Aphrodite smiled nodding, looking back and forth from her high perch. "I think you're dollie went that way" She pointed off towards a trembling bush, a rabbit ran out from under the shrub like a bat out of hell. "Oo!" She giggled gleefully at the sight, hugging Al tightly.
Baxterfullous kept a weary eye towards where Lenore and Aphrodite went, feeling that she was safe he turned his attention once more to the weary gaurdian. "Iffy habits, as you call them aren't so iffy if you come from different places. Fascinating to some, perturbing to others... it all depends on your state of mind... which is hard to change if that's all you've known." His tone was serious, he stopped his eyes flaring at a spell. By itself the page marked itself, and he continued reading. "... I should know... and even soemthing simple to some is scary to others..." He took a deep breath his cat like ears flickered. "... Your shadow tells me you've been through a trying time...is that true?"

Taking the rabbit's panic as a bad sign, Lenore hurried into the bushes to make sure nothing was being killed.
" 'Dako?" she called, stepping through the snow carefully and untangling her wings when they got stuck. A raspy laugh came in reply, making Len hurry all the faster into the brush.
"You'd better not be killing anything," she said seriously, pushing branches out of her way quickly.
Crow bit back an unexpected bark of laughter.
"Honey, you ain't kiddin'." Glancing at Baxterfullous with cautious interest, she looked the shadows the winter sun made long and gray over the snow quietly.
"What else does it say?"
"Darn it, I'm stuck."
Thrashing with the branches of the bush she was entangled in. With a final mighty pull, she gave a squawk as she landed face first in the snow. Pushing herself up and spitting out snow, she looked around furtively to see what Sadako could be so happy about.
"Uh, 'Dako?"
The doll, busily chasing a group of baby badgers, gave a rasping grunt in greeting before returning to her game. Deeply surprised at the amount of cuteness she'd just stumbled in on, Lenore brushed a bit of snow out of her hair and looked at Aphrodite in mild amusement.
"Almost cute to the point of nausea, isn't it?" she asked dryly.

"... Hmm your shadow is rather cryptic, but most are..." He closed his eyes concentrating a bit harder. "A burden, sadness, tears shed for too long... ?" He looked to her, his cold exterior shedding. An odd understanding came over him, though the details were torn away from him. For some reason he could grasp a feeling of deep sadness that was like his own, though differnet in reason. Baxterfullous shook his head. "You .. and I are alike in someway... our exterioirs are but masks for what we truly are, but my mask is clamped tight and I can't remove it no matter how hard I try."
Aphrodite blinked at the badger babies, oohing at the cuteness. Blinking in response to Lenore, she shrugged. The tiny toddler moved away from the cold dull metallic feathers that hung from Lenore's ear, closer to her Warm neck. "He. 'Dako isn't gonna hurt the babies is she?" She asked quietly.

Crow gave a sad smile, removing one of her worn and well-patched gloves. Her claws glinted, almost metallic, in the bright sunlight.
"Some masks aren't meant to come off," she said, looking at the hook-like curve of the black claw, serrated to razor-blue sharpness. The finial of one of her tattoo-seals curled over the back of her hand, accenting her fingers with barbed tendrils. Sighing, she dragged the glove back on and leaned forward, resting her chin on her knees.
"You get used to it after awhile, though. Never accept it, but you get used to it..."
"Not if she knows what's good for her," Lenore replied, eyeing the fuzzy babies with a certain degree of cuteness-appreciation.
"Huh. They must be the kids of that badger Doll caught," she said, kneeling down and holding a hand out to one of the fuzzies sniffing at her. The baby gave a squeak and waddled away, only to be caught up by Sadako and hugged within an inch of its life.
"Fuzzy," she said happily, with an uncharacteristically pleasant look dancing in her blank eyes.

Words escaped him, though it seemed uncharacteristic, he purred. Flopping onto his side into the blanket he was sitting on, nuzzling Crow's side as though to give her a hug. "Things get better with time, though hardships come, good things follow as well."
Aphrodite gasped at the cuteness, too mush to bare! Though she kept her distance, she new the dangers of being near wild animals, anything three inches tall was usually considered food by far larger animals.

Unsure how to react to this show of almost-affection, Crow contented herself to smile at Baxterfullous.
"I suppose. I'm pretty patient - things'll hit an upswing soon."
Kneeling down in the snow and watching Sadako carefully to make sure she didn't get any ideas, Len put a hand up towards Aphrodite as though to shield her.
"Don't worry, sweets, I'll protect you from the fuzzies," she said. Sure, they were cute and sorta cuddly, but those claws could take an eye out.
That is, if the cuteness-overload didn't spur her into doing it herself to save her sanity.
"Scaredy," Sadako said, looking up at Aphrodite as she ran around chasing the babies.

