, just because it’s yours and registered doesn’t meant you’re allowed to have it if you’re going to treat it like a toy. Nothing is a toy up here save actual toys. That’s just the way it is. We can’t afford for anyone to be hurt, or the ships to be damaged in any way. A lot of resources take up both and we just recovered from last year.” He frowned at Lillia however before comically pouting. "I can share, long as he doesn't make the toys into dangerous things. Noris will have all of our heads." But he held the gun out to Adam. "Just be careful. If bad things happen here, people more than likely die. Even the little stuff."
"So does that mean one day you'll explode in a haze of eccentric-ness?" Grinnimg at her before a sigh. "Anyway..." Changing the subject from solenm reminders of behavior, "I like the idea of food. Let's go. I get to push the buttons, called it." The group heading as a whole through transporters till they got to Radiance and let Lillia lead the way from there. "I love the no money policy...I can eat steak every day if I wanted to."
"According to Noris, it's not." Confrontational about it all yes, but she was within her right to be so. "You just want your girl to get some lovin'. I'm on to why you want to make another of opposite gender. Though that does mean I get to mess with genetics to effect gender..." Wasn't that cute, bioengineering always did make her feel better. Not about the 'things' that were coming up but that was going to be a hurdle all in itself this time. Damn Camp didn't let her have any type of drug these days. "Fine, I'll play with DNA coding if you make sure I'm not going to have Noris bothering me. Captain he may be but he's not my father."
"If you want, I can whip up something like I did when I overhauled her bioware. Yes, lovely Fleet Tech that it is, I couldn't help but try to get it to react like I had originally intended. I just upped the effectivity of the solution using nanomachines. Which need replacing so it's not a permanent fix but we've all been trying to figure that out forever." Smirking as she went to her work without regard for her patient, not that he deserved anything anyway. He did reach over and mute a monitor though as the rapid beeping was driving him crazy.

"I'll keep noris off your back on it. after all your grant was for the creation of echoes and genetic engineering, not helping meta. we both have gotten bigger workloads of late but that doesn't mean that we should be forced into working one side or the other."
A slight grin.
"Now you know that's not it. but it's been a year since she was made, and from the records and talking with erik you don't normally let a working echo breed stay alone that long. Speaking of that, how would you make up for the age discrepancy between Cerebus genders? Or is that not something you tamper with?"
unstrapping himself from the seat and helping her with the power downs and such just to get things settled quicker not that she needed the help. then helping her out of the craft, and looking around a moment. Good, no Rennell, no Erik, no Lillia. so no one was sent looking for them.
glancing over at Camp.
"You suggesting we can work things like you did with Jelena so we can keep him alive while we rip up the part that probably holds all the delicious secrets of how this son of b***h functions?"
taking off chest pieces and going meticulously through the wiring and fluid tubes and such looking for something, anything, like Camp's suggestions on how he'd do it.
"He's got multiple power cores and biosynapse boards all over of the place in here. the powercores I was expecting which is why I built the four overloading guns. a full bioware body would need them. but these boards are a lot more then you'd need. I'd say he's probably got double the amount you'd need to work any bioware. but their arrangement is really odd. the near entirely of the chest is stacked with them, and the are redundantly routed through eachother."
Of course while she talked cams were recording while she worked for prosterity.
"I mean this explains how he moved so fluidly, even faster then a person in good physical shape could match up to, but the backfeed should have fried his brain the second this went live. the secrets on this have to be in the spinal and cranial areas of the bionic form."

"Technically what I'm doing for Meta is bioengineering...it's just bioengineering with fakey bits rather than the real things. However I do share Noris' thoughts on not wanting Earth to launch a nuclear missle at us or something the moment they get a whiff of 'Ohhhh Trevale is playing with people genes!'. Stress I do not need nor want." Letting him help her out and they venturing back into Radiance proper. "Well, no I don't. I highly suscribe to the thought that every creature, no matter how solitary they may be, wants to experience another of it's kind. Be it for breeding or whatever, it's just how things work. "
"However, age is something I'd rather not delve into. Someone tried it once, I remember reading the study. Either manipulate the lifespan components of the genes, or degrade the DNA itself. The later just makes for failures and the former is often fricked up very easily and is rather uncontrollable. Besides, we're in the animal kingdom here once you break down the genes. Her being a year older than he would be would actually work out splendidly. Maternal instincts means we'd get to see a teaching session on a daily basis. Then well, when he got old enough and got that urge..." Shrugging. She didn't try to actively breed her Echos. If it happened it happened.
"If you want to put it that way, yes. Think about it. We can fill in parts with the solution or just get a big tank and sumberge him. Since the solution I've come up with acts as a living fluid of sorts to keep brain and spinal functions, as well as nervous system structure strong...we could disconnect everything that isn't crucial to him being alive in the way he is and he'd be just fine floating in charged goo. Meanwhile we slap on some wadders and gloves and do what we need to do."
That girl had a way with words. But watching her as she picked and prodded he crossed his arms. "Maybe it's all just a ruse. Lots of tech savvy people often make things look complicated or like they'd act a certain way to fool those who will not think outside the box. Either way, lucky for you that I'm a neuro and orthopaedic surgeon first and a bioware savvy man second, hm?"

"And I like to focus on my work, gotta keep the hands busy in some way." And by the small amount of time Adam had spent in the fleet, he was starting to love bing there more and more. Though as Eric held his gun Adam turned his gaze toward Lillia. "Oh, that mythical beast huh? I remember reading up on it somewhere...it has been awhile." He needed to brush up on his mythology, especially if he were to start making things which he can give them names that belong to Gods and stuff. "Well I hope to meet Tobias one day, as long as he doesn't feel the need to nibble on someone."
A look back to Eric who wanted to go on and explain things to him. It wasn't that Adam did not understood, but it was that the phaser could be harmful to those who did not know how to handle it and it was one of the more personal things he ever created. "Then let me apologize, I just wanted to show it off and maybe get you guys asking just how I created it and such. But you don't need to worry about me actually doing stupid things with it. I have ran it through many tests, and found a few things to keep a reminder of, but in the end I would be randomly shooting it off unless it is for my own protection." He then looked to Lillia and gave a small smile before he reached out and took his gun back. "I understand, Eric." He then put his gun back in its holster and sighed before looking to Rennell. "Finally, my stomach is really starting to bug me." So after playing follow the leader for a bit Adam was back on Radiance and as they got closer to the food, Adam was getting even more hungry. "Well I'm glad as well, because right now I feel like the need to go all-you-can-eat."

"So a double bonus for us. maternal instinct, and potential breeding later on. Well that certainly works in our favor."
a small chuckle.
"they won't launch a nuke. we'd become too much collateral damage in pieces firing down to earth...if it even managed to get to the Fleet without being just a pretty light show."
Jessica glanced over at him and gave one of those seductive, charming yet decidedly wicked grins to him.
"Have I told you lately that I love you, my good doctor camp?"
looking back at all the work internally.
"No they way they are hooked up and such definately says they re being used. just how is the question without frying his brain in electrical feedback. And you just gave me a reson to break out those biological hazard suits."