Delivery Rabid Ice Weasel Rabid almost sprinted down the hallway from her room to Crow's, wanting to get there unseen and before the party began. She stumbled and almost dropped the heaping stack of presents in her arms. When she finally reached the door, she placed the gifts gently beside it, along with a neatly-written note. "Hurry up!" "I'm coming!" Rabid called as she skirted around the corner and back to Liam who held the rest of the evening's gifts. The Note Crow, m'friend, your gift is a very traditional one for the Vavvian people. In Mei-Vaar, only one holiday is celebrated. This holiday is called "En Ai'aleth" which roughly translated to "The Day of Giving". For months before this day, the Vavvian gem shops are horribly busy. The people are buying the an'raei; gems that can be filled with most anything and set in jewelry. This traditions allows for each Vavvian to give and recieve a different an'raei each year. According to legend, the an'raei are enchanted and set a charm correspondinding to the meaning of the an'raei on its owner. It seems to be fairly true. Your an'raei can be strung onto a chain to be worn as a necklace or just placed around to look cool. Yours and only yours symbolizes intelligence. No offense, of course. Julian's...well...it's kind of obvious. I still feel a bit guilty about not giving it up the day he was brought back. It's his now. I know Lenore probably already has most of Poe's stuff, seeing as to how she's named after his obsession but, hey, everyone needs new books! Much love, you all. Len! Ike and Klemie got u a batcat cuz it lookd lik ued lik it! Hope u lik it! Hey there, Len. I don't want you to get freaked out by my gift, alright? Or your mother, for that matter. Kindly remind her that anyone you may end up talking to has to answer to me. Just tell them Liam Faar opened the waves, okay? I'll see you soon.

"Yes, paitence. how do you think I get through the day with Aphrodite, oh I assure you she's cute, but she could throw a tantrum a mile long."

Lenore gave Sadako a stern look as the doll gave Aphrodite a rather predatory look, rattling her razor feathers in warning. The doll shrugged defensively and scuttled off back towards the clearing to Crow and the others. The baby badgers, looking profoundly relieved to be free of the doll's affections, squeaked at Len and Aphrodite before waddling back to their den. Lenore rose and plunged into the bushes again, careful to make sure Aphrodite stayed on her shoulder.
"Well, that was fun." she said dryly.
Crow gave an understanding laugh, nodding.
"I know what you mean. Len's got a temper on her that's pretty dangerous - it's one thing to throw a tantrum, but she could take an eye out without trying if she got mad enough."
Watching Doll finally give up on recapturing the frazzled badger, deciding to just wave it off as it scrambled for dear life back into the forest, she stood a little unsteadily and tried to stomp the life back into her snow-numbed legs.
"Huh. Where'd Len go, anyway?"

Once more another raspberry left the tiny toddler.
"A few paces that way." Baxterfullous gestured in the direction Lenore and Aphrodite ventured off to. "I can tell, Aphrodite has a tracking spell on her."
As soon as they immerged Aphrodite pouted. "So dats how you knows when I'm hiding!" She squeeked. " Bax is a cheat! " She wiggled.
" No, I'm a sneak." A chesire cat grin crept across his face. "It's what I do best my dear."

Crow gave a snort that turned to a slight gasp as the clear, cold winter air stung her throat. Eyes watering, she bowed low to Baxterfullous, hands clasped together in respect.
"It was good meeting you. It's nice to be able to talk to someone who understands," she said, quietly, her yellow eyes lingering on him pensively. "Me and th' gang are gonna get goin' before we freeze. I hope we'll meet again soon."
With a final respectful bow, Crow jerked her head to Doll and Lenore.
"C'mon, kids. Let's go before my nose falls off."
Lenore gave a disappointed "aaaaaww", gently lifting Aphrodite off her shoulder and putting her on the root Crow had abandoned. Looking slyly over her shoulder to make sure Crow wasn't looking, she plucked out one of the smallest razor feathers that grew at her wrists, watching it dull into a tarnished silvery sheen with statisfaction. Handing the girl the harmless shiny, she smiled and ruffled her hair with a careful fingertip.
"See you later, sweets."
Doll waved goodbye merrily, smiling with the guileless innocence of a precocious child.
"Goodbye, mister kitty and wasp-girl! I'll bring you a porcupine next time!"
"No you won't!"
"Okay, okay, a duck. I'll bring a duck next time!"
Rolling her eyes and shaking her head in exasperation, clearly in the opinion that she was surrounded by idiots, Sadako merely waved goodbye before scuttling after Lenore, her blank eyes sparkling with pleasant malevolence.

"It was a pleasure, I hope to se you soon." He nodded to her, his own way of bowing.
Aphrodite smiled, holding tightly her new shiny feather. "Thank you Len-Len! Goodbye!" She waved happily, then she nuzzled Bax and Al. "I'm cold too, can me and Al go inside and play with the babies?"
"Sure." The book behind him shut, floating up and high above them as did the blanket that he was previously laying on. Letting aphrodite ride on his back he smiled up at her. "So did you have a good time?"
"Yes." She grinned, clining to his scarf. "Len-Len is very pretty and wise. I want to be pretty like her when I get biggums." She nuzzled Bax's soft fur. "Uncah Bax, I wanna make this into a pretty? Can I?"
"Of course, but what sort of pretty would you make it into?" He over his shoulder at her, a curious expression gleaming in his eyes.
"An ear-thing, like Len-Len."
"I don't know, don't you think it's a bit big?"
"Nu-uh, mama can make it's smalls so it right size for me. Mama can do anythings."
A smile came to his eyes. "...We'll see, we'll see." He said as he made it over the hill and into the warmth of HQ.
